Next Target 🎯- 13st

Stayed the same this week which is fine and expected. Boss was visiting local office and we were out for lunch and dinner a couple of times, also a bit stressed as my teammates and I have been put under consultation for redundancy. They are moving some of the work offshore so reducing our headcount. Scary thought possibly being made redundant again in mid 50s, it was bad enough in mid 40s! 😟

Nice one

Yeah am currently out at Bingo and the smell of fried food ( and I'm a slave to cheesy chips) and i haven't been tempted. I just feel like i shouldn't be feeling as different as I am so I feel its likely a placebo but either way I'll take it ( as should anyone else 😅)

I read and watched so much about WLI but now I'm on it I'm not sure what I expected but it's odd.

How many injections have you done?

I’ve taken six injections so far. Am taking it nice and slowly, as I tried a year ago and the side effects were too bad. But now I’m healthier overall and watching what I eat much more closely - and drinking lots and lots of water - and things are going well!

I have been ‘at risk of redundancy’ in the formal consultation route 5 times in the last 12 years, each time I’ve ended up with a better job in the same company. Make sure you take a really good look at the options they present but also the options in any other departments, if you have any contacts in other departments you have a good relationship with then ask around about positions they may have coming up. As a member of staff in a consultation period you have priority for any available internal roles, use that advantage.

Hi all. I'm starting soon as have ordered my first one. I'm currently 5 ft 8 and 19st and need to lose weight for health reasons. I have tried various diets over the year but food noise is awful and I never succeed. Hoping this is going to help as I need to lose 6st

shedroof · 07/06/2025 17:15

Please may I join?! After months of deliberation I have my first pen sat in the fridge. I’m going to do my first injection tonight. I feel unexpectedly nervous. Have read lots of excellent tips on here already.
when did you first start feeling a difference in your appetite?
my stats:
age 46
CW 18st 10lb

BMI 42.3
thanks all 😊

I felt a difference almost immediately 😆 I wish I’d started earlier!

I’m 4 weeks in now

SilenceInside · 07/06/2025 19:56

@shedroof I did my first injection in the morning and felt the effects by lunchtime, but I had a pretty strong reaction to the 2.5mg dose. I would also say that it’s also totally normal not to get much or any reaction to the 2.5mg dose. The range of effects is very individual and the 2.5mg dose isn’t intended to produce weight loss for the majority. It can take several weeks for it to build in your system and reach a level where you get the full effects.

I noticed about a week in that it was just easier to make the good choices. I’m still at the beginning, I haven’t felt the real appetite suppressant that some people talk about - I can still happily eat a full meal. It’s just easy to avoid snacks!

Amarajean · 07/06/2025 21:10

Hi all may I join please?
I have previously posted on another thread last November when I'd just started my mj journey but had to stop quite unexpectedly as I ended up in hospital!
I restarted in December and until recently things where going well,I managed to lose 20kg,I was eating healthily and doing some exercise. However, the past couple of months I've hardly eaten anything, the suppression on 5mg is a tad too much!

I'm basically living on a few pieces of fruit a day, hardly any water and lots of cups of tea! Even the thought of food makes me feel nauseous.
I've stopped exercising as I don't want the weight to come off to soon,so as to avoid loose skin.
I'm still on 2.5mg and not sure weather to stop all together.Any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Tia

SilenceInside · 07/06/2025 21:23

@Amarajean if you're still struggling to eat on 2.5mg have you thought about trying a smaller dose from your 2.5mg pen? Maybe a half dose, 1.25mg, and see how you get on?

Amarajean · 07/06/2025 22:01

I meant to say 2.5mg just to clarify!

InfoSecInTheCity · 07/06/2025 22:59

@AmarajeanYou say you feel nauseous at the thought of food, but can you push past it? And are you really just eating fruit, because that’s going to be very low in nutrients, you have no fat, no protein just sugar, fibre and some of the vitamins you need.

Could you try adding in some avocado, green veg with an olive oil dressing, full fat yoghurt, protein shake or a meal replacement shake anything like that? I’m a little concerned that your nausea could actually be a symptom of your lack of food rather than the Mounjaro.

alltablenochair · 07/06/2025 23:28

@shedroof can't say I noticed an immediate effect. More of an effect over time I think. I don't get appetite suppression as such, what I get is a total indifference to food. The easiest way to explain it is that while I could eat a family size bag of crisps right now, I actually can't be bothered.

taylorswift1989 · 07/06/2025 23:29

@Amarajean Maybe try a protein shake, even just add protein powder to your coffee? You need calories and not eating is going to be making you unwell.

It's likely placebo but same day i was getting a nausea/ full feeling after eating and the next day I didnt order cheesy chips ( and sliced hot dogs) at bingo like id been accustomed to. I neither really fancied it or thought about it.

As I say likely its placebo but I'll take it.

Strangely it calmed down mid.week but came back Thursday/ Friday.

dimples76 · 08/06/2025 07:20

@Amarajean that does not sound like fun. Nausea is one of my side effects too. I do find that if I eat a couple of crackers (ritz or tuc) it helps settle me and enables me to eat something more nutritious. For some reason mozzarella, tomato and avocado salad normally goes down well. Or one of my other go tos is M&S bubble & squeak cakes with poached eggs.

I would recommend weight training if you're worried about losing weight too fast. But you will need to eat more protein to do that.

McGuyverTheCat · 08/06/2025 08:23

Please can I join you all? I’m on week 3 of MJ 2.5mg and have lost 11 lbs! I’m delighted as it seems much much easier to make wise choices about my food and to ignore unhealthy snacks. A few minor side effects in week 1 but nothing since thankfully.

My first mini goal is to get my BMI under 40 which was about 1 1/2 stone away so I’m well on the way there.

I’ve been reading all your inspirational posts. It feels impossible that after more than 40 years of yo yo dieting this may help me lose and help to change my habits and mind set to keep it off long term.

MooBaggage · 08/06/2025 09:24

@Amarajean when I've had bad nausea I've used protein drinks so at least I'm getting something in - you need to prioritise protein and calories on those kinds of days. I use a chocolate one as it feels comforting on days where I don't have any appetite. And maybe reduce to 1.25mg to see if that helps?

Feeling a bit disheartened, early days I know and not giving in but urgh.

did my 3rd jab on Friday (2.5), I am down 1.5kg (about 3lbs) but it’s such a tiny drop in the ocean compared to what I need to loose. I’ve been logging everything I eat, no crisps, chocolate, alcohol, “bad stuff”, drinking loads of water. I am constantly constipated so hoping that I’m full of 💩 and when it finally comes out I’ll see a big drop 😂.

Not giving up and I know it’s just a loading dose, just having a little vent to people who understand!

MooBaggage · 08/06/2025 10:30

@TwoBlueFish that's frustrating - but definitely don't give up. You're losing - albeit slowly, so hopefully once you move to 5mg this will increase. Not everyone has big losses on the 2.5mg - it's only a loading dose to get your body used to it. This is a change for life, so keep going!

Re: constipation - I find milled flaxseed really helps (I buy the packets from Tesco)- I stick it in fruit smoothies and choc protein drinks - about 3 x heaped teaspoons does the trick - plus 3 x dates in each smoothie.

You're nearly at the 5mg point, you're doing all the right things and you're losing already - 1lb - 2lb a week is what they say is what should be happening - so just keep on keeping on 💪💪💪

I know not the same but my mum is on MJ for diabetes and is on 5mg she seems to have small weight losses and then a 6lb comes out of nowhere. Don't give up its still going in the right direction

TwoBlueFish · 08/06/2025 13:26

Thanks both. Smoothies are not my thing but I have been mixing some flaxseed into my yogurt and eating a few prunes to help things along!

MooBaggage · 08/06/2025 13:29

I'm feeling v sorry for myself - am poorly with either a stomach bug or some kind of reaction to food. I tried eating peas on Friday night - have reacted to them in the past, but was hoping my new cast iron stomach since starting MJ would be able to handle a few peas in a stir fry..!

Haven't been able to eat without running to the loo since yesterday first thing. Am all shaky and I think very dehydrated as not even water is staying in me very long 🙄

Am off to bed to try to sleep!

OP posts:
NewbieMJ · 08/06/2025 13:31

@TwoBlueFish Keep going - I am having a 10 day plateau which is frustrating as hell, but I have been meticulous and know the scales will have to go down at some point. Sometimes it feels there is no reason whatsoever, but trust the process!

@Amarajean that sounds grim for you. You'll be malnourished! As others have said, either reduce your amount to half, or maybe have longer between doses to see if you can get your appetite up? Best of luck with it.
