I don’t think I need to describe my current side effect if I show you what I just purchased 😁. Hope these sort things!

I still haven’t found the full fat cottage cheese. Will have to try a bigger supermarket this weekend.

love it @OnwardsDownwards

Every time I stop 🥝🥝I stop going to the toilet regularly
Back on 🥝🥝 and back to regular movements.
They really do work. I'm not hugly keen on kiwifruit really, and proably wouldnt be eating 🥝🥝 daily if not for their magical effects.

I've purchased a NutriBullet this week and I give 🥝🥝 a scrub to remove most of the fur & blitz the whole thing in a smoothie.

@Darlinghag I do enjoy sweet food like cake, biscuits etc but have always been more of a savoury snack person and I've never been a fan of sweet drinks.

Ice cream would be my go to sweet treat & I manage that by only eating ice cream that is proper gelato from the gelato shop (my daughter works in one). I've gone from 1/2/3 or even 4 x double scoop cone gelatos a week to one single scoop tub a month.

With the diet coke its probably the caffine that is addictive? I've known many people with caffine soda addiction issues over the years. Its lethal. I get it as I couldnt/wouldnt give up my coffee again (done it a couple of times and never again) - but now I drink black unsweetened coffee at home with the odd flat white out & about. I enjoy black coffee now as much as any coffee.

@MooBaggage have you tried reducing slowly? As a habit, sweetening hot drinks has to be one of the worst. Constant little spikes of sweetener can really mess things up. My dad persuarded me as an older teen to stop sugar in tea/coffee etc & I'm thankful for that - it took about a week to change to no sugar & I've never looked back. Maybe start to consider how will sweet hot drinks figure in your post MJ life & diet and work back from there? Do forgive me though as I know I can be super judgy about sugar in tea etc - as a habit it seems so pointless and so harmful.

I spent 3 weeks with my sister this year and she still has 3 teaspoons of sugar in her drinks & I struggled with it. I struggled with her sugar - bloody hell I'm a dick. My internal judgy pants went into overdrive (she just tells me to fuck off & gives me Very Hard Stares 😁🤣). I'll get my coat.

RobinEllacotStrike · 27/06/2025 15:37

"Fruit or yoghurt etc as an alternative doesnt do it for me!!"

My pomegranate obsession provides me with my evening sofa sweetness. Add some 5% Greek yoghurt & its perfection.

I've become rather easily pleased.

I think the biggest change is the move away from food as a source of pleasure, entertainment, reward etc. Food is no longer a point of interest or focus for me, beyond the planning to make sure I have suitable food to eat.

MJ has given me the ability to make this change - its magnificent. This is one thing I really want to hold onto post MJ.

Having said that I do get enjoyment and pleasure from those pomegranates. But I have a side eye on that pleasure at all times.

Still no movement on the scales <sigh>

Gingercar · 27/06/2025 15:41

I love fruit and yoghurt. Im a little bit obsessed! But I don’t have much suppression at all (6 weeks in) and still enjoy food. I think the MJ just backs up my willpower to keep on a healthy diet. I think I like not having much suppression as it is quite realistic as to how it might be when I come off it (next year!)

GiveMeWordGames · 27/06/2025 15:59

I've never taken sugar in tea, and I stopped taking sugar in hot coffee years ago when I stopped drinking instant. However I do still use it in iced coffee I make at home and right now it's definitely iced coffee season. It's barely a teaspoon and I've decided to allow myself that. Especially since the milk gives me some extra calcium to whatever I get from greek yogurt, something I worry about because of menopause.

I never used to concern myself about that before MJ because serious CHEESE habit. So much cheese. I still allow myself small amounts but if there's one thing I do genuinely miss, it's that.

I tried stevia drops and I found the taste slightly odd, I felt a bit weird and couldn't stop peeing. I'm fine with aspartame in diet coke and if I buy an iced coffee I'll just add a sachet of sweetener. The syrups coffee shops use are awful and so sickly sweet.

Where did you buy those from? I LOVE gold kiwis but can only find them in 3 packs in my local Sainsbury's

InfoSecInTheCity · 27/06/2025 16:07

I don’t find myself wanting sweet stuff anywhere close to as often as I did (3 chocolate bars a day anyone, anyone, just me then) but it still pops in every now and then.

Lidl do a range of cereal bar things called Crownfield and their peanut butter popcorn fibre bar is really nice, sweet, peanut buttery and crispy which is a texture I occasionally miss.

alltablenochair · 27/06/2025 16:07

Since starting MJ my appetite for sweet things has all but disappeared. Pre MJ I could (and quite often would) eat whole family size bars of chocolate. Now I very much prefer the savoury stuff. A few slivers of a very mature cheddar and crackers is more of a dessert for me.

I do drink caffeine free diet coke though. It isn't my first choice of drink but after my youngest (autistic/PDA/ADHD) got hold of half a can of coke, necked it and went off like a 🚀 I switched PDQ. I don't really do hot drinks either apart from the very occasional peppermint tea.

Suffice to say my tastes have absolutely changed since I started MJ.

Crikeyalmighty · 27/06/2025 16:47

@Gingercar suppression isn’t really an issue at all though if you are eating the right ‘good for you’ things in sensible quantities and avoiding snacking on shit - it’s a tool to be honest for those who struggle without basically having a need to simply not feel hungry and act on it all the time.I actually came offMJ after5 weeks didn’t like the heartburn and to be honest I have good willpower, but I still follow all the principles of MJ - and am losing at the same rate still as everyone else on here - I like to follow to see how others are getting along. If you are eating well using the principles and losing still - doesn’t matter if you have zero suppression

Crikeyalmighty · 27/06/2025 16:52

@RobinEllacotStrike that’s my favourite - I’m on 2 or 3 tubs a week - the 0 stuff is crap compared to it. My shopping bill is still high because of my Greek yoghurt, berries, and salmon and prawn habits!!

Costco, find them good for random imported fruit. The skins are much thinner than the green ones, I can happily eat these like an apple! The only downside is I have to fight my kids off, they won’t touch the green ones but love the gold ones.

dimples76 · 27/06/2025 18:02

I have been to the gym every day this week which is a first. I am wearing a top today which I bought several years ago online and have never fit into before.

However, I have been in very low spirits this week. Not sure if it has anything to do with mounjaro and I have been on antidepressants since before I started mounjaro. My sleep has been terrible this week too which is obviously not the best.

I finally bought the Langley Farm cottage cheese and as a lifelong cottage cheese hater I am now a convert.

Only a pound down this week but at least it is a loss.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 27/06/2025 18:09

@Slowrunning Was it you that stepped on your own trousers and pulled them down? That proper made me laugh, I'm still giggling at that. I didn't have a mental category for comedy NSVs, I need one!

RobinEllacotStrike · 27/06/2025 18:10

@GiveMeWordGamesi have almost forgotten that cheese even exists. And I am famously known for 20 or more years to call the week between Xmas & NY “cheese week”.

so strange.

RobinEllacotStrike · 27/06/2025 18:12

@dimples76very well done with the gym.
I bet you will feel better when you can get a couple of good nights sleep. Not sleeping well can mess everything up.

Well, to be fair, it absolutely IS cheese week. 😆 Or it was. Can you tell I haven't done a MJ Xmas?

Oh, yes, another fan of the Longley Farm cottage cheese here. It's proper tasty.

RobinEllacotStrike · 27/06/2025 18:51

Ah yes I am eating cottage cheese of course. But it’s not cheese cheese & I don’t consider it cheese.

It’s more yoghurts unfortunate sister. 😎

NSV today!

I took ds2 out for lunch today and the only way back to the car park was up a HUGE flight of steps - probably about 50 steps in total, broken up into 5 x lots of 10 or so.

Honestly, pre-January me would not have been able to do them without a lot of effort and at least one stop to catch my breath.

Ds2 is 6'4" and a skinny fit thing and of course bounds up them, but I at least managed to walk up them, whilst talking to him and I didn't stop! I most definitely didn't 'bound' and he slowed down to my pace, but I got to the top, still able to talk, not wheezing and wanting to die - hurrah!!

This is epic!! I had a similar revelation recently.

I’ve got to remember that I am now a woman who can power up hills as opposed to avoiding them.

Honestly I think it's the handweights work (obvs the weight off helps too, but I'm still technically 4 stone overweight!) - I'm so much more muscle-y and stronger than I've ever been - thighs and arms - moving just feels tons easier.

Am thinking of doing yoga somewhere, but not quite brave enough yet...

It's a bit addictive... 🙄

Rats. There isn't a Costco near me. I'll have to wait until November time and buy a box from Crowdfarming. And carry on buying them from Sainsbury's in the meantime.

My kids also love gold kiwis and slurp them up. I usually end up banning them from touching my kiwis unless I say so. I got a cheapo kiwi cutter thing from Temu as well which makes skinning and cutting up a kiwi 100000% better. Or quicker to eat if the kids are trying to do it without me finding out.

Arghhhhhhhhh

Great start to the day, washing machine appears to have gone kaput, so have a line load of sopping wet clothes in the garden, puddles on the kitchen floor and what I expect will be a fun and unexpected large purchase in my near future.

I grabbed some of these yesterday. I would love not to crave sweet things but 5 months in and I definitely still have a sweet snack daily.

Noooooo...! I hate it when things like that happen. My financial planning is about as healthy as I was pre-MJ. My next big task in life is to sort out my finances so that things like that don't feel like the next few months are completely effed.

Hope you have a dry day where you are so that the washing dries! 🙏

I am a sweet tooth and UPF loving person. Maybe one day I’ll curtail it, today is not that day.

Having said that, I do find sweet cravings massively reduced on MJ. No family sized chocolate bars any more!

I have been known to grate a chunk of very high cocoa chocolate in to yoghurt. Gives a chocolatey hit in a bigger dessert. But I also buy a lot of the chocolate protein puddings (I think Aldi are best, then Arla) and often have one of an evening when pre-MJ I’d have had a tube of Pringles and a tub of ice cream!
