Interesting to read about insulin resistance, had never heard of it before : though I’ve been told ( many times , at MANY slimming clubs over the years ) that not eating means your body holds on to the weight you’re trying to shed .

I had my first injection yesterday and today I have a really sore neck. Has anyone else experienced this? I’m on mounjaro.

Hiya @Notreallybarbie1 I had the exact same thing too and in same place! I found a thread on Reddit where quite a few folks had the same thing and said they thought it was an immune response? I don’t know if that’s true or not but that feeling only lasted for 24hr for me and now I’m fine so fingers crossed it’ll be the same 🙂

DottyMcDiet · 18/05/2025 18:21

I took my second jab this morning and can feel the suppression already.

It started to wear off towards the end of last week but not too much. I had first alcohol on Friday night, just one small glass of Sauv Blanc from a bottle I opened last weekend 😮 When I finished that I didn’t want more and didn’t put another bottle to chill.
I had half a pizza and a glass of red on Saturday night and could have drunk more but it wasn’t a struggle not to.

Have lost 2.9kg in my first week 🎉

cherrybobbins · 18/05/2025 18:23

Hi, took my first jag on Friday so just thought I would join. Currently at 105kg been trying diet since October and lost just short of 2st but can’t seem to get any further so Mounjaro it is. Didn’t want to eat at all yesterday just wasn’t hungry and much the same today but I’ve got horrendous sulfur burps and a gassy feeling stomach today so hoping that doesn’t last!

Oh really hope so - thank you. Apart from that it’s definitely working - I don’t feel remotely hungry.

tkband3 · 18/05/2025 19:08

Hi all, sorry for the radio silence since my first post at the beginning of the last thread - I can’t keep up!

Big congrats to everyone on losses so far and huge commiserations to those who are suffering.

I was really disappointed at the end of my first week - having completely changed my eating habits I hadn’t lost a thing! A bit better this week - down about 5lbs so happy with that.

So far, other than mild constipation, I’m not suffering any side effects which I’m really relieved about. I need to order my next pen and am wondering whether to move up to 5 or just stick with the slow and steady weight loss on 2.5. I’m so scared of nausea and vomiting and not sure I want to risk it!

Has anyone moved up to 5 yet? And if so, what has been the difference in side effects?

BerfyTigot · 18/05/2025 19:21

Was doing ok today until just now when I had diarrhoea again. I seem to be ok if I take immodium. Otherwise not.

Is anyone else taking it every day? I'm considering delaying the next dose until it has settled down.

Kidsaregrim · 18/05/2025 19:33

Hey everyone!

I’ve taken my first jab this afternoon!
to be transparent I had weight loss surgery 10 years ago and lost 10 stone over two years, I have gained 5 stone back and terrified I’m going to be looking at 22st on the scales again if I don’t do something. I’ve tried ozempic previously but didn’t get on with it - I have put 3st on since I stopped it (a year ago)!

CW 17st
GW 12st

I have never been in the healthy BMI category even at my lowest after surgery and I looked very skinny I think it’s because I have a heavy head 🤣

loving reading all your posts!

AccidentalPrawnYouFool · 18/05/2025 19:44

Everyone is talking about protein - what’s the reason behind needing to eat more particularly?

GherkinsOnToast · 18/05/2025 19:58

Does anyone bruise at their injection site? I take another injection too and never bruise but this one a corker of a bruise each time.

I had jab 3 on Friday and have lost all interest food, I'm still enjoying really tasty food but the odd Maccys fried and milkshake and rather sadly a Waggamama meal all fell flat this weekend. Just no interest at all.

I'm nearly 4.2kgs down from my first jab day.

Elle771 · 18/05/2025 20:08

W1D4 and my God does the tiredness end?!

Was anyone else wiped out at start but got more energy as time has gone on?? Not sure how I'll cope at work when I can't take a nap this week 🙈🙈

On plus side am enjoying having no urges or hunger pangs at all 🎊

I must admit that I seem to get this as a SE. Did my first jab on Sunday morning last week and felt very tired and flat all day and all day Monday. Just thought I was just tired/a bit floored by silencing the food noise, but jabbed again this morning and the knackered/fed up feeling is back. Keeping an eye on it. Hopefully it will lift for you @Elle771

Mounraine · 18/05/2025 20:21

Everyone is talking about protein - what’s the reason behind needing to eat more particularly?

I have no expertise in this, this is just from what I've read and listened to, but off the top of my head my understanding is that protein:
It increases satiety - you feel fully for longer.
It reduces food cravings.
It improves your metabolism (protein takes more energy to metabolise than carbs).
Along with resistance exercise it preserves muscles. This has lots of benefits as we age, but in terms of weight loss muscle is a sponge for blood sugar. If the sugar is stored in our muscles it's not being stored in our fat cells.
Finally, lots of the above help with hormone regulation.

Mounraine · 18/05/2025 20:23

Yes, week 1 I was napping every day and desperate to get home from work for a nap. Week 3 and it's improving; only needed a nap on days 1 and 2.

lissie123 · 18/05/2025 20:28

@tkband3 I have been dithering over whether to stick with 2.5 or move up to 5mg. I’m w2d5 and have just been starving today ( think it’s wearing off). I want to order my next pen soon because I’ve got a busy month ahead and I don’t want to forget/ get caught in a backlog.

Am I the only person who isn't getting much appetite suppression? I'm W1D2 and could manage a 2nd lunch right now, followed by an ice cream. ☹️

Edit: 1st lunch was high protein.

Edited

Very little appetite suppression for me. W2D1. However, have only had 1 lunch this week. Disgusted that I've been eating my 'pack up' 9.30 ish and then going to buy lunch at lunchtime previously.

Went out last night, are a lot pizza, garlic bread and starters. Have still drank on a couple of days this last week.

Jabbed at 3ish and feel so incredibly tired now

Peachblossom25 · 18/05/2025 20:36

GeraniumRoseblush · 18/05/2025 17:10

@Peachblossom25 hello fellow slow loser 👋 happy to have another joiner in the club 😀 1lb at a time is all it takes 👍

Have you tried raspberries for the constipation? Worked a treat for me!

Thank you for the tip! I’ve got some in the fridge so will go eat some now 😊

2old4thisshit · 18/05/2025 20:46

@BerfyTigot ive been poorly with diarrhoea. Wed, Thurs and Fri, I was so rough. Took 3 Imodium packets. I’m feeling better now, I am leaving my dose off until the end of this week, as I really don’t want to be off sick again.
I am going to halve my dose to 1.25 the chemist says this may help with side effects.

BerfyTigot · 18/05/2025 20:54

@2old4thisshit sorry to hear that it's similar for you. How do you take a smaller dose?

I've just been considering giving up. I can't believe what I've put my body through over the years, all to try to lose weight.

I'm due to take it again on Tuesday but I can't have another week like this.

Elle771 · 18/05/2025 20:55

@dbatteryband @mounraine So glad it's not just me! I guess tiredness is better than sickness and diarrhoea 😬😬

hottubsundays · 18/05/2025 20:57

PandyMoanyMum · 18/05/2025 12:11

Morning all. I’m 52 and 5’6”. Reading the threads is what inspired me to believe it could be possible to lose weight with mounjaro. Managing feeling hungry and miserable alongside all the other shite life throws has been what has meant I haven’t stuck to a diet in years. I also have 3 friends who are doing it and they have done so well. I’m W2 D1.

So not the huge losses some of you have had but I have had minimal side effects and it’s going in the right direction without the constant internal fighting against eating.
One odd thing is that I have stopped snoring straight after my first injection. My DH is really chuffed! Has anyone else had this SE and will it last??

Mine hasn’t mentioned it but I’m sure he would be thrilled if it had that effect on me!

GeraniumRoseblush · 18/05/2025 21:03

@Elle771 @DBatteryBand @Mounraine yes I'm also feeling a big lack of energy. Have you found anything to make it a little better?

hottubsundays · 18/05/2025 21:06

Yes, hoping it’s my inexperience and by the time I bare all in a bikini by the pool I won’t be covered in bruises!

Mounraine · 18/05/2025 21:09

Berfy Flowers that post really struck a chord 😔. I hope you’re ok.

@GeraniumRoseblush i find my energy levels really dip on days 1 and 2. Walking and getting to the gym help me feel like my batteries are recharged but day 1 I really, really prioritise rest. To be honest I’d started taking one rest day a week anyway. Probably my age but I learned that I just can’t be on the go 7 days a week. I just get peopled out.

Elle771 · 18/05/2025 21:25

@GeraniumRosebush I've survived with naps and early nights this weekend... not sure how I will fare with busy week ahead! 😅🙈
