Had my first jab this morning. Not at all sure what to expect, but also, I have no idea about what food I will be having, how I’m changing what I eat. I’m with She-Med and they don’t seem to provide any dietary advice. I have signed up to Boots for coaching but waiting to be accepted.

Kipperandarthur · 22/05/2025 11:53

@Fedupoftheshits
Good luck. It's great that your DH is having such great results and this must give you a really positive approach to it all.

I inject in the morning and thankfully so far don't suffer with it, apart from generally having some constipation and burps. Burps I accept are just part of the process and constipation needs to be helped as and when. I sure am eating a lot of prunes.

The one noticeable thing that I don't want is sugary food and my cravings for it have drastically reduced so hopefully you will feel the same.

Try looking into 85% chocolate and enjoying just two squares as a weekend treat. I also read somebody slitting a date and inserting a little bit of peanut butter and then rolling in sesame seeds and now views that as a treat Ferrero Rocher! Might try that myself.

planesick · 22/05/2025 12:25

I have just taken my 2nd injection. I have lost 5.8lbs this week. That 0.8 is very important 😄
I haven't had any cravings in the evenings which is great. I have had some difficulty feeling like I want to eat, but as the week wore on, that faded.
I haven't told anyone except this thread. I am not ashamed, but I don't want to have to defend myself to anyone... I don't have the energy for it.
Well done everyone for continuing on your journeys, you are all doing so well

Stephenkingsbiggestfan · 22/05/2025 12:27

Here I am with my end of week 3 update.

SW 13st 6lb
W1 12st 13lbs
W2 12st 12lbs
W3 12st 10lbs

I ordered a 5.0 pen but think I will stick to 2.5 does for a while longer as I am getting good results with no side effects!

I’m not doing a particular diet. I’m just cutting out processed foods and sugars, and trying to eat veg, fruit, protein, dairy and healthy carbs (brown rice, bread and pasta), I’m veggie so do beans and lentils instead. If I ate meat I’d be having lean meat and less oily fish. The MJ seems to make it easier to eat smaller portions, which is good. I’ve swapped lattes for fruit teas too and I’m drinking lots of water. I seem to be eating a lot of grapes!

SaintAgatha · 22/05/2025 13:16

@FurryAnimal I used an online TDEE calculator to work out what I should stick to if I wanted to lose weight.

When I was feeling glum last night, it was compounded by I suppose... an inability to self-soothe (sounds daft but hey ho) because my ways of cheering myself up have usually been:

Drinking: Ugh, no thanks
Online shopping: Not interested
Eating: No room at the inn

And what should I have done?

Use my support network - did eventually, but should have said something earlier, my DP is very supportive but didn't want to bother him (ugh why!)
Go for a walk - too bleedin' knackered
Watch something comforting - see above
Remember that it is temporary

Feel like I'm having to relearn so many things.

I haven't caught up with the whole thread but I just wanted to say how useful/funny/heartwarming your posts are to read. Being so open about where you're struggling is the whole point of threads like these ❤️

I'm sure this won't suit everyone, but when I'm glum of an evening with no wine to dull that edge, partner to offload on, or energy to do much else, I do an online jigsaw (don't laugh). They are an excellent way to get out of my own head. Loads are free, and you can upload your own pics to make into puzzles. Last night, I made one of a Tottenham player which surely is the only reason they won their first trophy since 2008 😂 I manifested it into being through the power of Mounjaro!

the MyFitnessPal weight graph is starting to look like a very steep cliff face. I am over the moon with the impact of Mounjaro. I have no SEs really and massive appetite suppression. It appears to have changed my tastes from very unhealthy to healthy. I have decided to make absolutely sure that I enjoy every meal. Breakfast was cantaloupe with pomegranate seeds and Greek yogurt with flax seeds. Lunch a beetroot rice cake with cream cheese and smoked salmon. For dinner i will choose a veg recipe from the Ottolenghi flavour book and a sea bass fillet. I think maybe the aubergine dumplings alla parmigiana. I am off work at the minute so plenty of time to browse recipes and shop for ingredients. I will try and follow the recipes exactly instead of cutting corners and replacing things like i used to do.

when I started I was skipping lunch but that felt like a sacrifice. So instead I will have something small healthy and fulfilling.

Can I join? Been huge since my 20s and have limited mobility due to a disability that has kept the weight on, though steady. I've ordered and been accepted and my first pen arrives tomorrow. I am so anxious and worried (terrible health anxiety) but nothing has ever worked. Reassurance that I won't get sick and or/die would be really appreciated.

@threeeggsontoast the brick feeling, yes that's the best way to describe it. Didn't think about it till I read this. I feel exactly this after a McDonald's this morning. It's horrible. Totally agree with the boredom thing too

Think I have ignored my body for so long, I don't know what these feelings are!

SussexLass87 · 22/05/2025 14:06

I absolutely hear what people are saying about trying to keep it slow and steady...my heart would love some 7lb a week losses but my head us telling me the 2lb a week is realistic and I need to be happy with that.

2lb a week is 2lb more than I was losing before 😄

I've decided to take up sewing, drawing, colouring of an evening...DH is away a lot, we have young kids who aren't easy to leave for an evening and I need something to do to deal with that twitchy feeling! 🙂 Any recommendations?!

Totally gone off Vinted shopping which was my secund favourite habit after scoffing chocolate 🍫 😉

I got myself a knitting machine and can knit a jumper in a day. Very satisfying.

Poor old Vinted! All the mounjaro ladies are going to cause a dip in profits 😉😉

Ooh knitting!

I got an LK 150 knitting machine of Amazon in January it was around 200. It’s great. Seems to have gone up to over 500 though

Nah, we can sell our stuff when we shrink out of it and buy more 🤣 maybe we need to share our vinted names and help each other out!

About 24hrs in and think I've had more food noise and felt more hungry today than I have in ages! I am cold though, and that isn't usual for me, and I do feel a bit different, but I can't put my finger on what it is!

I did inject into my thigh as a first timer, hoping to avoid too many side effects, so am assuming it's taking a while to fully build up. If it remains this mild an effect (and I know it can take until day 3 to show its full colours) then I will try my stomach nxt week.

Congrats to all on NSVs and results on the scales. Loving the things people are doing, especially @LessWeightKate 's tottenham based puzzling. You do know you're going to have to do a tottenham puzzle every time they play now, don't you?! 😆

notgonnafail · 22/05/2025 14:39

@BoredZelda Had my first yesterday afternoon. Hope you're having a good start so far.

Mounraine · 22/05/2025 17:02

@Fernicus74 the needles and wipes should come with your pens. I didn't get sent a sharps box, but I believe some pharmacies do provide them.

@Fedupoftheshits I've taken my jab just now (third one of the month I think). I still feel hunger but I no longer find myself craving junk or sugar, or comfort eating. I hope that the jab works out for you.

Welcome to @SaunteringDownwards and anyone who has said hello and joined us :)

Hi everyone, I'm new here, starting MJ this Saturday, can't wait, hope all goes well for me, hearing some great stories here, hope to post some good ones myself soon 😁. Just drawing up an eating plan, can I ask how many calories you aim to stick to per day please?

I use an app which I put all my details in and it suggests 1400 per day - I normally end up in about 1200

Is this why I have loads of stuff not selling in Vinted? 🤣

hottubsundays · 22/05/2025 17:26

I’m on W2 D4 and I had 2 poached eggs and 2 slices of toast this morning. Then had a long appt at the beauty therapist which went over lunchtime - normally the thought of that would have given me anxiety! But I took a protein drink in my bag and had it at 2:20 I wasn’t even hungry! I’m going to yoga tonight but I’m not hungry and have to cook everyone dinner before I go!

Cucumberinginplease · 22/05/2025 17:36

Hello all!
W1 D6
So, coming to the end of week 1, I've definately felt more hungry the last 2 days but still eating healthily. I think about the junk food as an option when deciding what to eat, then discount it without needing to use the mammoth amounts of will power before MJ. It's nice!

Portion sizes remain small, although bigger than the weekend when I was forcing down a child's size portion, so that's nice!

Welcome to everyone new!

Wish me luck on the scales tomorrow morning!

SignedUpAgain · 22/05/2025 17:55

Week 4 day 1
Weigh in day.
Total weight lost in 3 weeks is 4.8kg
10.5 lbs. Wow

It's fairly slow after the first week. Nothing like the big losses some people are having. And I have A LOT to lose, so was kind of expecting something bigger the first few weeks after reading some of the posts.

Actually now I think about it. That's nearly 5 kg less that I'm having to carry about. Hallelujah

I'm very heavy, probably a lot heavier than I look. So I'll also be impressed if I'm losing inches. Might do some measurements later.
