Anyone starting Mounjaro this weekend?

Is anyone else starting Mounjaro this weekend and fancies a support thread please join along.

I did my first injection tonight. I absolutely hate needles but found it surprisingly ok, think my last pregnancy & a complicated birth has made me a little less sensitive!

I am with medi express, price hike from 1st September which means lots of orders in right now before the price hike. Delays possible.

Moderatelyobese · 16/08/2025 08:19

1kg off this week, after moving up to 5 mg. Happy with the loss, but I definitely paid for it with side effects! Am going to go down a bit, to 3.75, today and see how that goes.

YepIChangedMyNameForThis · 16/08/2025 12:30

@Moderatelyobese hope the next week is better for you.
I have been on 5 for two pens (but did half a dose one week and 3.75 on another. No side effects the last few weeks and actually some hunger, more than I have experienced.

I have just ordered the 7.5. I wasn't going to go up to it BUT I am on a little push before an operation and would like to lose half a stone before it.

I am not sure what happens around the operation regarding WLI. Google searches say people stop a week before and start again a week after, the nurse said she would have to check but thought people stayed on it all the way through as it's the drug that diabetics use and they can't just stop. We'll see.

I am still only around a stone down but suddenly people are really noticing - happy days. I have only told a few people how I have done it. I am not lying just not focusing on the how I have done it. If asked directly I will.prbably say what I am doing.

SW 12.7
CW 11.6
TW 10 something really not sure till I get lower. At least a stone away.

How is everyone else doing, all still on the journey?

Moderatelyobese · 16/08/2025 13:25

@YepIChangedMyNameForThis Well done on the loss - it’s so nice when people start noticing!
Re the operation, it may well depend what it is, but a friend who had a major abdominal op recently was told to stop taking it two weeks beforehand.

Well done on your losses that’s amazing. I haven’t taken my latest dose as had a terrible cold and was the last thing I wanted to do, was worried it would make me feel worse. I’ve managed to still lose weight. Must say that I still haven’t regained my appetite and haven’t eaten anything more this week. I’m going to ween off over the next few weeks as I’m feeling so much better for not having it I’ve been able to exercise and eat far better without having it. My energy levels have gone up and don’t feel sick anymore. My eyesight is better, I think it made my eyes blurry?! 🤣. On a whole I just don’t think it agreed with me. I only managed to get up to the 2.5mg dose but still felt nauseous so calling it a day. I’ve lost 1 Stone and 10lbs in total in 10 weeks. Would like half a stone more off to be at my target, but think with the smaller appetite and exercise I can finish the job myself. Fingers crossed 🤞

Does anyone know how long to wean off? Or just go cold turkey as only forgot the first dose of 2.5mg pen!?

Moderatelyobese · 16/08/2025 21:00

1 stone 10 in 10 weeks is amazing! I think you can just stop if you were only on 2.5 mg.

TouchOfSilverShampoo · 21/08/2025 07:47

Hey guys!!! Well done on the amazing losses.

@hope1000You should be really proud for sticking it out because you really had a rough time!!! Amazing loss too. I must admit I’m looking forward to weaning off and feeling less lethargic!!

@YepIChangedMyNameForThisGood luck mixing up to 7.5, I think if you’ve tolerated the 5 well then you should be ok!!

@DoingItForTheKids25Yep I’m gutted about the price hikes too. It might mean I’ll have to stop, I’m close(ish) to target but I’m worried about my own willpower and piling the weight back on. I’m gonna try an order another pen beforehand. And well done on the loss!!!! You’re a third of the way there already!!!

@ModeratelyobeseI was similar when I first started 5 but it settled quite quickly!!

Have now lost 2st 2lbs - which I’m super pleased with. I can wear my clothes again!! My face looks totally different. My fingers aren’t puffy any more.

I go on holiday next week and it’s the first time in probably five years I don’t feel hideous. I do have a lot of loose skin though and I feel very wobbly but fuck it.

Im taking my pen with me (I have a cool pouch for the case.) Does anyone know if there are any particular rules I need to follow about taking it with me??

I have about another half a stone to go and then I’ll stop. Hopefully the holiday doesn’t take me way off track!

ARGYLEMIKEY · 23/08/2025 09:25

Re the airport rules - we made sure we had our pen boxes packed in our hand luggage, just in case anyone asked. But the jabs sailed through. You won’t be the first of the day with MJ jabs that they’ll have seen. BTW, you can see where our week in Northern Portugal (followed by a week in Wales) happened from my Shotzy graph. I weigh twice daily at home and actually bought a spare pair of scales in Wales (!) - HomeBargains in Cardigan for £6.99 - as I felt I was losing control of the situation otherwise. Tactics worked, with just a small increase over the fortnight.

I recently moved up to 5mg - and in my second week lost 4.5lbs. Very happy with that - and with being over halfway to my 3 stone loss target. I’m continuing to micromanage my calories (1650 daily), as well as the borderline obsessive weighing. It makes Mrs AM laugh, but works for me.

I’m with Bolt. Hoping I can stick to 5mg as their prices get really silly from 7.5mg. Orforglipron can’t be approved soon enough !

Well done everyone. MJ is a game changer, but we still need to do the work.

Hi how's everyone doing? Life has been so busy over the past month but its weigh day today and I've reached my 3 stone milestone which I'm really proud of. Not sure about anyone else but this third stone came off much more easily & quicker than the other two! Only 2 more to go (still undecided on my target weight will see how I feel when I get closer)

I'm also almost at 20kg total loss. I'm still on 5mg Mounjaro as the price increase made increasing my dosage unaffordable but its still working well and I do sometimes forget to eat altogether.

Just reached my 2 stone loss, I went up to 7.5 and found that I could stretch it to 10 days. I also joined the gym about 2 months ago and that is really helping keep me focused, plus I'm really enjoying it. I've ordered 1.0 of weygovy, using some vouchers I had it cost £83. So I'll let you know how I get on. I originally just wanted to get down to a size 12. But now I'm here, I'm going to push on a bit and see where I end up.
How is everyone else doing ?

I have been MIA for a while. Had the planned surgery (on leg). Haven't weighed since before the surgery. Had to stop WLI prior to the op and I went back on it last week. After a break you have to start back at 2.5 which is fine.
I did get an email from MedExpress this week, even the 2.5 mg price is shooting up now, I think to £180. It is definitely going to limit people's usage.

YepIChangedMyNameForThis · 03/12/2025 06:29

I hope everyone is doing ok?

Anyone still on MJ.

Anyone stopped and got an update?
