Thread EIGHT - blimey we talk a lot! 😄 Anyone using weight loss injections to lose more than 5st/30lbs is very welcome, no matter what stage of the process you are no.

We're high on protein, low on carbs, upping the water and getting the fibre in any which way we can!

Im not really sure what that means but considering I've lost i think it's 94lb total I still embarrassingly weigh almost 400lb

Wow, there’s 20% less of you now than there was, that’s pretty impressive, definitely s9mething to be pleased about!

Your TdEE likely is reasonably high because a explained above it takes more energy to move and exist at a higher weight than at a lower weight.

its worth rechecking it every now and then using an online calculator because it can be a simple explanation for why your new routine of eating isn’t working as well as it did, because you need to reduce your intake by a bit or increase your activity(it’s usually easier to cut the food, you need to do a lot of exercise to gain a few extra calories).

InfoSecInTheCity · 04/06/2025 21:32

So as mentioned above, I’ve been at a conference the last couple of days, met up with a couple of people I haven’t seen in years and it was really hard to bite back the laugh when they did a double take after not recognising me at first, then very awkwardly side stepped around saying anything about the fact I’m half the size I was when they last saw me 😄

I’ve been on MJ for just under 5 months @Sam187.

I have to admit that I was so ashamed about how much weight I put on over the last year that although my Hubbie knows I am on MJ he thinks I have lost 2.5 stones as I didn’t want him knowing how big I got.

That's amazing progress in 5 months, you should be so proud 🥰

Maybe you should build up to telling him how much you've really lost - rather than downplay it and be ashamed, be proud that you've took control and come so far already ❤️

@MabelSpan thank you uour post has really helped with perspective and also @MooBaggage I'm liking the spreadsheet idea where would i find that??

I'm tpo early in the process to get my head around everything but how do i work out my TEE?
Thank you all for sharing so openly...

I can send you my spreadsheet tomorrow if you want? I don't know how to share it like @InfoSecInTheCity did with hers - and hers is brilliant, so I think should somehow be pinned to all our threads!

I'll attempt to send you mine tomorrow though via DM!

@Reginaphalangeeeee

You just inspired me to do some BMI maths to break my journey down too.

I'm starting at a BMI of 41. For me to get to 35 I need to lose 17kg. Big initial ask, but I'm hopeful that I can reach that by mid-sept. Roughly 1kg a week.

After that, it would take another 15kg to get into 'Overweight' - an area I don't think I've been in since my teens, and never thought possible. But, if I keep consistent, I could potentially get there by the end of Jan (give or take a few maintains over xmas/ holidays in between).

So from now to 'overweight' would be 32kg. Rather than stop my brain there, I've gone to the depths of 'normal', which would require another 15kg. If I can break it down into 3 similar increments, it's possible.

That would be 47kg in total - life changing. Big goals, but recognising them is half the battle :)

Sam my starting BMI was higher than yours (45.4)
I began in Jan at 136kg.
I am now 112 kg

That first Jump to getting under 40 felt great. Took 18 kg to get there!
You can do it

Darlinghag · 05/06/2025 11:24

Hello everyone! I’m back from hols! Omg - a new thread and this many pages in?? Wild!!

Surprisingly, I have not put on tons of weight as I had imagined on my holiday. Only around 1lb!

Considering it was the US, and a rural area where I was mostly beholden to other people’s wants, I did well. i tried to make the best choices, and where MJ kept me fuller, used the old ‘digestive issues’ excuses to keep me from looking obvious. I also went to the supermarket for breakfast and snacks so I could make the best choices for those foods.

Its good to be home though. Tomorrow my food shop comes and I will fall back into routine then, and track. Today, I am too jetlagged from my flight and maybe will have a takeaway of some kind. I have gotten back into water habits today though as I am definitely dehydrated!

I’d had a couple of shit weeks before the holiday, so I am calling May a write off - weight wise I am back where I was then! I will officially weigh in Saturday to allow a little time for water weight to drop off and go from there!

Good MJ related things from the holiday:

  • plane seat was not a struggle, at all!! Plenty of room in the belt, wasn’t too close to my seat mates. I knew i would be ok, as flew easy jet last year at a size 22/24 and just about fit, but it was nice to see the difference! Tray table went down properly too.
  • felt good in my fancy ocassion dresses!! Even though they dont feel my style anymore and I struggled to find ones i liked, it was good to throw them on and not pull at fabric or think they were too tight.
  • bought clothes away - didnt try them on, and they fit!!
  • MJ really did help my digestive issues, hardly touched lopermide out there. Also has made me aware how much stress impacts my gut!!
  • Hardly sweat!! The weather got very hot at times and I barely sweat - felt warm, was not dripping! Even when walking a lot!!
  • the weightloss has definitely given me confidence. I did a lot of this trips travel alone - and spent 2 days in a US city completely by myself. I swear it made me feel confident about doing it!!

In other news, reordered my prescription. I’m still with ASDA - i know, i keep saying i’m moving!! BUT the price has dropped significantly?? 10mg was £164 instead of £193??? The 12.5mg was still over £200 though, but the lower doses all dropped price the lower you went - I am sure the 2.5mg was something like £120??? Has something happened with MJ costs across the board??

hope everyone is well - i will try and catch up but i dont think i will manage the other thread too!

SilenceInside · 05/06/2025 11:39

@Darlinghag you're right about Asda, they have changed and reduced their prices. I used them for my first few orders, then moved to Zava as they were always cheaper and essentially the same company as Asda use them for fulfillment.

I think Asda might have stopped doing referral codes? So maybe that's why they have reviewed their prices.

MooBaggage · 05/06/2025 14:22

Welcome back @Darlinghag ! And only 1lb on is amazing 😄

HUGE NSV for me today - my new (to me) size 18 jeans arrived from Vinted - and I can get them on!!

Are they absolutely skin tight even though they're 'straight' not 'skinny' - yes - but do they button up and I can breathe? Yes!

Am just gobsmacked by this. They look tiny to me when I pick them up, but somehow I fit in them. Will probably wait a couple of weeks before I wear them out and about, but when I unwrapped them out of the parcel and looked at them, I was 100% sure I wouldn't even be able to get them up my legs. So am really chuffed.

Haven't weighed this week - that's on the list for tomorrow morning. Am really hoping to see some change as if not, it'll be 2 weeks without losing anything - but I think my shape is changing and I'll ride the joy of size 18 jeans for a while now anyway 😀

RobinEllacotStrike · 05/06/2025 14:38

Welcome back from your hols @Darlinghag !!

That is wonderful about the jeans @MooBaggage - you will be wearing them comfortably before too long.

I ran out of ripe 🥝🥝 & now I'm not looing properly and feeling rough. I'm 57 and still get "PMT" occasionally which combined with being a bit consitpated makes me feel quite miserable. <sigh>

alwaysscared · 05/06/2025 14:50

Urgh, I’m not well. I thought I was aching from doing 2 runs this week but no, the fever has hit now and my body really hurts. The problem is that the MJ seems to have stopped MJing and I’m eating so much crap. I would always do this before when I was ill (have never been someone whose appetite goes when feeling poorly like this, it ramps up 🙄) Should I just say f* it for a few days or track what I’m eating?? I’m just making myself miserable again. I’m not weighing myself at the moment either, and I feel guilty about that too. I feel like I should hold myself accountable, but at the same time feel like I should give myself a break?!

alwaysscared · 05/06/2025 14:53

Also, can someone do the maths for me? How much would I have to syringe out of the 7.5mg pen to get 9mg?

InfoSecInTheCity · 05/06/2025 15:45

I would absolutely allow yourself to eat more BUT good food, not junk food, not biscuits, chocolate and sweets. Eat more protein, more veg, more fat. If you’re craving comfort foods then look up some keto hack desserts and give those a try, things like chocolate protein shake mixed into Greek yoghurt and whipped to a mouse or frozen into icecream, or chocolate peanut butter mug cakes made in the microwave with almond flour, or options hot chocolate drinks (although whenever I feel poorly I instinctively make hot squash because my mum always made hot ribena when I was a kid and poorly)

The logic behind that is that your body needs fuel to fight the illness, sugar will give you a momentary lift but not much in the way of nutritional value that will help you get better. You need vitamins and minerals and energy. It will also help to make it easier to reduce again when you do feel better because you won’t be fighting a newly restarted sugar binge and crash cycle. You also know that your diabetes will cope better with reduced sugar and illness can cause blood sugar increases all by itself so you don’t want to make that worse.

SilenceInside · 05/06/2025 15:50

alwaysscared · 05/06/2025 14:53

Also, can someone do the maths for me? How much would I have to syringe out of the 7.5mg pen to get 9mg?

I make that 0.72ml. 9 / 7.5 = 1.2 so 9mg is 7.5mg multiplied by 1.2. A full dose is 0.6ml, so 0.6 * 1.2 gives 0.72ml.

(Please check the maths and the reasoning)

alwaysscared · 05/06/2025 15:51

@InfoSecInTheCity yes, you are right. I said I’m eating crap, but it’s not really that crap, just eating more than I normally would of the same stuff and adding a bit of chocolate (I have recently discovered tru fru and they are delicious!) I have eaten quite a few jelly babies today though 😬
I’m going to try and have my usual evening food, but I did get my husband to pick me up some grapes (I had totally given them up for a couple of weeks). I’ll get back on track when feeling better!

alwaysscared · 05/06/2025 15:53

@SilenceInside thanks for that

@alwaysscared no worries, and I hope you're feeling better soon.

@SilenceInside thank you, me too

Jfw82 · 05/06/2025 16:33

End of week 46 and today I’ve hit exactly 40kg lost! BMI now 22.5. Ideally looking to lose a further 12 lbs which would be 100lbs and BMI of 20.7. Have maintenance call booked with Oushk as I’d like to try tapering down doses

hello to all recent joiners and good luck with your journeys !

mince3point14159265 · 05/06/2025 16:47

Wow! Congratulations @Jfw82 , that must feel absolutely amazing! Well done! 🎉👏🥳

Slowrunning · 05/06/2025 18:23

Wow @Jfw82 that is absolutely amazing 🤩

taylorswift1989 · 05/06/2025 19:49

I'm not sure whether to go up a dose or not. Am on week 3 of 5mg and it feels like it's not really doing much for me. Except today, it feels like I'm getting more satiety and less food noise.

I'm wondering if it's because I've been eating more carbs/sweet things. The last couple of days I've got back on track with my food and MJ is working better? Could that be it?

On the other hand, 5mg is still a fairly low dose. Maybe it makes sense to go up a bit as I don't think I'm getting the full benefit of MJ as others on here seem to be.

Any advice?

Zebracat · 05/06/2025 20:11

I think it definitely could be that, MJ sorts out your blood sugar, but if you keep putting sugar in then it can’t really work.

SilenceInside · 05/06/2025 20:17

@taylorswift1989 you could always do a 5mg dose from a 7.5mg pen if you get to that point and realise you don’t want to go up yet. And/or do interim steps up to 7.5mg.
