Thread EIGHT - blimey we talk a lot! 😄 Anyone using weight loss injections to lose more than 5st/30lbs is very welcome, no matter what stage of the process you are no.

We're high on protein, low on carbs, upping the water and getting the fibre in any which way we can!

Please don't post discount codes as your post will be deleted - these need to go on the discount codes thread.

@alwaysscared your body is impressively stubborn...! You've lost so much weight and I know you're trying everything you can - hopefully 10mg will give the push needed - and honestly I'm in awe of you battling through it 💪❤

Thanks @MooBaggage

Timetofindme · 02/06/2025 12:16

@alwaysscared surgery done and glad I decided not to inject, the anaesthetist said they like you to have at least a week off beforehand due to the delayed gastric emptying - means the cutoff time they give you for stopping eating doesn't give you enough time for your stomach to empty cos its slower cos of MJ (hopefully I'm explaining that properly I'm on lots of painkillers 😂)

MabelSpan · 02/06/2025 12:22

Hello everyone!

I have hit the 5 stone lost mark! I have been on MJ for 42 weeks, still averaging 1.7lbs a week which is what I have been from the start. Some weeks I dont lose, some weeks I gain but the stats speak for themselves and I am over the moon to be still losing at this steady rate.
Another nsv is its also 25% of my body weight!
I have 3 stone 9.4lbs to reach my ultimate goal. Hopefully I will reach that by next Spring.
SW Aug 24 20st 3lbs
CW June 25 15st 2.4lbs

Welcome to all the newbies, there are so many of you but I am cheering each and every one of you on!

Congrats to everyone who has lost, sts or gained, the important thing is we are all here and still going regardless!

Keep being fabulous everyone!😊

MooBaggage · 02/06/2025 12:39

Fantastic @MabelSpan !!! That's a brilliant landmark 😍😍😍

I was your starting weight too - hope to keep following in your footsteps!

I am a bit late with my weekly progress check as I was away for the half term and wasn't able to weigh, and I'm a couple of days late taking my injection too.

Week 47 weigh in.

SW: 139kg (21st 12 lbs)
CW: 85.7kg (13st 6lbs), was 86.6kg (13st 8lbs), last week.
GW: 81kg (12st 11 lbs) fifth interim goal

Current pen: 10mg, 3 weeks on this dose.

I managed to do my three C25K runs this week, including the dread Week 5 Run 3 which is the first sustained chunk of running - 20 mins in one go. I am amazed that I managed it and really wouldn't have thought this time last year that it would be possible. A 2lb loss this week is also more than I was expecting, and I'm very grateful for it.

I have also bought several items in a size 16 from different retailers this week and all have fitted me, including jeans, which I am a bit surprised by and a teeny bit overwhelmed tbh. It really doesn't seem that long ago that I was looking at size 22 in as loose a fit that I could find, when I was probably a size 24 or higher in fitted clothing.

Evenstar · 02/06/2025 13:16

Anyone had a rash after injecting? I have woken up with one across my chest this morning, after injecting yesterday and can’t think what else it could be? I’ve never had a rash round an injection site which I know some people have.

alwaysscared · 02/06/2025 13:16

@Timetofindme sending you speedy recovery vibes!
I inject on a Friday, and my op is on a Thursday so will probably just inject on the Thursday the week before, that should work. Then inject on the Friday after the op.

CanIGoHomeNowPlease · 02/06/2025 13:49

@Evenstar I have a small area around my belly button that has a rash from where I inject but not other rashes.

Anyone had a rash after injecting? I have woken up with one across my chest this morning, after injecting yesterday and can’t think what else it could be? I’ve never had a rash round an injection site which I know some people have.

I noticed a strange sort of rash, more like lots of very little raised bumps, along the front of my chest to my shoulders, it was less apparent on my chest, and more the front of my shoulders. It didnt itch and didnt really show, it was only by feeling it that I knew I had it. I didnt happen straight away for me, maybe a few months into the jabs, Im still not 100% sure it was caused by MJ but equally couldnt think of anything else it could be.
I started taking a higher than advised dose of various antihistamines after seeing a hayfever expert on TV who said the recommended doses on packs tend to be conservative and taking more was fine. After a few weeks it vanished and, touch wood hasnt come back.

I hope yours goes soon😊

(sorry about the lack of apostrophes for some reason they dont work on my laptop on here)

Evenstar · 02/06/2025 14:28

Thank you, I have been on it since October and not had a problem till now. I am nearing the end of my first 12.5 pen, but am staying on that so hopefully it might settle.

Unfortunately from experience I can only tolerate half a dose every other day of antihistamine and only the original Piriton, so may just have to hope it settles.

I do have fibromyalgia and have had weird rashes with that in the past.

Just checking..... you are injecting at least 5cm away from your belly button?

Arglefraster · 02/06/2025 19:09

20 jags is only 19 weeks! @Reginaphalangeeeee(jag 1 is day/week 0)

I was (& still am) heavier than you & started 1st November & have lost almost exactly the same as you (24.9kg) so I think you're doing great 😃

CanIGoHomeNowPlease · 02/06/2025 20:25

@WeAllHaveWings yes - my husband does my injections and he’s an instruction reading man. He’s very particular.

So tomorrow is my weigh in day and I'm quite hopeful of a big number, last week I put a lb on and I had my nephews birthday cake but at my size I didn't think it warranted a gain, I also upped my water Intake in preparation of starting the injections.

Today coming home from bingo my underwear and trousers were falling down walking up the path and TMI but ive been to the " toilet" three times tonight not even diarrhea just normal movements. And my watch strap feels a bit loose.

Roll on the -0.5lbs! 😅

I got one!

-7.5!

Started the jabs on Saturday so this will be my first proper week and I got my 6.5stone award 3.5 away from 7stone

Sam187 · 02/06/2025 21:19

Hey all, joining in on this thread. Going to take my first dose around 10.30pm this evening. Nervous! But hoping for the best with the journey. I've got at the very least 5st to lose. Potentially more but will see how we go.

SW 117.6kg
GW 92kg (as a starting point)

All advice welcome xx

Thank you @Arglefraster. Clearly my maths is really very bad 🤣.

Sorry if I appear moany, I am so grateful for the weight I have already lost. Know part of the reason it was a bit more rapid was due to grief loosing my dad defiantly impacted me eating & sleeping for a while.

Think I just need to focus one day at a time now & see the small changes again add up.
I would love to get below 110 in this month.

MooBaggage · 03/06/2025 08:35

Hi @Sam187 🙂

There is great advice on this thread - I'd say for me, the basics when I started were (and still are!)

Water - drink loads of it - at least 2 x litres a day (I now feel like a goldfish)
Protein - eat loads of it 😃
Carbs - reduce and increase veg instead
Fibre - lots of us have found we need more of it to avoid constipation - I put milled flaxseed in a smoothie every day, plus 3 x dates a day. @RobinEllacotStrike is a well known kiwi pusher 😀

Measure yourself as well as weighing yourself - loads of us didn't do this at the beginning and it's a shame, as our body shapes are changing so much! It would have been nice to have my initial measurements to track that aswell..!

Shotsy is a really good app to track your injections and progress - it helps me remember which side I last injected on - you don't think you will, but over time you end up forgetting what you've done as it just becomes one of those things.

I get headaches for the first few nights after injecting, so I always need to have paracetamol in, after not really buying any from month to month, I now buy a packet a week, just in case.

Hopefully you won't get any side effects, but I bought peppermint tea in, just in case I felt nauseous.

Good luck! There will be loads of other stuff, but just post on here and someone will try to help 💪

Hey @MooBaggage,

Thanks so much for all the great advice. Loving the support and guidance across the forum :)

I feel alright this morning, no headache yet, a little jittery but to be expected I think. I did make a coffee and look at it for half an hour with no inclination to drink it, but made another and it's going down ok - now that I've had a pint of water ahead of it haha.

I eat quite a lot of protein as it is, so hoping that good habit continues. I've basically spent the last month sticking to a deficit and increasing my protein/ steps - so hoping this helps maintain that consistency now.

Fibre is a really good point - I wouldn't be confident in saying I get enough so I'll keep that in mind.

Love peppermint tea too - bonus :)

I'm allergic to paracetamol - it's brutal, but I'll make sure I'm stocked up on Ibuprofen.

I expect I'll have lots of questions as the days go on!!

xx

InfoSecInTheCity · 03/06/2025 09:21

@Sam187 just be mindful with ibuprofen that it can cause an upset stomach and so can Mounjaro so if you notice any particularly bad nausea or stomach ache you may need to hold back on that. It’s also worth noting that Mounjaro affects absorption and speed of digestion so can cause medications to be less effective or slower to take effect.

if you’ve ever had success with 4head roll in headache stuff or migraleve cooling forehead strips they could be an alternative to consider if you need them.

MooBaggage · 03/06/2025 09:36

@InfoSecInTheCity how's your coffee making exercising going?! Inspired by you, I've now put my lighter hand weights (what kind of world do I live in now where I have 2 x sets of hand weights...? 🙄) in the kitchen so I can do some exercises while I make coffee - started this morning and am feeling very 😇

Hi can I join in? I’m on the Jan starters thread but could do with posting more to keep myself accountable. I started on Jan 28th.

@GiveMeWordGames i am your thread twin! Same start weight, same height and same goal. I’ve said to myself I’d like to get to 12 stone and see how that feels.

Ive been on 7.5 for a week and lost a pound. I moved up because my losses had really slowed down and I wasnt getting suppression like I used to. I also feel like I’ve lost my way a bit after 2 weeks off work due to a medical issue. Very little activity, no work in the morning so hey let’s have a G&T, combined with 5mg not having much of an impact anymore so more food.

This post is my fresh start.

I didn't think you were being moany at all I was just hoping you could see how well you're doing 💐 I don't often post my details & it occurred to me that if everyone who was losing not really slow but definitely not fast doesn't post then we all probably feel like only the ones/compare with the fastest!

Grief is a distorting lens & I am full of admiration for you keeping going at such a hard time.

I hope you get to 110 this month - 115 is my next target, & a significant number for me (booking weight when pregnant for my now 17 yr old 😳)

Hey, thanks for the heads up. I've always been fine with ibuprofen, stomach wise but worth keeping in mind when combined with MJ. Aspirin is also an option - but yeah I've tried the 4head roll before I think.

I'm doing ok just now, no headache yet but I'll keep this all in mind. Thank you ☺️

Hello and welcome! Good luck with your fresh start. It sounds like moving up is the right thing to do. I'm currently content on 5 but the moment I feel the suppression/satiety going away I'll happily shift up. Having a sudden change in your routine and medical things as well can't have been easy so well done on pushing yourself to refocus.

Yes, GW-wise I'm deliberately being a bit vague about exactly where I want to end up, other than at a healthy BMI, because I want to see how it feels and looks. I haven't been within that weight range for over 20 years and my menopausal body is a very different beast to what it was then.
