Thread EIGHT - blimey we talk a lot! 😄 Anyone using weight loss injections to lose more than 5st/30lbs is very welcome, no matter what stage of the process you are no.

We're high on protein, low on carbs, upping the water and getting the fibre in any which way we can!

I'd recommend electrolytes for palpitations, etc. Sometimes it is just a case of tweaking mineral balance. I'd second the Vit B's (and others) as @WeAllHaveWings suggests. Pity the doctor wasn't interested - zero interest from the NHS about preventative care and we seem to have to navigate it all ourselves these days.

I came on to say I'd thoroughly recommend the book I have just listened to on audio books - was very insightful and made a lot of sense - putting into context a lot of what we are all trying to do, but also throwing light into the complex minefield of trying to fight obesity in the current climate we find ourselves in. It would be an easy read, and certainly was an easy listen over 2 days.

I happened upon it, after seeing an exert of an interview with Johann Hari online and looked it up.

"Magic Pill: The Extraordinary Benefits and Disturbing Risks of the New Weight Loss Drugs". Johann Hari

I didn't agree with everything, but it was nonetheless a measured and thoughtful exploration of WLI's and I feel better informed.

Something to watch out with B12 tests @gimmemounjaro is there is total serum B12 levels and active B12 levels. My NHS test showed B12 total serum levels within the normal range so Dr used that as an excuse not to take further. But looking at some B12 deficiency forums B12 total serum can show high, especially if you are taking supplements or eating food fortified with B12 - cereals, plant based milks, some flours etc. You need to be off all B12 supplements and fortified foods for B12 total serum levels to be any real use. It is the active B12 that tells more as that is the B12 available for use in the cells, not just circulating and it can be a small % of the total serum.

gimmemounjaro · 22/06/2025 16:10

Thanks @WeAllHaveWings
For the useful info. I do use soy milk and oat yogurt so will check if they are fortified too before testing. BP is 100/69 which I think is fine, but I’ve been dashing around today so will take it again first thing.

Cantwaituntiltheyareover · 22/06/2025 16:31

Hope that those struggling with varying things feel better soon!

But I have to say I am amazed to only be overweight now!
S/W very end of September 18st 7lbs with a BMI of 45.9.
C/W is 11st 13lb with a BMI of 29.8 having lost 92lb!!
Bought some size 14 trousers and despite looking so much smaller than my previous 22-24, heading to a 26 in some trousers, :( they actually fit!!

mince3point14159265 · 22/06/2025 20:57

That's a fantastic loss @Cantwaituntiltheyareover ! Congratulations on your new 'overweight' status! 🎉

Sam187 · 22/06/2025 21:19

Hey, just wondering if any of you went from 2.5mg straight to 5mg or if you did the 3.75mg dose first? I've just ordered my 2nd pen, 5mg and unsure whether to do an in-between step up. I've tolerated 2.5mg well, minimal SE and lost 11lbs so far (W3D6).

gimmemounjaro · 22/06/2025 21:31

I went straight from 2.5 to 5mg without incident 👍

EternalFatalist · 22/06/2025 21:35

I also went straight to 5mg, which I then ended up staying on for about 8 months before moving up to 7.5mg. I had no issues or concerning side effects.

taylorswift1989 · 22/06/2025 22:18

@WeAllHaveWings Feeling faint and dizzy can be symptoms of low blood pressure.

Sam187 · 22/06/2025 22:30

@gimmemounjaro @EternalFatalist thanks for letting me know both! Did you tolerate 2.5 well also? I've been pretty good, but keen to keep seeing the impact and was worried it might plateau, so I've gone for the 5. Last 2.5mg tomorrow. I guess worst case scenario I can always drop back down.

gimmemounjaro · 22/06/2025 22:52

Yes, I had no side effects at all until 7.5mg and even then just an occasional burp. I didn’t lose much on 2.5mg but everything started happening on 5mg.

alltablenochair · 22/06/2025 23:19

@gimmemounjaro constipation wasn't much fun for me either. I'm managing to keep it at bay with a mix of optifibre and a tablespoon soaked chia seeds a day.

Salt when you're feeling dizzy makes absolute sense. Amongst other things I have POTS which isn't much fun. Moving too quickly can mean I find out the hard way what gravity does. While I am able to stand and take a few steps, I've also faceplanted things equally as fast. Increasing salt in your diet increases your blood pressure, increases your blood volume and decreases the levels of standing norepinephrine. Don't go dumping salt on your food by the handful though as this is as counterproductive as its helpful. It's very much a fine art with me.
However it's absolutely worth checking things out with your GP to check there aren't any causes that can be easily resolved first.

alltablenochair · 22/06/2025 23:24

I'm someone else who's feet have puffed up in this heat. It's always been an issue for me though as I don't walk. However I found a cork ball in flying tiger which seems to be really helping alongside regular leg massages from knee to ankle.
Gently using a rolling pin to roll my calves is both surprisingly effective time and surprisingly satisfying at the same time!

@Sam187 I went from 2.5 to 5. It made me feel a bit green around the edges for a few days but nothing too spectacular.

mince3point14159265 · 22/06/2025 23:39

@Sam187I did the bonus dose from my 2.5 pen, and like many others have found, there’s usually a bit more than 0.6ml in there, which made for a convenient bridge to go up to 5mg the following week. Good luck!

MooBaggage · 23/06/2025 06:34

Weigh day after my holiday and I've put just over 1lb on - which I'll take..!

Can't get over how different it feels now - back in the 'diet' days, it was such a struggle to lose that the minute I started gaining again, that would be it - game over.

Today I'm just thinking right then, let's lose this pesky 1lb and crack on 😀

Was a bit scary though how quickly being away meant I stopped even drinking water every day - I'm not very good at being out of routine once I've created one!

So, water, protein, veg will be the order of this week 💪

EternalFatalist · 23/06/2025 07:31

@sam187 2.5 was fine for me as well, and I had a nice rate of weight loss to kick off my journey. The only side effect that I have really had is being cold all the time, which was actually not a bad thing last week when it was over 30C. I'm on my second 7.5 pen and all is still good, knock on wood. I feel quite lucky - I know that it's not the same for most people in terms of side effects.

Evenstar · 23/06/2025 08:53

Disappointing to see that the roll out on the NHS today will only be for BMI over 40 with 4 co morbidities, I have 3 adult children who desperately need it, but only one of them who has 2 of the list. I feel it would be far better in the long run if we offered to young people before they get health problems. I wish I could afford to pay for all of them as well as myself.

gimmemounjaro · 23/06/2025 11:07

That’s not bad going @MooBaggage
Definitely worth it for a nice holiday ☀️

@WeAllHaveWings have you talked to a doctor about your low bp? Mine was 92/59 this morning, not first thing, I’d been up for a couple of hours, out to post a parcel etc. Just wondering if they had any advice for you beyond eating more salt.

TwoBlueFish · 23/06/2025 11:37

Congrats @Cantwaituntiltheyareover thats a great milestone.

TwoBlueFish · 23/06/2025 11:39

@Sam187 ive just done my first 5mg jab after the initial 2.5. Felt slightly queasy but that’s it, my only side effect on 2.5 was constipation. My weight loss was very slow on 2.5 but few like I’m now getting some better suppression and have had a woosh!

NervyWegovy · 23/06/2025 19:57

Im so annoyed. Stayed the same this week and again was in the garden finally finished the Rocks in the garden and I drank loads of water. I dunno just seems when I'm active I do badly I sit on my arse and ill lose 6

Zebracat · 23/06/2025 20:27

@NervyWegovy you’ve probably added muscle, sounds like a proper workout. One of the criticisms of weight loss injections is that sometimes people lose muscle mass. Also ask yourself if you would have been able to tackle these garden tasks so easily before? I am so much more active, up at 6.30 for an early morning swim and then on the go all day. I love it! Non scale victories😊

I know i wouldnt have but its just annoying it just feels like when I'm more active i don't lose and when Im not i lose big and I'm not ready ( especially with my health anxiety)yet really but ive made enquiries about gyms with pools.

One big NSV which is quite embarrassing is when at my biggest I think my anxiety played a part but id feel the need to go to the toilet mostly of a night time and id need to GO then. I can't remember exactly what but I needed a wee and held on for ages

Can’t remember if you’ve ever been tested but needing to get up in the night to pee, and urgency to pee are both symptoms of high blood sugar. One of the first signs of pre-diabetes that most people get. Mine stopped almost immediately when I was diagnosed with T2 diabetes and put on Insulin. Before, by the time I started to feel like I needed to go to the toilet it was almost too late and was a rush to get there in time.
