Mounjaro July 2025 Starters

Please let me know if there's already a thread for this! I did have a look and couldn't find anything.

I've just been approved for Mounjaro from Asda. I've been trying to lose weight for seven years. I've tried calorie counting, intermittent fasting, Slimfast, Weight Watchers (it didn't work for me, I was so hungry all the time and ended up overeating so I never lost), and Slimming World (I enjoyed it, but the weight loss for me was too slow so I ended up stopping as it's so expensive). The most successful diet I've been on was when I was breastfeeding my son, but the weight came back on when I stopped. I'm still lighter than I was pre-pregnancy, but this weight is not shifting or if it does it's so slow and I lose the motivation. I tried most for about 4-6 months (except WW, I gave that up after 2).

I can't exercise as I have a chronic illness, so I'm often in pain from just existing and exercise just cripples me. I think I have PCOS too, which might be why I'm struggling so much to shift the weight with diet alone.

My goal is to lose weight with Mounjaro hopefully, and then follow a Slimming World style diet after (which I still kind of follow now, just not as strict). I've managed to maintain my current weight for a year so I'm pretty confident I can maintain. I've also never tried to lose weight with other people, so I'm hoping this also helps.

Took my 3rd dose last night, weighed this morning and I’m 2.2kg down making a total loss of 7.3kg down in 2 weeks. Very pleased! 😁

Macaroni46 · 09/07/2025 12:16

Feeling a bit left behind. Only lost 4lbs in two weeks 😔
Minimal side effects other than fatigue the day after injecting

1023nina · 09/07/2025 12:20

I still having brain fog, but I think that because I've had no need to take my insulin I over 48hrs....never happened before, so I weighed this morning so I'm 2kg of in just 4 days....feeling abit blah but think it's meds sugars and weather and bloody HRT period....

VordLoldemort · 09/07/2025 12:23

Well done on everyone’s losses!
@Macaroni46 sorry to hear you’re feeling disheartened, but 4pounds is still over a quarter stone, and is a great loss so well done. Some people don’t lose anything on the starting dose which can still be normal until higher doses.

Spoonmoon · 09/07/2025 12:27

Have done my second jab today 😁

SW:83kg
CW:80kg

Try picking up something from your kitchen that weighs the equivalent, I guarantee this will cheer you up. 4lbs is a very decent loss in two weeks!

So I think I spoke too soon about side effects, I have horrible burps! According to my app today is the day I'll feel most suppression and that seems to be true. I managed a small bowl of crunchy bran and raspberries and a coffee at about 7.30 and I'm still absolutely stuffed. I'm conscious of still needing nutrients - what do you all do in this situation? I'm thinking maybe a smoothie with nut butter and spinach might be more manageable than a meal?

Sux2buthen · 09/07/2025 17:22

What app is working well for people please? Preferably close to free if not free 🤣

Sux2buthen · 09/07/2025 17:23

@Beachcomber81i hope you’re feeling better today

I'm on Voy at the moment and the app is part of the programme - they aren't the cheapest but I felt like it would be useful in the first couple of months at least! I've heard of people using Shotsy too which I think is free.

Went out for dinner last night. I has a starter of salt and pepper squid, a full main (with no potatoes), and shared a bottle of wine. It was all absolutely delicious, no adverse effects and I even lost weight this morning. I’m so happy, I was slightly concerned about stories of not being able to enjoy food or wine.

Please don’t feel left behind with that. 4lb in just two weeks is a great loss!

I've lost 4lbs and no real SE but today I've been really hungry, although managed to be sensible

Would it make sense to increase dose after 4th week?

Mounjamtastick · 09/07/2025 18:38

Any advice on sulphur burps chaps?

I've had them today too, drinking loads of water and Rennie's are helping so far.

Well this was my tea today, salmon and mushroom bhaji with cauliflower rice. I could barely eat any. I did manage to have some weetabix for breakfast and a banana for lunch but I’m really struggling with getting any calories in. I have a bowl of strawberries, some squirty cream and merengue for later, will try and sneak in a couple of babybells too, I’m worried I’m not getting enough but also wondering is this how thin people eat, surely not?

I am on 2.5mg and week 2 but so far no suppression or weight loss. Also am constipated and windy. Is anyone else feeling the same?

I think if struggling to eat cut the empty calories like rice, sugar, etc to ensure get enough nutrients and protein.

Hi everyone, I started on 2.5mg mounjaro Monday of this week. I weigh 12st 1lb and had to slightly tweak the figures I gave to get the pen. Owning up to that now rather than hide anything-only a slight tweak but needed for me-my weight has crept up and up and I’m at a point where I know I need some extra help to reset my eating amounts and eating habits.
I did 5 rounds of ivf and during scans was told my ovaries were polycystic in appearance (makes sense with other issues I have) however not formally diagnosed and therefore couldn’t provide a doctor letter to let me have mounjaro with the under 30 bmi.

My bmi without the tweak was 28.2

Today (48 hours after the jab) I’ve definitely felt some suppression-no interest in breakfast. Had my lunch and then some chestnuts (the ones in sealed pouches) and that has tipped me over the edge-felt extremely full for 4 hours now and can’t stomach having dinner. I’ll know tomorrow to not have anything after lunch. Definitely will be a learning curve!

I’d like to lose 1.5-2 stones, sensibly and would be happy with 1lb off a week but just less food noise/thinking about food, and to be quite honest give me a reset on being a glutton at the weekend.
Apart from a very full up feeling today I’ve felt alright so far.

I’ve gone with medexpress. Does anyone know how the process works? Now they’ve accepted me, will I be able to keep on getting mounjaro until I reach a bmi of under 25?

Thanks in advance, enjoying reading about everyone’s journey!

Thank you @Sux2buthenI actually am, no physical side effects really and definitely brighter in myself. I’ll know for next time Confused

LakeFlyPie · 09/07/2025 21:56

I did 2nd jab on saturday and feel quite rough today, bit dizzy on waking but had plenty of fluid and a small kefir smoothie and then did quite an intense Spin class. Had to have a nap this afternoon, felt drained and a bit spaced out. Have made a conscious effort to eat a bit more today (have been aiming for 1200-1300kcals generally. Have also upped the fluid as I’m constipated; always prone to this and generally concentrate on fibre and fluid intake which usually keeps things in good order. I’ve added in fybogel and docusate tablets. Going to have an early night and hope my energy levels are back to normal tomorrow as busy work day

Sux2buthen · 09/07/2025 22:12

@Beachcomber81thats great, I’m pleased for you 👍🏻I was less thick headed today and feeling quite good. Bloody tired now tho 😂

Still not tempted by previous foods I binged on, I got a bit hungry earlier but it was nice to know it was hunger for dinner not mindless emotional eating!
