Mounjaro July 2025 Starters

daisydreamies · 27/06/2025 14:17

Please let me know if there's already a thread for this! I did have a look and couldn't find anything.

I've just been approved for Mounjaro from Asda. I've been trying to lose weight for seven years. I've tried calorie counting, intermittent fasting, Slimfast, Weight Watchers (it didn't work for me, I was so hungry all the time and ended up overeating so I never lost), and Slimming World (I enjoyed it, but the weight loss for me was too slow so I ended up stopping as it's so expensive). The most successful diet I've been on was when I was breastfeeding my son, but the weight came back on when I stopped. I'm still lighter than I was pre-pregnancy, but this weight is not shifting or if it does it's so slow and I lose the motivation. I tried most for about 4-6 months (except WW, I gave that up after 2).

I can't exercise as I have a chronic illness, so I'm often in pain from just existing and exercise just cripples me. I think I have PCOS too, which might be why I'm struggling so much to shift the weight with diet alone.

My goal is to lose weight with Mounjaro hopefully, and then follow a Slimming World style diet after (which I still kind of follow now, just not as strict). I've managed to maintain my current weight for a year so I'm pretty confident I can maintain. I've also never tried to lose weight with other people, so I'm hoping this also helps.

I’ve not had any side effects so far. I did my second jab yesterday morning and I didn’t get a headache this time

Hello all,

I took my second injection Tuesday night , weighed on Wednesday morning and had lost a great amount of 5.1kg! Hope to share journeys and experiences with you all. My start weight was 96.3kg and I’m now at 91.2kg.

Beachcomber81 · 06/07/2025 03:53

I collect my first pen tomorrow. I’m currently 13st 11, and am aiming for 10st7.

I keep getting the fear of ‘what if it works for everyone else but doesn’t work for me’ Sad

Wow, that’s huge! Well done Flowers

Hi all 👋
Joining your thread for support and inspiration. I started yesterday morning, felt the suppression and noise disappeared within a few hours. Slight dull headache most of the day, not enough for paracetamol so I can cope with it.
SW 17stone 2 - absolutely disappointed in myself as I’m 5 stone up in 11 years.
2 stone gained in 18 months due to peri.
no target yet as small steps.
Good Luck to everyone, let’s smash it together 💕

ByLemonFish · 06/07/2025 08:01

End of first week. No major SE.
First weigh in, lost 2lb. Happy with that
Hope everyone else is doing ok

CarbyB · 06/07/2025 08:21

Good morning everyone🫶🏾. First weigh in was today and I’m happy with my results! I have lost 4 pounds.
SW 13st 2lbs
CW 12st 12lbs
GW 10st 7lbs

Roll on week 2….

LadyCurd · 06/07/2025 09:02

Joining for support too. First jab yesterday.
my birthday is in a couple of months and aiming to lose a stone by then. I want slow and steady weight loss as worried about pancreatitis and gallstones if not. Not sure how much it’s kicking in yet but defo fell sated and not hungry all ready but also verging on uncomfortably full on eating very little. Will see how I go.
CW: 14st 3
TW: 12st3 (then I will review- I will still be overweight at that but I have a big frame and I’m tall so I don’t think the 10- 11st-ish healthy weight for my height or frame is sensible or realistic.)

plus I have a ton of clothes I really really like in my current size - all no longer made so can’t replace. Will have to find a clever tailor!

Vamoosh80 · 06/07/2025 10:49

hello 👋
Joining for support. My injections have arrived and I will be starting tomorrow. Slightly worried about side effects due to experience of a friend. I'm 42 and perimenopausal and just cannot seem to lose weight anymore.
SW 12 stone 5
GW 11 stone (or less).
I used to be a very slim size 8-10 but since having two kids and hitting my 40s I've progressed up to a 16 and feel very uncomfortable in my skin. I'm not a massive snacker but my portion control is terrible so I'm hoping this helps.
Good luck to everyone on here!!

daisydreamies · 06/07/2025 10:56

I just weighed myself and I’m still the same weight I was when I weighed myself last Tuesday. Not sure if it’s because I’ve just come on my period, I hope it’s that. I was hoping I’d lose more weight after the second jab as I lost weight in the few days after the first one. I’m still down 3.5kg, so not awful but I am disappointed that I haven’t lost more since the initial drop. I’m on w2d3 if anyone is curious.

I’m not going to dwell on it too much, since it is the starting dose.

Week 1 done, 4.5lb lost. I think it is probably a little more but struggling with constipation.
No SE apart from a dry mouth.
Onwards and upwards!
SW 16st 9lb
CW 16st 4.5lb

Xocoreto · 06/07/2025 11:33

Hi all

Joining the thread as I received my pen last Thursday but scared to start.
My main concern is side effects including the risk of pancreatitis.
I have been thinking about ordering some blood tests (the ones you can do at home) . Has anyone done that looking for some reassurance?
Age 50
Height: 166 cms
SW: 82.4 kgs
I would like to lose between 15-20 kgs

My current diet is really healthy (lots of veggies, fibre and lean protein) however my downfall is snacking mainly in the afternoon... chocolate, biscuits, ice cream. I am perimenopausal now and all the excess weight is now on my belly. I also have been diagnosed with non alcoholic fat liver disease and i have a history of high cholesterol.

I also have to hide it from my mum who is currenly staying with me. She is VERY against weight loss injections (old fashioned and in general against the pharma industry as a whole).

Feeling very nervous about starting it but at the same time very looking forward to it after seeing results on friends and work colleagues.

LakeFlyPie · 06/07/2025 11:44

Happy with 1st week. Definitely felt appetite suppression from D1 (although was also aware of it waning towards the end of the week - was able to resist the thought of biscuits though). Interested to see how week 2 goes as I’m always able to sustain snack free healthy eating for a week but tend to fall back into snacking ways after that.
SW 85kg
CW 81.8kg

KimsInconvenience · 06/07/2025 12:08

Hi all, can I join? Took my first dose last night, just before bed. Have already realised that was a daft decision as SAturday night will be a terrible injection night as it's when I am most likely to want a drink, so I will probably change that gradually until my injection day is a Thursday.
This morning had a yoghurt and a tea like normal, but am not normally hungry in the mornings so will see how it works out later on. I have previously tried ozempic which worked initially, but then I found I could still over eat and it had very little impact. Since then I've found out that I was deep into a very early menopause (am 40 and out the other side of it now!) so I am hoping that now I have my hormones under control, this could work. I hope so, because I am 5ft 6 and weigh 107.6kg, which is heavier than I have ever been before and affecting my health! I have always been quite fit even if my weight was higher than I'd like, but now it's affecting my running and moving.

Having previously been on ozempic then the doctor said I'd probably see very little impact on the starting dose so I am not expecting big things at the start, but hopefully once I go up a dose or two then it will kick in a bit more.

Am aiming for weekly weigh-ins, so will report here to keep me accountable!

I feel for you. I weight myself daily, and today I went up 0.7kg 😭. I’m trying to console myself that I also went down 0.6kg yesterday, which is equally impossible in reality. I think we need to remember that fluctuations in water and food in the gut ect ect are normal, if we keep up the calorie deficit it will come off eventually.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 06/07/2025 13:02

So, I've been approved! Delivery due 3-4 days so now need to really start planning. I'm thinking Thursday evening would be a good injection day as I work from home on Fridays to deal with any initial side effects and if the suppression does wear off it won't be over the weekend which is when I'm most likely to snack. Tues - Thurs are my busiest days both at work and with DS hobbies so if suppression does wear off then I have limited opportunities to over eat!
Feeling nervous as I feel like this is my last chance to actually be a healthy weight, it feels like now or never.

Has anyone done this without telling their partner? DP and I aren't in a great place at the moment we've very much grown apart. No drama or arguments, just not feeling like a couple so not feeling like I want to share. He'd be supportive in theory and not at all concerned about cost or anything like that, but equally he wouldn't make any effort to cook healthier food or limit portion sizes on the days he cooks.

heroofalexandria · 06/07/2025 13:44

I’m on day 2 of w1. No side effects so far as I can tell but I did come on my period early this morning so now feeling dreadful from that. No real hunger to speak of, my stomach rumbled a bit earlier so I had a protein yoghurt and berries and then couldn’t eat any more. I’m sort of observing myself with interest at the moment! DW had some cookie dough last night (around 6 hours after I injected) and it wasn’t that I didn’t want it, just that I couldn’t be bothered to get off the sofa to get some. Food no longer felt like the most motivating thing. Aware this could all be placebo but I’m excited so far

mrsmalaprop · 06/07/2025 14:25

Hello everyone.

i’ve been lurking for a bit, but wanted to say hello. I actually started at the end of June, but felt too far behind with the June starters, so held out to join you bunch.

I am W3D2.

I haven’t weighed myself. I took a picture of the scale, my daughter entered my weight then I uploaded it and deleted it, because I genuinely don’t want to know. I know this is not rational and irritatingly disordered. How can being in denial be helpful?

my problem is, I’ve been on this rollercoaster all my adult life and the numbers are often my downfall. I attach too much judgement to them. The scales tell me how good a person I am - and I often disappoint them. I know I need to address this.

I am aware that I am the biggest I have ever been, having been the smallest I had ever been just 4 years ago. I lost a lot of weight between 2018 and 2020 and kept it off for over a year. I promised that would be the last time, but of course it wasn’t.

The reason I am mainly doing this now is because that rapid weight gain after losing such a lot before has rendered me quite immobile. I have severe arthritis in my right knee. I can barely walk at times. I can’t live like this anymore. I am 47, not 97.

I think it’s working. I’m eating so well, but not having the mad, gnawing hunger I had constantly the last time I did this.

This is having a strange effect on me, though. I eat a small amount of nutritious food and feel full. Then that feeling of fullness makes me feel guilty. As though I have eaten too much. I have realised I associate hunger with weight loss and success. The less hungry I feel, the more I worry that I’m messing it all up.

This is all stuff I am working through. I do think that the focus on mobility and increased activity rather than appearance is good for me, because it’s always been about what I look like before, and then I get disillusioned when I get loose skin and don’t look how I imagined I would. This time, I’m not using the mirror for measuring progress, I’m using how easily I can get up from sitting on the floor or how fast I can run up the stairs.

I am optimistic.

It’s so good hearing how you are all getting on. Just expect more NSVs from me than numbers initially.

Elvish · 06/07/2025 15:07

Just done my second injection and weighed in. 2kg lost in the week, which I'm really happy with.

Went to the pub last night and ended up drinking lime and soda, pretending it had alcohol in it as I don't want to tell people I'm having the injections. Not drinking would really be questioned by the people I was with! But it was an amazing feeling that I just didn't want a beer.

so you think you are eating less than before. I don’t think there is anything “magic”; the weight loss is due to eating less. If you haven’t lost despite eating less likely due to water rentention.

Luckypoppy · 06/07/2025 17:35

Ok… injections ordered. First day will be 20th July (want to get a few things out of the way first). Very nervous.

Can anyone recommend which vitamins etc would be useful and and other medications or things to help with side effects? I like to be prepared 😂

EnglishGirlApproximately · 06/07/2025 18:12

So I was approved this morning and it's already been shipped! Looks like my Thursday start will be going ahead

Thanks @Luckypoppy, I'm now wondering if I just go for it sooner to get it out of the way! Interesting to hear if anyone can recommend any vitamins too

WhereIsSpot · 06/07/2025 18:40

Some great weight losses. Very encouraging to see. I'm weighing in the morning. Has anyone taken the jab straight from the fridge? I want to take it in the morning and don't know if I'll be up early enough to let it warm up.
