@InfoSecInTheCity I had a small side Caesar salad and some really nice soy and ginger chicken bite things in ‘cosy club ’ ( a chain we have round here) - delicious at around 650 cals -

Apprenante · 24/06/2025 21:51

@InfoSecInTheCity Brilliant!

As a lot of you have been on this medication for quite sometime, can I ask you lovely lot if any of you have had a rash whilst using MJ?
I've been doing a bit of an ostrich thing over the last couple of weeks as prior to developing this rash I also seem to have developed a rather annoying floater in one eye. I scared myself silly reading stuff online and I know I need to go to the opticians, but I was worried it could be related to the jabs and I would have to give up. So when the rash started I firmly buried my head in the sand and I know I need some sense knocking into me before I scratch all my skin off! It started on one arm but has now spread to the other, plus stomach, back and legs as far as my knees. 😩

@InfoSecInTheCity I agree. Even though I have only been on MJ since November there are threads that I have to avoid. I just don’t understand the stupidity of some people, especially those who think MJ is just going to melt away the fat without them putting in any effort to make changes. I think that also concerns me about the NHS roll out with differing expectations.

InfoSecInTheCity · 24/06/2025 22:36

@mince3point14159265

couple of things.

  1. Book an eye test ASAP. I have tonnes of problems with my eyes, have had floaters and generally they are nothing to worry about, but occasionally they are so get it checked and find out. Also wear sunglasses if it’s annoying your they become more easy to see in bright lights your brain notices them more, so wearing a tinted lens helps your brain to ignore them.

  2. Rash, how long have you been taking MJ and how long have you had the rash? If you’ve been taking the MJ for much longer than having the rash then it would be a weird allergic reaction but not impossible. Do you get hayfever or any other form of allergy?

SilenceInside · 24/06/2025 22:37

@mince3point14159265 sorry if this is a stupid question but have you taken an oral antihistamine? I haven’t had a reaction like but I have seen people post about it on threads before.

Thanks @InfoSecInTheCity & @SilenceInside for your replies. 💐

I've been on MJ for 6 months, 4 at 7.5, so it's not like I just started a higher dose.

I've just started taking a piriteze tablet a couple of days ago but probably too soon to see if that's working. I spoke to a pharmacist today who suggested a Eurax cream specifically for itch relief, which does seem to have alleviated the itching problem a little, but need to get to the root of what's causing it I suspect.

I've never really suffered from hay fever before but have had a sniffly nose ever since starting the jabs.

I will book an appointment for the opticians asap!

InfoSecInTheCity · 24/06/2025 22:55

The most likely scenario is just that a bit of vitreous fluid has detached, it’s really common, completely harmless and happens more as we age. Our brains are wonderful things and actually filters them out and just stops seeing them even though they’re still there.

Thank you for your reassurance @InfoSecInTheCity🥰

@mince3point14159265 if you aren't getting relief from that cream there's another you can get prescribed which will definitely relieve the itch, ask for an aqueous one with menthol. I had a random skin condition that started a few years ago and I literally wanted to claw my skin from my body, it was the only thing that relieved it. Makes you go so cold - due to the menthol, but the relief is instant.

mince3point14159265 · 24/06/2025 23:20

Thank you @Sam187🥰

QueenOfHiraeth · 25/06/2025 12:04

@mince3point14159265 Piriteze is a useful general antihistamine but Allevia is also non-drowsy and much better on hives. It is also available as a generic which may be cheaper under the name fexofenadine.
Old-fashioned antihistamines like Piriton (chlorphenamine) are better for skin conditions than the newer ones, but the old ones can cause drowsiness so I would try Allevia first if I were you.
I have also seen people talk online (not clinically validated though) about using a longer pen needle but, whether there is any real basis for that, I don't know.

mince3point14159265 · 25/06/2025 12:14

Thanks for that @QueenOfHiraeth , hadn't even thought about the drowzy side effect. Will give Allevia a try instead. 🥰

Edit for autocarrot!

Evenstar · 25/06/2025 13:06

@mince3point14159265 I had a rash across my chest a couple of weeks ago that looked very similar, I rubbed insect bite cream with some hydrocortisone in it over it, it relieved the itching a lot. It went after a few days and it didn’t come back when I took my next injection so I’m not sure if it was related or not.

Emas82 · 25/06/2025 15:12

Joing you here if that's alright. Just took my first dose. Starting weight 15st 8lbs at 5ft 1in 😬😬😬
I've lost weight successfully before but now being past 40 now it does not want to shift. So I've decided to invest in myself and my health.
I'm hopefully planning on weighing monthly instead of weekly (I get a bit obsessive), but that's only if I don't cave before that!

InfoSecInTheCity · 24/06/2025 21:13

I think I’ve just completely lost any and all patience with the following groups in particular:

  • I’ve not eaten anything except half a grape in the last 2 weeks now I feel dizzy. Is the dizziness because of MJ?
  • Ive been taking MJ for 3 weeks, haven’t changed my diet at all, have eaten 6 sharing bars of Cadbury a day and I’ve gained weight why aren’t I losing weight I thought MJ was meant to be a miracle magic bean solution???
  • I have lied through my teeth to get prescribed MJ, faking my pictures by slumping wearing layers and sticking my belly out, telling them I’m shorter than I really am and putting weights in my shoes and pockets to trick the scales. I’m also doubling by dosing myself twice a week and buying from 2 pharmacies, I feel really ill though. What can I do to stop the nausea, diarrhoea and my brains leaking out of my nose?
  • I got MJ from the really reputable woman I know on Facebook who sells tanning nasal sprays and does Botox from her shed, I really desperately wanted this to work but despite taking it religiously for 2 weeks I haven’t lost any weight yet and she said I’d be losing a stone a week, so not sure what to do now. Help!!

I have to hold myself back from typing my thoughts in a stream of consciousness style rant about stupidity.

😂😂😂

This is why I have given up on Facebook groups, they’re all like this! I would also add:

“I took my first jab on Monday, it’s now Thursday and I’ve only lost 3lb, what am I doing wrong?!”

Yes on the sides/starters. I think the issue with my panini was the amount of cheese, I was not expecting that quantity, and haven’t yet trained myself out of eating what’s on my plate purely because it’s on my plate. I am getting g there though. Had lots of water and a protein shake for dinner and feeling much better today.

RobinEllacotStrike · 25/06/2025 19:09

I did Mounjaro FB groups for about 2 days right at the beginning. Terrifying. I quickly left every single one and decided to just do these threads, where you are all lovely.

NSV - anyone else getting the "double take" look from people you havent seen for a while. I'm getting it quite a lot now - like tonight at a Y12 school meeting there was another Mum I hadn't seen for a year or so. I smiled and said hi & she gave me a very blank look, and then a double take & a quick jaw drop followed quickly by a smile as she realised it was me and I am looking a bit different now.

Yes!

Met up with a couple of blokes at a recent conference that I hadn’t seen for about 4 years, and it was hilarious because they both did a full on jaw drop then stuttered a bit before saying that I ‘looked really well’. They are both really nice men and very careful to never say anything offensive or that could be misconstrued and I could see how hard they were swallowing back a comment about weight.

Hey, back on 2.5mg after stopping.
did start mid March and lost 10kg, 4 weeks 2.5mg and 2weeks 5mg.

ended up really ill on 5mg and as we were going on holiday decided to stop.

back from holiday three weeks, exercising as before and counting calories and no change so decided to go back on.

2kg loss so far and can’t decide whether to stay on 2.5mg or move to 5mg.

initial goal is to lose another 26kg and see how I feel.

has anyone else stopped and restarted?

Welcome to the thread! I think you definitely have to figure out what works for you in terms of weighing.

It sounds like you've got completely the right attitude and this is a really supportive thread if you're struggling with anything.

I started last year. Found 2.5 ineffective then was really ill on 5. Started again this year, took it much more seriously, ate carefully. Found 2.5 mildly effective, currently on 3.75 with no major side effects as long as I’m eating well, with mild food noise reduction. Planning on going up to 5 next week and hoping it’ll be better this time as I’ve taken it slowly.

Yeah got that a bit when I saw quite a few friends earlier in the month I hadnt seen for a while - lots of "you are looking well" and one friend was walking towards me in the street and I wondered why he was ignoring me till he told me he hadnt recognised me!

IngenTing · 26/06/2025 08:51

Joining you if that's ok! I'm on Wegovy, prescribed by my GP. Mounjaro is very very expensive here. 41 years old, 160cm and 109 kg starting weight. Currently at 103kg.

I started in late March and on Tuesday took my first 1mg dose, after moving up. My goodness, my head today is absolutely killing me and I've vomited a lot this morning. It feels like I have a really awful hangover. I've not had any sideffects so far, so this has really thrown me!

Has anyone else experienced this? I feel awful. I'm very much hoping it passes.

GiveMeWordGames · 26/06/2025 09:03

@Sam187 is that aqueous cream GP prescription only or is it OTC/ could a pharmacist prescribe it do you know? Nothing to do with MJ but I react badly to mozzie bites and this year is awful for them so far. Antihistamine cream doesn't touch the itching.

@InfoSecInTheCity all of that is so nail on head. 😂

At 13.5 weeks I have finally broken into the 14s!!😃

5ft 8, early 50s

SW 17st 4
CW 14st 13
GW 11-12 st

I know it's only just but seeing that number feels so good.

GiveMeWordGames · 26/06/2025 09:07

@IngenTing that sounds grim you poor thing. The headache could be from dehydration/electrolyte after the vomiting. Can you up your water intake and get hold of some electrolytes?

I don't know the Wegovy dosing schedule but is the move to 1.0 a doubling, like Mounjaro 2.5 to 5? I had the most SE when I made that move.
