Thank you for allowing me to rant, share our ups and downs. Our group blows my mind of how we are so supportive of each other.
Some of us are now hitting the 12 week mark, some of us are nearly at their goal, some halfway and some still have a way to go, but we are all losing even if it’s half a pound a week. We have all come so far and are making a difference to our health.

Finally less than 13 stone! I’ve not been this weight since 2014 😊

It was a gorgeous sunny evening here yesterday and DP wanted to have wine and peanuts on the patio but I refused, knowing that the salt makes me hold onto at least a pound of water weight and I wanted to be definite of seeing a weight starting 12 this morning.

I’ve now got to the point where he can see the weight loss (as the people closest to you often can’t because they see you every day) partly helped by wearing a fitted blouse instead of a loose T-shirt. So, if anyone is feeling despondent because nobody seems to have noticed, and you are wanting them to, are you still wearing your old clothes?

Chilldrill · 04/08/2025 16:49

@Ingangoolie definitely thigh gap!, woo woo.
Back to the caravan Thursday, will jab on Wednesday, today is jab day now, jigged around from Thursday, when we last went away, I am feeling hungry but managably so, gotta get used to this way of eating now so get on with it.
Night time is still the worst thing, telly has always equalled wine and crisps, but I push through thinking of the hit I get from the scales going down. However now I don't really need the scales to go down, where am I getting the 'hit' from? iyswim, (clue they still are😕)
This is tricky territory for me.

Ingangoolie · 04/08/2025 18:07

@Chilldrill sounds like you could do with a new source of hits. What’s really important to you in your life? Something that gets you more connected to that maybe.

People coming off obesity jabs like Wegovy and Mounjaro should have check-ups for at least a year to make sure they don't pile weight back on, new advice for the NHS says.
It's not uncommon for people to regain most of what they shed once they stop treatment, experience shows.
The guidance, from health assessment body NICE, warns weight management is a long-term journey, not a short-term fix.
Patients may need extra support and a plan for how to stay at their new weight, such as eating healthily and hitting the gym or going for walks, it says.
How do weight-loss drugs like Mounjaro and Wegovy work?

'I feel blessed to get weight-loss jab' - but can the NHS afford it for all?
Published
13 January
In England alone, obesity affects around one in four adults.
An estimated 1.5 million, external people are on weight loss jabs in the UK, but the vast majority are paying for them privately so will not be eligible for NHS support as they come off the treatment.
Wegovy (semaglutide) is already available on the NHS on prescription, but only to those most in need (with health problems due to their weight and a high BMI) for a period of two years.
Around 240,000 people are expected to be offered Mounjaro (tirzepatide) over the next three years. There's currently no specified time limit for being prescribed the drug.
Both drugs help reduce appetite and can lead to life-changing weight loss. They are prescribed alongside programmes that support healthy weight loss through changes to diet and physical activity.
In a Wegovy drug trial, external, patients regained around two-thirds of their original weight once they came off the injections. It's a similar story for those on Mounjaro, external.
New advice from NICE, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, encourages patients to build long-term behavioural habits, use self-monitoring tools, and draw on wider support "from online communities to family-led interventions and local activities."
Prof Jonathan Benger from NICE said: "Successful weight management doesn't end when medication stops or when someone completes a behavioural programme.
"We know that the transition period after treatment is crucial, and people need structured support to maintain the positive changes they've made."
Prof Kamila Hawthorn from the Royal College of GPs said: "There is no one-size fits all approach to tackling obesity - what works for one patient will likely not work for another.
"We also need to see a greater focus on prevention, stopping people becoming overweight in the first place so they don't require a medical intervention later."
Obesity can cause people difficulties in their daily lives, and put them at more risk of serious health problems, such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and some types of cancer.

@Flamethrowers I read that article this morning (the one about long term support). I find the way the press writes about WLI fascinating purely because of the wildly seesawing perspective. It's not "news" (ha!) that medical and scientific data are usually badly reported but WLI have brought it into focus.

Morning! I didn't update on jab day so here goes:

5ft 8, early 50s, just finished 1st 7.5 pen, next pen will be the same.

SW 17st 4 (24th March)
CW 14st 3.25
GW 11-12st

At 19 weeks I've crossed the 3 stone loss milestone and my weight now begins with a 1 in lbs!

@Ingangoolie that is a certifiable thigh gap - hurrah!

GiveMeWordGames · 05/08/2025 09:08

@Justformounjaro you're right about clothes. Because I've still got a way to go I was trying to wait longer to buy new stuff in smaller sizes and just shop my wardrobe. But while that's working for jeans, trousers and skirts where I've only dropped a size (thank you stubborn meno belly), I've gone down 2-3 sizes on top and things were starting to hang off me in a rather unflattering way. I had a bit of a splurge on Roman a couple of weeks ago and feel much better.

And I had my first comment on my weightloss at the weekend - from my Mum! DH has said from the earliest days that he can tell but he knows and my Mum doesn't so it's different. 😁

TheBossOfMe · 05/08/2025 13:20

Morning all. Missed weigh day yesterday so weighed today. I am continuing to lose weight - am now 6.3lb below goal, and looking a trifle gaunt. Send Janice my way.

I think I'm going to skip jabbing completely this week - I think I should have started going down doses before reaching goal instead of waiting. I know some of this loss is because life has gone back to being super stressful. But I need to force myself to eat more now, this isn't where I want to be weight wise!

Like I said, who knew this would be a problem? Maintenance is a new part of the journey.

BeaTwix · 05/08/2025 13:34

@TheBossOfMe sorry things continue to be difficult. And congrats to all buying new clothes etc. Sympathies @TheSpoonyNavyReader I’d have an indulgent week to see if you can jump start your body out of famine mode.

i’m plodding on. Down another kg this week.
I last weighed this amount in 2019.
Only really noticing on the scales though clothes etc.appear to still be fitting the same. Except bras. My boobs are vanishing!

SW - 127kg
CW - 112.7kg
GW - 73kg

@BeaTwix another one here whose chest is vanishing! I can fit my hand in the gap now! Really need new bras tbh!

Thanks for all the supportive comments a few days ago re me not seeing the difference. Yesterday I tri d on some clothes that were "very fitted" aka too small before MJ and now they are too big so I'm going to list them on vinted this afternoon. So maybe I there is a difference.

I did my first 7.5mg on Saturday, so far so good, I side effects from the jump, possibly because I did 5.83 and 6.25 the previous weeks as a slower jump.

We are child free this evening so we have said we will have a takeaway. This is how MJ is changing my brain as before MJ I would be so excited about takeaway and really looking forward to it but I'm just.....not bothered!

I need to decide what to have but I get so full so quickly 😭 this is the part of MJ I dont like....I miss the dopamine hit from food!

northernlight20 · 06/08/2025 08:24

Morning,
jab and weigh day. 5 months exactly to the day since I started mj.
sw 114.4kg
cw 92.7kg
gw is between 70 and 75kg, this is finally starting to feel doable. Just under 2lbs to get my 3 and half st loss. Can’t believe it really. Staying on 10mg for another month then will reassess.

yikesanotherbooboo · 06/08/2025 09:29

Update :
SW 84 kg
CW 65.5
GW not sure but less than 60 kg
i gained .5 kg this week which I expected as I have lost quite a lot of suppression and thus my desire to snack… we had a very long social day at the weekend with snacks and more alcohol than I am used to. It was a wake up call regarding what will happen when I am no longer on mj.

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 06/08/2025 10:24

I've really fallen out of the habit of keeping up with thus thread, I need to get back to it. This week I lost the 2lbs I gained last week. Still 3lbs away from 3st loss. Hoping to do that over the next 2 weeks. That will hot my 3 st by my birthday target. Then, is like to lose 2 more before Christmas. Whether that's realistic or not I don't know!

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 06/08/2025 10:25

That would be 1.75lbs a week.

BeaTwix · 06/08/2025 10:44

I’m wearing trousers I bought two or three summers ago in two sizes. The bigger one was huge so I kept the smaller except they were never comfortable so I don’t think I’ve ever worn them

Anyway they are now on my body out of the house!!

Think that’s realistic. Hit my 3st mark last week and loosing roughly half a st a month now so I am also aiming for the 5st mark for Christmas (with goal of 6st to be hit in February)
my original goal was to be at goal by Christmas but don’t think it’s doable and 5 out of 6st is more realistic

MJ122025 · 06/08/2025 13:50

Lowest weight today. 26.4lbs off in 22 weeks. So very slow and steady. I seem to lose a bit then stall for a bit then lose a bit. I am taking heart from this though that I might be ok when I get to goal. 11.2lbs to go!

Chilldrill · 06/08/2025 14:20

New level unlocked yesterday, washing my hair and a massive clump came out in my hand. So that's nice, Janice will have a field day, bald and gaunt ffs.
I'm also trying to go a further day or two between jabs, really not great, apart from the hunger, inflammation, water retention irritability, I put on a couple of pounds, probably water weight but felt bloated, I was going to jab today which would have been two days over, but caved and did it last night. Feel like I'm back to normal today, food noise in the background, no gnawing hunger, etc. really worrying as I do want to come off, I'd stay on them forever if they were affordable for me, but they're not.

Fatmumslim01 · 07/08/2025 11:37

I'm away this weekend at a friend's wedding and don't know what to do about my jab
Last week was my first week at 7.5 and so far so good although I had a massive headache for the first 24 hours post jab.
I'm due to jab tomorrow but I don't want a headache at the wedding on Saturday.
For the hen do a few months ago I skipped my usual Friday jab day and Jabbed on Sunday night when I came home but the hunger on the Saturday was unreal. That was when I was only on 2.5 though so a while ago.

What would you do if you were me? Jab and risk a headache but know I wont overeat or delay the jab and know I won't have side effects but also accepting I'll be hungry and probably eat too much (I'm not a big drinker tbh)

Puddingpiper · 07/08/2025 12:41

@Fatmumslim01coukd you microdose 3.75 as normal and then 3.75 4 days later?

I doubt that you will over eat to that extent given that you have more MJ in your system now. I would either jab today (thursday) or wait until sunday. splitting the dose is a good idea, but I don't think it will be like having no MJ in your system because it builds up. I missed a dose on holiday and could still feel the effects all the next week or so.

I had headache on first 7.5 which went away with increased water no se on subsequent jabs

I would suggest delaying the jab as you now have much more MJ in your system

im going hols end of the month, 2 days of jab and coming back 2 days after it’s due , instead of bringing with me I will jab 2 days late

Beinthepresent · 08/08/2025 11:49

Morning all. Weigh in day for me yesterday and lost a kilo.
Sw 104.9 kilos
Cw 85 kilos
Started with my big toe mound hurting this week but it was bearable until last night and then throbbing pains all through the night and GP today says he thinks it's Gout. Seems like excess uric acid can be caused by weight loss which causes gout. It is so painful. Also in the loosing hair camp now too. All those people who think using weight loss jabs is easy and cheating dont know how wrong they are!

GameOfJones · 08/08/2025 12:25

@Beinthepresent ouch I hope you're ok! Can they give you anything for it?

Beinthepresent · 08/08/2025 12:45

Hubby has just gone to the chemist to get my prescription. Not sure what it is yet!

GiveMeWordGames · 08/08/2025 14:12

Allopurinol probably. I hope it clears up soon, @Beinthepresent . Gout is nasty!
