Mounjaro July 2025 Starters

daisydreamies · 27/06/2025 14:17

Please let me know if there's already a thread for this! I did have a look and couldn't find anything.

I've just been approved for Mounjaro from Asda. I've been trying to lose weight for seven years. I've tried calorie counting, intermittent fasting, Slimfast, Weight Watchers (it didn't work for me, I was so hungry all the time and ended up overeating so I never lost), and Slimming World (I enjoyed it, but the weight loss for me was too slow so I ended up stopping as it's so expensive). The most successful diet I've been on was when I was breastfeeding my son, but the weight came back on when I stopped. I'm still lighter than I was pre-pregnancy, but this weight is not shifting or if it does it's so slow and I lose the motivation. I tried most for about 4-6 months (except WW, I gave that up after 2).

I can't exercise as I have a chronic illness, so I'm often in pain from just existing and exercise just cripples me. I think I have PCOS too, which might be why I'm struggling so much to shift the weight with diet alone.

My goal is to lose weight with Mounjaro hopefully, and then follow a Slimming World style diet after (which I still kind of follow now, just not as strict). I've managed to maintain my current weight for a year so I'm pretty confident I can maintain. I've also never tried to lose weight with other people, so I'm hoping this also helps.

I'm due my 2nd dose tomorrow morning, and feeling much hungrier again this evening.
Will be interested to see if 2nd dose has more of an effect than the last due to the residual drug in my system from the 1st (half life being 5 days, I think)

Hobbiestwriter · 03/07/2025 18:07

just did my first dose, very easy but have a weird taste in my moutb now, not sure if psychological or not.

Feel anxious but proud of myself for taking a step into the unknown!

Mounjamtastick · 03/07/2025 18:44

Hi all, I’ve just signed up and been approved and just looking for some support I think. I have been on a diet since I was 7 years old and never off one for longer than 6 months in all that time. I have never been in the overweight category, always either obese or morbidly obese. My lowest ever adult weight was 14st and that was when I was 22, I’m 34 now and 20st something (I’ll weight myself properly when the injections come). Size 22 though and feeling it. The only thing that’s ever worked for me is very low carb. I have PCOS and insulin resistance, so I also lost weight in both my
pregnancies because My hormones were under control which is what I’m hoping Mounjaro will do for me.

Im 5 months post partum from my second and last baby, so time to take my body back now it’s finished growing other people. I always said I’d do this once my babies were born so here I am.

Would love to hear your experiences so far because I’m a bit scared!

Hobbiestwriter · 03/07/2025 20:09

2 hours in and feeling a bit sick, and doing the Sainsbury's shop and not bothered by the treats. Surely it can't work this quickly ?!

Bunnie22 · 03/07/2025 16:32

Don't you have to use it within 30 days though? Will you dose twice a week?

I think it will be ok for 60 days as long as keep in fridge.

SilenceInside · 03/07/2025 21:20

@MeridaBrave No, the instructions that come with the pen are clear that unused pens can be kept in the fridge until the printed expiry date. Once a pen is used, as in you’ve done at least one dose from it, then you have 30 days to use it. Whether it’s in the fridge or at room temperature.

MeridaBrave · 03/07/2025 21:06

It says, once you've opened it, it has to be used within 30 days.

What is a NSV? Also what is SE? Sorry, bit dense. Agree with PP, say you are in a diet or intermittent fasting if you don’t want to get into it.

Non scale victory and side effects! I had to google them myself haha

How soon have people experienced side effectseffects? I finally did my first injection late last night and feel so ill today. Migraine is so bad, I’m so dizzy and I feel really sick like I’m going to throw up. Everything I’ve read seems to suggest side effects take a couple of days to appear. How long did they last for anyone that’s had them? I feel awful but can’t just go to bed as I’ve got a toddler and baby to look after 😭 really hope this passes quickly

I got a headache the morning after jabbing, and felt pretty bleh all day

So sorry you're struggling - especially as you can't take time out. I hope this passes quickly for you.

Hi welcome in!

I’m on w1d5. I did my jab in the evening on Sat (didn’t count that day so I’m technically on day 6), and in the morning I had a headache. I found it worked pretty quickly, I wasn’t hungry. I did have an upset stomach for one day. I’ve not had any other unpleasant side effects. I can’t burp so no sulphur burps and I’m on tablets that stop heartburn because I take naproxen fairly regularly, so none of that. A few people have mentioned heart burn/acid reflux so get a few antacids in just in case!

The hunger and food noise suppression was good until day 4, but this is pretty normal. Some people time their jabs so they start to get hungry on less risky days (they avoid the weekend for example). I’m going to move my jab to Sunday morning instead so I’m less likely to order food in for me and my son.

The jab part is easy, the needle is tiny and it’s a small sting if you do feel anything. The instructions are easy to follow. If it’s hot where you are, I’d recommend keeping the pen in the fridge since it doesn’t like temperatures over 30°C (I don’t blame it, I don’t like high temperatures either).

Definitely have a read through of this thread and the others to get more of an idea of what to expect. Everyone reacts differently. I hope you find it works and the side effects are easy to cope with! 😁

Thank you, daisydreamies, got there in the end after standard edition, southeast, straight edge and stock exchange 😳Would have never gotten NSV!

juniebug · 03/07/2025 21:51

Yeah, it’s interesting to hear all the different experiences. Hope those who have bad side effects improve soon! Week one, day one done for me and great suppression. Just a headache. Long may this last.

MeridaBrave · 03/07/2025 21:06

I think it will be ok for 60 days as long as keep in fridge.

Only if it's unopened. Once you open it it has to be used within 30 days apparently, in the fridge or not. A lot of people seem to take the "golden" 5th weekly dose though, and that would be after 30 days wouldn't it, but they seem to be ok and it still works. I don't know, it's confusing.

SilenceInside · 03/07/2025 22:36

@Bunnie22 a fifth dose is within the 30 days, doses 1 to 4 are days 1, 8, 15, and 22. The 5th dose if you choose to extract it can be done on day 29, within the 30 day limit.

YourSpleenIsDamp · 04/07/2025 01:13

I've just been approved by Asda 🥳 First pen should arrive the next few days. My main worry is constipation; I'm already prone to it and hate feeling bloated. Are many of you getting that delightful side effect?

I was worried about it also, but so far, so good! 🤞🏻

Can I ask about not being able to burp? I also can’t burp but thought it was just a weird quirk of mine 😅

DarkSuitsSadSongs · 04/07/2025 07:33

I'm W1. I injected on Tuesday night. I've struggled to eat since. Wednesday was bad but yesterday was worse. We took the children out for the day (school holidays have started up here) and had lunch and dinner out. I wasn't hungry at lunch so all I had the entire day was dinner:
2 honey and mustard glazed chicken goujons
1 slice of garlic bread
8 French fries
1 skinny flat white

I did manage lots of water.

I weighed myself this morning and I'm showing 3.5lb loss since Tuesday.

If the suppression doesn't ease off I think I may stay at 2.5mg dose for another month.

CookieQueen1986 · 03/07/2025 17:32

I’ve just noticed I’ve got a horrible bruise where I injected this morning! Is this normal?! (Excuse my hideous stomach)

I have a similar bruise. It doesn't hurt so a small price to pay. I was quite careful when I did the jab as well.

I can’t remember what causes it or what it’s fancy name is, but it is a thing! Some people get botox injections (in their neck iirc) to help if they get bad symptoms from it.

I did jab 2 today. I’m wanting to move the day I jab. I was going to jab Sunday morning but I’m so hungry and being hungry during the weekday is when I’m most likely going to snack/order food in. (You can change the day you inject as long as it’s 72 hours after your last one). I nap over the weekend and my husband is home so there’s less opportunity for me to eat unhealthily

I had this debate. Medication arrived on a Tuesday so I started Tuesday night.

Weekends will be tough if it's wearing off for me but I work in the office on a Monday, Tuesday and a Friday so was worried about having the worst of any side effects on an office day (long commute of 1.5hr each way on the train).

I've not had much side effects really and aware that increasing the dose may change that. Will see how this weekend goes on it.

EvelynSalt · 04/07/2025 09:54

I’ve weighed myself this morning, down to 98.9kg from 100.6. I think that’s about 3 lbs. Very pleased!

I did Thursday for that reason. If no side effects I’ll
probably move to Friday at some point. Weekend is always hardest.
