@TimeForTeaAndMe how long have you been struggling to eat for? I wouldn't worry about a week of hardly eating. Just keep up the fluids and salts and go back down to 2.5mg next week?

(My mind is boggling - what is a button crotch??).

LessWeightKate · 23/05/2025 11:01

Took my fifth 'golden' jab today and weighed in: another pound down (probably more, if I wasn't currently in the bunged-up club!) I'm very happy to have lost 11lbs so far with no stress.

I used what was left in my first 2.5 pen this morning -- drew up enough for a 2.9 dose, which will be my stepping stone before starting my 5 pen. I'll see how I react to this slightly higher dose first before deciding whether to take 3.75 or the full 5mg next week.

My suppression is still decent. I'm in no hurry, but the last time I tried MJ, suppression wore off very fast in the second month, so I am definitely going to move up. It's just a matter of by how much!

I totally agree with you. Slow and steady here but certainly not those huge losses you see people saying on social media etc.
I think the media has it hyped up as if some sort of miracle is going to happen.

You still have to eat and go about your daily activities.

I'm finding it easier to get through the day without snacking or looking for a biscuit. Definitely a real boost to will power.

But all those saying it's cheating. It's so not. This is still hard work.

Absolutely this!! The one person I have told said "oh you're lucky you don't have to try" erm I am still having to try thanks 😅🙈

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 23/05/2025 11:37

Before I looked into Mj, I thought it must have magical powers and deal with any calories consumed in a quiet and dignified fashion and I could just continue living my life in exactly the same way. Was I really naive (and honestly a bit daft) to think that or had I unwittingly absorbed a lot of media hype and lack of factual information?

When I realised I'd have to overhaul my diet and actually exercise I was genuinely stunned. I am quite gullible and take things as fact quite often. I wonder if other people see it as cheating because they too have internalised some dross about Mj in the way I did.

Feel a bit daft admitting that but hey ho.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 23/05/2025 11:40

Speaking of exercise, I really need to get something sorted for my first gym session on Monday or I'll be going in my pyjamas! Just feels wrong to order clothes now but I do need to, I have zero workout clothes.

Must remember that it is not a waste of money. I am not a waste of money.

Wow, accidentally got myself in the feels there.

@planesick I love Nutracheck. It's simple to use, uncluttered and I haven't found anything that isn't in their food database. I think you do eventually have to pay for it but at £28 for the year, totally worth it IMO.

I am tracking calories because I need to re-learn about portion sizes but also want to make sure I'm getting enough protein. For my weight I have to get >100g a day so I'm very focused on it

SaintAgatha · 23/05/2025 11:47

@LessWeightKate I’m in the bunged up club too, hoping to lost half a stone with my next decent poo. 😂

AlicesMum2025 · 23/05/2025 11:52

@LessWeightKate I was very backed up too, so much that I lost 0.5kg/1lb when I finally 💩 🤣🤣🤣

I was taking psyllium husk, Movicol, inulin gummies, senna and bisacodyl (not all at the same time mind). I'm not sure what finally worked but I think my body has got used to MJ now because I've been regular this past week (w4). Hang in there, it will pass (literally!)

lifetheuniverseandeverything42 · 23/05/2025 12:02

Only on week 1, but it does make it so much easier to eat less. Not magic, just easier to make good choices. Even when I am hungry I am making a bean salad rather than grabbing a biscuit/pack of crisps etc.

I really wonder if this medicine would work for other addictions as it seems to help those who are drinking too much as well. I think there is evidence about opioid addiction but I wonder if it would work for other compulsive behaviours too. I really find it quite fascinating. My brother died a few years ago essentially due to drug addiction and I really wonder if this may help people with this in the future.

That half inch is so important, right? 🤣 Have a great week, twin!

AlicesMum2025 · 23/05/2025 12:07

Week 3 weigh in today, took 4th 2.5mg jab last night.

Wk1 -3.3kg (7lb)
Wk2 -1.8kg (4lb)
Wk3 -1kg (2lb)
Total -6.1kg (13lb)
BMI -2.4 points

After 2 weeks of barely 💩 things have improved this week so I'm not concerned anymore. I'm a bit worried I'm losing too fast but I have a massive amount of weight to lose so I think that is part of the reason (the other being that I was eating so horrifically before).

I was hoping for 1kg per week (2lb) and I think now my initial water weight has gone that is more likely to be the rate of loss.

I plan to take the bonus dose next week but I have my 5mg pen in the fridge ready to go after that. Although I've had suppression between meals, I haven't found that I'm getting fuller quicker when I do eat. I am hoping the 5mg will help with that. I've been lucky to really only have constipation as an ongoing SE so 🤞 5mg doesn't totally mess that up.

AlicesMum2025 · 23/05/2025 12:09

I keep meaning to take my measurements, and even dug out my tape measure, but I've been procrastinating because I don't want to know the numbers. Anyone else feel like that?

AlicesMum2025 · 23/05/2025 12:14

I have been measuring myself in kg because I don't have much concept of how heavy that is, whereas stones and pounds I know exactly. Mentally I think I'm protecting myself from the disgust for how much I currently weigh, what I did to myself. When I convert how much I need to lose into stones it's really overwhelming and psychologically I think can't deal with that.

Please tell me I'm not alone.

SaintAgatha · 23/05/2025 12:36

@lifetheuniverseandeverything42 I would expect there to be research on this going forward, given the anecdotal evidence. It’s certainly fascinating. Personally, I’ve found it’s moderated my moods. I’m far more balanced overall.

SaintAgatha · 23/05/2025 12:37

@AlicesMum2025 I totally get it. You do what you’ve got to do. The scales bring shame for me, so I avoid them!

Anonymousmember25 · 23/05/2025 12:54

This may well be too much info but is anyone having really bad smelly 💩? Mine were never these bad before but now they are horrific 🤣 actually making myself feel sick!!!

afaloren · 23/05/2025 13:00

3lb off! I was already losing weight so wasn’t expecting a huge loss my first week. Very happy with that! I weigh in kg too @AlicesMum2025 but then convert it for my apps which are in lb. I put my fingers in my ears when it comes to stones and go LALALA.

MyScaredCat · 23/05/2025 13:17

I’m W4D3 and think I might be experiencing my first SE 😳
I feel so nauseous today.
i have a heavy cold and feel generally unwell these past few days. But today I feel like I did when I was pregnant! I’ve forced down a protein yoghurt and a dark chocolate rice cake. Chocolate was a bad idea I think, it always made me sick when pregnant and I haven’t fancied it at all since I started MJ.
i have drank about 1 litre, which included 500ml with electrolytes.
powering on; but definitely feel rough.
TMI but no 💩 in a week. I was feeling smug as the daily inulin seemed to be working; but not this week

WhynotJanet · 23/05/2025 13:25

MorrowTreasure · 23/05/2025 10:13

Anyone on Wk3 and seen a difference from Wk2? I had a few side effects days 1-3 on Wk1 and since nothing, no suppression or side effects-like totally normal..? I know 2.5mg is a loading dose but I’m so impatient to get started! Lost 4lbs from the initial side effects and no more since. In a calorie deficit or at least close-tricky with no suppression and prioritising protein and clean eating. Can’t wait to move up a dose now!

I’m on W3D5 and have had a 6lb loss since I started. I’ve actually had more suppression this week so have been eating ok. Not as much weight loss though, lost 1lb and gained a lb. Restarted the gym today though so looking forward to the results, fingers crossed.

WhynotJanet · 23/05/2025 13:29

Apprenante · 23/05/2025 10:08

I've just taken my 4th dose of 2.5mg. I'd wasted the first dose (due to a failure to read the instructions properly!) so getting the 4th dose out of the pen was like getting the golden dose. It was a doddle - and I'd been so worried I didn't sleep properly last night .

It felt a bit jabbier getting it through the skin but not too bad.

Golden doses every time now for me!

Interested in how you got it out? Did you use an insulin syringe? Where did you buy them from if you did? How much in mls did you manage to get out/use?

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 23/05/2025 14:16

Does anyone want my vanilla whey protein powder from H&B? I've had two servings and I really don't like it - it would be great if it went to a good home.
I'm happy to send by Collect+ so you don't need to give your address, could collect parcel from a nearby shop that does Collect+.

Littledidsheknow · 23/05/2025 15:12

Just injected my first dose! Amazed that it was literally painless, but concerned that a little medicine was left on my thigh afterwards… hope I got the full dose!

So, I’m

SW 15st 8

Looking forward to seeing that go down!

Apprenante · 23/05/2025 15:28

@WhynotJanet I bought the syringes from a company called Medbasic. 10 for £6.97 including P and P.
The needles are already on the syringes so no fiddling about there. It was so easy!

dc82 · 23/05/2025 15:28

@Littledidsheknow well done. It’s a bit daunting the first time. Hope you have little to no SE and a great first week. There can be a little drop left on the syringe or your leg and I think that’s ok. You’ll have got what’s needed.

I don’t know what I did today (I think it’s because I did left leg with right hand) but I’ve bruised the heck out of myself 😆. I didn’t do that last week. I swear I sat still like a good patient as well 🙄
