@SnackcidentProne and @Wishiwasgardening i had prolapse repair surgery 6-7 years ago. I’m always on the verge of constipation due to a medication I take, but I’ve managed MJ fine. Lots of water and I always have movicol as a back up.

SnackcidentProne · 01/07/2025 20:19

@NigelAdjacent It was 100% worth it and wish I hadn’t waited so long. I was at the point where I couldn’t actually do a poo without splinting and spending so long on the toilet. Recovery was hard and I was off work for two months.

Puffalicious · 01/07/2025 20:26

Hey all 👋. WK 3 day 1 here. Weighed this morning & down another 3lb, which I'm delighted about. 8lbs in 2 weeks is so great.

The thing is that I don't understand how it works?! I'm eating the same as I was (been cutting down since Jan, lost a stone & completely stalled since Easter, even putting on 2lbs) give or take - lots of protein 1200 cals ish a day- but the weight is coming off. Do you think it's my metabolism getting a boost? (53 & recently menopausal).

Still having the odd treat & I definitely felt hunger returning rapidly last night & this morning (first chocolate I've had all week was last night- only a little though).

I know the loss will slow now, but 1.5 stones since Jan has suddenly made the difference to quite a lot of my clothes, which is brilliant. Off on hols on Sat for a week, but will take pen with me for 4th dose.

SW (Jan) 14st 2
SW (June Jabbers) 13st 3
CW 12st 9lb

Yes, came on the day after 1st jag of 5mg. I thought the silver lining of the complete emptying of my entire digestive system would have been visible weight loss but it's only been 1.5lb and I look 4 months pregnant from bloating. And my poor bumhole is not happy.

Now the question is should I do a 30 click 2.5mg dose this weekend or am I feeling lucky and should I stick to 5mg?

This happened to someone I know. They now do 2.5 every 5 days instead, no SE X

This forum is my only support . Thank you
I text my sister today , told her i think i have lost about 4-5lb…no response , changed the subject , so no support as she just thinks i am fat and lazy !
I am active through the day doing housework jobs, gardening etc and i have animals to care for .
I dont think i am particularly lazy , but its not nice to think thats what you are thought of.
My mother was the same, no support, no encouragement and no well done .
I know i am old now at 68 , but things stay with you and all the bullying at school and beyond for many years called fat ( i wasnt fat in my teens and was ok till i hit around 50 )
My sister was complaining her size 8 are getting a bit tight !
She is 84 and never ever been a bit overweight, more the opposite.
Makes me a bit depressed really when she doesnt support me .
Sorry for the rant

In sorry to hear that you don't have a lot of support but keep turning to this thread! Defo nice to speak to others on the same route and good for you a) for starting this and b) for the weight loss so far!

What animals do you have? I'm assuming cats from the name haha

I dont have any to be honest as she is the only family i have left .
She doesnt even like fat people and judges them just thinks they are greedy .
Wouldnt mind, but she eats more in a day than i do in 3 .

Always has and got a big appetite , always two courses at night !

Yes, as my user name 🤣
Cat lady of 7 .
All rescues , some abused , so i relate to them and now they live a life of luxury ❤️

I assume you are a book lover ? I love books and reading too .

Whatanidiot123 · 01/07/2025 20:57

That’s an interesting approach @Booklover2021 do you know if her prescriber suggested it or if she’s just gone rogue?!

HereWeGoooovy · 01/07/2025 21:25

W1D5 and my sweet tooth is back and I feel the cravings and thoughts of biscuits etc coming back. Didn’t feel as much appetite suppression either. Not convinced I’m going to have lost anything this week, especially as I’m on my period too.

Am going to try to use these next days until the next jab as practice for willpower for post jab life and try to eat as if I’ve got the effects of the jab to get in the habit of establishing better habits. If that makes any sense at all.

Good luck to all!

It's my dad and he's gone rogue! He was the reason I started MJ as he lost about 18lbs in his first month. Then was sick as a dog on 5mg, took about a week to recover and he didn't want to go back so he started doing it this way and it's working wonders for him x

Oh yes massive book lover! Have been since a kid, all the classics such as Brontë etc, a massive range of genres now! That's so lovely you have those cats, I have 1, he was my 30th birthday present (a "few" years back) and is like my 2nd child after my toddler!

Thank you . They are my world and my family , i live on my own except for those .
Been living on my own nearly 35 years and had cats all my life
Yes, i read a lot too, big kid though and read a lot of young adult .
Got into them since i read HP .

I am getting my 5mg pen in another week and half.
I am going to try 3.5 to start as 5mg is a big jump up and dont want any side effects .
Not had any so far …touch wood

Wishiwasgardening · 01/07/2025 19:35

Can I join your lovely supportive group? I did my first Jab on Weds 25 before bed, so I'm 6 or 7 days in depending on whether I count the day of the jab? 2nd jab tomorrow and I'm feeling much more confident about it.

I've got a lot to loose, ideally 5 to 5 1/2 stones as I have osteoarthritis and need to be well within a healthy BMI to help with that. No awful SE so far, just a dry mouth, which is helping me to drink extra water. The food noise suppression is working really well so far, but I am still able to eat reasonable portions.

I have been worrying about constipation because I have a bowel prolapse due to a birth injury. I've managed to stave off having surgery by working with a physio and keeping myself regular, but constipation could undo all my hard work. So as well as keeping my calories to about 1200 and protein to 90g+, I'm also aiming for 30g+ of fibre a day.

Hi and welcome,

I also have 5-5.5 stone to lose. I took my 2nd jab yesterday. No side effects and 3lbs down.

feeling positive!

Going to have to give in and buy some scales .
Any recommendations ?
Not expensive ones .
So many on Amazon seem to say they are inaccurate .
Last pair i bought were totally unreliable and inaccurate .
Thanks

I wouldn't worry too much in terms of accuracy of you just want to monitor weight loss. Let's say your starting weight is 14stone but ok real life you're 13.10, doesn't matter because the scales will still accurately measure losses so you can still see losses every week, regardless of what they start on

Lola528 · 02/07/2025 01:59

Had my 4 week consultation today (doing MJ via a local pharmacy) and it’s good to have that 4-week catch up where they also weigh you, take a waist measurement and check your BP. She said I need to do this before each new pen, only takes 10-15 mins so no biggie :). Have lost 4kgs in the first 4 weeks and 1.5cm off my waist, that was interesting as I haven’t taken measurements otherwise, maybe I should?

I have been doing ok on 2.5mg so have decided to keep at the same level for the next 4 weeks to see how I go. Very nervous about increasing the dose, terrified of bad side effects (to be fair, so far only minimal thankfully). I did suggest I try 3.5mg of the 5mg pen and she wasn’t happy about that at all “it’s supposed to be done in 2.5mg increments and not prescribed otherwise” so I guess she’s not a fan of working the system (I’m not objected to it personally, but she was aghast 😂).

Anyway, official weigh day is Thursday for me as I take my dose on a Wednesday before bed, so will see if any more loss this week then.

Keep on jabbing folks! Onwards and downwards!

Thank you. Yes, that’s really where I’m at but I’m terrified for the recovery or it making things worse. I think I still have some birth trauma (which unsurprisingly is what got me into the rectocele situation in the first place!). Really glad it’s been so worthwhile for you.

Midlifecrisis765 · 02/07/2025 07:29

I’ve done it! I’ve broken the 100kg mark. Two days in a row I’ve been 99.45kg I didn’t want to post too soon as I know weight can fluctuate daily.

TheMagnificentBean · 02/07/2025 08:16

Well done @Midlifecrisis765 that’s an amazing milestone!

I’ve just done my third jab. Last week it didn’t seem to work at all (having really noticed a difference in W1) so hopefully I feel more this week. I lost a little last week but all down to willpower and I was hungry and snacking and thinking about food a lot. Planning to order my next pen soon and will be going up to 5mg.

SnackcidentProne · 02/07/2025 08:26

First week completed and 3.6kg down. I also managed to get 4 gym sessions in so feeling good about that.

Going to stick to the same time and jab at 3pm. Hoping for another week of no SEs.

DIZZINESS ……this was not an SE I was worrying about wk 2 day 4 and I can hardly move !!! Any advice appreciated , I drink 3-4 litres of water every day a litre and a half of which has electrolytes.

DD517 · 02/07/2025 08:51

New SE for me... ultra sensitive to coffee! Immediately feel jittery & dizzy!

Yes, caffeine can affect blood sugar levels, though the extent varies among individuals. For most healthy adults, the effect is minimal, but for individuals with diabetes or those sensitive to caffeine, it can lead to noticeable changes. Caffeine can stimulate the release of adrenaline, which can cause a temporary spike in blood sugar. It can also impact insulin sensitivity, either increasing or decreasing it depending on the individual and the context.

Googled and found this ! Maybe why I feel worse this morning also sweetners spike blood sugar and I guess we have a different insulin resistance now . 🤔

Looby99 · 02/07/2025 09:40

Morning all! W4D1 for me, though I haven't actually jabbed yet. I'm too much of a wuss to do it myself so my fella usually wakes me up with it before leaving for work but forgot today.. Can't say I was too disappointed not to be woken up at 5am with a needle lol!

Weigh day today and 2.2lb down, just hit 13st 1lb and can't believe in the next week or so I might be in the 12st range, started at 14st 4lb back in March so feeling really happy.

Had a bit of a lightbulb moment this morning, I've suffered with health anxiety for years and have regular, almost daily, anxiety attacks. But it's like my head had just completely forgotten it. I realised this morning that other than jab days (when anxiety shoots through the roof), I've not had a single anxiety attack since starting MJ! Not sure if it's to do with the lifestyle change, or stopping alcohol or maybe a combination of both but just feeling to much better in my own mind and so much happier. So excited to be on this journey!
