Thread EIGHT - blimey we talk a lot! 😄 Anyone using weight loss injections to lose more than 5st/30lbs is very welcome, no matter what stage of the process you are no.

We're high on protein, low on carbs, upping the water and getting the fibre in any which way we can!

Please don't post discount codes as your post will be deleted - these need to go on the discount codes thread.

I think it definitely could be that, MJ sorts out your blood sugar, but if you keep putting sugar in then it can’t really work.

I haven't been eating loads of sugar but maybe any sugar is too much? I was having more potatoes, pasta etc but smaller portions of those than I would have before. Have been much lower carb the past few days.

Yeah I think maybe this is the key to it! But maybe I still also need to go up a dose.

taylorswift1989 · 05/06/2025 20:25

SilenceInside · 05/06/2025 20:17

@taylorswift1989 you could always do a 5mg dose from a 7.5mg pen if you get to that point and realise you don’t want to go up yet. And/or do interim steps up to 7.5mg.

Very true. I was doing 3.75 from a 5mg pen before this so I would probably just go up slightly at first. I guess if I order the higher dose pen it gives me the option.

Thanks!

Hotflushesandchilblains · 05/06/2025 21:05

I am disappointed my new pen is another 5mg. Have lost .9kg this week, so now 6kg down in 7 weeks. Wish it was going faster thought. I need to exercise, but finding the time is so hard........ Any tips - I walk my dogs every day, but one is elderly and the other is a pug, so we dont go far these days!

MooBaggage · 05/06/2025 21:23

@taylorswift1989 I'm currently taking 6.25mg from a 7mg pen because my suppression waned a bit after a few weeks on 5mg. 6.25mg seems to be good so far, so maybe go up in stages?

I agree that the carbs/sugar will be not helping in terms of appetite/food noise suppression. Keep upping the protein and lowering carbs and maybe nudge up to 6mg/6.25mg to see if it makes a difference?

I'm trying to stay on as low dose as possible as it's going to take another 14 months to get to goal - am dreading maxing out before then and having nowhere to go, but it's tricky to know how much is the right amount from week to week!

MooBaggage · 05/06/2025 21:27

@Hotflushesandchilblains I can definitely recommend getting handweights - easy to do while you're watching telly and surprisingly effective - I've noticed more muscle and a change in shape since I've been using mine regularly.

Hello! 👋

I started Mounjaro exactly one week ago. did my first weigh in today:

SW 100kg
CW 97.3kg
GW 64kg

Am so excited to have lost 2.7kg in a week! Deep down I know it’s probably water weight, I wont be seeing that kind of loss going forward. Still, it’s doubled my motivation.

I gained a lot of weight after developing an autoimmune disease that stops me from exercising. I just kind of gave up thinking I could ever be a healthy weight again.

Thanks everyone for being so open and honest about your experiences on Mumsnet. I’ve been lurking for a while, and you’ve inspired me to go on this weight loss journey.

MooBaggage · 05/06/2025 22:13

@MountainsAndSheep Hello 😊👋 welcome and that's a great start! Keep going and fingers crossed for a smooth MJ journey!

2lbs off, after a week of upping the water and getting back to smaller portions - and getting rid of that random pesky period!

SW 20 st 3lbs. BMI 43
CW 16 st 11lbs. BMI 35.7

Feels good to be more firmly in the 16s and over halfway to my first big target of 192lbs (my favourite bus number and will be a BMI of 29 😀).

Jfw82 · 05/06/2025 16:33

End of week 46 and today I’ve hit exactly 40kg lost! BMI now 22.5. Ideally looking to lose a further 12 lbs which would be 100lbs and BMI of 20.7. Have maintenance call booked with Oushk as I’d like to try tapering down doses

hello to all recent joiners and good luck with your journeys !

That is amazing @Jfw82 will be interested to know more about maintenance advice and your experience. I’ve got a long way to go before that, but the practical know-how on this thread at each stage is so helpful.

@NervyWegovy you are doing so amazingly too - so impressed at people’s losses and the way we all keep on keeping on.

ANutAsBigAsABoulder · 06/06/2025 11:17

I’m close to the end of week 13 and people are finally starting to notice that some of my kitchen roll is gone :D

SW: 119.3kg / 18.7 stone - BMI 49
CW: 104.9 / 16.5 stone - BMI 43.1
Current interim goal: to see 99kg on the scales.

Am still on 5mg and intending to stick with it for now as it’s working well. Still having a few side effects, but they’re generally manageable.

dimples76 · 06/06/2025 15:15

@MooBaggage I was feeling rather envious of you being under 17 stones as I think we started about the same time at the same weight but I am nearly there, just hovering over 17 stones, so maybe next week! Although I am actually doing my weight in kg - it somehow seems less bad to me!

SW 129kg BMI 46.3
CW 108.5kg BMI 38.9

I think I am going to order my second 7.5mg pen but keep jabbing at about 6 as I have been suffering with vomiting and diarrhoea which is not so lovely

MooBaggage · 06/06/2025 15:33

@dimples76 Definitely! We're both doing really well - just got to keep going... 💪

Thanks for the kind words everyone and congrats theres a lot to catch up on but it seems like most are doing really well.

For me its interesting went to the garden centre today and normally we go with the best intentions but a cake, hot chocolate or fried foods sneak in but today just kept to a jacket potato with prawns and a small bit of cheese and tea.

No real desire for a cake or to have unhealthy food and I guess this is one of the first times I get the kind of suppression mindset which id originally took to mean of appetite/ feeling full. We just said we didn't really need it/ fancy it and that was it out of my mind instead of pondering it until we had something.

Considering my weight and how I very rarely felt full I was a bit iffy and expected id need to be on the higher doses but I take my second injection tomorrow morning so it makes me wonder what it'll be like when I'm on the top dose.

At slimming world its always asked " anything challenging for you this week?" And genuinely each day feels a bit of a struggle as desires of unhealthy foods or excessive amounts come but if it continues like this then ill be very happy, even if it is a placebo effect currently.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 06/06/2025 17:02

Weekly weigh in
SW 110kg
CW 88.4kg
GW 64kg
Weekly Loss -1kg
Total loss - 21.6kg

Really pleased that I am back on track. I effectively plateaued for around 5 months due to some health issues. I kept the same dose and despite 14 weeks of steroids only put on a couple of kg.

I have been on MJ for a year now and I am around half way due to the plateau. I had always seen this as a 2-3 year process of losing then actively working on maintenance until I had an effective long term approach. Knowing that I did manage to maintain my losses for 5 months despite the medical stuff is a real boost.

OnwardsDownwards · 06/06/2025 18:17

@NervyWegovy thats very much how I feel. I went to the supermarket today and just bought what was on my list. No sandwich for the drive home, no sneaky bag of donuts or cookies. Previously I would absolutely not have been able to resist. It’s so simple but so enormous!

QueenOfHiraeth · 06/06/2025 19:59

I'm back from my holidays, totally fecked off and hoping my gain is just fluid retention, etc. I've apparently gained 2.5kg in a week which, logically, I know is not possible as I didn't consume an extra 10,000+ calories but I'm still fecked off 😡😡😡
It was a lazy holiday and we did eat out every day, alcohol was consumed but not nearly food or drink as I'd have had pre-MJ. I didn't have breakfast as still full after eating out the evening before (who am I anyway???) so just had cups of tea then had a clear protein mid-morning and a light lunch. Although I lay around and read a lot we walked each evening to eat out so I got more steps than my average day at home

Nice one

Yeah am currently out at Bingo and the smell of fried food ( and I'm a slave to cheesy chips) and i haven't been tempted. I just feel like i shouldn't be feeling as different as I am so I feel its likely a placebo but either way I'll take it ( as should anyone else 😅)

I read and watched so much about WLI but now I'm on it I'm not sure what I expected but it's odd.

How many injections have you done?

MooBaggage · 06/06/2025 20:15

@NervyWegovy I've written before about this but before MJ I was a complete sugar addict and alcoholic - ate bags of Haribo and had multiple gins/bottles of wine every evening. All desire to do that has completely gone and I genuinely am still flabbergasted about it all.

I haven't had a single sweet, biscuit or piece of chocolate since 13th January. I have had alcohol - had a large gin tonight - but just a couple at the weekends with dp and nothing during the week.

My mind is blown but my body has switched its triggers off and I just don't crave stuff any more.

Bonkers. I hope they are doing lots of research on MJ and addictions, because I've heard from others that it helps lots of people with alcohol/nicotine addictions.

Yeah its mental how it just seemed to turn off.

It reminds me of what Oprah said about it when I was looking it up:

"One of the things that I realized the very first time I took a GLP-1 was that all these years I thought that thin people had more willpower," she confessed. "They ate better foods. They were able to stick to it longer. They never had a potato chip.

And then I realized the very first time I took the GLP-1, that they're not even thinking about it. They're eating when they're hungry and they're stopping when they're full"

And you kind of read it and whilst taking it in I don't think you actually properly get it until you experience it and its weird as I'm still at the start of understanding that myself.

Congrats on being able to control it for these months

alltablenochair · 06/06/2025 23:26

Same here for me. Pre MJ J could easily eat a whole family size bar of chocolate in an evening (and often did). It just doesn't hold any appeal for me now. One or two squares, yes but not the whole lot.

Not only do I have a raging cold but I also have an ear infection in my left ear. Paracetamol for the cold and spray for the ear infection. Thankfully it's the ear I am already deaf in so at least I can't get any deafer. My usual reaction for this would be to wallow in my own misery and eat lots. Now I'm just going for the one person pity party.

Ooh family size bar of chocolate, AKA the bar size that id eat in literally two minutes( and I mean literally) biting from the bar, hardly chewing and going for another bite.

Im not sure that many actually do eat it as a family (I guess my opinion would be skewed) but I'm sure even if people do eat it all it's over a longer period of time.b

AnneinEdinburgh · 07/06/2025 02:07

And don't get me started on those 'sharing' bags of Revels/chocolate buttons/m&Ms. Who shares them?

I'm on 12.5 at the moment and the only food I fancy is toast and a glass of milk. Must push through it, drink more pesto bismol and water (even that tastes wrong) and get back to the protein and veggies.

SilenceInside · 07/06/2025 11:26

Happy Saturday to everyone!

Week 48 weigh in.

SW: 139kg (21st 12 lbs)
CW: 85kg (13st 5lbs), was 85.7kg (13st 6lbs), last week.
GW: 81kg (12st 11 lbs) fifth interim goal

Current pen: 10mg, 4 weeks on this dose.

Happy with a 07.kg/1.5 pound loss this week, bringing me to 8st 7lbs loss altogether, or 54kg. So far 10mg is doing a great job, no side effects and everything feels on a very even keel at the moment. I would really like to get to 13st or less by the time I get to 52 weeks and the full year on Mounjaro. That would put me just into the Overweight category and finally out of the Obese range. I think it might be possible!
