Anyone starting Mounjaro this weekend?

Is anyone else starting Mounjaro this weekend and fancies a support thread please join along.

I did my first injection tonight. I absolutely hate needles but found it surprisingly ok, think my last pregnancy & a complicated birth has made me a little less sensitive!

End of week 4 weigh day and I’ve lost 12.5 lbs in 4 weeks. (Haven’t had full amount of 2.5mg) as trying to help the nausea. I’m pleased with that loss 😀 I have lost a size in clothes and need new bra’s and knickers. A good excuse to treat myself.

The weight is slowing down around 2lb a week now (first week was obviously a lot more). I need to drink more as I’m waking up really thirsty and had a few headaches. Nausea has gone last few days so I feel that from day 4 is my window to exercise before next jab.

Well done to everyone else!

Well done that's brilliant and shows you are on the right path taking a lower dose to suit your body.

Tmi but I've just started my period again! Only 3 weeks after having my last (which was a week early) so definitely being affected by MJ, anyone else had similar? I'll be honest I've been lucky with no other side effects but this is pretty rubbish

@DoingItForTheKids25My first period when starting MJ was a week late! And now I feel like I’m in my cycle where I’m going to come on again but I’m not due for two weeks. Who knows.

TouchOfSilverShampoo · 09/07/2025 06:29

Feeling a bit eurgh this week.

Waiting to go up to 5mg tomorrow and hopefully that’ll get my bowels moving because I haven’t gone in three days and I’m now getting uncomfortable.

Was more relaxed over the weekend and as a result I’ve only lost a pound this week (but official weigh in on Friday morning, so let’s see). Definitely need to up my game in terms of working out.

How is everyone getting on?

hope1000 · 09/07/2025 16:21

Hi all, I’m feeling nauseous still days1-4 every week despite having half of dose (1.25mg), even today after eating a very small lunch I still feel sick. Feel like it’s a big challenge but am torn with the thrill and delight of losing this weight that I am persevering. I’m getting into my old clothes and feel so happy that I want to go out more and enjoy my new body but the nausea lets me down. I’m in bed by 9, ditched the wine for sparkling water and the steak for soup! 😂 really hoping my body will adjust. At this rate I’ll be on the lower dose and will never need to move up.

I don’t have periods now so can’t help those with mj playing havoc with cycles.

what foods are people not able to tolerate? I really am struggling with a decent menu. Can’t seem to eat anything dairy, milky, white bread, pastry, oily, fatty, or spicy. So really am limited.

ForgottenFairy · 10/07/2025 15:24

Just went up to 5mg today, weight loss slowed after first week.
Going to try and drink more water.
SW 12 6
CW 11.11
TW 10..09
Loss 9 lb

Moderatelyobese · 10/07/2025 18:24

I’m doing my fourth jab tomorrow. Still feeling reasonable suppression, so sticking with 2.5 for the time being.

TouchOfSilverShampoo · 10/07/2025 19:04

@ForgottenFairyWent up to 5mg today today! Haven’t weighed (will do in the morning) but I doubt I’ve lost anything at all this last week. Good luck avoiding side effects!

DoingItForTheKids25 · 11/07/2025 07:46

Weigh in day today - less than 1kg off but a loss is a loss!
SW 95.9kg
CW 88.45kg
(Was 88.8kg last week)
How's everyone else doing?

Weigh day today - is it end of week 4?? - but can't weigh cos away from home. Weight loss was going really well but for next 3 weeks I can only go by measurements. Just took first 5mg jab !! Bit anxious about side effects, but will be blaming any nausea and tiredness on the ridiculous extreme heat lol. I'm finding it extra difficult because I haven't told anyone I.R.L. that I'm doing this. I can't tell my partner for various reasons, so hiding the side effects is hard. But I think I've been really lucky so far to have minor issues compared to some other posters on here.
Everybody seems to be having success which is brilliant!
I agree that drinking a lot of water is key.
I also eat smoked salmon, scrambled egg, cooked chicken, protein yoghurt, protein cereal bar things.
I have cut out all bread (which I ate A LOT of 😂), milk (I now have oat milk) cheese, sweets, chocolate, chips, snacks.
I have reduced pasta and rice.
Any time I do over-eat now, I really suffer for it with terrible indigestion.
If I wasn't using the jabs I would have given up way before now! I still get the urge to comfort eat when I'm stressed (anxiety issues) which is interesting. I haven't given into it for fear of the nausea / indigestion backlash 😂
Good Luck everyone 😊

YepIChangedMyNameForThis · 11/07/2025 18:22

@TouchOfSilverShampoo I also went to 5 last night, SE no worse than normal thankfully - a little nauseous first thing but ok now.
Just lost 1lb last week and the week before just 1lb!
10lbs off so far.
How is everyone else doing since going up to 5mg?

upinthecloudsagain · 11/07/2025 19:04

@ThatCoolDenimSquid are you travelling with your MJ? That must be hard if no one knows. I’ve only told my husband everyone else thinks I’m just being really disciplined 😂
2nd week of 5mg jab for me, weight loss is slowing down so having to really restrict my diet which isn’t the healthiest I know but I’m going on holiday in 3 weeks so needs must!

Yes I'm travelling - I put the pen in a cool bag on the journey, then in the fridge where I'm staying. I really don't want to the weight loss to slow down 😞 I feel like I'm eating hardly anything as it is 😂

ARGYLEMIKEY · 11/07/2025 20:09

Great work everyone.

End of Week 4 (I jab tomorrow) and another 3.5 pounds down. That is 13 pounds altogether.

I’m staying on 2.5mg. Still no side effects - maybe it’s different for blokes ? Anyway, I don’t want to push my luck, so 2.5 it is.

My technique is to micromanage. Everything is logged on Nutracheck. I’m only on 1200 calories mon to thurs but I do allow myself any extra calories earned through exercise, which in my case is walking.

Friday to Sunday is 1750 calorie plus exercise calories, so a little more relaxed.

All good here !

ForgottenFairy · 11/07/2025 22:30

Went up to 5mg, headache and nausea this morning,, which subsided. Managed some grapes at work and a salad for tea, felt unwell after, but has subsided now..

hope1000 · 12/07/2025 07:20

Week 5 just finished and weighing in with a 2lb loss. Total loss = 1 stone!! Really pleased with that 😄 can’t believe week 6 is here!

Seems to be averaging out at 2 lbs a week even though last few weeks have reduced to 1.75mg/2.00mg
I really can’t tolerate the full dose because I feel nauseous for 4 to 5 days out of 7 already. Food noise is back though at the end of week but if I start nibbling bad things the nausea hits so bad out of punishment I start praying for forgiveness to Mounjaro 🤣 so avoiding fats and treats for sure. Actually feel sick thinking about takeaways now. I have been feeling dizzy this week, maybe the. Heat has contributed also. I noticed I’ve tanned easier since being on it.

Well done everyone! I’m loving the new me (apart from the nausea)! Most of my clothes are too big now, feel so much happier and confident.

YepIChangedMyNameForThis · 12/07/2025 10:43

@ARGYLEMIKEY you are doing so well and great to hear about your calorie targets
@hope1000 big clothes is incredible, what a lovely feeling
@upinthecloudsagain you mention the having to restrict diet. I have to be honest this has been a shock I honestly thought weight would drop easier 🤣
@ThatCoolDenimSquid how is it going on the 5mg, any SE?
@DoingItForTheKids25 how are you doing?

ARGYLEMIKEY · 12/07/2025 12:35

Thinking about my “journey” to date and the help I’ve received on here, it suddenly struck me that most of us refer to these as “weight loss injections”. But that’s not really accurate, is it ?

You don’t lose any weight just from the injection. It’s doesn’t magically burn fat or anything. You still have to do the hard work on the calorie front yourself.

They’re more like “appetite suppressant injections”. Now I don’t have food noise and a constant raging appetite, I eat sensibly and based on my TDEE. I’m able to do that because of Mounjaro. Before it was possible - but incredibly difficult. Now I’m like everyone else who (and I hate this phrase) “knows when to stop eating”.

I suspect I’ll get the “it’s cheating !” thing when I tell certain people. So this will be my response !

Agree ?

YepIChangedMyNameForThis · 12/07/2025 20:36

I am still psychologically struggling with using them. I was one of those nobheads who was a bit judgey about it. What a hypocrite! My judgeyness came from people looking for praise but not admitting how they had done it. I also know two people who have had Weight loss surgery and not admitted it when people have asked for help. And here I am being secretive. I have to have surgery so am on a weight loss journey for that as well as vanity 🤣
I have really struggled in this heat today. I do think the tiredness of the jab has made it even worse, anyone else the same?

Well, amazingly no terrible side effects! I did feel bloated during the evening and some to with a headache. But nothing as bad as I was expecting! I'm really surprised. Today I could easily have eaten nothing at all, just drink😊 but that could also be down to the heat, which I cannot cope with lol 😆

vicster74 · 12/07/2025 21:00

I started at the end of April and have now lost over 2 stone. Best thing I have ever done. I so far have stayed on 2.5 but have a bestie and two work colleagues doing it too and they’ve all gone up. Best of luck!!

Yes completely agree 👍 having followed weight watchers program in the past (successfully but put it all back on) I found the hardest part was the hunger and the "wanting" food. Not feeling hungry all the time is miraculous. Not fancying sweets and cake, or chips or bread bread bread - amazing!

vicster74 · 12/07/2025 21:04

Yes I agree to, and it’s a learning curve… no you’re not hungry but make good choices when you do. You have to have changed the background habits. I’m proud that having been away abroad for a week, I still lost 1/2 lb. I know not a lot but we ate out a lot!

ARGYLEMIKEY · 13/07/2025 07:26

Did a sneaky interim weigh just now (Sunday morning) and it began with a 13 (just) for the first time in many, many years. That’s a stone lost.
I love Mounjaro!

YepIChangedMyNameForThis · 13/07/2025 08:45

@ARGYLEMIKEY the drop down to the lower bracket is a beautiful thing isn't it. Well done.

TouchOfSilverShampoo · 13/07/2025 11:07

Great to see you all doing so well!!!! I lost 2lb last weigh in so 16lbs now overall in five weeks which I’m chuffed with.

Got another stone to lose before holiday in 6 weeks.

Take my advice though - last night at a party I indulged way too much on the food and alcohol. The food weren’t bad options just too much quantity. And the cocktails, well, home mixed.

I got carried away and paid the price. The vomiting and upset stomach this morning have nearly finished me off. Lesson learned!!!! Hopefully I haven’t ruined my progress too much.

More nausea on 5mg but nothing too horrendous (unless I do what I did last night!)
