@Weightlossprincess you’re not doing anything wrong. Isn’t that an average of almost 2lb loss a week?

Dutchhouse14 · 21/05/2025 17:20

That's encouraging, thank you!
I'm 24hours in and feel no different, when did you start to feel the benefits? I'm still hungry and thinking about food, but no adverse side effects either, just no change

Edited

The next morning after I started, I really felt I just couldn't face the thought of food. The effects are stronger in the days after injection, and do lessen. My biggest problem is snacking (& vodka) in the evenings & I have definitely cut that out quite significantly. That in itself has got to be a big positive!

Elle09 · 22/05/2025 08:31

W2D4 here and I’ve woken up absolutely starving. I’ve had a coffee and banana but that hasn’t touched the sides! Trying not to raid the cupboards as I’m working at home today 🙈

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 22/05/2025 09:13

Good morning!

WK2D5

Had a bit of a mental slump yesterday. Felt a bit overwhelmed with signing up for the gym and being on MJ, the main concern being tiredness. However, it occurred to me this morning that whilst some of the fatigue will be MJ, some of it is having a BMI of 39, you know? My body is having work harder than it should all the time, no wonder I'm tired. I remember before this, when I was in good shape from exercising every day, that I'd finish work and go to the supermarket, then put a wash on, do some tidying and hoovering. That honestly baffles me now.
But really, the 'me' I'm trying to get back to isn't that far away. Well, 94lbs away, but it is possible.

Feeling a bit brighter today. My son had a haircut last night and it's always hedgehog-y at the back when it's freshly cut, so we do this thing where he'll come to find me and go,

'Mum! Hedgehog!' and then I can feel the spikes and say, 'ooh, very spiky'.

But today I said to him, 'you know, at some point you'll be too cool to want to do hedgehog anymore, when you're a teenager' and he straight away said, 'I'll never be too cool for hedgehog' ❤

In other news, I need to do a supermarket shop today - any recommendations of things to try to get protein in, or any meals you've eaten lately that you want to recommend? I gave the whey protein powder another go yesterday and I'm not sure how I kept it down. Think I'll need to get protein in via food whilst keeping cals down?

Seahorsesplendour · 22/05/2025 09:16

@Elle09 oh no!! Good luck!! I did get hungry towards Jab day last week and had a big breakfast which really helped!! (Yoghurt protein powder fruit oats etc !) Might be worth just eating now & hoping you stay full for longer!!

SilkCottonTree · 22/05/2025 09:18

Jab 3 day for me today. I was a bit more hungry than I have been yesterday, but still didn't reach for junk food. Actually, I did have some of DS' leftover easter chocolate yesterday but still stayed within my 1300 calorie limit for the day.

I've lost another kilo this week and have asked my provider to stay on 2.5mg next month as I am not interested in rapid weight loss and 2.5mg is giving me enough suppression of the food noise not to snack (which was my biggest down fall), and allowing me to still eat at meal times, but to not over eat. Also still no side effects of note apart from good ones :)

We looked at this at my weight-loss group this week. We talked about adding a main of protein to every meal. So if you normally have salad or a sandwich for dinner, add a portion of salmon or tuna. If you have pasta for tea, add a portion of chicken etc.
The other strategy was to add little protein boosters to your meal, e.g. a sprinkle of 30g of pumpkin seeds on your salad is 9g of protein.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 22/05/2025 09:27

Ooh @Mounraine that's really useful, thank you :)

Mounraine · 22/05/2025 09:31

8 weeks since I first took MJ, 3 weeks since I restarted on the 1 May. I've lost about 2lb this week, bringing the total since the beginning of April to 11lb. A week's holiday basically stalled me for a week but that's ok. At least it didn't lead to a stubborn gain of a few pounds.

Fernicus74 · 22/05/2025 09:35

W1D3

Unsure if I am having any SE but did have to get up in the night for a 💩!

I haven’t been well this week either - some type of flu/cold bug so not sure if this has curbed me wanting to have any alcohol - none since Sunday which is good irrespective of why - but hoping it is the MJ that is now knocking the craving back for wine and gin and not just due to being ill.

Made a whey vanilla protein shake with banana; almond milk and some husks for breakfast. I always struggle to eat breakfast. Went down ok. Not really craving much.

Away for a night over BH weekend. Hubster is also on MJ so we can make good choices together whilst sat in the hotel bar…..

SaintAgatha · 22/05/2025 09:45

I’ve increased my protein but after having almost three full weeks without SE I’m now horribly constipated. I think once I’ve worked that out, I’ll feel better.

I’m not weighing weekly, so no idea where I’m at yet, but my clothes already feel looser around my tummy. Am staying on 2.5mg as have had such good progress with it.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 22/05/2025 09:49

On the alcohol front - haven't had a drink since Saturday and the idea of one turns my stomach. WTF. From 100 units a week to... potentially... 0? It helps that when I drank wine on the weekend, I was sipping it because I knew I wanted to limit it to two small glasses, and honestly, I didn't like it that much. I'm normally a sauvignon blanc person but it was really acidic and gave me heartburn almost instantly.
This is nuts.

Fernicus74 · 22/05/2025 09:55

@DidILeaveTheGasOn This is what I am hoping for too! Alongside better food choices

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 22/05/2025 10:00

When I was feeling glum last night, it was compounded by I suppose... an inability to self-soothe (sounds daft but hey ho) because my ways of cheering myself up have usually been:

Drinking: Ugh, no thanks
Online shopping: Not interested
Eating: No room at the inn

And what should I have done?

Use my support network - did eventually, but should have said something earlier, my DP is very supportive but didn't want to bother him (ugh why!)
Go for a walk - too bleedin' knackered
Watch something comforting - see above
Remember that it is temporary

Feel like I'm having to relearn so many things.

Goodluckeveryone · 22/05/2025 10:02

Hi all 👋 I’m currently on W3 D4 and just wanted to share what my experience has been so far. The first week I lost a whopping 7lbs (couldn’t believe it) the 2nd week I lost 1.5lbs. On the 2nd week I went a bit off the rails at a family bbq and drank more alcohol than I should have and definitely drank less water so I didn’t do myself any favours but still continued walking around 9k steps a day. I also jabbed in my arm W2 rather than my tummy as I read you’re supposed to change injection site.
Took my 3rd jab on Monday night (in my tummy again)and I’ve drank at least 2.5-3l of water each day and continued on a calorie deficit and walking and stood on the scales 3lbs off already from Monday.
I totally believe water is the key to success along with staying as active as possible and eating well.
Feel I’m never off the toilet though with all this water going down me 😂

Well done everyone. It's interesting seeing the stats of you all.
I'm Wk 3 and the total overall loss is 6lb. Only 1.5lb this week but a loss nevertheless.

Sometimes on these boards seeing high weight loss for others in a week I get a bit deflated. However, I then remind myself that actually I don't want a suppression that makes me not want to eat.

I love food and wine (that's what got me here in the first place.) If I can achieve a steady and continuing loss of anywhere between 1.5 and 2lbs a week that's fine as it is allowing me to eat sensibly and I am not actually tracking but just being mindful with no snacking and a significant reduction in wine.

For me it's about the overall journey to get the weight off and in developing new and achievable habits that stay with me going forward, even if it does mean staying in a maintenance dose for quite a period of time/years. I know that a high level of suppression and not really eating is not the way forward for me as it won't be sustainable long term.

Slow, steady and downwards is my motto.

FurryAnimal · 22/05/2025 10:28

Hi everyone, I'm new here, starting MJ this Saturday, can't wait, hope all goes well for me, hearing some great stories here, hope to post some good ones myself soon 😁. Just drawing up an eating plan, can I ask how many calories you aim to stick to per day please?

Catty123Ma · 22/05/2025 10:29

Hi All! A bit deflated.. was due to start today but one of my small germ spreaders has woken up with a bug 🦠 joy! Iv been feeling cold/headaches this week… like I'm already started.. I thought it was some kind of weird way my body was getting me ready but perhaps Iv picked up the latest virus. I’m thinking of holding until next week, as it likely isn’t ideal to possibly have a bug plus manage any SE’s. Anyone else just about ready to start/pushing to next week?

26dX · 22/05/2025 10:36

@FurryAnimal I used a TDEE on Google to work out what I ‘should’ be eating but can’t get close some days!

I totally agree with this - slow and steady means sustainable. It's usually rapid weight loss that can't be sustained, and causes hair loss, gallstones and other nasty side effects. I feel like if I am financially investing in MJ why wouldn't I take my time and lose weight slowly and permanently!

I also don't want suppression to the point of no appetite as what would then happen once the injections stop? I am happy that so far the 2.5mg is allowing me to eat 3 small but nutritious meals a day with no snacking and stick to my calorie limit of 1300 cal without going above or below that.

Fernicus74 · 22/05/2025 10:39

Needles:

Do they automatically come with the order or will I have to source them?

I ordered through Asda.

Wholeheartedly agree. I still want to eat the three realistic/healthy meals a day as that's what I want in my life going forward.

When I look at the thread for the 7 or 10 stone losers that is what they are doing and is what is achievable for them.

I need to set a pattern in motion that becomes ingrained for the future.

I would have a problem with say no breakfast, a banana for lunch and a miserable cottage cheese salad for dinner. I might lose the weight but it's just too unrealistic going forward.

Goodluckeveryone · 22/05/2025 10:55

@Kipperandarthur Im sorry if my post left you feeling deflated that’s not what I want to do when I’m sharing my own experience.
I’m feeling anxious about the weight loss as like you said slow and steady is a much better way to sustain my weight once I come off MJ.
Everyone’s body reacts differently I guess but just wanted to say a huge well done for what you have achieved so far 💜

I'm pleased for everyone honestly!
Well done you as well.

Hi all,

I’m starting Mounjaro for the first time this evening and I’m quite nervous, especially for the side effects which seem to vary a lot.

im hoping that with injecting in the evening it might help?

DH is on it and so far has lost 2 and a half stone since he started in March.

I’ve got a very unhealthy relationship with food and constantly crave sugary food so am hoping this helps with that urge to eat.
