@RobinEllacotStrike good legs too and nice shorts !! Are you quite tall? I’m now86.6 and def still in obese category ( although my H assures me I’m not obese very kindly) at 5 ft 4

I’m about 5’9

legs don’t look too bad from that angle. They are lumpy bumpy & wobbly but that’s ok. They are also strong now.

Crikeyalmighty · 02/07/2025 12:26

@RobinEllacotStrike I’ve got similar legs - it’s the best thing about me!!! Even when 16 stone I had decent legs - it all just went on my middle and my chin(s)

InfoSecInTheCity · 02/07/2025 12:33

So many brilliant accomplishments on the thread today, well done everyone!

Sitting in my shed listing to the putter patter of drizzle, enjoying the cooler weather and debating whether I can be bothered to do the weeding. Also admiring my legs😂

I've not weighed myself since the 11th of June so I'm going to go and do it this week... hoping for a big loss but honestly don't feel very different. I'm still wearing jeans I had in March when I started MJ. They're elasticated and definitely baggier than they were but they aren't falling off me or anything. Plus no one has commented or asked if I've lost weight so it all feels a bit... meh.

On the other hand, I've been eating really well and avoiding sugar, and I've been exercising more, although I still need to get back into lifting weights. I just got myself a cheap bike so I can cycle to the gym!

I've been following this thread but trying not to be on my phone as much so I'm now banned from MN most of the day! But well done to all of you who are working on this and may we all prosper!

I hate it when people comment on my weight, even if it's about a loss. If they comment that I have lost weight, the implication is that I needed to. Because of this, I would never comment on someone else's weight. It's so rude.

I've a bit of a pickle in that regard - I'd like them to compliment me on my losses but also to not comment on my weight because it makes me feel uncomfortable. I guess fleeting praise is the sweet spot for me!

AnneinEdinburgh · 02/07/2025 13:57

@InfoSecInTheCity and beautifully muscled pins they are!

Darlinghag · 02/07/2025 14:12

loving all the legs!!

@RobinEllacotStrike congrats on breaking into the 80s!!!

update on my attempts to ditch some of my UPF foods!!

I am 3 days in on sugarless coffee - I still don’t love it but I persist!!

I’ve also not eaten crisps at all, and so far, just one sweet treat item.

my goal is not to eliminate entirely right now - this kind of restriction doesn’t help me. I just want it to be less, and to make sure that I eat enough within my deficit to sustain my body!

i went shopping last night and tried to include more full fat options, which i typically avoid for calorie reasons, but bring other benefits, like full fat cottage cheese and 5% Fage. I want to use more calories on more nutrients. And while I did buy some snacks, I made a conscious choice to buy some better quality ones and ones where I don’t eat a high volume of them because they are satiating. So I love the M&S dark choc covered cherries, and usually only eat 3-4 at a time as thats enough, but they are pricey! Sprung for them as an alternative to a double finger twix lol!

lets see how i go there hey! Its the early part of my jab week and I might find discipline harder later!!

I am a pretty slow loser, 78lbs and I am 2 weeks short of a year on MJ. @NewbieMJ at 43 weeks I had lost 70lbs so similar to you. It was hard at the beginning when some people were losing incredibly quickly. There were people losing over a stone in the first four weeks, I lost 4lbs 😭
But I just kept telling myself it would be better this way and I’m ok with it now. For me this way of eating is for ever and my goal is pretty arbitrary so the main thing is just trying to make one good decision after another and making choices that make me feel good. I do weigh and I love it when the scales show a loss, but it really doesn’t matter if / when I get to my goal weight. Better health and quality of life is happening right now.

I’m at the start of the journey, only 6 weeks in. And I did lose 14lbs in my first week, but it’s slowed down to 1.5 to 2lbs a week now. But I look at your 70lb losses and I am absolutely in awe. And desperately hoping I’ll be as successful on this journey in a years time as you are now. I would LOVE to be in your shoes.
So feel really proud of yourselves!

You’ll get there!

I do feel proud, not so much because of the weight loss but more for sticking at it (which I’m not usually very good at) and for pushing myself physically (which I am usually even worse at). I have definitely pivoted away from weight as a measure of success, which is helpful now that I’m nearly at goal and losing slowly, but I think will also be good once I move to maintaining. I’ve read that losing that dopamine hit of seeing a loss on the scales can be quite difficult so it’s all about health, fitness and strength goals for me now. And really taking hold of life in a very deliberate and conscious way 👍

Yeah I know what you mean. I want them to say something but also not to say anything 😂Not sure how they're supposed to do that. Just feels a bit weird that no one has noticed.

RobinEllacotStrike · 02/07/2025 21:24

@Darlinghagbravo re these habit breaking moves you are making. We can get so attached to things, but remember sugar and caffeine are addictive. And once you start to pace out the fixes you weaken the habit. Then one day the habit is broken, the addiction is over & you are free of it. Don’t they say you do something differently 30 times to break a habit? So you are well on the way. I do think there is evidence that even calorie free artificial sweeteners can affect our bodies and insulin.

@InfoSecInTheCity your legs look so powerful & amazing.

today I wore shorts all day & I felt like & looked like a “normal” person. I kept expecting to be laughed at or catch my reflection & shudder - clearly some past buried shorts trauma. 😂😂
I will wear shorts again!

DD17 is pouting because I pointed out to her - for the one millionth time- that wiping the bench & pulling the plug are part of washing up. 😂. She’s a fab kid but dishes are her weakness.

NotsosunnyShropshire · 03/07/2025 07:20

About 2 weeks before I started MJ (in April this year) I ordered an xxl dress from Monsoon for the summer. When I started MJ I ordered the next size down. I’m wearing it today and it’s a little loose. It’s a flowy summer dress so still looks ok, but definitely loose around the top half.

I shall mostly be wafting around all day today 😊

Fortiesmum · 03/07/2025 07:46

I'm quite slow but very consistent! Which I've never ever been when losing weight before! So I'm hoping that is going to be an that the Wright stays off.
Well done on your loss

NervyWegovy · 03/07/2025 13:54

Thanks for the encouraging words guys I just couldn't believe it and it just topped off a shitty day as I only went to the hospital to appease my mum thought it would just be a sprain.

@NotsosunnyShropshire enjoy the dress whilst it fits!

@neveroutofthekitchenSame but for me I'm conflicted as I have so much to lose its nice to see that I've made some difference so far but then its the well how much have you lost and got to lose etc and I don't like giving details so its awkward

I do say 'Oh dieting's so boring isn't it'. Then change the subject with a question and say something like 'Have you got a holiday booked this year?'

alltablenochair · 03/07/2025 15:27

So the months worth of data regarding my weight loss is in. It would seem that just as I suspected I had slowed right down on 12.5. So I've just brought a 15mg pen and I'll see how I go from there.

Still got a long way to go though (current BMI is 34.4) so I will see how it goes.

eleanorwish · 03/07/2025 17:43

NSV for me today. Got a hug from my 18 yr old DS, and he said ‘you feel smaller ‘!

taylorswift1989 · 03/07/2025 18:28

Well I cycled to boots this morning and weighed myself. I've lost 6 pounds in the last three weeks which I think is good! 2lb a week is a good loss, I reckon, even if it seems slow. It's not! It'sthe top end of healthy loss. And I'm now 99kg which psychologically feels like a big deal. So yay! Guess it's going well :)

Zebracat · 03/07/2025 19:51

@taylorswift1989 brilliant well done you. Getting under 100 kilos was a big deal for me.

MooBaggage · 04/07/2025 07:37

I've weighed and have stayed the same this week - only the 2nd week I've stayed the same since starting on MJ, which in itself is 😮. So, will keep on keeping on and be thankful that I've got rid of what I've got rid of!

13.1.25 SW 20st 3lbs. BMI 43
6.7.25 CW 16st 7lbs BMI 35.1

A couple of NSVs yesterday though - I went to see Stevie Wonder at Lytham Festival, which was effing amazing and:

  1. Dp's raincoat fits me - done up and everything, whereas 2 years ago when I bought it, it was way too small and I couldn't do it up.
  1. I stood in a field for 8 hours and my back didn't hurt and my plantar fasciitis no longer exists so I feel fine today (other than absolutely knackered!)

💪💪💪

3lbs off this week, breaking my month-long stall and bringing me to a nice round 9 stone loss from my heaviest. I'm trying to wrap my head around the fact that I've lost a whole person.

I love the leg pics @InfoSecInTheCity and @RobinEllacotStrike. I've been for a consultation to get my severe varicose veins zapped and am hoping to get them done at the end of the summer, so I'll join you in shorts next year!

MooBaggage · 04/07/2025 11:20

@VelociraptorsVelociRapping 9 blooming stone!! That is just so amazing - and hurrah for losing again after a month 😍 So pleased for you - just brilliant to have lost so much. I think 9 stone is probably my ultimate goal - hoping to reach 7 stone loss by the 1 year point, but then will keep going with a bit of luck and join you at some point in 2026!

OP posts:
Darlinghag · 04/07/2025 11:22

Musing about my appearance today. I’m probably 4 stone away from goal - if not a little more, due to my height, and I can’t see how I won’t need surgery after to feel good naked. My B belly, and my apron are still very prominent, although of course, significantly smaller, and i think there will be a lot of loose skin.

One for future Hag!

On the positive, I did think today how much easier it is to feel casually put together. And please note this my own personal feelings about myself and not anyone else!

At my heaviest, and the first few stones, I always felt looking good in a casual, effortless way just didn’t exist for me. That sort of, thrown together jeans and a tee, sandals with tied up hair and very little makeup just made me feel slobby and unattractive.

Size under 14stone me feels so much better about it! I went to the shop this morning with that kind of outfit, and only one make up item on (eyebrows haha!) and did not feel bad about it or like I would duck away if I saw someone I knew!

Totally a social construct that if I’m fat I must always over compensate by dressing to the 9s and having hair and makeup done, but just how I felt!

MooBaggage · 04/07/2025 11:30

@Darlinghag that's really interesting re: how you feel about how you look now as opposed to pre-weight loss - I kind of feel the opposite, I think?! When I was huge I'd really lost interest in all of me, so dressed in rubbish clothes, all dark colours, very 'sloppy', often didn't do my hair (although I always have to have eyeliner and mascara on!), but now, my Vinted obsession has brought difference and colour to my life! My clothes are slightly more adventurous in style and definitely more colourful 😃 I'm doing my hair more and have added in a tinted moisturiser to the make up - my skin is tons better from drinking water, so it has more of a glow anyway, and funnily enough this is the thing that the most people have commented on, is how good my face/skin looks?!

So weird isn't it to see how a change in body shape (good or bad) impacts on so many other aspects of our lives.
