@Merluzzothe syringe looks big but the needle on it is the same size as the pen ones xx

Merluzzo · 26/05/2025 10:56

@26dX Ah, thank you. That sounds do-able.

Mounraine · 26/05/2025 10:58

Thinking about the golden dose, I’ve seen you order additional needles that don’t come with the pen, are they normal syringes? I’m not sure I could cope with that, the tiny MJ needles are fine but anything larger I might faint due to needle phobia!

I think the needle is blunted after being used to extract from the pen. Some people replace the extracting needle with one of the small needles we use with the pen so it's thin and sharp for the skin.

Merluzzo · 26/05/2025 11:01

Thanks @Mounraine , that makes sense x

W1D2 today felt so tired since I injected last night and have horrible headache. Had to lie down to nap twice today. Really hoping it's just my body getting used to it and my energy comes back?

Felt exactly the same yesterday - exhausted, really off, headache etc. when I tried to eat felt sick and the smell of foods around me were repulsive to me. I felt like my blood sugar was low so drank a sugary drink and I perked up by the afternoon and managed to eat in the evening.

At this stage I can’t see myself going up to 5mg - if this is what 2.5 feels like.

Definitely felt like low blood sugars on day one, it was like wading through mud and major brain fog. I had to force myself to eat dinner, but felt so much better afterwards. Also had a spoon of honey.
Now making a conscious effort to eat regularly to keep energy level up and that helped a lot yesterday. I downloaded the Nutracheck app to keep track of what I'm having and make sure I'm getting enough protein and fibre, etc.

planesick · 26/05/2025 13:08

@WeaselTrap I would like to wear mine too...they are tucked away safely..but it would be nice to get them out again.
Question for you all: why do people move up to the next level? How do you know you need to? I am starting to think about next month now and I am not sure what I should do.

Morning all

@OhPolly so sorry for your loss💐 and welcome! a wedding! When? We need details 👏💒

Well, holiday hasn't derailed me so far. I'm not particularly 'clean' eating at main meals, but and eating much smaller portions and managing normal yoghurt, fruit, salad etc at breakfast and lunch. No desire for icecream and cakes and movie night was sans popcorn for me, hooray!

@Mounraine if I loose my aimed 2-3 lb a week, I should be at my target by mid to late August. A bit like @DidILeaveTheGasOn I'm trying to look at it as the investment in me, long term rather than a total cost. Although I have to say, I am aware of the financial impact.

After the ectopic in February, we decided to book our wedding for this September!

I found a dress that I'd seen ages ago but was out of stock online but managed to find it in a size on vinted so ordered that. I then took it to a seamstress who already needs to take it in a bit, especially off the shoulders as I lack big boobs.. so I'm a bit anxious about actually losing too much more weight?

The dress is beautiful and covered in sequins. It's one from ASOS- I'll find a picture of I can.

We are getting married in a country house- a twilight wedding with a BBQ option which suits us down to a tee!

I've yet to start on wedding decor though, I keep putting that off!

Has anyone else made a list of goals? I have a list of several different goals for different stages of weight loss and also have given myself some financial incentives for each bit of weight I lose!

Last time I was on MJ, I set a target that for every 7lb I lose, I'd add double that amount to a savings pot and I bought myself a Chanel perfume with it as a treat 😂

My highest weight two years ago was 136.6kg and I got down to 106kg back in January. I have mainly maintained around 110kg for the last 5 months and only recently went on a heavy emotional binge for 2-3 weeks which increased my weight gain by another 4kg, woops!

If I'm being honest, it feels a bit more of a relief to be back on MJ again and gives me something to focus on and control.

@DidILeaveTheGasOn Well done on your loss 11lbs is fantastic!

Good news here, I have had no side effects today 🥳🥳🥳 so I'm planning stay on it! So pleased. But I won't be moving up to 5mg in a hurry!

Commiserations to all those suffering, hope you also begin to tolerate it too.

Lefuzzy · 26/05/2025 13:16

Is anyone else suffering aching legs?

BerfyTigot · 26/05/2025 13:19

@Mounraine @Seahorsesplendour
Thanks to you both for your support when I was almost unable to get off the loo! And thanks to anyone else whi gave me encouragement- was so close to giving up.

LessWeightKate · 26/05/2025 13:20

@planesick This is my second go with MJ, so I can only reflect on what happened last time when I didn't go up the levels. Basically, I got halfway through my second pen, and was ravenous! I stopped taking MJ for a separate reason, but I knew that this time around, I'd need to at least give myself the option of a higher dose.

I took a golden dose of 2.9 last Friday from my 2.5pen, and this Friday, I'll go up to 3.5 from my new 5mg pen to stay ahead of the hunger without a sudden jump in side effects.

TLDR: Ordering a 5mg pen gives you some flexibility.

@OhPolly Beautiful dress! 😍

Mounraine · 26/05/2025 13:24

@OhPolly your wedding plans sound lovely. I would love to hear more about your plans for weightloss milestones. I lack inspiration and am never very good at celebrating success, but think I'd benefit from breaking my 'journey' up in to stages.

@BerfyTigot that's great news! (And a bit similar to my recent decision to stop and then quick re-decision to continue).

@planesick I've just ordered my third 2.5mg pen. I haven't got massive suppression, but am happy with current weightloss and very nervous about side effects. Saying that, current treatment for my symptoms is looking more and more likely that it's a coincidence and not really related to the MJ.

OhPolly · 26/05/2025 13:44

I thought I'd just copy and paste the different "First's" during this weight loss journey.

(From starting weight of 114.8kg/253lb)

  1. First new stone bracket (17st 13lb/114kg/251lb) = 25/05/2025

  2. First into new KG bracket ending with 0/5kg (110kg 👇🏻⬇️📉) =

  3. First 5lb lost (248lb/112.5kg) =

  4. First 5kg lost (109.8kg/242lb) =

  5. First 1/2 stone lost (246lb/111.8kg/17st 8lb) =

  6. Every 5% starting body weight (109kg/240lb/17st 2lb) =

  7. Severely obese ➡️ obese (98kg 👇🏻⬇️📉) =

  8. 10% from start weight (100kg) =

  9. 1/4 weight loss to first goal weight (107.3kg) =

** These are seperate to other longer goals but one I'm going to keep a momentum of during this time for all the firsts!

Fatrosrhun · 26/05/2025 13:44

That’s great news @BerfyTigot - must be a huge relief.
And @OhPolly the wedding sounds amazing with a gorgeous dress. I wonder how far down the path we will all be by the wedding?

I went to a party last night. Unfortunately didn’t have time to eat between work and the party. There was the most fabulous buffet. I had a lot of carrot and pepper batons with a little humus and some mozzarella balls with sun dried toms. I offered to drive so just had one glass of fizz. Later on I had two teeny tiny bite size quiches and a slice of baguette. So not the best evening meal, but could have been worse!
I still have A LOT of food noise. But it does seem a little more so today on day 6, so I am still getting some MJ affect. But I think I’ve done most of the hard work this week by myself. It will be interesting if I get more MJ support after the next jab. I might be better when I’m on 5mg, although I was hoping to use the golden dose and a couple of 3.75 jabs to prolong the pen and decrease cost. In reality I can’t afford MJ but can probably limp through summer.

Woodywig · 26/05/2025 14:47

Hi all,

quick question for those in week four. Are you going straight up to 5mg next shot? Or are you planning on an intermediate dose to get you used to the higher strength.

my next shot is in a few days and should be the 5. I haven’t had side effects or much suppression 2.5. But I do feel full
more quickly and with lots of effort - I’ve lost around 1kg per week.

i’m thinking of taking as prescribed - and going straight up to 5. Would love to know what others are planning / doing.

Thanks

Mounraine · 26/05/2025 14:52

Thank you @OhPolly, am going to choose some of those and start milestone-ing :) But what kinds of 'celebrations' do you have? That's the bit I'm bad at. I just tick of a goal met and focus on the next one.

CrimsonElevenDelightPetrichor · 26/05/2025 14:53

I'm on week 2 and I feel like there's more suppression this week. I'm injecting into the thigh if that makes a difference. Last week I was eating full meals, just with no snacking in between. I'm struggling to eat full meals this week.
@LessWeightKate I thought about ordering a higher dose pen but only using half a dose, but then thought it would expire anyway, so no real advantage. Do you reckon you could just keep it in the fridge for longer than 30 days?

SussexLass87 · 26/05/2025 14:55

Ohh I love hearing wedding plans - the dress is absolutely gorgeous. The list of "firsts" is such a good idea!

Well done to all of us for getting through a long weekend...❤️❤️

Weird one - after I maintained this week. I've felt absolutely rotten all weekend, loads of food noise and just feeling low....and my period started today 5 days early. I'm never early so guessing it must be the MJ? No wonder I felt like rubbish.

Definitely a lesson in being kinder to myself and listening to my body.

On the odd side effects - definitely less of the dreaded lip hair (recently 41 and that's appeared out of nowhere!) And not having to wash my hair everyday.

Happy long weekend to everyone...onwards and downwards! 💪

@Woodywig
Im planning to take the golden dose for week 5 (and hopefully get a little more than 0.6ml out, which would make the dose slightly over the 2.5mg).

Then from week 6, I'll be moving up to 5mg as prescribed

CrimsonElevenDelightPetrichor · 26/05/2025 15:20

How do you calculate the amount for the 5th dose?

LessWeightKate · 26/05/2025 15:31

My son, who is more numerically minded than me, says that as there are 240 clicks in each pen, there will be five doses of 3.75 that can be taken within the 30 days.

Sum: 4 x 60 clicks = 240 clicks
5 x 45 clicks = 225 clicks (to give 3.75)

Plus there will still be a bonus dose which could take me outside of the 30 days, if I used it.

There are plenty of videos on YouTube from 'medics' suggesting that the 30 days only applies if the pen is stored out of the fridge. I'm using a 5mg pen just to give me some dosage flexibility, not to dice with expired meds 😅

I think it's more likely that my dose will need to increase beyond 3.75 before the end of the month, and I'll use it all within the time limit.

lissie123 · 26/05/2025 15:32

@Woodywig l’m similar.I was going to gradually increase with 3.75mg next week and up to 5mg the following week but this week has been hard because of minimal suppression on 2.5mg, so I’ve decided to go straight to 5mg now because of the lack of suppression. It’s almost as if my body is now ready for it?

Quitepossibly · 26/05/2025 15:37

Carodebalo · 23/05/2025 17:20

Hello, I’m new here, I had my first jab last night. I have felt fine this morning, but felt cold all afternoon, flu like. Not sure if it’s Mounjaro or if one of my children has passed on a virus (one has been ill all week …) So far I’m still hungry so the food noise has not stopped yet, unfortunately. I know I need to be patient and see how this goes. I’m just so terrified I’ll be the one and only person that Mounjaro does not work for. I really want to lose weight and have thought so long about taking this … I really can’t wait not to feel hungry anymore, I really hope that day will come soon!

I too took my first dose on the evening of the 22nd and I could have written your post. Day 1 and 2 I felt really cold. Have had some suppression but it's been less than expected and I'm feeling hungry. Have maybe lost 1lb but the scales keep fluctuating. Like you, I'm worried it won't work as I now feel so emotionally invested in this journey.
