I feel like foods gone a bit wrong this week. We were at the beach and ate ice cream every day, fish and chips , burgers etc. I mainly kept within my calorie allowance and I still lost a little bit of weight , but we are home now and yesterdays food was still in holiday mode. Sausage rolls and quiche. Need a reset. It’s injection day today. Current weight is 94.3 kilos. So I have lost 0.8 kilo, but I don’t want to get sloppy. I’ve got lots to do today, house and garden are grim, but I feel sleepy and unmotivated. Have been for a swim

MooBaggage · 28/06/2025 10:52

@Zebracat I know what you mean re: getting back in the zone after a holiday. I had to do a hard reset after coming back last week. The key for me seems to be setting a good habit around drinking water - if I get back to drinking 1 x litre by 1pm and another litre before 4pm, it helps how I think about food.

It's difficult though, to drop the holiday treats... I'm away again in a couple of weeks and am already looking forward to an evening Pimms! But since coming back from holiday last weekend I haven't had any alcohol, so I know I can contain treats to holidays, at least. Impossible before MJ!

Agree on the water aspect. I can’t remember if it was on here or on a social media post where someone said “your job now is to make sure you drink enough water every day.” So in my head as I go through the day I keep reminding myself to do my “job”. It definitely helps with my appetite and just feeling better and more awake all round.

lifetheuniverseandeverything42 · 28/06/2025 11:29

I’ve upped my dosage and despite eating more than usual the last couple of days I have lost. I would still have been in calorie deficit but I think a few more calories have boosted my metabolism along with a slight higher dose helping regulate blood sugars etc a bit better. I am now up to a total of 8kg (17.5lbs). My next target is to get to 9.4kg and that will be into the next stone bracket. Hopefully won’t take too long.

Zebracat · 28/06/2025 12:24

Thanks guys. I have got forgetful about water. 12.25 and still on my first half litre!

neveroutofthekitchen · 28/06/2025 13:15

Hi, I'm just about to start, so may I join you? I have 6 stone to lose :-(
I would love some tips about coping in social situations. I've only told my husband that I am doing this, and I want to keep it that way for fear of judgment. However, I do socialise a lot and this usually includes food at other people's houses. People know me well and will comment if I refuse pudding, etc.

NewbieMJ · 28/06/2025 13:22

@InfoSecInTheCity You may know already, but sometimes an easy fix for a washing machine that won't spin is to undo the wee dial thing on the bottom right hand side and pull out and clear. Use a shallow tray and or plenty towels. It can get blocked with all sorts and if a coin or something gets stuck, it can stop the machine spinning. Worth a try if you haven't done it already. I daresay there will be a you tube video showing you what to do.
Hope it might work to save you monies.

MooBaggage · 28/06/2025 13:24

Hi @neveroutofthekitchen and welcome!

I had similar dilemmas when I started - I'm known for drinking and eating lots when out and about with friends... I would pour a glass of wine, but then just either not drink it or sip tiny bits - no-one really noticed as long as I had a glass in my hand!

As I've lost weight and people have noticed, I've told most of my friends - seemed daft not to, as some asked me how I was doing it and I didn't want to lie because it's not a shameful thing.

So maybe just nibble on bits and bobs - you hopefully won't want to eat loads asnthe suppression kicks in - and leave stuff on your plate. Nothing wrong with that and also nothing wrong in saying you're trying to cut back a bit, without mentioning MJ.

I seem to be able to turn the dial enough for water to pish out but not enough to actually pull the damn filter out. After soaking 4 towels I have decided to put them outside to dry off a bit and will come back to it later and reuse the same lot of towels to avoid creating a mountain of washing.

InfoSecInTheCity · 28/06/2025 13:35

@neveroutofthekitchen I still go out I just eat and drink different stuff. I have Diet Coke or fizzy water to drink and I eat a side salad or starter and side without the main meal. Sometimes like when I take the kids/husband to McDs I just sit and have a drink while they eat because I’m not interested in the food or any of the alternative options and just want to sit and chat while they eat.

MooBaggage · 28/06/2025 13:36

Congratulations @Mounjaronewbie25 !!! That's brilliant 😍

You must feel so good about it - 5 stone is fantastic - I hope you're going to celebrate😊

@Mounjaronewbie25 well done you🏅makes it seem possible for me. It really hasn’t taken long either.

Crikeyalmighty · 28/06/2025 14:11

@lifetheuniverseandeverything42this is why I don’t eat in a deficit at weekends- well I do ,but I also allow myself3 glasses of wine over a weekend - I find if I eat/ drink around1600 cals at weekends but1100 Monday to Friday it seems to keep me losing - although I don’t weigh myself at weekend as it will always show a temporary rise. I’m not sure of the science of it, but works for me. However I’m not currently on MJ , but am still following all the principles, high protein , lots of water, lots of veg and salad, eggs, Greek yoghurt etc - so it’s easier for me to vary it up, as I don’t have suppression at all - and pretty good willpower.

RonMJ · 28/06/2025 16:15

@alltablenochair Ive just bought a couple of boxes of the golden kiwis in Tesco, and sometimes I’ve found them in M&S. My local midsized Tesco is a bit hit and miss with the boxes of 4, but sometimes they have big ones (I’d say nearly double size) but sold individually.

RonMJ · 28/06/2025 16:19

@neveroutofthekitchen I’ve told very few people I’m doing WLI. My cover story for eating out or at other people’s houses has been that I’ve stopped eating pastry, cream, etc because “my gall bladder is playing up”. Everyone has been very accommodating and understanding.

MooBaggage · 28/06/2025 16:34

@WeAllHaveWings that loss is just so amazing!! 😊 does it feel completely routine now, what you're eating, etc? I'm really hoping my year ahead looks like yours - I've got a similar amount to lose and am more or less halfway there - you give me hope it actually does carry on...!

InfoSecInTheCity · 28/06/2025 17:10

Wow @WeAllHaveWings absolutely amazing loss!

Think I may have won against the washing machine, brute force got the drain thing open which revealed a collection of sweet wrappers DD had left in her pockets. Just ran a load of towels through and no error messages or exploding so looking good, will run a load tomorrow then call Argos and try to cancel the washing machine I panic bought this morning 😂

NewbieMJ · 28/06/2025 17:37

@InfoSecInTheCity yay! Always worth a try. Glad it looks promising and save £££'s on a new washing machine!

WeAllHaveWings · 28/06/2025 18:19

Thanks @InfoSecInTheCity Glad you got it working!

Talking about sweet wrappers I dug out a pair of old denims this week and they now kind of fit (size 16 with no stretch in them) and I found this in the pocket. The best before date had been washed out, but ChatGPT tells me the last time fudges were 15p would have been late 1990s - early 2000s which ties into around the last time I fitted into that size!

I can see the ingredients in a fudge were very different then - no nasty Palm Oil at all and it had condensed milk in it before too, no wonder they don't taste as good!

I can't wear the denims, not only because the style is tight on the thighs then quite widely flared, but they are way way too long! Shows how much I have shrunk in the last 20+ years! 🤣

It does feel quite routine now, and I don't panic if I go off course now and again as weights still seems to be keeping steadily downward, but I am not convinced it is routine enough that I could do it without that helping hand from Mounjaro!

Hopefully one day, but once I get nearer to a weight I feel happy to maintain around, my current thoughts are to stick with Mounjaro for some time (perhaps even a year), maybe taper down slightly to make sure it is really embedded routine before tentatively trying to stop. But I don't plan too far ahead, will take it as it comes and I'm sure that plan will change!

I am sure you will get there too! You already know it takes patience, just keep moving forward and enjoy the journey and ticking off the milestones as you pass each one.

alltablenochair · 28/06/2025 22:31

@neveroutofthekitchen
If people ask me depending on who's doing the asking then they get 1 of 2 replies. They either get told that it's my private medical information I'm not sharing or that I am losing weight after being critically ill with sepsis last year. Only my husband and bestie know about the MJ.

@RonMJ no Tesco where I live unfortunately and I don't drive either. I think there is one near where DH works so if he's in the office anytime soon (he mainly works at home) I might get him to get some.

alltablenochair · 28/06/2025 22:34

On the topic of gold kiwis, cut into one tonight and got this.

eleanorwish · 29/06/2025 15:01

Did my 20th jab on Friday night (4th at 10mg), weighed myself this morning and I’m now in the 12’s! Well 12st 13.9lbs but I’ll take it! Starting weight on Mounjaro was 15st 3, so that’s a little over 30 lbs.
I must remember to try clothes on more often. I have a load of trousers I’m waiting to fit into again. A couple of months ago, I tried on a size 18 pair of combat trousers from M&S that I’ve had for years. They were skin tight all the way down my legs. Wore them yesterday and now they’re falling down.
