Thread EIGHT - blimey we talk a lot! 😄 Anyone using weight loss injections to lose more than 5st/30lbs is very welcome, no matter what stage of the process you are no.

We're high on protein, low on carbs, upping the water and getting the fibre in any which way we can!

Did a bit of BMI maths myself.

Based on my height and starting weight in October 2024 I had a BMI of 45.

I currently have a BMI of 35. To date I have lost 30kg. This is giving me an average loss of around 3.75kg per month.

To get to a BMI of overweight (I.e. 30) I would need to lose 45kg. This would be around October this year.

To get to a BMI of healthy weight (i.e. 25) I would need to lose 61kg. This would be around February 2026.

The lightest I can ever remember myself being would give me a BMI of 28.7.

This is just a bit of basic maths (and chatGPT!) based on what I am losing so far. However it's worth pointing out that weight loss isn't linear, and neither do I expect to lose exactly 3.75kg every month. May take longer, may take shorter. Who knows?

Having a slight wobble in my head.. lost 6 stone now since the end of September. Every week I have lost something apart from Christmas when I maintained.....yet last week put on 2 lbs and looking like will be another 2lbs on this week :( Nothing changed in terms of intake and still really good suppression on 7.5. Don't want to go as won't end up eating anything!

A really lovely post @MabelSpan. So positive, I was brave to actually do some obesity maths.
I actually just went on a BMI calculator to work out how much to get to each BMI calculator…
For me: 7kg to get BMI under 35.
This feels doable over next 2-3 months. Ok

Getting into ‘overweight catagory’
22kg off from current weight. Ok nearly but not quiet as much as I have lost since Jan… so maybe by Christmas 🤷‍♀️

That is normally where my brain stops going as I don't remember being ever much below that, but to get to ‘normal’
Wow… that's another 15kg.

I mean… coldd sweat. 62 kg over normal 😬 9st 10lbs!
Eeekkk still not sure that is doable so just currently going for ‘loose the same amount that you already have done’ approach for now. That would be 50kg total and fabulous.

@Reginaphalangeeeee

You just inspired me to do some BMI maths to break my journey down too.

I'm starting at a BMI of 41. For me to get to 35 I need to lose 17kg. Big initial ask, but I'm hopeful that I can reach that by mid-sept. Roughly 1kg a week.

After that, it would take another 15kg to get into 'Overweight' - an area I don't think I've been in since my teens, and never thought possible. But, if I keep consistent, I could potentially get there by the end of Jan (give or take a few maintains over xmas/ holidays in between).

So from now to 'overweight' would be 32kg. Rather than stop my brain there, I've gone to the depths of 'normal', which would require another 15kg. If I can break it down into 3 similar increments, it's possible.

That would be 47kg in total - life changing. Big goals, but recognising them is half the battle :)

Just checking in. I've got 3 and a half stone to lose. I lost 5 stone without weight loss injections, then got stuck. Took Wegovy for 5 months and lost another 2 stone. Then I had to pause because of finances. I started again 3 weeks ago on Mounjaro and I've been on the lowest dose, but so far it's done nothing to suppress my appetite, which I am quite surprised about. When I was using Wegovy I noticed a difference shortly after my second injection. I had high hopes for Mounjaro,as it's called the 'King Kong' of weight loss injections. Subsequently,I've not lost any weight so far, just remained the same. I've requested the next dose up for the coming month and I'm hoping that will have an effect. Is this usual with Mounjaro?

Ok, don’t panic or feel downhearted.

Let’s break it down, that’s what is always do when I have a gain or plateau.

Your weight has changed since you started have you been recalculating your TDEE every stone or so to check your calorie allowance? As you get smaller your calorie needs will change and you’ll need less to continue to lose weight.

Water? Are you drinking enough?
Too little sleep, or too much stress can cause hormone changes which cause water retention which looks like weight gain on the scales.
Hormones, bloody hormones, are you due on your period, I always retain the week before.
Exercise, if you are doing more then you need rest days and more water, sore muscles means little tears in the muscle fibres which is what causes them to grow bigger and stronger. That whole healing process uses water so your body will retain it to facilitate that action.
More carbs/salt - both will cause water retention

Cantwaituntiltheyareover · 04/06/2025 17:51

@InfoSecInTheCity Thanks for that....I know it all makes sense but knocked me a bit.....but also I haven't given in and eaten the crap that I normally would have done when it got like this. Was about 3lb away from only being overweight, which I never thought would happen, now it's around 6lb away so annoying! Couple of weeks ago aye hardly anything and lost 3lb, probably now recalibrating. Lots of stress and more carbs. Had not recalculated TDEE but probably just what I've eaten rather than too much thinking about it....definitely drinking more again as been to the loo 4 times already!

taylorswift1989 · 04/06/2025 18:46

Sizes are weird and unhelpful for me! I just got a t-shirt from Asda in size 22 and another t-shirt from M&S in 16! I don't feel like I've got any smaller, although I did have my first person ask me if I'd lost some weight. I feel I look enormous as ever.

I'm still on 5mg and not much suppression of food noise which is a bit frustrating but I intend to go up a dose in a couple of weeks. I'm way better at stopping eating after a reasonable portion but still struggling to say no to carbs and treats. Just trying to treat it as a long game. Will weigh myself in a couple of weeks and hope to have lost a bit more. Have lost 1.5 stone since starting in mid-March.

NervyWegovy · 04/06/2025 19:20

So halfway through the week and mentally had a wobble yesterday as wasn't feeling great just head-y but hadn't really drunk Monday due to the weigh in and then kinda binged bad food.

Still getting the feeling of not needing to eat. Today I've had two jacket potatos using laughing cow lightest instead of butter and one tin of tuna and lighter mayo this was at 11:30am and had some homemade mushroom soup at about 5-5:30 and meant to be making Chow mein for the family I'm already lagging behind but I just don't feel like eating right now

NervyWegovy · 04/06/2025 19:27

Oh i forgot two plums and an apricot in between jacket potato and soup

NervyWegovy · 04/06/2025 19:34

For reference my fitness pal reckons I can have 2750 calories and still lose 2lb a week

Zebracat · 04/06/2025 19:42

I’m out today at a sporting event with a lovely picnic including cake, and I’ve had Quite a lot. I’m trying to tell myself that 1 piece of cake won’t keep me fat forever, but what if eating freely today releases the beast?

That would equate to a TDEE of 3750kcal. Does that sound about right with your current activity levels?

Im not really sure what that means but considering I've lost i think it's 94lb total I still embarrassingly weigh almost 400lb

SilenceInside · 04/06/2025 19:47

@NervyWegovy I make food for the family and then have a small portion for me these days. I've learnt not to think that I need to serve myself a full large plate like I used to.

@Zebracat I get the same feeling sometimes about releasing the food monster, but Mounjaro makes it possible to tame that beast, reset, and not end up spiralling, for me so far anyway.

‘TDEE’ means ‘total energy expenditure’. It takes more energy to move a bigger body around so it’s normal for our TDEE to be very high at first. As you lose weight you need to recalculate as it takes less energy to move a smaller body around. I’ve lost just under 9st and my TDEE has dropped by about 1000kcal overall on comparatively active days.

We have to lose weight the way we intend to keep it off. You probably don’t intend never to have another piece of cake in your lifetime, so you can have one today!

This is why food addiction is so hard to beat. We can’t cut our addictive substance out altogether in the way that an ex-smoker can, for example. We have to make friends with it instead.

@MabelSpan thank you uour post has really helped with perspective and also @MooBaggage I'm liking the spreadsheet idea where would i find that??

I'm tpo early in the process to get my head around everything but how do i work out my TEE?
Thank you all for sharing so openly...

Zebracat · 04/06/2025 20:44

Thanks all. You are right. And the picnic covered 2 meals, and the cake was delicious, I would have left it if it wasn’t and that is progress!

I had two mini cherry cupcakes today @Zebracat and really enjoyed them, they were delicious. Before Mounjaro I would have eaten the whole packet of them, so definitely progress on that front. I think denying ourselves and thinking of foods as bad or off limits can definitely be counterproductive.

Slowrunning · 04/06/2025 21:09

Loving the calculation posts today. The very fact that we are even daring to think about getting to a normal weight is so bloody amazing!!

I am now just a couple of pounds away from a 4stone loss and yesterday weighed at 80.0kg - I have been desperate to get into the 70s but now I am almost there I am self-sabotaging! Does anyone else do this?
Yesterday and today I have eaten loads of rubbish. I have not eaten crisps for months but have had 3 packets in the last 24hrs! Also sweets, yoghurt coated raisins and today at a buffet I ate 2 bits of cake 😫

Calorie wise it’s not an absolute disaster but it’s definitely not good and I am feeling pretty crap tonight.

If you Google ‘TDEE calculator’ there are lots online. I wear a Fitbit and use their calculation They are also bundled into tracking options like My Fitness Pal. You will need to input your height, weight, age and sex, and give your activity level. A lot of people overestimate this. Unless you have a very active job where you are on your feet most of the day, eg nursing or waitressing, put ‘sedentary’.

It's so refreshing to see us even thinking along those lines isn't it? ☺️

If you don't mind me asking, how long has it taken you to lose the 4st?

Totally understand self sabotage, but what I would say is bottle the feeling of feeling crappy tonight. You've binged and haven't enjoyed that. Tap into it next time to help you stop a little sooner.

These things happen though, right back at it tomorrow 💕

This will be me tomorrow and Saturday! Feeling nervous. I’m making the picnic so there’s healthy stuff in there, but it’s for people that also don’t know I’m on MJ, so will have to have cake too.

Slowrunning · 04/06/2025 21:26

I’ve been on MJ for just under 5 months @Sam187.

I have to admit that I was so ashamed about how much weight I put on over the last year that although my Hubbie knows I am on MJ he thinks I have lost 2.5 stones as I didn’t want him knowing how big I got.
