Mounjaro July 2025 Starters

daisydreamies · 27/06/2025 14:17

Please let me know if there's already a thread for this! I did have a look and couldn't find anything.

I've just been approved for Mounjaro from Asda. I've been trying to lose weight for seven years. I've tried calorie counting, intermittent fasting, Slimfast, Weight Watchers (it didn't work for me, I was so hungry all the time and ended up overeating so I never lost), and Slimming World (I enjoyed it, but the weight loss for me was too slow so I ended up stopping as it's so expensive). The most successful diet I've been on was when I was breastfeeding my son, but the weight came back on when I stopped. I'm still lighter than I was pre-pregnancy, but this weight is not shifting or if it does it's so slow and I lose the motivation. I tried most for about 4-6 months (except WW, I gave that up after 2).

I can't exercise as I have a chronic illness, so I'm often in pain from just existing and exercise just cripples me. I think I have PCOS too, which might be why I'm struggling so much to shift the weight with diet alone.

My goal is to lose weight with Mounjaro hopefully, and then follow a Slimming World style diet after (which I still kind of follow now, just not as strict). I've managed to maintain my current weight for a year so I'm pretty confident I can maintain. I've also never tried to lose weight with other people, so I'm hoping this also helps.

Only if it's unopened. Once you open it it has to be used within 30 days apparently, in the fridge or not. A lot of people seem to take the "golden" 5th weekly dose though, and that would be after 30 days wouldn't it, but they seem to be ok and it still works. I don't know, it's confusing.

Yes, that’s what the online pharmacies all say so you don’t attempt this. Makes no sense when you think about it - it’s fine for 30 days at room temp but not any longer in fridge. Either way it’s not an option for now but am considering it in the future to save money.

I’ve weighed myself this morning, down to 98.9kg from 100.6. I think that’s about 3 lbs. Very pleased!

That’s amazing!

It could be because of the needles going into the pen. I’m not a pharmacist/scientist/great with how bacteria and stuff works, but I think some stuff from the air goes onto the open needle and is then introduced into the liquid inside. Someone correct me if I’m wrong. Iirc, once air is introduced it’s no longer sterile.

2nd jab done!
I have a bit of a headache, but still feeling well otherwise.
I didnt get extreme appetite suppression at all, like some of you. Just eating smaller portions due to feeling fuller quicker, not wanting to snack, eating 3 balanced meals a day due but not actually getting too hungry for them. I feel like that's a more sustainable way to carry on with anyway.

notsochattysue · 04/07/2025 11:29

@daisydreamiesi laughed when you said less opportunity to snack when your husband is home. I am exactly the same! I am a star pupil when he is here but he’s away mom to Thursday and I eat like a teenage football team!

My first pen arrived today with 6 needles!!! So hoping to use the golden dose. Will stab after lunch and hope for the best.

Sooo frustrated! I ordered my first pen from medexpress last Saturday. It was approved and prescribed on Tuesday but still hasn't even been despatched. I've rung them this morning and they can't even tell me when it's going to be despatched, all they'll say is "there's a delay". Soooo frustrating! Has anybody else had problems with them?
Sorry....just really needed to rant!

Thischarmlessgirl · 04/07/2025 13:07

Week one day 6 - supression definitely much reduced today which makes sense as jab due tomorrow.
Feel a bit overwhelmed with the idea of tracking/weighing cycle as in the past this hasn’t been good for my MH as I get too fixated but equally want to give this the best chance of success

Apparently the pens might not work for a 5th dose you have to buy a separate need to extract. There are you tube videos explaining this.

Yes I am sure there is a slightly increased risk but I still think that the drug companies do not want people splitting the dose in this way or they will be less profitable.

I’m on week one day 6 but couldn’t resist the urge to weigh myself while no one was home ! I started at 93kg and am now 89kg - I was half expecting no loss so I’m happy with that ! I’m struggling to force myself to eat in the evenings so I’m changing my dinner time to lunch time in the hopes that helps as I’ve barely eaten the last week !

That’s an amazing loss! Well done! I’m trying to hold off on weighing myself until Monday and keep Mondays as my weigh in day. The scales are so tempting

I've lost 3kg in a week, which I'm sure is 70% water weight, but a good start in the right direction.
2nd jab is kicking in already and I'm getting good appetite suppression, much quicker than the first time.

Sparklysunshine · 04/07/2025 16:05

thanks Guys ! Im not expecting big losses every week just as long as I steadily loose weight . Im struggling today though , ive had my dinner at lunchtime and I’ve just had 2 dry crackers but i could easily eat more so having to use a bit of my own willpower now . Roll on 6pm tomoz fir my next jab !

Nellieinthebarn · 04/07/2025 16:06

Its my weigh in day tomorrow. I am really worried I wont have lost anything. Well done for all those that have though.

Sparklysunshine · 04/07/2025 16:18

You certainly shouldn’t feel pressure to loose weight straight away , we are all different and this is our long term goal . We will all have good weeks and bad weeks I’m sure , the main thing is we are here and we are doing it !

I’m really inspired by all the weight losses so far. Well done peeps!

I just did my first injection! IT DIDNT HURT!!

Em85kk · 04/07/2025 18:21

2nd jab for me tonight and 1st weigh in tomorrow morning. I say 1st, I’ve weighed myself about 20 times this week just to see if something is happening!!

CarbyB · 04/07/2025 18:56

Well done everyone! Amazing!

Jab day tomorrow. My appetite was majorly suppressed for the first 4 days. Yesterday I was a little more hungry but nothing like before I started. I’ve still been eating in a deficit of 500 calories and I have been making much healthier choices. I find I’m choosing what I eat based on nutrition as opposed to level of enjoyment/flavour. My evening meal now just consists of a protein source and LOTS of veggies. I’ve had the odd treat but as opposed to a full pack of Waitrose mini shortbread selection, I am now satisfied with 4 biscuits (92 calories in total)— that doesn’t tempt me to eat more which is very very unusual!

I will weigh in on Monday and update you all!

smileymileysmiley · 04/07/2025 19:25

can i join? pen arrived today and is in fridge - am starting wed eve as away monday for work. I'm really nervous about it though. Been overweight aince having my first and she's 22 now. I lose weight and then pile it back on as i generally have to go really low carb with no treats at all. Food noise and suga addiction rules me - pretty sure insuling resistant too

am hoping this will help me

HelloQuery · 04/07/2025 19:26

I have received my first pen but have write a few things this weekend where I don't want to be struggling with side effects so plan is to take the first jab on Sunday night. I'm so inapired by all of you
