Hi all. I’ve just taken my 4th jab and am feeling a bit disillusioned. I’ve only lost 5lb in 3 weeks and I am feeling no appetite suppression at all. The 5lb is from me feeling hungry and using all my will power to make better choices! The jab I’ve just done was 2.5, I’m hoping when I go onto the 5 next week I will feel it kick in.

I keep reading about this golden dose which I think means using the last bit out of the pen after the 4th jab? I’ve just discovered that the pen won’t let you do another jab, so how do you get it out? I assume have to insert a needle but where do you get them from please?

SW 18.8 st
CW 18.3 st
GW 12st

thank you

CanIGoHomeNowPlease · 29/06/2025 15:54

@shedroof I don’t muck about with the golden dose. It’s not meant to be used like that so I won’t do it.

You’re on your 4th dose of 2.5mg and need to move up to 5mg by the sounds of it.

2.5mg is not supposed to work - it’s just to get your body used to the medication.

Some people don’t get the appetite suppressant effect from the medication until they hit a higher dose.

Do you have your next pen?

Darlinghag · 29/06/2025 15:58

Afternoon folks,

weigh day and I am showing a gain of 0.6lbs - what i lost last week, making me 13st 12.1lbs. Oddly, i was a lb lighter yesterday but hey ho. I deffo ate more carbs than normal yesterday and didn’t properly track.

i’m not feeling anything about it really - just bleurgh. I will plough on!!

@RobinEllacotStrike i love how its working for you. I’m going to consider how I can improve my diet. I must be clear, I am a million times better than before MJ - and I don’t eat takeaways or junky meals really - its purely the sweet tooth.

the diet coke is definitely caffeine (adhd!!!), im not at the stage where I would even consider that being cut - but i would like to reduce the evening sweet treat - even to a less frequent amount and better quality when i do.

when I began MJ, i ate very little sweet stuff - so I think my dose is what has let this creep back in, but honestly, i’m not keen to up it yet as it works in other aspects. I’d rather see if i can work it in to my life more organically!

WeAllHaveWings · 29/06/2025 16:01

@shedroof it is low risk using the remaining liquid as long as you are careful with hygiene using a syringe and are 100% confident of your measures.

If you want a fixed needle syringe search for 32g 1ml 8mm and buy from a medical supplier such as UK Medi (not Amazon).

Or if you want separates to get a shorter needle look on UK medi for a 1ml luer lock syringe and buy their separate needles in the same length/gauge as your pen needles. You can buy extra needles to switch between extracting and injecting if you choose.

The remaining liquid (which is not "golden" in any way) will vary in volume left, it could be anything from 0.6ml to 0.9ml depending on how much you have primed.

0.6ml will a full dose of any pen strength. If you get more out you could use it as a stepping stone to 5mg - if you get 0.9ml it will be a 3.75mg dose.

It is fairly straightforward but if you are unsure in any way don't do it.

gimmemounjaro · 29/06/2025 17:58

@shedroofjust to say that in my first four weeks on 2.5mg I lost 4.4lbs 😖

And then in the next four weeks on 5mg I lost 12.8lbs. Just keep going, it’s very normal for 2.5mg not to make much difference, in spite of what you might think from reading posts on here.

gimmemounjaro · 29/06/2025 18:16

@Darlinghag out of interest, what does caffeine do for ADHD? Asking for DD..

Weigh day for me today:

SW: 241.2lbs / 17st 3
CW: 163.5lbs / 11st 10
GW: 150lbs / 10st 10

This week -2.7lbs
Total loss -77.7lbs, 5st 7

Happy to have lost but it’s mostly just correcting last week’s gain. The scales are very up and down at the moment, so I’m either disappointed to have gone up or sceptical if I’ve gone down and anticipating a gain the next week iykwim. It also feels really slow, but actually I have lost 6lbs in the last 4 weeks which is good going at this stage. I need to hold my nerve and just keep trying to make one good decision after another.

I reduced from 10mg to 7.5mg this week as I was starting to feel a bit wobbly on 10. (Although wobble not be anything to do with MJ.) And also to see how I coped with a view to gradually reducing. So I am a bit paranoid about whether I will be ok on the lower dose and sort of expecting to fail. Must sort out that mindset asap!

Probably what I should do is try 9mg instead of the more significant drop to 7.5, stop weighing, just live as well as I can for a month and see what happens. But I’m not sure I’m brave enough to let go of the scales 🫤

Darlinghag · 29/06/2025 18:48

@gimmemounjaro caffeine commonly does the opposite for those with adhd, so it helps regulate me rather than hype me up!

i found MJ amazing initially for it, really dampened a need to dopamine chase, but last few months thats gone away and now instead of food i use my phone, which is actually a real issue, like i would be embarassed to talk about what i ate before Mj, i am now embarassed to admit how many hours a day i scroll tiktok!!!

gimmemounjaro · 29/06/2025 18:54

That’s interesting @Darlinghag thanks. I will see if she’s tried it. Currently in a bit of a spin with meds so anything that helps would be a welcome bit of positivity 👍

Darlinghag · 29/06/2025 21:29

@gimmemounjaro no problem - theres a lot of research out there about it -and of course, everyone has a unique experience, i’m currently unmedicated and always have been, so might have a different effect on those that are!

alltablenochair · 29/06/2025 22:51

@gimmemounjaro (and excuse me if I am butting in- please tell me to shove off if I am annoying you)

From my understanding, caffeine increases the levels of neurotransmitters in the brain and can help regulate them- something which can be out of kilter for people with ADHD. However, some people with ADHD can go the other way and be very sensitive to things like caffeine. Like my youngest for instance. Artificial colourings, gluten and to an extent dairy also send him off like an exocet missile.

InfoSecInTheCity · 30/06/2025 05:21

Loss this week - 1.4 lbs
Total loss - 72.6 lbs

gimmemounjaro · 30/06/2025 06:03

Thanks @alltablenochair I checked with DD and she says it doesn’t really affect her so back to the drawing board!

MabelSpan · 30/06/2025 13:30

Hi everyone, hope you are all well.

Weigh and jab day for me, wk 46, wk 10 at 4.83mg.

SW 20st 3lbs
CW 14st 11.8lbs
WL -1.8lbs
Ave wkly loss 1.6lbs

Another great result is that my visceral fat has now dropped to 12 from 22 which, whilst I take these scale readings with a pinch of salt, is still fantastic and put a brief smile even on my MJ joy deprived, eeyore like face😊

47lbs...3st 5lbs...21.3kg to go! Easy😁

Its odd now, I pretty much completely forget I am on MJ. I wouldnt remember to take my jab if it werent for my alarm. Its strange.

Darlinghag · 30/06/2025 15:51

@MabelSpan funny you say that, as i darted out of bed at 11pm because I realised I hadn’t jabbed last night 😂😂

I’ve given up the sugar free syrup in my coffee today - Look at me 😂😂 coffee tastes rank without sugar lol. I’ve decided if I haven’t gotten over it by next week I give my self permission to add honey 😂

I’ve also ditched the crisps - I’m not eating loads calories wise - one under 100 calorie bag a day, but if I can make it one or two a week I’ll be happy. Let’s see if I reduce the evening snack as well!!

Today has just involved coffee, fruit and eggs with a little bacon in the form of home made egg bites thingies so feeling very dedicated to being better!

lifetheuniverseandeverything42 · 30/06/2025 15:56

@Darlinghagwhat are your home made egg bite things. I like the sound of those and can you batch cook and freeze them? I need to find some new things to have for lunch and I haven’t been eating many eggs to they would work well. I only have a few more days with an actual cooker before the builders demolish my kitchen (temp kitchen with air fryer in the conservatory but no proper cooker till October now). Going to be an interesting few months but sure it will be worth it.

RobinEllacotStrike · 30/06/2025 16:01

Bravo on ditching the sugar/sweetener in your coffe @Darlinghag

Keep going - in a week you may well be wondering how you ever had sugar in there at all? 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

MabelSpan · 30/06/2025 16:04

@Darlinghag I can just imagine, that feeling of oh sugar I need to jab! At least you hadnt fallen off to sleep first, that would have been miserable.
Its so easy to forget all about it isnt it! If I didnt have alarms for every event on my phone, my life would be a disaster in every way!

MabelSpan · 30/06/2025 16:07

I ditched sweeteners in my tea and coffee a few years ago now. Im not sure I like it as much as I did when it was sweeter, but I wont go back. I add collagens to my 2 daily coffees and inulin powder in one of my cups of tea as I take it daily, the inulin has a sweetener like taste to it.

RobinEllacotStrike · 30/06/2025 16:08

I'm on my trial week of diet by ChatGPT - I figure its the easiest way to calorie count.

I've made a big salad with puy lentils, a finely chopped cauliflower, oodles of herbs - parsley, mint, corriander, dill, olive oil, lemon juice. Had with a chopped chicken breast on the beach for lunch. This is all prepped for lunches this week. Steak and greens for dinner, pomegranate & yoghurt for my snack.
It feels like a lot of food.

I was meant to have eggs and mushrooms for breakfast but my neighbour had a health issue and I had to help her, call ambulance etc so I just had time for a smoothie after all that.

Hopefully ChatGPT meal planning will help me break this plateau.

NSV - collar bone now visible from below throat all the way to my shoulder/top of arm joint.

Is anyone else struggling with feeling that they have so far to go and still feeling extremely large? I have managed to get within half a kilo of the weight I was in 2018 when I really didn’t feel that large. My starting weight was 10kg lighter before I got down to that weight.

Since June 2023 I have lost more than 21kg (just over half of that with Mounjaro since October) and now realise I need to lose the same again to even get to an overweight BMI. My shape has changed post menopause and my tummy seems to be hanging on despite noticeable changes and my waist being smaller, I was comfortably wearing a size 16 in 2018 now I seem to be stuck at an 18 or larger in some things.

I saw someone last week who noticed my weight loss and she said I don’t think you look large now at all, but I saw a photograph of me at an event yesterday and I look huge.

I am a slow loser and am so grateful that I have Mounjaro to enable me to keep going, but it still feels like a mountain to climb even if you have the right equipment to help you.

Sorry to moan, but I know you will all understand.

MooBaggage · 30/06/2025 16:29

@Evenstar yes! I literally had this exact thought a minute ago..! I've just jabbed and am sat here looking at my vast tummy, having injected and thinking WTF 🙄

I've lost 52lbs but am only just about halfway there - am still obese and not predicted to hit overweight until February 2026...!

I try not to have these thoughts, and stick to small milestones that cheer me up, but yes - I get you...

@MabelSpan it's posts like yours that give me hope though!

We are starting weight twins 😊 I'm just starting week 25 today, so really hope I'm somewhere near where you are at week 45! It can be done... 💪

Evenstar · 30/06/2025 16:39

Thank you @MooBaggage , it’s just hard to understand how I didn’t feel massive at the same weight before!

Darlinghag · 30/06/2025 16:48

@lifetheuniverseandeverything42 they aren’t that exciting i’m afraid! They are eggs, additional egg white (lidl do the long life egg whites rather than the refridgerated ones and i eat loads of them!), cottage cheese, seasoning, chopped chives and then a protein, mostly ham or chopped bacon, sometimes i add mozzarella if i have some! I will also toss in pepper or tomato if languising in the fridge! I like to add sweet chilli or chamoy sauce after cooking!

i just spray a little olive oil in silicone cup moulds and then chuck those filled up (leave growing room they need it!!) in the air fryer for 10-15 mins!

i guess you can freeze and nuke, but i tend to work from home so make most days and will often eat cold!

@RobinEllacotStrike i’m not enjoying it yet!! 😂😂 i drink tea without and maybe i need to drink that more but do prefer coffee most days!! Your food always sounds nice!! I have to be strategic with what i buy (or i try!!) due to living alone and limited freezer space meaning its easy to waste but try to be as nice sounding as yours when i make food haha!

@MabelSpan i think it might be only tje second time i missed my usual window! Normally on sundays i am hyper aware its jab time as i am starving! 😂😂

@Evenstar @MooBaggage i feel like this frequently!! Often when I sit down and things ‘spread’ but as time goes on, its starting to swing the other way, like when i fold laundry and think crikey, that looks small!! Or like driving on the weekend and the space on my lap between my stomach and the wheel - all the thigh my stomach no longer rests on!!! Eventually it will be like that all the time for us all!!

RobinEllacotStrike · 30/06/2025 17:29

@Evenstar oh yes - I think many of us experience this.

I flip flop between feeling almost slender, and then feeling very fat.

It makes sense when I think that I've really had quite a distorted view of my body since I was a girl - so while I am better with acceptance now, I don't expect that the distortion will just leave because I'm losing weight.

And yes I am also marvelling as to how I am celebrating getting back into old clothes and feeling slighter, stronger, fitter - but when I was wearing the same clothyes the first time I felt so fat.

So its all in the head!!! I've taking the postive self talk approach & I try and catch negitive self talk & intervene with something positive or at least less judgmental.
