I saw the pharmacist today for my next pen and agreed to go up to the 5mg pen. But am going to get that final dose out of my first pen next week with the medical needles I bought.
Was delighted when he weighed me that I've actually lost 5kg (11lbs) in the first 3 weeks. My home scales are wrong!
Have also increased my exercise classes at the gym to 4 a week as well so hopefully all on the right path forward.
My own reflection over the past 3 weeks is that I would never have lost 11lbs in 3 weeks without this assistance. I haven't found it hard at all. My body is craving clean wholesome food - mainly salads and protein (tuna, salmon, chicken, eggs) for dinner, light lunch of ham and ryvita with some olives and tomatoes and greek yoghurt and berries at breakfast. Haven't snacked at all.
I've gone completely off red meat and fatty foods. Dark chocolate (the diabetic one is good) is fine for 2 squares as a treat each weekend night. I also tried dates with a bit of peanut butter as a treat and it's yummy. A few glasses of wine each weekend night as well instead of a bottle each night of the weekend. I'm massively into sparkling water.
Overall I feel much better. But as others have noted the constipation varies and I'm sure I could shift at least 5lbs with a good evacuation. Prunes do help but I sometimes have to resort to Movicol or similar. But on balance I would prefer to be bunged up rather that cope with the opposite which some others are sadly experiencing.
I'm off to a family birthday BBQ tomorrow and not worried at all about managing expectations of eating and drinking as I will just pick the fish or chicken options with salads and enjoy a couple of glasses of wine and my new favourite ice cold sparkling water with ice. My contribution is the birthday cake and a large fruit platter so I know I have pudding covered as well.
I've already eaten out twice with friends in the past three weeks and it was easy to make sensible choices, albeit with perhaps a bit too much wine thrown in!
I hope everybody has a good Bank Holiday weekend and can enjoy whatever they are doing knowing that we've started on this journey and it's all doable going forward.
