We’ve filled another thread already, with fantastic support as most of us reach week 3 or 4 and think about pen 2! Thread 3 now as we enjoy the unexpected early summer and move into our second month of Mounjaro, lighter in both scales and mood.

What’s everyone’s thoughts on the site of injection. Weirdly for me the first week the doctor injected lower left and the first week suppression was wild, all food noise off etc, second week I injected elsewhere in my stomach but I have a lot of scar tissue and adhesions so really the bottom left is the only bit free. Week 2 mild suppression and I even thought I hadn’t done it. Did have my period though that week. Then last week I did lower left again and this week suppression high again like week 1. Now I know you are supposed to alternate sites but maybe lower left is only suitable place for me. Not sure where I will inject tomorrow now?! Arm, thigh?! Anyone else find difference in sites? I know it’s early to tell and so many variables but I just don’t know!

bridgetreilly · 16/05/2025 19:18

I think when they say not to do it in the same place, they mean the actual spot not the general area. It’s just so that you don’t keep putting a wound in exactly the same bit of skin.

PoisonIvy89 · 16/05/2025 19:23

Yikes, can't blink for a second here, a new thread already!

@Coventree I've lost and regained too. I promised the magical mounjaro liquid on my first dose that if it helped me lose weight this time I would definitely not gain it back this time! I really hope it starts to work for you at 5mg. It does make sense, I don't have the zero appetite and food aversion some seem to have, I could eat the bread or the crisps or the chocolate if I wanted to... but I don't want to. I'm eating three healthy meals a day and have no desire to snack on junk between meals. So it's not doing all the work for me, I'm still having to make the right choices and occasionally use a bit of willpower but gosh it is making it so much easier than all the previous weight loss attempts. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed for you that you get to experience it too. 5mg will be your dose for sure!

@MsRicoletti yes still working it all out, for me working late shifts usually means eating dinner after 10pm and previously that wasn't a problem at all but now I'm having to switch things around to eat earlier in the day, there's a lot to figure out and balance with this whole sudden lifestyle change.

@TeatimeForTheSoul aww sending you a hug, you've got this! I hope the exams are going well for your dc, high school is a rough time for so many, I don't know your kid but I am proud of them too for the managing tricky questions and also for surviving high school, almost finished!

@Lidlbitofmonica quinoa and bean salad for me too this week, so yum!

well done @Crunchymum @Cravingpotatoes @Sunshineandpool @Vixs13 @violetmondays @Lidlbitofmonica @bridgetreilly @Hawkmoth @50lbstolose @ellieinfrance @IttttttssssME
so many great losses!!!

PoisonIvy89 · 16/05/2025 19:26

weigh in day and was very pleased with my 4.9lbs loss 😁
I admit I did try twice to squeeze out a little more pee to try to hit 5 😂
If I add on the 5lbs I lost in the two weeks before the first jab then I'm a stone down but I'm only counting mounjaro losses here.
I once read a tip that you should track your weight in lbs and kgs and stones and that way you get more milestones and mini goals to celebrate which I like the sound of, just gotta remember not to reward myself with food!

week 1 -4.5 lbs
week 2 -4.9 lbs
total loss so far -9.4 lbs

I was thinking of trying thigh today but seeing other people report it's less effective there I'll stick with stomach as it's working well

Crunchymum · 16/05/2025 19:34

Checking in for the new thread!!

Well something very weird just happened. I took my last 2.5mg pen and there were 17 clicks left in it after? Does this mean I've done one of my doses wrong?

I'm pretty sure I've done everything correctly, I always made sure the pen was fully at 1 and pushed plunger down until reaches zero.

Where did these extra 17 clicks come from (and yes medication did come out of the syringe... stupidly into the sink and not my body!!)

Have I messed up somewhere?

PoisonIvy89 · 16/05/2025 19:38

you probably didn't mess up and you just got a lucky non locking pen

Coventree · 16/05/2025 19:52

Well done @PoisonIvy89! Great losses 👏 shame that extra bit of wee couldn’t come out 🤣. And yes! That’s exactly how I want it to work for me 🤞for 5mg 😊

Wow @Hawkmoth in awe of your success 🤩

@Crunchymum hmmm, I wonder if they add a few extra than needed for priming and it’s those?

Hope the pizza goes down a bit better! @ricoletti

And huge well dones to everyone else ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Crunchymum · 16/05/2025 20:00

@Coventree

I don't remember priming anything so I think you're right (well I hope you are 😂)

Thank you.

And well done on your loss. Extra kudos for your pre MJ loss.

@Coventree

I don't remember priming anything so I think you're right (well I hope you are 😂)

that'll be it then. why are you not doing the 2 clicks to prime before every dose? that is kind of important! you need to make sure the needle and pen are working before you do your injection

Crunchymum · 16/05/2025 20:04

OMG. No I've never primed it.

Shit, 4 jabs I've done as well 😪

Crunchymum · 16/05/2025 20:08

I've just read through the instructions. I'm such a complete idiot.

In my defence Wegovy didn't need you to prime (or did it? Who knows at this point)

I also inject DC3 daily with a medication and I have another weekly medication I also inject myself so I obviously didn't think I needed to play close attention to the instructions.

I'm so embarrassed 😳

Late April starters - thread 3
PoisonIvy89 · 16/05/2025 20:09

@Crunchymum omg you are giving me anxiety! 😂
I'm going to go breathe in to a paper bag while chanting air bubbles will not kill her on subcutaneous jabs

Read your instruction leaflet please before your next dose!!!!!

edit to add I'm glad you've read it now, I can sleep tonight 😜

Crunchymum · 16/05/2025 20:12

I've just read the instructions! Not sure what an Earth was going through my mind... and I've done 4 jabs this way!!

Hopefully no harm done and I'm pretty sure each dose was actually administered etc. But gosh I'm really, really embarrassed.

I also promise that I'm incredibly careful with my DC3's meds (I've been injecting her everyday for 7 years now and you only have to prime a new cartridge which is once every 15 days but I do actually know about priming!)

Think I was just incredibly complacent given I'm so used to administering injections.

Coventree · 16/05/2025 20:13

🤣 that’s made me laugh…but yeah…prime it!

PoisonIvy89 · 16/05/2025 20:16

well at least you know now. it probably won't have made any difference. air bubbles are not serious on subcutaneous jabs, but sometimes the needle can be blocked or not attached properly or the pen not working as it should, the priming is to make sure all is ok before you try to inject in in to yourself. this is expensive medication, you don't want to waste a dose

PoisonIvy89 · 16/05/2025 20:32

@Crunchymum just saw your added bit, we are always so much more careful with our children than we are with ourselves so I have no doubt you do theirs properly 😘

Brunocatmon · 16/05/2025 20:37

Just checking in to keep the new thread x

Ricoletti · 16/05/2025 21:16

Looool @Crunchymum lm howling over here at your ‘Oh shit’ realisation .

I kind of love that you regularly inject your kiddo (and I bet you do so with absolute proficiency and rigorous attention to safety and detail) but were just all ‘wahey , it’s fine stick it in!’ About your MJ 🤣🤣🤣

Seriously though, glad you are fine. I’m pretty sure air bubbles are only a thing when injected into the bloodstream right?

That is good to know! One of the things I was terrified about at the beginning was accidentally killing myself by injecting air. Yes, I have read too many Agatha Christies.

I'm never going to live this down am I? 😂

I actually know that air bubbles aren't dangerous for subcutaneous injections (due to training I had prior to starting injections with DC3, she was just a baby so training was mandatory) but they can mean less medication is delivered and they can also make the injection site more painful. Nothing life or death thankfully.

Coventree · 16/05/2025 22:06

It’s only us, we won’t tell anyone else 😂

And glad your DC3 has you looking after her x

You should be okay @bridgetreilly 😉

There's no chance you'll kill yourself with an air bubble but I have irrational anxiety a lot of the time so I understand your fear, honestly though you don't need to be concerned about air bubbles. I was just trying to be funny when I mentioned them earlier. You are injecting just under the skin in to fat with a very small needle. The worst that would happen is some pain at the injection site. You only need to worry about air bubbles if you are injecting in to a vein which we are not doing.
That being said, people should still read the damn leaflets and follow instructions! 😜

jennieflower · 16/05/2025 22:23

I'm new to this chat, so apologies if this has been mentioned before, has anyone got the “golden dose” out of the quick pen?

4 weeks in and 18lbs down
