@Bluenose1966 do you feel the L tyrosine is working for you? I'm a different person, wish I knew about it years ago. I've currently taken a 3 day break and I'm still feeling the benefits. I'm taking a break as you do have to take care as it increases blood pressure and adrenaline which is beneficial when feeling low but then you don't want it to get too high either. I've read up on a few reviews and they often take breaks every so often. It's also really good for vegans and vegetarians as tyrosine is mainly in meat and I was veggie for 5 years so that could explain why I've been low for years. I also gained most of my weight during this time too as a lot of work places and restaurants don't have good non meat options other than chips, pasta, sandwiches etc!

Edited

I've been vegetarian for decades so maybe this is the thing I’ve been lacking!

Good tip about the breaks - I do have borderline high blood pressure so I will
beed to watch that.

How soon did you feel the benefits? Am I imagining it?

flowerlady2 · 02/07/2025 10:26

Yes, those are my thoughts too, I want to reach goal before rotating down then take a low dose whilst adjusting to maintenance for a period of time. I’ve worked too hard (and spent a lot!) not to have a real plan and support for maintenance

Yes spent a fortune and I dont want it to go to waste!

Fizzleawayyy1 · 03/07/2025 16:38

I just booked a last minute trip to disneyland paris with my son!

Going at the end of the month once the schools break up. No food is included so will grab and go in the parks. Il have some treats but try and keep it mostly good.

Going to Thorpe park this weekend, a work event next week which includes a posh 3 course meal and hotel breakfast/lunch too and St ives next weekend!
Then a 40th Party, disneyland and then a wedding so the rest of July is going to be rough for weight loss and I'm not expecting much movement. I think il be happy if I even hit 1lb a week over the next few weeks.

Within 1hr I felt lifted and every day after that the happiness and energy got stronger. I've noticed today, it starting to drop after 4 days off it so just took it but I've still been in quite a good mood mostly, just a bit of tiredness kicked in and a frustrating event at work but I'm coping with everything so much better than I used to after a month on it. My BP dropped after starting mounjaro, it used to be 145/93 and its now 108/70

outlanderish · 03/07/2025 22:52

Hi all - gosh haven't been on this thread in nearly 2 months. But I hit my target 4 months ago 8st 5 (4 stone down) and haven't looked back. I came off the jab 2 months ago.

Still getting used to the drastic weight loss and looking in the mirror still doesn't feel real. I do feel I look a little gaunt - has anyone else experienced this? And my hair loss still is in full swing. I must admit, I thought I'd enjoy the weight loss but people who haven't seen me for a while pester me about how much weight I've lost and it becomes a draining conversation to the point it makes self conscious as if I've lost too much weight. Now I'm worried I'm too skinny - what a problem to have 🤣

anyway well done to all the weight losses and I'm sure I'll be back soon x

Bluenose1966 · 04/07/2025 08:24

Enjoy all your events @Fizzleawayyy1 We have been to Disneyworld in Florida many times as I still love theme parks. Though so expensive now not sure if we will go Florida again plus kids are all grown up. Might save for the new kitchen I want instead….

Congrats @outlanderish Well done on weight loss. I sometimes think I look a bit gaunt and I definitely have wrinkly skin but worth it for not only the weight loss but improvement in health.

@lickycat Only been taking L-tyrosine for a few days and haven’t noticed any difference yet, though maybe a bit more energy!!! Since starting MJ my blood pressure has gone down to just on the normal range from similar high BP to you @Histoscientist . A slim healthy, active friend of mine, age 62 recently had a stroke which they have said likely caused by her high blood pressure so I count my lucky stars I didn’t have one while BP so high.

Think as I have been a yo-yo dieter for many decades I am going to be on. MJ for life. I know how many times before I have had best of intentions and regained the weight.

Fizzleawayyy1 · 04/07/2025 11:54

@Bluenose1966 We love Disneyworld! we are planning another trip in 2027 straight after our daughters GCSEs. We went to Disney California last year which was also great but not a patch on Disneyworld. We have done Disney Paris loads but kids still enjoy it.

Histoscientist · 04/07/2025 18:58

@Bluenose1966 yes great news about the reduction in BP, always good to get into normal ranges. Actually a colleagues mum had a stroke today, she is 80. They've literally just buried their sister to cancer 2 weeks ago, it's probably all the stress on the mum of losing her daughter causing the stroke.
Good to hear about L tyrosine, I'm glad I've inspired a few and really hope it helps as it really has for me. I know their is some tough opposition to prescribing mounajaro to healthy people below 25 bmi. It was mentioned on the Oushk forum today and its worrying as its my jab day today and I've been craving carbs since yesterday which is a sign of unstable blood sugars/insulin resistance. When I'm on it, don't crave them at all. God help me if I taper down and come off it. Considering staying on a low dose for a while.

lapuf · 04/07/2025 21:23

Oh that’s interesting @Histoscientist
I’ve been massively craving carbs today as I’m exhausted from a work trip but hadn’t thought about blood sugar levels

Yes I was prediabetic and I craved crisps and chips, probably had them almosr daily. Starch cravings are a sign of high blood sugar/insulin resistance/diabetes i read on a few websites.

Letshavetea1 · 05/07/2025 08:17

Morning all. I’ve just woken up to read (with some fear and trepidation) about the problems with Oushk and the regulator. I’ve found them to be brilliant and went with them in the first place as they do maintenance. It seems there are now questions over this. Does anyone else feel the same? Does anyone else have a suggestion of another pharmacy to go to who do maintenance and perhaps have a GP overseeing the pharmacy as this seems to be one of the issues for Oushk. There is another thread running on this subject.

HansHolbein · 05/07/2025 10:29

@Histoscientist Thank you, she's much better now. Come to think of it, me too! Not been ill at all. Another wonderful 'side effect' of MJ maybe?! I wish I had used the bonus dose too, ugh! I think I was just too scared to mess with it, but I will now going forward. I miss our Boots scales so much! It disappeared during covid and never came back!

I've seen a few people recently and they have been very happy for me. One person said they didn't even recognise me! If I am brave enough, I will post some pictures on here. Haven't had any negative comments... yet. We have a party in October with people I haven't seen since last October, that will be an interesting one!

@Bluenose1966 Thank you so much, she's on the mend. She's had tonsillitis about 10 times in the past 2 and a bit years. The NHS won't take them out (even though she misses loads of school etc), might look at taking her somewhere privately for a second opinion. Amazing about the £540, wow!

@Fizzleawayyy1 Oh Disneyland, fabulous! You have a very fun month coming up. Life is for living and you can't put anything on hold due to a few lbs - enjoy it! The scales move eventually.

@outlanderish Congratulations on getting to target! So happy for your and I'm glad maintenance is going well. I've had a couple of 'you're too skinny' comments, too. I think people just have a hard time realising that this is the new 'us'. People have seen me being fat for so many years that it must be hard to accept I am not anymore. Same goes with myself! I know I am slim but sometimes I think, am I though? It must take a while for your brain (and everyone else) to catch up.

@Letshavetea1 Try not to panic. Nothing is set in stone yet. Remember when everyone went nuts during covid and started hoarding loo roll and chopped tomatoes... it creates a panic and everyone starts to scramble. I think we should keep calm. Nothing is going to happen immediately. Providers (and I am sure Lilly) are starting to realise that this is a life long drug and as more data comes out I am sure there will be provisions made for maintenance. As long as we are all telling the truth and being forthcoming about our health then I don't think we have anything to worry about. Unfortunately, it's the twats who have been lying, fudging their height, putting weights in their clothes, that have fucked it up for everyone else. In a way, I am glad they are tightening things up, for the protection of everyone. Hopefully, it will filter out the twats.

FWIW, I am with SwiftDr - they are GP led. They prescribe to BMI 21 and then support maintenance. You can book a maintenance call with them. They also prescribe to BMI 19 with certain conditions (PCOS being one of them). They are happy with my goal BMI of 19.7 and then will support me going down the doses to maintain that. They are always very responsive via email and WhatsApp. They've been thorough with me, which I think is a good thing. A GP led pharmacy might be the way to go.

@recklessgran - really hope you're ok.

I am now 8st 7.6lbs - 2.6lbs to go. Can't believe it. Last time I was this weight I was probably about 8 years old! I've been a bit constipated the past few days so took a Senna tablet thing last night - I can confirm it works lol!

We are going to visit my MIL in hospital today... that's a whole other story. Glad the weather is better. Monday and Tuesday were vile, absolutely vile. Love to all x

Does anyone else have a suggestion of another pharmacy to go to who do maintenance and perhaps have a GP overseeing the pharmacy as this seems to be one of the issues for Oushk. There is another thread running on this subject.

I think the issue will be with all pharmacies not just oushk. How are any pharmacies going to verify height? This was brought up and also pharmacies being involved in giving overall health advice etc. The maintenance issue is due to the manufacturer guidelines and info sheets which stipulate to be used for overweight and obese people, the wording specifically didn't stipulate a bmi below 25 even though they have included this in clinical trials as some patients were on it for 3 years. I think the manufacturer may have to amend their prescribing guidelines to incorporate this as they have recommended it to use for maintenance long term.
GPC regulator also need to realise that bmi 25 differs for everyone, we all have different fat ratios, especially visceral fat, which is the most concerning for health conditions and then insulin resistance or other metabolic conditions etc and age which contributes to disease and abdominal fat deposit.

It just so happens that oushk was one of the first to have their inspection by GPC with the stricter regulations. In fact Oushk are one of the better pharmacies with what they offer like video consultations and maintenance plans and all the advice they email out. Watch the live that was posted on Facebook group yesterday as Hira gives more info on all this.

Histoscientist · 05/07/2025 11:28

@HansHolbein wow well done on your loss! I have 2.5lbs to get to 10st my main goal but no doubt I'll carry on when I hit it. I'm 5ft 3 so can afford to go lower.
I've always had good feedback from people though when I first started there was the comments about "lots of money to spend if you end up putting it back on" and lately "do you know it can cause pancreatic cancer"...The not so positive comments are from those with fears and insecurities or jealousy that take it out on others. I'm going to look at swiftDR, what are you paying for 15mg? I paid £160 with free delivery and discount on last pen with oushk. Also how do they manage maintenance? Is it an email process with questions and answers?

Taxiparent · 05/07/2025 12:47

@Letshavetea1, I watched the live that Hira put out on FB and all pharmacies are being inspected, Oushk just happened to be the first through and are therefore to a certain extent are inspection guinea pigs. There are some aspects of the repeat prescription process that will need additions, for examples more questions to complete about medical history etc and more background checks on customers moving from another prescriber. For maintenance it appears the GPC have very little understanding of why maintenance would be needed, so Oushk gave them a lot of information to go away with and it may need to be a case of narrowing the maintenance BMI bands a little, but no panic yet.
I am 1lb off my holiday target weight, with 5 weigh ins to go, but weight loss has slowed down to 4lbs a month, but a lot of yo-yoing to get there. My BMI is 22.8, but I still have a lot of weight around my belly, (just asked my 18yr old what he thought my BMI is to which he chanted, “180” in pure darts stylee, then admitted he has no idea about BMI.. 😂 ) I am now deciding can I get another 4lbs off to give myself a bit more leeway for cocktails… I have started as a maintenance customer with Oushk, so will keep you all updated if there are any changes coming.

Letshavetea1 · 06/07/2025 10:33

@HansHolbein thank you - I’m not going to do anything hasty as it’s not how I tend to do things. Was just a reaction on here because this a a great group for support! I’m surprised at Oushk’s harsh GPhC review - I have been really impressed with them. Thanks for the info about Swift Dr. I’ve also found a company called Lotus that is registered with the CQC. Really I’d rather stay with Oushk so hope they pass their next inspection.
Congratulations on your amazing loss - you’ve done so well! Glad your daughter is feeling better. Both my children had to have tonsillectomy ops. It did help.
@Histoscientist - agree with your helpful and reflective comments. I’m not on Facebook, but will borrow my husbands phone to listen to Hira’s post. She was excellent when I had a video consultation with her.
She’s just sent an email out explaining why weight loss is slow with certain co-morbidities (PCOS, hypothyroidism, depression).
@Taxiparent - yes, I think Oushk were maybe inspected early as they have a high profile. It is a concern if they don’t understand the need for maintenance though. You’ve done really well with your weight loss.
Eighteen year olds aren’t usually known for objectivity with all things parent!

I’m still stalled at 11 stone 4 with a bmi of 25.5. I’m going on holiday on the 14th. I’d love to lose a pound by then, but feel so much slimmer I’ll be fine if I don’t!

igivein · 06/07/2025 10:51

Morning all.
Just been having a catch-up read as I’ve been on holiday in Croatia this last week. It was really hot (35ish) and I was so glad I wasn’t lugging around that 90lbs I had this time last year!
I seemed to exist on ice-cream and focaccia but did loads of walking and swimming in the sea to counterbalance it.
I’ve decided the whole ‘Mediterranean diet’ thing is rubbish - it’s the fact that it’s so hot you don’t want to eat and it’s so steep and hilly you turn into a mountain goat that keeps them skinny / healthy 😂
Back home and went shopping in the sales yesterday - really needed as I don’t have many clothes that fit. I bought some new jeans and a lovely shirt in a size 14 (I was a 22/24 when I started) and I just can’t get my head around it - it defies physics!!!

Anyway - to business:
SW: 20st 2lb
CW: 13st 9lb
Loss this week: 2lb, total loss 6st 7lb (hurrah!)

Well done everyone on all the positive updates this week - go us!

EVK · 06/07/2025 21:03

Congratulations and amazing weight loss - you must feel fantastic 🙌💕 such an achievement and how wonderful to be shopping for size 14’s After all this time you’re still managing 2lb s loss in a week which is fab.

TheChosenTwo · 06/07/2025 21:23

Some great continued results this week, and I agree with you @igivein - my appetite decreases when it’s warmer and I definitely eat less ‘food’ on holiday but probably up the cocktails and ice creams to compensate!

I’m down another 1lb this week, now 10st 12 from a starting weight of 16st 1. Shocking. My size 12’s are rapidly falling off my waist and I’m quite cross as I thought I’d probably remain a size 12 for a long time. My weight had pretty much stabilised for a couple of months but my body shape was still changing. Spent £300 on a couple of pairs of jeans that fit like a glove and that looked great on and now they just look saggy 😭 At the same time I’m convinced 10’s would be too tight for me. Haven’t tried anything on yet but I’m reluctant to!

I’m also with Oushk so will be watching to see what happens, I’m now at BMI 23.7, will be interesting to see if I’m just cut off!

EVK · 06/07/2025 21:23

@Letshavetea1 thanks for info on Oushk - I checked out that thread - like you I’ve been pleased with my treatment with so far so won’t be jumping ship yet, but I did check out Lotus who look good too. I stalled loads, especially near my target weight, keep doing what you’re doing and it will move again. You’ve done incredibly well - Enjoy your holiday.

I’m down to 8.7 3/4!! So almost at my lowest weight again which was 8.6lbs before I came off MJ. Going back on 2.5mg has helped me come back from 8.9lbs down to 8.8-8.7lbs. I know it doesn't seem like much and it isn’t but for me it’s a really significant cut off point - I don’t want to go above 8.7lbs really and it was so horrible when I started creeping up! I began to feel stressed about it and disappointed with myself. I definitely need the maintenance support of low dose MJ for a while - it makes a difference and I have no side effects except slightly slow bowels! I do feel that until our bodies get used to the new ‘set point’ that maintaining will be a challenge. Who is it that’s doing so well off MJ and maintaining at a slightly lower weight than when they stopped ? Can’t remember- I was so hoping I’d be like that and thought I would be as had all the good intentions but I have to admit I felt myself slipping.

Also, can’t remember what needles someone recommended for the bonus dose but need to get some ? Got them from Amazon before but as someone else said they’re nice t necessarily the best!

I’ve read all the posts lately and love hearing how well everyone is doing. The weight loss humbles me / incredible 🙌

EVK · 06/07/2025 21:28

@Tohaveandtohold just scrolled back through and it is you who’s so inspiring - 19weeks of MJ and no gain! I fact a little more lost ! Incredible- I would love to be there too - any tips ?

lapuf · 06/07/2025 21:31

I’ve taken my last dose tonight from the never ending 5mg pen! That’s me done, at the bottom end of my revised target range of 8st10-9st (5’3”), but it’s the end of the beginning!

EVK · 06/07/2025 21:32

@envbeckyc and @lapuf I wish you great luck - I was ok for the first 4-5 weeks but then I found my appetite returned with veracity and I was aware my portion control was going out the window. Still didn’t change what I was eating but definitely ate more and I did start putting on a few pounds. @Tohaveandtohold has managed brilliantly and hopefully she has some handy hints - good luck 🙌

Tohaveandtohold · 06/07/2025 21:43

@EVK , it’s me on maintenance off the jab. I’ve been without the jab for 20 weeks which was the same time I was on it for so a mini milestone. I hit my lowest weight on Saturday though I’m in maintenance but any weight loss is welcome. On my RENPHO scale app, I did a comparison of my stats the day I finished the jab and yesterday and it was an eye opener.
That said, as we all know, there are lots of people who will have to be on the jab for longer to create a new set point before they can come off and some will have to be on it for life. It’s all a different journey and you’re doing well. You could see yourself slipping, went back on and dealt with it before it gets out of hand. I still always come to read about everyone’s journey as it’s encouraging to me as well so glad it’s all going well.
Here’s a picture of the comparison between the day I took my last jab and my weight yesterday
