I got 6mls out - well 7 but I used a ml to prime . I think I could have got 9 or 10 out but I wasn't bothered about increasing my dose yet

Littledidsheknow · 23/05/2025 15:47

Thanks @dc82 that’s reassuring!

Kipperandarthur · 23/05/2025 16:22

I saw the pharmacist today for my next pen and agreed to go up to the 5mg pen. But am going to get that final dose out of my first pen next week with the medical needles I bought.

Was delighted when he weighed me that I've actually lost 5kg (11lbs) in the first 3 weeks. My home scales are wrong!

Have also increased my exercise classes at the gym to 4 a week as well so hopefully all on the right path forward.

My own reflection over the past 3 weeks is that I would never have lost 11lbs in 3 weeks without this assistance. I haven't found it hard at all. My body is craving clean wholesome food - mainly salads and protein (tuna, salmon, chicken, eggs) for dinner, light lunch of ham and ryvita with some olives and tomatoes and greek yoghurt and berries at breakfast. Haven't snacked at all.

I've gone completely off red meat and fatty foods. Dark chocolate (the diabetic one is good) is fine for 2 squares as a treat each weekend night. I also tried dates with a bit of peanut butter as a treat and it's yummy. A few glasses of wine each weekend night as well instead of a bottle each night of the weekend. I'm massively into sparkling water.

Overall I feel much better. But as others have noted the constipation varies and I'm sure I could shift at least 5lbs with a good evacuation. Prunes do help but I sometimes have to resort to Movicol or similar. But on balance I would prefer to be bunged up rather that cope with the opposite which some others are sadly experiencing.

I'm off to a family birthday BBQ tomorrow and not worried at all about managing expectations of eating and drinking as I will just pick the fish or chicken options with salads and enjoy a couple of glasses of wine and my new favourite ice cold sparkling water with ice. My contribution is the birthday cake and a large fruit platter so I know I have pudding covered as well.

I've already eaten out twice with friends in the past three weeks and it was easy to make sensible choices, albeit with perhaps a bit too much wine thrown in!

I hope everybody has a good Bank Holiday weekend and can enjoy whatever they are doing knowing that we've started on this journey and it's all doable going forward.

I keep meaning to take my measurements, and even dug out my tape measure, but I've been procrastinating because I don't want to know the numbers. Anyone else feel like that?

I just did today. Shocking -in a shameful way. I used to have a real hourglass figure with ten inches difference between my hips/boobs and my waist. Currently three inches difference!! I’ve also measured my arms/thighs/calves plus the roll of flab beneath my bra. The measurements are hidden away along with my weight!

Other than that I’m having a good day. I still don’t have any side effects or particular feelings of suppression, although I keep going past meal times and not feeling hungry for a couple of hours, but then feeling ravenous. But I have just cooked traybakes for my cafe and was drooling (as normal) over the chocolate that decorates them.

Voy have finally fixed the issue and I can get back on the app/website. They said it was fine on their side and must be because my phone is old, but whatever they did I can use it and it’s working fine on my phone, like it did last week, so I don’t buy that it’s my phone. They have given me 20% off my next month, so I will probably stay with them for the next month as well.
But suppression or not, I’m really enjoying the healthy foods I’m eating, which is a bonus.🙂

@DidILeaveTheGasOn is it the optimum nutrition one? It is in my basket….
is it too sweet? Too grainy?

I’ve just started - I decided Friday is a good day for me; these threads have been really helpful. I’m around 33 bmi and hoping for health improvements as I go - I’m very aware I need to keep my protein up especially as a vegetarian.

Have you got any good recipes to keep the protein up? I'm not exactly a vegetarian. But I hardly ever really eat meat. And this is one of my big concerns. I've been taking protein shakes and supplements. But to the point it's making me gag now. Decided to take a break today and just try eat what ever I could.

(Been struggling to eat anything at all without feeling very unwell)

Apologies, forgot to mention I'm also incredibly difficult. I cannot touch fish or eggs 🙈🤦🏻‍♀️

Hello, I’m new here, I had my first jab last night. I have felt fine this morning, but felt cold all afternoon, flu like. Not sure if it’s Mounjaro or if one of my children has passed on a virus (one has been ill all week …) So far I’m still hungry so the food noise has not stopped yet, unfortunately. I know I need to be patient and see how this goes. I’m just so terrified I’ll be the one and only person that Mounjaro does not work for. I really want to lose weight and have thought so long about taking this … I really can’t wait not to feel hungry anymore, I really hope that day will come soon!

Elle771 · 23/05/2025 17:35

Pic loading these are lovely for extra protein

Hi, I had my first jab yesterday evening and feel very similar. Cold and a bit meh. Guess it’s part of the SE and not sure about the food noise .. limited enthusiasm for making the family dinner 😜 and normally on a Friday BH weekend I’d have a glass of wine to ease me in and definitely not feeling that tonight!

It may well be that you have picked up something from one of your DC.
Although I do feel colder than normal on these injections, but not flu like.

Trust in the process. It's only been a day! It doesn't switch off your entire desire to eat but helps you to eat smaller portions and make better food choices. I still get hungry but I don't snack between meals and I feel full after I've eaten.

You don't want it to suppress your appetite to not want to eat at all as that's just not normal or healthy going forward. You want it to help you eat at meal times smaller quantities than before and feel full for longer and stop snacking in between. Good luck.

After lots of overthinking, I just did my first injection! Exciting to be joining the May club with you all.

How do people find living without food noise?

cherrybobbins · 23/05/2025 19:09

1st week check in and I’ve lost 5 1/2lb. Just done 2nd jag. Hoping not to have horrendous stomach pains this time like last week. I had no appetite all week until last night when I felt really hungry and today I’ve been more hungry.

Mounraine · 23/05/2025 19:23

How do people find living without food noise? Well, instead of eating tea sat on the sofa in front of the telly, I've just covered all of the furniture in the middle of the room and sanded the woodwork down for repainting the living room.

W4D1 and no side effects. Only eaten one meal as I skipped breakfast and dinner filled me up. Feeling much more positive as I finally spoke to a GP who was happy to discuss MJ. It was no big deal, and she said it was irrelevant to my current symptoms. (She also took two minutes to listen to the history and prescribed something that worked the last time I had an attack and that she couldn't understand hadn't been suggested by any of the previous clinicians).

I really like the first two days with suppressed appetite.

lissie123 · 23/05/2025 19:44

Am I the only one who is now struggling with their social life? I’ve side stepped a pub lunch this weekend and suggested a coffee instead- I just can’t face having to order food and then struggle to eat it plus the thought of alcohol isn’t appealing anymore and my friends won’t know why I’m not drinking.

AccidentalPrawnYouFool · 23/05/2025 19:47

There wasn’t much in the fridge for lunch so I nicked one of the husbands ready made HUEL milkshakes. It was the iced latte flavour and it was absolutely disgusting - the worst. Never again!

Mounraine · 23/05/2025 19:48

@lissie123 I found this when I started Intermittent Fasting. I don't even drink coffee and sitting in a cafe with a glass of water just isn't that attractive. I am struck by how much my family's social life revolves around food or my colleagues' social lives revolve around alcohol. Sharing food and drink are so central to our relationships that going on a weight loss plan of any kind takes some negotiating.

SaintAgatha · 23/05/2025 19:54

I’m tempted to take my Wk4 jab a day early, has anyone else done this? Food noise has crept up towards the end of this week, which I’ve attributed to tiredness and constipation, just wondering if the jab might give me a reset?

Phat2fin · 23/05/2025 20:13

Took my 4th jab today. I’ve lost 5.7kg (12.5lb) to date, first week I lost 3.7kg, and the past two I’ve lost 1kg per week. It doesn’t feel like much but slow and steady.

I’ve got a 5mg pen ready in the fridge for next week but undecided yet whether to take the 5mg or do 45 clicks for 3.75mg and get 5 doses out the pen or get some needles to get the remaining 2.5mg out my current pen - don’t want to waste it but equally I feel keen to move up a dose as 2.5mg doesn’t feel like it has much effect. Then again it’s not really waste is it as it’s not intended to be used.

I'm taking my 3rd jab tomorrow instead of Sunday. This is mostly to do with planning ahead so when I switch to 5mg I will have a few days to deal with any SE.

Seahorsesplendour · 23/05/2025 20:28

@LittleNoosh same here!! Wk 1&2 I felt amazing really minimal food noise very little hunger and very happy - injected yesterdsy & today I just feel flat & hungry with food noise !! Really disappointed & hoping it kicks in at some point otherwise it’s going to be a long 2 weeks!!!!

BerfyTigot · 23/05/2025 20:34

Just an update.

I'm week 2 day 3.
First week I had 5 days of terrible diarrhoea and 1 of vomiting 🤢 and wasn't sure about taking 2nd dose.

After advice on here I took half dose (1.25mg), injected into thigh and delayed dose to fit my schedule better if I did have side effects.

Pleased to report that I have had NO side effects this week, and as it's day 3 I think they would have started by now.

But I'm not having great suppression. I'm actually quite hungry tonight.

Im thinking of taking the rest of the dose tonight. Has anyone split their weekly dose like this?
