Roll up, roll up...thread 3 for the loveliest bunch of losers!

"Onwards & Downwards" has become our little motto for the days when it all feels a bit tough and that wine / chocolate / cake looks a bit too bloody tempting.

Lots of love,
Lass x

I know what you mean about the Fuck It button @Mounraine. I'm having some just plain stupid thoughts this evening, fears really. I'll never lose the weight. As if I'll defy simple maths and the weight will stubbornly cling as though it is an entire lifeform independent of me.
Stupid shit.
Go back to drinking, what's the point. That khaki raincoat I ordered arrived and I just put the package on the side and walked away.

Come on brain. Sorry for the mental health stuff.

Bellee11 · 30/05/2025 20:26

Urggghhh....so having had no stomach issues this week, I was about to take my second jab but was suddenly hit with horrible diarrhoea. Don't think it's the MJ as I'm day 7 so must be low in my system but I went hiking today and ate a Grenade protein bar (for the first time ever) when I got home. Only ate half, thank goodness, because it has definitely not agreed with me 😟. Now going to delay my second jab until things settle. Ffs.

Mounraine · 30/05/2025 20:30

Come on brain. Sorry for the mental health stuff. Don't be sorry Flowers. Let's both decide to stick to it tonight and make bad decisions tomorrow if we still want to.

OhPolly · 30/05/2025 20:38

Evening everyone.

Today has definately been a whirlwind of emotions.

DDog is staying in overnight. She's had a CT scan, echo, bloods and fluid removal so far today. They drained 2.5l from her abdomen and reckon there is a at least another 2.5l remaining (couldn't drain too much as could put her into shock or drop her pressures) but they also removed 300ml from around her lungs too ☹️. Bless her the poor thing.

The good news is there are no obvious masses or rumours or issues with her heart or liver. The bad news is we don't know what's caused this and we have to wait for some sample results to come back.

They've kept her in overnight as she was slow to wake from sedation and was very drowsy still when we got to see her.

The bill for the diagnostics alone is between 2.5-3k. Good job we renewed our insurance!

She may be able to come home tomorrow if she remains stable and doesn't reaccumulate any more fluid. She looked a lot better, just having the first lot removed.

Me and my DH went to Cheshire oaks and I treated myself to a new pair of UGG sandals. I felt sorry for myself but they were discounted to £53 and feel very comfy.

We ate out at Chiquitos for lunch and I had chicken fajitas then we had ice cream afterwards.

Overall not a great day but could be worse x

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 30/05/2025 20:38

Alright, I'm with you @Mounraine.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 30/05/2025 20:42

Oh gosh @Ohpolly. Hope she rests well overnight and then comes home tomorrow for cuddles and ear rubs and rest. Bless you, what a day. I'm glad you got something to eat got some sandals. Hope you are able to get some sleep yourself tonight, I know our house feels enormous when one of the herd is missing.
Here's hoping tomorrow is a brighter and better day.

Fatrosrhun · 30/05/2025 20:49

Oh @OhPolly how crap. But I guess they have checked everything and can speak to other vets/specialists. I’m shocked at the price. We paid about £800 for similar tests and fluid drainage for our last lab (although six years ago). Unfortunately ours had an incurable tumour. At least they’ve ruled that out. And she’ll feel better without that fluid. Really hoping that they work out what it is soon and get her sorted.

SussexLass87 · 30/05/2025 21:04

Sending you all much strength...can absolutely empathises with the mental health struggles. And hugs to DDog too 🙏

Having avoided any tummy troubles I've realised I haven't been to the loo for almost 4 days...got a fybrogel sachet down and blimey, when you're already feeling low level nauseous all the time that is not the thing you want to drink 🤣

Dreading the weigh in tomorrow morning...I feel like I've got a dumb bells in my tummy 😅

Well end of first full day after jab and the munchies are still there!
I have had a good day with no nonsense foods but I am absolutely craving food and snacky treats (my downfall of an evening), I was hoping I wouldn’t feel like this but am aware it is early days.
I have exercised so generally feeling good but the “food noise” is very much there!

Mounraine · 30/05/2025 21:21

@C4tintherug your levels may still be rising. I find the most effect on D2.

Glad to hear from @OhPolly and wishes of recovery to all (human and canine) who are poorly this evening.

@DidILeaveTheGasOn - we've got this! (In full disclosure, I'm having an early night to help me stay strong).

Cucumberinginplease · 30/05/2025 21:34

@OhPolly poor ddog! I bet it was awful leaving here there. 💐 for you and hugs. Hooray for new sandals though. I used to live 10 mins from Cheshire oaks, it's lethal when that close! Does mean I'm.a bit spoiled because of it now and hate paying full price for things!

For those struggling with mind monkeys and side effects, hugs and 💐 for you all too.

We are back from holiday. Weigh in and 3rd Jab tomorrow, a day late. I'm hoping for a maintain as I've not been as clean eating as I'd have liked whilst away, however no snacks, ice creams etc which is a first!

As an FYI, for those hearing about ordering issues; I'm with medexpress, ordered my next pen on bank holiday Monday, it arrived on Thursday (slightly annoyingly as had to get a friend to hot foot it over and rescue it from the garden and pop in the fridge for me!)

AccidentalPrawnYouFool · 30/05/2025 21:56

Only just catching up today. Super busy at work!
@OhPollyhope your lovely dog is better sounds like she’s getting the best treatment
@Mounraineabsolutely hear you re the fuck it button. I try and have a cup of tea that usually puts me off self sabotaging.

Some good news here. Despite my accidental entire bottle of Prosecco last night I managed to hit 1 stone loss this morning. Must have been those chia seeds 💩 (TMI)
I have, naturally, rewarded myself with chicken wine in the garden after a particularly frantic day at work (month end)
Have started to read “Food Noise” by Jack Mosley tonight too. Thank you for the recommendation Brew

SilkCottonTree · 30/05/2025 22:00

@DidILeaveTheGasOn and @OhPolly so sorry you guys are going through tough times, sending hugs.

We’ve been away for half term this week, luckily it’s self catering so wasn’t tempted by hotel buffets etc. We’ve been out for lunch most days, but I have managed to make sensible choices and we’ve had bbqs at the villa most nights, which I’ve only had small amounts of, so although I’ve had a glass or two of wine each night I’m hoping the scales won’t be too shocking when I weigh tomorrow 🤞

I should have had the 4th jab yesterday but didn’t want to bring it with me on the plane so I will do it to tomorrow evening when we are back home. I’ve still had good suppression this week so will stick to 2.5 for next month.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 30/05/2025 22:01

@AccidentalPrawnYouFool Huge congrats on your loss! And tell us more about the chicken wine. Mmm. Is it like gravy?

Moneyordream · 30/05/2025 22:11

Checking in! 4th 2.5mg jab today, weigh in is tomorrow. Definitely feeling like the suppression isn't as good as before so starting 5mg next week. Dreading it a bit as I have such bad stomach issues still. But I'm looking forward to the positives, I have a dress hanging on the back of my door that I want to wear for my 40th in August.

tostaky · 30/05/2025 22:12

@FurryAnimalthanks for sharing that link - i have added kiwis to my weekly shop !!

i went to the gym three times in 4 days (unheard of!!) and i have had two days off and my legs are absolutely restless! I went for a little walk after dinner on my own and admired all the neighbours frint gardens! I am SO middle aged!! Grin
im planning to go to the gym tomorrow and then on monday. I feel everyday is too much (and i havent got the time!!). Im hoping that me going to the gum is the reason im not losing more than 1 kg a week. I eat very little and dont drink so it has to be!

Stick with it. I survived on sheer willpower for 4 days after my first jab and then the food noise gradually started reducing. I also had a couple of bad days at the end of week 2 but it’s been amazing since then and I’m now W5D1. Although I only have mild hunger suppression, the lack of food noise makes it much easier to make the right food choices.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 30/05/2025 23:32

Just weighed myself as an effort to keep myself on track instead of going off the deep end and apparently I've gained 4lbs. Right now, kneejerk reaction is, I'm out. Fuck this. I have 100lbs to lose and I'm on 1300 cals a day maximum.
What a load of bollocks. I could have had chips.

But you’ve weighed yourself at night after a day of eating and drinking. If you weigh tomorrow morning before breakfast it will be different. You’ve also had a bad week and stress and drunk a bottle of wine last night. Please be kind to yourself. Give it a chance.

Girl you can do this. But you’ve had a set back and need to give it time. Xx

AccidentalPrawnYouFool · 30/05/2025 23:43

What @friendlycatsaid. You can’t weigh yourself in the evening and declare it a write off.
I weighed myself after dinner the other night (to prove weight to the pharmacy!) and was 4lbs heavier than I was when I had weighed myself that morning. Rules are: eat nothing, poop, then weigh.
you got this 💪🏻

DBatteryBand · 30/05/2025 23:56

'Trust the process' , @DidILeaveTheGasOn !

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 31/05/2025 06:27

I'm sorry, gah. You're all absolutely right.

DBatteryBand · 31/05/2025 06:44

I do have much sympathy with you, mind. I've just done my weekly weigh in and have only lost one pound. I had big losses for the first few weeks so I do feel very deflated and cake-deprived, as I have about six stone to lose and want to get shifting it, fast.

Ah, well. I will make a cup of coffee and try to be philosophical about it all.

Cucumberinginplease · 31/05/2025 07:20

@DidILeaveTheGasOn and @Mounraine
I hope today has dawned better for you both? I hate the phrase, but it is apt; please practice some self care today? You both sound so deflated and down on yourselves 🙁 what makes you happy (not food!!) And can you do it today?

I'm always 100% better when I'm in nature, ieally by the sea in the fresh air. It's tricky as I live in the midlands now (followed a man which was worth it!) but am a Welsh costal girl by heart and I miss the sea so much. I have been known to drive for 2.5 hours both ways for my fix if I'm feeling particularly low, for me it's better than any antidepressant. Its not always possible now due to where I live, but I make the effort evwry day to be in nature somehow, it helps my mental health in so many ways. I know for my cousin it's time with friends, coffee or a walk. Whats yours? Can you do it today?

I know that for so many of us here, eating will be the dopamine hit we need to silence the sad, it is for me. I think it's absolutely about understanding the sad, finding ways to manage/treat/cope with it and finding an alternative sustainable dopamine hit that doesn't hurt you in the long run. That said, if only it was that easy!

Post holiday weigh in and 3rd jab today for me. I've lost 2lb which I'm thrilled about! I've never been away and lost weight before!
