Thread EIGHT - blimey we talk a lot! 😄 Anyone using weight loss injections to lose more than 5st/30lbs is very welcome, no matter what stage of the process you are no.

We're high on protein, low on carbs, upping the water and getting the fibre in any which way we can!

Ooh @GiveMeWordGames we are similar, I am 5’9, also early 50s and started at 17st 3.
It took me 15 weeks to get into the 14s so you are doing well 💪

velvetseven · 26/06/2025 09:25

@mince3point14159265 i had a terrible itchy rash on my legs when I was on 5mg, Allevia worked a treat.
i’m a pound away from healthy weight, have ordered another 10mg pen to help drop a few pounds below and to provide a buffer. Am so delighted with how I look in clothes and am forever buying more stuff, mostly on Vinted. Clothes off is a different matter. I’ve so much droopy loose skin, it’s most unattractive. Keeping my clothes on!

MooBaggage · 26/06/2025 09:29

Weigh day for me and I've lost 2lbs - hurrah!

13.1.25 SW 20st 3lbs BMI 43
26.6.25 CW 16st 7lbs BMI 35.1

Tantalisingly close to having a BMI of under 35...! 😊

Next stop, BMI of under 35, then a 4 stone loss hopefully in a couple of weeks' time.

@IngenTing that sounds horrible... I get headaches at night and have been googling (as you do) and am wondering if they are hypnic headaches so am going to try having a coffee last thing at night. Are you eating enough, generally? I think my headaches get worse if I don't eat enough - particularly the first few days after injecting? Try and keep the fluids up and if you don't feel like eating, try a protein shake to at least get something down you. Hope it eases off soon.

Aw, thank you! I don't know about you, but it feels particularly significant, more than gettng under 16.

Probably because I suspect that I haven't weighed below 15st for at least 10 years, maybe more (I didn't own any scales until I started MJ. I last used to weigh myself regularly at the gym 20 years and many stones ago)

Brilliant @MooBaggage so close to two great mini-goals!

QueenOfHiraeth · 26/06/2025 10:31

@GiveMeWordGames @Sam187 Menthol aqueous cream can be bought from pharmacies and other places including Amazon, it does not need to be prescribed and in many areas GPs would not issue it and would signpost you to buy it. The brand name is Dermacool
It is worth noting that, while this is good for cooling due to the menthol, aqueous cream can cause itchy, red reactions so it is no longer recommended as a long term emollient by the NHS

Emas82 · 26/06/2025 10:49

Morning all. I'm only now on day 2, feeling fine in myself but have got what I would call tender areas, neck and shoulders mainly. Anyone else experienced this?

Looking forward to being under 17 stone in not too distant future
And yes please under 35BMI by end of the summer (need about 4-5kg off to get there.

Well done!!! Hooray

Reginaphalangeeeee · 26/06/2025 11:31

I had a slight red area after my injection (number 23).
This is a first for me.
It took 3 days to go and about size of a 50p.
Not sore or itchy.

Hoping this will not become a thing or get worse reactions. It's a big fear for me that I maybe would react.

Anyone else? Have you had it occasionally or progressive?

Thanks for any wisdom

You probably just slightly caught or twisted the tip of the needle when putting it in or taking it out.

i have become so lackadaisical about injecting now I sometimes rush it and end up with a bruise or bit of soreness,

Dermacool, that's the one, couldn't remember the brand name for the life of me! Mine was for short term use approx 6wks, because of the skin condition and losing my sanity with the itching, it was the only thing that helped. I can imagine long term it might not be ideal mind you.

MooBaggage · 26/06/2025 11:55

Yes the only time I've ever had any soreness from the injection site afterwards, and a tiny bit of bruising, was when I kind of removed the pen at an angle 🙄 - entirely my fault, not the pen's! I'm actually better at it when I use a syringe for the extra doses, because I'm so much more careful...!

I'm WFH today but nipping out to collect 3 x Vinted parcels (from 3 x different locations 🙄😄) - must stop buying things now my weight loss is much steadier, but it's addictive buying clothes in sizes that don't always start with a 2....!

Hmm. Not one I've experienced. Where did you inject? There are known skin reaction side effects as you can see from a few recent posts on this thread. More info here:

Dermacool, right - thanks @QueenOfHiraeth and for the extra info.

@Reginaphalangeeeee I bruised myself a couple of times in the first month by clumsy needle removal. Now I'm just getting the annoying itchy redness every week instead. Still, at least the bloody mozzie bites are taking my mind of it. 😂🙄

@GiveMeWordGames I injected into my stomach area. No sensitivity in that area!

I've turned my clothes buying attention to yoga clothes. Since I started daily hot yoga in November I've just been wearing leggings & vests I already owned. Some became too big, some I fitted again as I shrunk. Most are really quite old & as they aren't necessarily designed to get very sweaty (& hot yoga is VERY sweaty) they are a bit cumbersome when wet.

I needed some more yoga clothes and as I am doing this every day I treated myself to:

  • new MEDIUM size vests from Primark - basic but perfect & I started out wearing 2XL Primark vests;
  • 2 pairs of Sweaty Betty yoga leggings on sale - these are magical and magnificent & I love them;
  • Some bras and leggings from Boody also on sale.

All very lovely & I'm very pleased. Its nice to have proper clothes to wear for my daily exercise.

If you don't know Boody they are worth a look - bamboo jersey clothing from Australia. The leggings are so delightfully soft and gorgeous to wear.
I've never purchased from Sweaty Betty before as they are quite expensive, but I will keep an eye out for sales as their leggings are pretty cool.

I lurk on this thread and read it with awe. I have been taking Mounjaro for 7 weeks and have so much weight to lose. I can't imagine buying medium sized anything, or any clothes from a 'normal' shop. I love reading about happy people buying smaller clothes. It's very cheering.

We are all at different stages but we have all been there with lots to lose. Keep going 💪
There will be ups and downs along the way but someone here will likely have useful advice for the tricky times.

keep going @DBatteryBand - many of us on this thread felt exactly the same way as you.
I'm astonished to be buying "normal" size clothes instead of the biggest size going.

IngenTing · 26/06/2025 13:30

This thread is so supportive!

I was able to go and get a sports drink, so thank you for the tip. I'm thinking that maybe I have a bug as opposed to sideaffects from increasing the dose. I have chills and everything I drink, 30 mins after I vomit. So that's fun.

It's wonderful reading everyone's progress. I m hopeful but a little disappointed to be only 6kg down, I thought it might be a bit faster, but I have read Wegovy is slower.

I got from 114kg to 93kg with Mysimba back in 2021/2022. But by the 93kg, I was practically starving myself. I I ate anything more than a protein shake and some lean chicken and an apple in day, the scales would start going up again. It got to the point where I couldn't train because I wasn't eating properly.

I'm really hoping it will be different this time.

Pumpkinforever · 26/06/2025 13:32

@RobinEllacotStrike I was delighted a few weeks ago to be able to wear a pair of sweaty betty power leggings I received a Christmas, size large. No huffing or puffing to get them on, didn’t have to do a jiggle wiggle to get them over my arse! Might be tempted to get a medium in the sale (will probably wait to august bank holiday offer) as an Autumn goal. I reckon another stone and a half will do it.

Lost another 1lb this week taking my total loss to 4 stone 4lb / 27.2kg which I can’t quite wrap my head around but it makes a massive difference for someone who is 5ft 2 / 158cm

mince3point14159265 · 26/06/2025 13:33

@QueenOfHiraeth thank you for your extra info re Dermacool.

@Reginaphalangeeeee I started getting a reaction at injection site when I went up to 7.5; itchy, red & raised but it went down over the week and was usually almost gone by the following week, but served as a useful reminder which side I had previously injected and now needed to do the other!

I think my rash looks a little better on my arms today, not quite such raised bumps, but it is still quite itchy. Any weight loss this week will be due to the amount of skin I've managed to scrape off!

Oh, weird!

Of course correlation isn't causation and it could be something else, or indirectly related if you're carrying some tension in your neck and shoulders about starting MJ. I guess just see where it goes over the next few days and if it comes back with your second dose.

GiveMeWordGames · 26/06/2025 13:39

@IngenTing hope whatever it is passes soon in that case.

I haven't really started buying new clothes yet but I do play a game each day of trying on at least one piece of clothing that had either become tight or no longer fitted over the last 2-3 years. It's proving a huge motivation. It also results in me wearing some weird clothing combos around the house. 😄Currently sporting a B/W leaf pattern vest top with blue spotty shorts, neither of which fit me a year ago.

Reginaphalangeeeee · 26/06/2025 13:41

Thanks all.
So fingers crossed same thing doesn't happen next time. I have given myself a bruise before but this definitely looked like a skin reaction.
I know a friend of mine started with a reaction like this and it got a bigger reaction each week despite rotating sites. She was told to stop.

The only thing that was different this week is I did it straight after a shower so I don't know if having moist skin could be cause.

RobinEllacotStrike · 26/06/2025 13:48

Do you use alcohol wipes on the injection site first @Reginaphalangeeeee ?
that should have dried off any post shower moisture?

Good work getting into those SB power leggings @Pumpkinforever - they are very supportive aren't they? I feel quite snatched in mine.
