Roll up, roll up...thread 3 for the loveliest bunch of losers!

"Onwards & Downwards" has become our little motto for the days when it all feels a bit tough and that wine / chocolate / cake looks a bit too bloody tempting.

Lots of love,
Lass x

I'm sorry I came across so sad @Cucumberinginplease. Perhaps I was last night? But I'm much more of a morning person and my morning weigh-in has given me hope (or at least not a disaster). I also love the sea. I'm less than an hour away here, and sometimes after work jump in the car for an evening swim (unless there's an alert Envy - not envy).

Cucumberinginplease · 31/05/2025 07:20

@DidILeaveTheGasOn and @Mounraine
I hope today has dawned better for you both? I hate the phrase, but it is apt; please practice some self care today? You both sound so deflated and down on yourselves 🙁 what makes you happy (not food!!) And can you do it today?

I'm always 100% better when I'm in nature, ieally by the sea in the fresh air. It's tricky as I live in the midlands now (followed a man which was worth it!) but am a Welsh costal girl by heart and I miss the sea so much. I have been known to drive for 2.5 hours both ways for my fix if I'm feeling particularly low, for me it's better than any antidepressant. Its not always possible now due to where I live, but I make the effort evwry day to be in nature somehow, it helps my mental health in so many ways. I know for my cousin it's time with friends, coffee or a walk. Whats yours? Can you do it today?

I know that for so many of us here, eating will be the dopamine hit we need to silence the sad, it is for me. I think it's absolutely about understanding the sad, finding ways to manage/treat/cope with it and finding an alternative sustainable dopamine hit that doesn't hurt you in the long run. That said, if only it was that easy!

Post holiday weigh in and 3rd jab today for me. I've lost 2lb which I'm thrilled about! I've never been away and lost weight before!

Totally agree. I've been away for a few days this week by the coast and weather turned out nicer than expected so have been out walking along coast path most days. Seeing the sea and countryside has been such a good dopamine boost. I need to make more of an effort to get outside walking in nature when I'm back home as it really helps lift my mood.
One of my friends on MJ is using her free time to visit lots of National Trust properties.

Definitely worth trying to find a feel good hobby, even something you can do at home, like a craft?

TreesOfGreen99 · 31/05/2025 08:03

Advice please 🙏🏻
I’m due 2nd jab tomorrow, when do most people take their jab? In the morning and risk SEs but get the benefit of the suppression, or in the evening to sleep through initial SEs?

TreesOfGreen99 · 31/05/2025 08:03

Or some other time entirely!

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 31/05/2025 08:39

I think you're spot on, I need to get out of the house and give the crutches a good go. We are half an hour away from the beach which I love, but I might have to give that a miss until my knee is better. The sea makes me feel so much better!
Currently on the sofa under a lonnnnnnng cat but it would be nice to get out later on.

@TreesOfGreen99 I don't think the time of day does much to impact suppression or side effects, but I'm still on 2.5 - I wonder if it does for higher doses.

U53rn8m3ch8ng3 · 31/05/2025 08:58

4th jab and weigh in today. Started at 12 stone 2, now 11stone 1.
I know that's good, great really, I don't feel like I've lost a stone though 🤣 I also know I've got to eat more. This level of loss is not sustainable and it will pile back on, the first two weeks were so hard to eat and I'm only on 2.5mg

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 31/05/2025 09:26

Oh well done @U53rn8m3ch8ng3!

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 31/05/2025 09:26

Just realised I'm due on, which explains last night's antics <eyeroll> sorry everybody!

dc82 · 31/05/2025 09:43

Aww we get it @DidILeaveTheGasOn ! It’s human to have these wobbles when having a shit week, and that’s without adding in hormones. Also period will cause temp weight gain - when I used to diet obsessively years ago and track my weight daily I know that I gain 4lbs around my period. It does fall back off after but I totally retain water and get all bloated.

stripesdotsdashes · 31/05/2025 09:47

Moan time! I failed at my golden dose! I ordered needles recommended on here, but when it came to injecting it hurt so much trying to put it in my skin I gave up! The needle seems thicker than the pen one I use. Luckily I had my 5mg pen waiting so just used that.

I weighed myself midweek and was thrilled a kg had come off, but then on proper weigh-in jab day it was back on, no weight lost this week 😭

So I'm plodding on, no inches lost either. 3kg since starting so not all bad. Let's see what this higher dose month brings.
I'm eating really healthy, loads of exercise, just unbelievable how much my body doesn't want to let go of this weight!

MsTamborineMan · 31/05/2025 09:55

Has anyone missed a week?

I'm going to a festival in a couple of weeks and I'm thinking of skipping a dose, I've not had too bad side effects but I don't really want to be feeling nauseous or having the runs in a portaloo! And food options will obviously be limited and probably not the healthiest which might make me feel worse

I don't want to undo my progress but equally want to enjoy my time. I'm not sure what to do!

notgonnafail · 31/05/2025 09:59

Glad you've worked out why things went all doom and gloom on you @DidILeaveTheGasOn ! Hormones are such devils, they really put us through the wringer.

Hope you're feeling a little brighter now too @Mounraine.

Sending lots of positive thoughts to DDog and to you too @OhPolly and hoping that the tests will find something that can be put right (hopefully without breaking the bank). Our furries are such important members of the family, and it is horrible to see them struggling.

Post jab side effects have eased now, and had a couple of days of gain while my body adapts to the sudden and effusive clearout it got on Tuesday! I'm wondering if I need to lower the fibre a little, as both weeks have given me quite drastic reactions. Am also dithering about whether to split the dose over the week when the time comes, in the hope of minimising SE, but as I'm not seeing a massive amount of suppression or lack of food noise, I worry that might not be ideal either. Am going to persevere though as I know that I may just need a higher dose to get the good effects, but am going to try and work out in this next 2-3 (if I just have another 2.5 out of the golden dose) weeks of 2.5 how to minimise fallout post-jab!

Hiya!
Im week 2 day 5, on 2.5mg, first week the suppression was great and i lost 6lbs, but this week I'm feeling hungry, and scales have only dropped 1lb so far.... I have to admit being half term I've not exercised as much with the kids off school!! First jab was left side tummy, this week right side tummy...if that makes any difference!!

Question is, do I keep going at 2.5, or, do I go for 5mg?

Hows everyone else getting on?

RoaryMouth · 31/05/2025 10:40

Took jab 3 yesterday. So tired this morning and it’s taken me a while to make the connection. Exercise class has helped wake me up!
I’m lucky to live by the sea (for those who like a bit of sea air) and I don’t think I could move to somewhere without water outside again. It’s so calming after a busy day.
Big loss week 1 but only a lb loss at week 2? Bigger loss during a sneaky midweek weigh so I wonder if my old scales are faulty. I definitely couldn’t have put weight on from then.

Mounraine · 31/05/2025 10:46

I think it's because you blunt the needle by poking it through the rubber. It's possible to buy the stuff where you extract the drug with one needle and then replace it with the tiny ones we normally use for piercing the skin. I'm afraid I don't know the exact details though as I'm not using a fifth dose.

Mounraine · 31/05/2025 10:49

My NSV, as well as the colleague noticing my weight-loss earlier in the week is that I no longer have a belly poochy thing overhanging my knickers waistband.
(I remember about ten years ago when I was mid-30s and pre-menopausal and a size 8, a classmate referring to her BOF and not having a clue what she was getting at. Unfortunately, I am very familiar with this concept now).

Seahorsesplendour · 31/05/2025 10:51

Morning all

@OhPolly hope you get some positive news today

@DidILeaveTheGasOn I've woken up in a right grump today! Also fear hormones are to blame!! Chocolate always gets me through but no interest at all so not really sure what to do with myself tbh!!

I know I should be happy I don’t want it but today I’m wallowing a little!!!

Maybe it’s a general adjustment period as we get close to the end of our first month! It is a huge life change!!

was happy with 1lb weight loss this week after the first 2 dramatic weeks!!

it did cross my mind that my weigh in is out of sync with jabs as I moved the days so I weigh on day 3 of jab not sure if that helps with the numbers given first 4 days I eat less!!

sw 17st 10
wk 1 17st 2
wk 2 16st 8
wk3 16st 7

1st goal 14st
end goal 10st

Woodywig · 31/05/2025 11:06

Hello may starters.

quick update from me.

Week 5 weigh in on Thursday and had lost .5 on a kilo.

I’m with SheMed who automatically prescribed the 5mg dose for my second pen. As my suppression has been low on 2.5 I decided to go straight for the full 5mg dose on Thursday evening.

No SE effects to report - suppression still not particularly strong (we were on a day out yesterday and took lots of will power not to indulge in an ice cream!)

feel the feeling of fullness is increased on this dose. It doesn’t come on straight away - but around 20 mins after eating I feel very satiated. This of course helps with limiting snacking.

NSV:

bra is now on last clasp! Will need a new one soon

skin looks very healthy. Husband keeps telling me how beautiful I look (bless him).

clothes that were on the tight side now fitting nicely done even loosely - looking forward to going down a size!

onwards & downwards! Good luck everyone xx

OhPolly · 31/05/2025 11:12

Morning,

No update on DDog as yet, so no news is good news. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻

I weighed myself this morning and total loss for week one was 3.4kg/7.5lb. I did expect there to be a lot of water weight and that's also after treating ourselves yesterday.

I did the second jab of 2.5mg this morning. Hopefully not bruised myself this week!

I have a wedding dress fitting next Saturday. I'm obviously trying to lose weight but hope there's not too much of a huge difference.

I might try and find my weight loss chart from last time I was on MJ to show you all my weight loss from last time. We only stopped to TTC.

After everything that's been going on, it's definitely been the right choice to put TTC on hold and focus on losing some weight.

OhPolly · 31/05/2025 11:19

Here is my weight loss tracker from last time I was on Mounjaro. I'm not sure I kept it all up to date but this is what I could find.

My stats from last time were as follows:

SW 130kg (23/08/2024)
LW: 106.6kg. (06/01/25)

So a total loss of 23.4kg which wasn't too bad!

I've mainly maintained my weight around 109kg and only ended back up at 114.8kg over this last month due to severe binge eating.

So it did work for me and the 4 months I was off it, I mainly maintained and that was with normal eating.

@OhPolly bless you! That’s amazing results though well done! X

OhPolly · 31/05/2025 11:21

So for this journey, I'm going to use a different weight loss tracker and thought I'd post it here for you all ☺️

There are loads of different ones around on the internet though.
