Late April starters - thread 3

We’ve filled another thread already, with fantastic support as most of us reach week 3 or 4 and think about pen 2! Thread 3 now as we enjoy the unexpected early summer and move into our second month of Mounjaro, lighter in both scales and mood.

Very small loss this week, just 1lb making a total of 9.5lbs in 3 weeks.

Fourth jab last night in my tummy and have ordered my next 2.5mg pen.

Bit disappointed my losses seem to have slowed down quite dramatically but this always seems to happen when I reach this point losing weight.

Also the thigh injection site while great for minimising side effects doesn't seem to be as effective with suppression. It will be interesting to see how this week goes.

Coffeeandallthebooks · 17/05/2025 08:49

Morning everyone, well done on your losses and NSV's!
I tried thigh for this week's injection and for the first time did not throw up on day 2. Still felt a bit sickly but much better. Suppression is quite good but less than it was, I will see how it is by the end of the week!
@wlinewbie0425 I read that there are over 150 weight loss drugs based on GLP-1 in clinical trials just now, and the oral tablet in development is in Phase 3. I was hoping to stay on a maintenance dose of MJ if I reach goal, but by the time I do there might be other options, maybe even ones tailored for maintenance.

It would make such a difference if you could be treated for obesity with a WLI, then take a preventative pill. It could save you a lifetime of poor health.

Ricoletti · 17/05/2025 08:53

@wlinewbie0425 noooo im sorry to hear you also had a Caesar salad disaster. Pizza Hut was good, I ate 1.5 slices , it was a spicy veggie pizza and not much cheese at all. Went for light and crunchy at the salad bar, rather than creamy or stodgy. No tummy ache , phew.

Yes it’s meee, I dropped the Ms by accident when I was messing around with my account settings (I use this app on my phone) and deleted half my user name… then retyped it without the Ms and thought meh 🤷🏻‍♀️ so left it

There is a good new episode of Doctor who where a robot incel from the future rudely asks a woman ‘are you married?’ When she doesn’t like being called Miss… made me think of that and chuckle 🤣

@AbundanceofKatherines your holiday sounds fabulous and I’m so happy for you that you kept losing. I’m even more happy that you enjoyed yourself fully and ate what you fancied x

Crunchymum · 17/05/2025 09:03

wlinewbie0425 · 17/05/2025 08:47

Ah thanks for clarifying @Crunchymumive clearly picked that up wrong somewhere. It does make sense as the drugs hang around in our systems a long time.

I made the change myself very recently so I did research it. I think it could be circumvented though (which I wouldn't advise) as I changed suppliers as well ad medication and and whilst my new supplier asked for date of last Wegovy injection they didn't ask any other details. I could have easily lied about the date of last jab?

I didn't want to be having SE from Wegovy and MJ so I waited the correct amount of time.

Morning late April buddies - I’ve missed you all. I am back from my holiday (2 weeks glamping in France). I have tried to keep up with the threads but they certainly move quickly! Congrats to all on the losses and thank you all for the interesting and informative comments. This is such a great community.

My news is - I had a seriously amazing holiday! Interest in food and booze was minimal, so I was able to great each day with a clear head and a spring in my step. I love this new me! We went out to eat several times and I skipped starters & pudding, mainly chose fish and barely touched the carbs. One glass of wine was ample.

Interestingly, I never felt deprived - fully satisfied and content with the food. As a couple of people mentioned on the previous thread, the food actually seems to taste (and smell) so much better and eating is really enjoyable, but it seems you can have too much of a good thing. A couple of evenings we ate too late for me and I was quite uncomfortable with indigestion when trying to get to sleep, so I’ve learned to eat early and not drink too much water with dinner.

I took my 4th jab on Thursday morning and chose the stomach for the first time. I initially chose thighs because I thought there was less chance of rubbing on waistbands, bag straps, etc. Also, my stomach is so horrendously huge and embarrassing, I hate to look at it. I didn’t really like stomach and will probably go back to thigh.

I have had no side effects in the first 2 weeks and 6 days with good suppression and limited food noise. However, week 2 day 7 - week 3 day 2 I have had a bout of diarrhoea each morning after breakfast and I felt very nauseous yesterday afternoon. I’m inclined to think this is something I ate as it started before my 4th dose, when my levels (according to Shotsy) were very low. However, this has made me nervous about moving up to 5, which is annoying as I was looking forward to it.

Now for the weigh in news - a weight loss on holiday is not something I have ever achieved or contemplated! But….

SW 12st 11.5
CW 11st 9.4
GW 8st 10

Starting Waist 42”
Current waist 37”

I lost over half a stone on holiday!

I am ensuring I eat enough protein (which is hard), drinking lots of water. I took hand weights on holiday and did regular work outs. Walked 5 - 8 miles every day on holiday.

I appreciate that this level of loss is not sustainable and will drop off now, so will be aiming for 1.5 - 2lbs per week.

I am so thrilled with this medication!

Sorry to write so much, but you are the only people I can share this with - my DH is the only person I have told and he would not be interested in the nitty gritty.

x

What a lovely positive post and congrats on your half stone loss on holiday!! I usually come back from holiday at least half a stone heavier so this is so encouraging to think I might get away with not adding another 1/2 stone after our summer holiday.

I’ve just had notification that my next 5mg pen has been approved and is on its way. Although I haven’t decided whether to do 2.5 from it for another week or 2 yet.

Scousebloke · 17/05/2025 09:28

@AbundanceofKatherines
What a brilliant post holiday report

50lbstolose · 17/05/2025 09:29

Are we supposed to prime every time we use the pen?

Yes

StartingApril2025 · 17/05/2025 09:48

Shot 4 this morning and weigh in. Total lost over the 3 weeks is 12lbs, delighted with that, only have 4 lbs to go to be the same weight as my husband 😂 which is a first mini goal! I have 6 weeks until we go on holidays so I’m hoping I could have another 12 pounds off my then. Unlike alot of people here my clothes don’t really fit any better yet but hoping that in the next 6 weeks I can loose some more and my holiday clothes from last year will fit better!
well done to everyone on their losses this week.
I had first adverse reaction to something I ate last night so a helpful reminder not to eat anything greasy even if a Friday night 😂

Chunkysewist · 17/05/2025 10:03

@scousebloke well done on the loss! I'm off to check out that thread now. Tbh I'd already resigned myself to being in a some sort of MJ for the long term. I'm prepared to do what it takes yo keep the weight off...well until I'm too poor or too old to care! 😂

@AbundanceofKatherines thats amazing! Well done! Gives us all hope for our holidays!

Chunkysewist · 17/05/2025 10:06

@StartingApril2025 awesome loss! Well done!

BeachBodyAim · 17/05/2025 10:22

SW 17st 7lb
CW 16st 5.5lb

WK4 loss 2.5lb

weigh in day and WK5 injection - happy with 15.5lb loss in 4 weeks!!!
new pen today and I’m sticking with 2.5mg as I’ve got huge suppression still and no SE except the vivid dreams - anyone else still having these?!?! Last nights dream I was flouncing around in Charlie and the Chocolate factory dressed like a sexy hot babe - what the hell?!?!?! 😝🤣
Have a fab weekend everyone!!!!
We’ve got this 💪🏻

TeatimeForTheSoul · 17/05/2025 10:26

@Scousebloke congratulations on your loss
I believe most of the peer reviewed long term evidence is that people regain. BUT I am holding onto the hope that with lower weight and and feeling healthier greater lifestyle change will be possible. Plus maybe any returning oedema and inflammation may be less.
I’m guessing as we’re a growing section of society we will be seen as a new market for the big brands. We’ll be seeing ‘maintain weight-loss’ foods targeted at us soon.
I’ll plan to avoid the other thread for the next few weeks as I really want to stay motivated, but it’ll be interesting to read.

Ricoletti · 17/05/2025 10:58

@BeachBodyAim I’m cackling at your sexy babe Charlie and chocolate and the chocolate factory dream 🤣

I’ve defo been dreaming more and they have been quite vivid, even for me!

I’m a lucid dreamer and always have been (I always know I’m dreaming and have some level of control in my dreams, can decide what to do when dreaming and when to wake up or keep dreaming etc)

usually I’m aware I’m dreaming but can only ‘decide’ what happens sometimes and often things happen that I don’t actively ‘decide’…

interestingly I’ve found that on MJ I have almost full control and agency in most of my dreams now.

an example is last night I was in a dream about my gran and we were leaving the house, when my gran suddenly tripped and fell down some steps (I didn’t choose this to happen!) but then I said to my mam ‘it’s ok mam, this is a dream, she’s fine , there’s a blanket there ’ and decided that she had fell into a soft blanket so all was well. I then decided my gran was really steady on her feet (she isn’t?) And we could all walk to a park for an icecream and we just sort of arrived there and had a lovely time 🤷🏻‍♀️

a few nights ago I was dreaming and was bored of the mundane stuff I was doing (waiting in a queue at the post office 🤷🏻‍♀️) and decided I wanted to have a mad shopping spree so dreamed up a big shopping centre that I just magically arrived at , where I tried on loads of designer clothes and looked AMAZING in all of them .. I decided I was a size 8 (defo a dream lol) and it was so fun! I really wish the nice clothes I dreamed up were real!

I feel like a bizarre stage director in all my dreams now 🤣

sorry in advance for monologuing about my dreams, worse than someone making you look at 1000 identical holiday pictures and having to look interested 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Ricoletti · 17/05/2025 11:00

@Scousebloke thanks for pointing us to the thread about regain… I’m too scared to read it this early in my journey, but it’s something I’ve thought about a lot and I will check it out at some point for possible tips and pitfalls!

Ricoletti · 17/05/2025 11:01

Well done to all on the losses and other victories .

hope everyone has a lovely Saturday 🙂

toobusytoclean · 17/05/2025 12:18

@BeachBodyAim @Ricoletti definitely yes to the vivid dreams. I wish I had your control over the content though as some of mine have been nightmares that have come out of nowhere. Still I’m waking before my alarm and feeling energised so that’s a nice change from pre mj when I would easily want to stay in bed as long as possible

catchingzzzeds · 17/05/2025 12:33

Took my son clothes shopping yesterday and walked past so many beautiful clothes in the womenswear, I felt a flutter of excitement at looking forward to enjoying clothes shopping again 😊

Ricoletti · 17/05/2025 12:36

@catchingzzzeds yes !!!! This is so exiting isn’t it!!

I’m really looking forward to shopping for smaller clothes that I love.

I used to love clothes and shopping, but in recent years it has been more of a chore and about camouflage/ hiding myself .

Here’s to our futures of beautiful clothes that we feel great in 🥳

Ricoletti · 17/05/2025 12:37

@toobusytoclean I’m also waking up easier in the mornings which is so helpful! Usually I would lay in bed and snooze the alarm clock, struggle to wake properly.. now I wake up and my eyes ping open and I’m ready to get up. Who am I? 🤣

bridgetreilly · 17/05/2025 12:38

I am reminding myself that I don’t need to rush out and buy all the things! But am super-excited about the clothes that will be in my future. I don’t buy clothes to hide in now, but it is hard to find things that I really love.

bridgetreilly · 17/05/2025 12:42

I would not be surprised if, in 2 years time, MJ or an alternative will be available in long-term maintenance formats. They’re already talking about the possibility of pills which would be cheaper and easier.

Currently I take 9 pills a day. If I can cut that down to 1, I would absolutely sign up for life!

Ricoletti · 17/05/2025 12:47

@bridgetreilly me too but it’s hard right?!

im nearly a stone lighter and still fit all my ‘usual’ clothes which is a whole lot of black stretchy jeans, stripey tops and cardigans… my teenager reliably informs me I’m a classic ‘millennial mom’ 🤨
I’ve been stubbornly wearing clothes that are way too small for me for a while!

I’ve got a clothes in 4-5 different sizes in my wardrobe so plan to wear the smaller ones as I shrink… that’s the plan… but I did find myself browsing Vinted for summer clothes last night 🫣

Yes, I’m enjoying wearing clothes which didn’t fit last summer!
