Thread EIGHT - blimey we talk a lot! 😄 Anyone using weight loss injections to lose more than 5st/30lbs is very welcome, no matter what stage of the process you are no.

We're high on protein, low on carbs, upping the water and getting the fibre in any which way we can!

Half term hols were not good for my waistline but at least I had a lot of fun! At the start of them I was 109kg (which is a 20kg loss after four months on mj)and was super excited but it has crept back up to 110. So back on the wagon for me. I saw my personal trainer today after almost a fortnight so that was a start ...

Re clothes sizes - I had thought that after 20ishkg off that there would be more difference. In January I was wearing size 22 bottom half and size 20 tops. Now I am wearing size 20 trousers and size 20 tops. I think that it must be where I am carrying and losing weight. I am sure that I could wear a size 18 top if it was sleeveless. I have a very big bum, hips and tum. I can see a big difference in my legs but it is the waistband which is the issue.

akaFrosty · 03/06/2025 15:11

You've all inspired me! I have approx 5 hot drinks per day so I'm going to use that time wisely.

10 coffee-squats done 💪

MabelSpan · 03/06/2025 15:19

Clothes sizes are just daft arent they!

I am 5ft 9.3 (I used to be 5ft 10 so I am hanging on to the .3!) and currently 15st 2, I am wearing size 20 or 22.
I should be getting close to being an 18 as I remember when I first slipped to a size 18, 25yrs ago when I weighed somewhere between 13.7 to 14st.
However, perimeno has destroyed my middle by kindly wrapping it in fat and kidnapping my waist and ribs, if that ever melts away, I hope to be back to an hourglass figure instead of a mishapen pear.😀

Gingercar · 03/06/2025 15:41

I’m in awe at how much some of you have lost. I just hope I can follow in your footsteps. Well done you guys!👏👏👏

Hi all, just joining..1st jab last Saturday..
Sw 15.9 st
Tw 9.7 st

Menopausal, high blood pressure, heading type 2 ... Sort of wishing I'd started earlier... Ive never been slim was 9.7 once early 20s when very stressed so not eating properly so not sure I can picture that for myself..
Can't do running or most excersise classes as knackered feet so hoping to find an excerise I want to do..I like crafting and reading.. and eating out & wine!

My real aim is to want to see a photo of myself... Or even look in a mirror... Never have...

For those that have been doing for a while do you enjoy going out for nice meals? Its always been something I really like to do ...

I'm intrigued to know the answer about meals too, as my partner and I like to go out maybe twice a month for meals, and I don't want to not enjoy it.

Good luck on your journey. I just started yesterday :)

MooBaggage · 03/06/2025 16:11

I inject on a Monday, so find that by Friday/Saturday I'm more in the mood to eat. I definitely have smaller portions though, even when eating out. So in Pizza Express or somewhere like that, I'll have 2 x starters rather than garlic bread + pizza. Or if I'm having an Indian, I'll just have the curry, with no rice/bread and it's plenty. Or tapas is a really good option because I can nibble at a couple of things and not feel like I've over ordered.

The thing is to be confident with what you're choosing - it feels weird at first ordering a starter plus salad and that's it, but I'm getting used to it now - and then I enjoy what I'm eating. Also, I'm feeling less bad about leaving stuff on my plate when I'm full - that's taken months to get the hang of! I eat more slowly, always order a bottle of tap water for the table and keep drinking water - it helps me check in with myself re: how full i'm feeling and when I'm full, I stop and don't keep going!

So very different to pre-MJ me...!!

The other thing I've noticed is that I really want tasty things - so either salty or sweet (not massively spicy - have never been good with 'hot' things) - so I'm enjoying eating out just as much because the food is usually tasty and way better than I'd make it 😀

@averythinline and @Sam187
I love eating out since I started MJ. For the first time ever, I'm in control. I rarely over eat, and MJ has changed the food I like, so I make different choices and rarely clear my plate. It's freeing.
I used to feel so guilty after a meal out, but I look forward to it now. If I do over indulge, I'm straight back on the wagon the next day. The old me would hit the fuck-it button.

MooBaggage · 03/06/2025 16:17

Yes that's exactly it - I can enjoy the not having to cook or wash up, without the guilt of inhaling about 2,000 calories (plus wine!). Similarly, I'm getting used to having a couple of gins over the weekend without worrying I'm going to hit the bottle every night like I used to. It's so freeing!

SilenceInside · 03/06/2025 16:18

I would echo what others have said, I enjoy eating out more now because I’m not self conscious about eating in public. Nor do I have any internal conflict about what to order. I order a starter, or a “smaller plate” option, or a lighter main. I don’t feel interested in the desserts these days, but I don’t mind that.

GiveMeWordGames · 03/06/2025 16:22

@Sam187 @averythinline I can give you my experiences eating out in the 2.5 months I've been on it. Similarly to you both, DH and I have always enjoyed nice restaurants.

About 3 weeks after I started it was his 60th birthday and we'd booked an extremely good restaurant for lunch. I was a bit worried, but it helped that the day fell towards the end of my MJ week, (I'm like @MooBaggage and jab on a Monday). I still enjoyed the lovely taste of everything, I still wanted to try interesting things and because it was a small plates and sharing type of place it was actually easy to eat less.

Since then I've eaten out quite a bit - some group meals on a 60th-related trip with DH's friends and then just recently on holiday. I might not order dessert but I"ll still have a taste of DH's. I'm barely drinking but on holiday still had a glass or two at night.

Basically you just end up eating less, have a reduced urge for sweet stuff but your taste buds still enjoy good, freshly cooked food!

InfoSecInTheCity · 03/06/2025 16:33

Yes! I went to Frankie & Bennys for Dads birthday the other week, was a bit concerned as menu doesn’t have much low carb on it but I hit the buffalo wings from the starter menu and the tender stem broccoli in garlic and herb butter from the sides menu. Perfect size portion and delicious

alltablenochair · 03/06/2025 16:52

I also enjoy going out. When the youngest is in respite (for the newbies among us my youngest is 11 and PDA autistic with complex social and emotional needs and highly challenging behaviour) DH and I prioritise going somewhere. Nothing too exciting (we went to the Toby carvery once!) but it's food I haven't had to cook and a nice treat for us. I have in the past asked for a child's sized meal or a half portion of an adult meal depending on the location. Usually we share a dessert.

As a rule I don't wear jeans (I'm a wheelchair user and jeans aren't always the best of clothes to wear) but I tried an old pair on the other day and they fit me. However I was wearing a size 18 coat today. I brought it to replace my size 24 coat that I distinctly remember getting too tight at one point. I'm almost 30kg into my journey and have began to notice things in other ways- especially in how my chair fits me.

I don't have an end goal yet. Too many years of too many slimming clubs and weird diets. Instead I have a series of interim goals based around key memories. Nailed the first 2 and if it wasn't for running over and annihilating my old phone (fun fact- my chair and I weigh close to quarter of a ton!) I would have the data to see how close I am to the third. However I am around a BMI of 35 from a starting point of a BMI of 45 so I still have a long, long way to go.

Onwards and downwards!

averythinline · 03/06/2025 17:18

Thank you for the positives about eating out..it would be fab to be able to eat just a main/veg I'm not a dessert person its (all) the bread on the side and side carbs and starters and wine & cocktails etc and being a gannet.. fingers crossed it works.. may look at changing jab day... Just did it on Saturday as it arrived

InfoSecInTheCity · 03/06/2025 17:23

I’m out at a cybersecurity conference today and tomorrow so can’t stick to my normal eating routine as staying at a hotel and lots of travel and meetings/demos/talks.

today I had no breakfast, a protein bar for lunch, having Greek for dinner and it will be way over what my normal calorie count would be for one meal but I’ve barely eaten all day and so far I’m at 16,282 steps so it will all balance out. Haven’t had anywhere enough to drink today so might try to squeeze a litre of water in this evening. I’m expecting the scales to be confused for a few days due to muscle aches, dehydration and water retention but again it will sort itself out.

Hotflushesandchilblains · 03/06/2025 20:46

So, just got third pen today, but its still 5mg. Disappointed, I was hoping the dose would be increased again.

OnwardsDownwards · 03/06/2025 21:35

Hi all, can I join in please! I started getting myself on the right track in Jan, then started MJ in early May.

I’ve lost 22lb so far, dropped from a 24/26 to 20/22. Which is already feeling amazing!

I don’t really know what my goal weight is but another 7 stone would take me in to the healthy BMI range. I read someone else say their weight went up with their height - mine did too, I was a size 16 by age 16. So I have no idea what a healthy weight will look like on me. But after 25 years of dieting this is the first time I’ve ever felt positive that I might just get there.

Tonight I’m dithering. Due to go up to 5mg. But I tried MJ a year ago and 5mg made me really ill. So thinking of doing 3.75 for now.

MooBaggage · 03/06/2025 21:45

Hello @OnwardsDownwards 😊 As long as you're OK click counting, then it seems like a good idea to move to 3.75mg as an interim step! I'm currently on 6.25mg, so using a 7.5mg pen and getting 5 - 6 doses from it. Saves the nausea as I can't seem to move between pens without feeling very rough!

That was me, first weight watchers meeting when I was 11yo, and right now at 41 years old I weigh less than I did then 😲

Welcome to the group, we’re a good bunch, try to be supportive while also delivering a bit of hometruth when it’s needed and helpful advice wherever possible.

What were your symptoms before when you went up to 5mg, and being really honest with yourself what was your diet like at the time?

Its not always the case, but often we see links between drastic undereating or ‘poor’ choices and symptoms (junk food, refined carbs, low fibre etc).

Most of us see better and more consistent losses and feel way better when we eat around 500 calories below TDEE, a good mix of Protein, fat and fibre, reduced but not eliminated carbs and complex rather than simple, so ryvita instead of cream cracker, whole grain seeded instead of white bread. Plenty of green veg, berries, kiwi fruit will help keep your digestion working.

And the secret weapon, that everyone overlooks or forgets about, it’s certainly the thing I have to remind myself about most often, WATER!!!! Black coffee, black tea, herbal teas, squash, diet soft drinks, however you can get it in is fine but you need loads of it. About 2lts a day will do it.

Have they sent you a different pen to the one you ordered?

TwoBlueFish · 03/06/2025 22:07

Good tips about eating out, thank you.

@Hotflushesandchilblains are you ordering yours privately or is it through an NHS clinic?

Question - does everyone only do 1 month on 2.5mg?

Beefstew · 03/06/2025 22:17

May I please join the conversation?
I started on a .25 injection last Saturday. I am currently 16.5 stone and my goal is 10.5.
I lost 5 stone in the past year or so but got fed up of being tempted and then overeating and hating myself.

I've been low carb for the past while and unwittingly fasting for long periods for the past few days. Just no interest in food or alcohol.

OnwardsDownwards · 03/06/2025 22:19

@InfoSecInTheCity thank you, I’m in a very different place to when I tried it a year ago. Gym 3 times a week, lots of protein, 2L of water a day. And the big big one - got diagnosed with Sleep Apnea and am on CPAP treatment, which has been utterly life changing. So I’m physically much better prepared for it. But I think I’ll still click count to 3.75 for this week. I’m in no rush, I’d rather take it slow and feel in control.

Reginaphalangeeeee · 03/06/2025 22:19

Arglefraster · 03/06/2025 10:00

I didn't think you were being moany at all I was just hoping you could see how well you're doing 💐 I don't often post my details & it occurred to me that if everyone who was losing not really slow but definitely not fast doesn't post then we all probably feel like only the ones/compare with the fastest!

Grief is a distorting lens & I am full of admiration for you keeping going at such a hard time.

I hope you get to 110 this month - 115 is my next target, & a significant number for me (booking weight when pregnant for my now 17 yr old 😳)

Ah yes 107 was my booking weight 13 years ago. Really want to get there any beyond!

Taking it day by day. Today I have eaten well…. I mean better and on track again.
When is your 115 target hopeful for?
I was plotting expected time as 1kg a week initially but it's slower now. Hoping 7.5mg may spark it again next week.

MaryTheTurtle · 03/06/2025 22:28

I’m on Wegovy and on 1mg and OMFG Saturday my whole body was shaking , legs like jelly felt bloody awful, Sunday felt dreadful and really unwell (no shaking), feel pissed off too. I hate 1mg.
I’ve lost 12 pounds in 10 weeks and hit a plateau last 2 weeks so when tik a dosage. I cannot wait for the week to be over. Now I’m undecided if I drop back down to 0.25 or stop altogether.

felt so unwell it concerned me
