Late April starters - thread 3

1000 replies

wlinewbie0425 · 16/05/2025 14:48

We’ve filled another thread already, with fantastic support as most of us reach week 3 or 4 and think about pen 2! Thread 3 now as we enjoy the unexpected early summer and move into our second month of Mounjaro, lighter in both scales and mood.

Phew I’m here, thank you @wlinewbie0425! I’ll try harder to keep up with this thread 😂

wlinewbie0425 · 16/05/2025 23:00

Well done on the losses @StartingApril2025 @Hawkmoth@ellieinfrance@IttttttssssME @PoisonIvy89

@Ricoletti (ms I presume?) Pizza Hut sounds great. I wish I had learned from your Caesar salad issue yesterday as I ordered this at lunch at pub today and it was not good. Ended up feeling sick and headachy (that part might be the heat) for the rest of the day.

Interesting on the site injection. I’ve done all 4 in tummy roughly at the points of a square as shotsy records upper left etc. just planning to repeat that now. I have no stretch marks on belly (honestly sheer luck after huge bump with DDs) but my thighs are covered in them. I figure my stomach is easy to reach and has plenty fat to choose from but it makes sense to do other areas if scar tissue affects absorption.

@CrunchymumI have wondered about the priming as never seen an air bubble since first week. I was reassured reading in here early on that air bubbles won’t kill me!

@jennieflowermost of us on this thread are on week 3 or 4 and some will be trying this next week, myself included, and reporting back. There is more first hand advice on the threads that started a bit earlier than us.

Good evening all.

Thank you for the new thread. It's already moving swiftly.

I'm wk3 day5 and 7lbs down since my first jab. I'm happy with that as it takes me to a stone since the 14th April. ( I lost a bit before I started on mj).

I wore a pair of jeans tonight that I bought a couple of months ago that I literally squeezed myself into ( vintage so no size options ) and tonight they did up easily and were loose. That pleases me more than the scale numbers.

I've got a busy weekend doing diy so lots of activity for me. Have a lovely weekend all.

wlinewbie0425 · 16/05/2025 23:20

That’s awesome about your jeans @Brunocatmonright now my favourite thing is trying on clothes I had stopped wearing and discovering the things that fit again. It’s even better than numbers on a scale.

Me too, I have adhd so have to work hard on not obsessing over numbers but I love trying on things that didn't fit well previously

Scousebloke · 17/05/2025 07:21

End of week 4 for me. 2lb off this week making a total of 10lb over the 4 weeks. Not spectacular but im happy with it. 5th jab tonight and im sticking with 2.5mg for now.
Incidentally there is a thread on here called piling on the weight after stopping mounjaro. Very active with lots of different opinions, only started on Thursday and has 20 pages. Fascinating if rather scary read.

I’ve been reading that one. Definitely worth thinking about how we might maintain in future. I thought I would only be on MJ for a short time but this seems to indicate otherwise for a lot of people.

GoGoGovy · 17/05/2025 07:38

Morning.

Weigh in day. Only a 3lb loss in 2 weeks. I injected yesterday and have no side effects or suppression, so I’m now wondering if the pen is working. My 2nd wegovy pen has arrived. I’ve gone up to 0.5mg. If I don’t see any results by the end of that pen, I may join you guys and order mounjaro.

Checking in to keep up! We move so fast.

Well done on all the losses.
Ordered my 5mg yesterday, but still have one more 2.5 jab to take. Still not got as much suppression as W1&2 so I'm wishing the time away 🙈

I was a previous Wegovy user.

I did 8 weeks and lost a measly 5lbs. I did have a horrible flare of an autoimmune condition (not related to WLI) and was off my feet for 3 weeks so I wasn't doing any exercise but I was so very disappointed with Wegovy.

I'm not faring as well as some people on this thread but I'm 9.5lbs down in 3 weeks on MJ (just took my 4th jab yesterday) and although I've still struggled with feeling hungry - especially in week 3 - I am still seeing some loss.

Wish I'd gone straight to MJ when I initially started in February.

AbundanceofKatherines · 17/05/2025 08:03

Morning late April buddies - I’ve missed you all. I am back from my holiday (2 weeks glamping in France). I have tried to keep up with the threads but they certainly move quickly! Congrats to all on the losses and thank you all for the interesting and informative comments. This is such a great community.

My news is - I had a seriously amazing holiday! Interest in food and booze was minimal, so I was able to great each day with a clear head and a spring in my step. I love this new me! We went out to eat several times and I skipped starters & pudding, mainly chose fish and barely touched the carbs. One glass of wine was ample.

Interestingly, I never felt deprived - fully satisfied and content with the food. As a couple of people mentioned on the previous thread, the food actually seems to taste (and smell) so much better and eating is really enjoyable, but it seems you can have too much of a good thing. A couple of evenings we ate too late for me and I was quite uncomfortable with indigestion when trying to get to sleep, so I’ve learned to eat early and not drink too much water with dinner.

I took my 4th jab on Thursday morning and chose the stomach for the first time. I initially chose thighs because I thought there was less chance of rubbing on waistbands, bag straps, etc. Also, my stomach is so horrendously huge and embarrassing, I hate to look at it. I didn’t really like stomach and will probably go back to thigh.

I have had no side effects in the first 2 weeks and 6 days with good suppression and limited food noise. However, week 2 day 7 - week 3 day 2 I have had a bout of diarrhoea each morning after breakfast and I felt very nauseous yesterday afternoon. I’m inclined to think this is something I ate as it started before my 4th dose, when my levels (according to Shotsy) were very low. However, this has made me nervous about moving up to 5, which is annoying as I was looking forward to it.

Now for the weigh in news - a weight loss on holiday is not something I have ever achieved or contemplated! But….

SW 12st 11.5
CW 11st 9.4
GW 8st 10

Starting Waist 42”
Current waist 37”

I lost over half a stone on holiday!

I am ensuring I eat enough protein (which is hard), drinking lots of water. I took hand weights on holiday and did regular work outs. Walked 5 - 8 miles every day on holiday.

I appreciate that this level of loss is not sustainable and will drop off now, so will be aiming for 1.5 - 2lbs per week.

I am so thrilled with this medication!

Sorry to write so much, but you are the only people I can share this with - my DH is the only person I have told and he would not be interested in the nitty gritty.

x

GoGoGovy · 17/05/2025 08:06

@PumpKim @Crunchymum Thanks x. There are lots of great losses being reported, so I’m feeling a bit down. It’s an awful lot of money for not a lot to show. I’ll see how the 0.5mg pen goes and then decide what to do. Well done on your losses.

catchingzzzeds · 17/05/2025 08:07

jennieflower · 16/05/2025 22:23

I'm new to this chat, so apologies if this has been mentioned before, has anyone got the “golden dose” out of the quick pen?

4 weeks in and 18lbs down

I’ll be doing my first next Friday 😬

catchingzzzeds · 17/05/2025 08:13

@Brunocatmon That’s amazing 💪🏼

@Scousebloke 10lb is brilliant, I’m at 11lb and it would have taken me much longer without MJ. I’m going to look up that thread- thanks

@AbundanceofKatherines fantastic!! So pleased for you and hopeful for when my holiday comes around

wlinewbie0425 · 17/05/2025 08:22

@Scouseblokethat’s a great loss so far and the top end of the ideal recommended rate of loss for it to be healthy and sustainable so well done.

I’ve been reading that thread and thinking ahead too. Too early to know or decide now but I am musing on the idea of a few months micro dosing after I reach goal and go back to 2.5 for a bit first - I am not recommending it, but interested in the many stories of this - and using the longer period of time to really embed the habits of better nutrition, smaller portions and less booze.

wlinewbie0425 · 17/05/2025 08:30

@GoGoGovy3lb in 2 weeks is still good but it’s definitely worth checking with your supplier how swapping works if you think Mounjaro would be better I think I read elsewhere they let you start at higher doses if already on an equivalent dose.

@AbundanceofKatherines that’s fantastic. It’s really positive to hear how enjoyable a holiday can be on this as I think we all fear it being restricted, as holidays are always synonymous with indulgence. Great for all of us to know it could be even better!

Sunshineandpool · 17/05/2025 08:33

Morning gang!

Thanks for the new thread @wlinewbie0425

W4D1 - for me, I took my 4th jab last night. It's gone so fast! Feeling ok, this morning. Just feel like my dinner is still sitting in my stomach. I had it a bit late last night.

I'm feeling a bit fed up about protein! I need to get 90g. I've been tracking what I eat and I'm getting around 50g. I'm going to be looking at ways to get more but it's not so easy when you can't eat much more! I've also so far not liked the protein powder and not liked the protein pudding I tried so no, easy options with those so far! I still have a protein iced coffee which I will try later and hope I like!

How are those on Juniper getting on? I'm on level 2 on Build and did the full body workout yesterday. I'm so stiff the world's greatest stretch is really not that great. I also can't do a side plank for the life of me!

Catherhino · 17/05/2025 08:34

@Sunshineandpool side planks are the work of the devil, along with burpees. Whoever invented them needs some kind of special hell 😫😫

Coventree · 17/05/2025 08:38

@GoGoGovy don’t be disheartened - there’s lots of slower losers on this thread too so don’t just take the bigger (fabulous!) losses to heart. You’re doing great and are in a better position than when you started x

@Scousebloke wow, that thread’s a bit of a scary read…but putting weight back on after any restrictive eating period is very typical, isn’t it (I know I’ve cycled down then up many times), so I’m taking it as a general theme rather than wli specific. There’s a lot of ‘spiky’ people in there too, which makes me especially thankful for our little community!

@AbundanceofKatherines how amazing! You are doing so well 👏

@jennieflower hi there! As others have said, we’re all just coming up to our 5th jabs next week/week after, but I posted in the last thread about using a syringe as I went off-piste for my 3rd and 4th jabs (sorry for not ‘following instructions’ @PoisonIvy89 😂). It was…different to using the pen and you probably get used to it, but it’s not something I would be in a rush to repeat.

Hope everyone has a fab Saturday!

Sunshineandpool · 17/05/2025 08:39

@AbundanceofKatherines sounds like yiu had a fabulous time! I completely agree that food tastes better and that along with feeling less tired it is making me want to cook more. I also know however delicious the food is I won't over eat.

Crunchymum · 17/05/2025 08:43

@GoGoGovy3lb in 2 weeks is still good but it’s definitely worth checking with your supplier how swapping works if you think Mounjaro would be better I think I read elsewhere they let you start at higher doses if already on an equivalent dose

Unfortunately if you swap there is a mandatory 5 week wait and you have to start MJ as a new user. They aren't interchangeable.

I agree slow and steady is beneficial though. I just want my loss to be a little more than if I was going it alone. I'd be happy with 6lbs a month for example.

ymemanresu · 17/05/2025 08:45

Crunchymum · 16/05/2025 20:04

OMG. No I've never primed it.

Shit, 4 jabs I've done as well 😪

Hi , i forgot to prime twice too, i think i was too over excited/ nervous . It will be fine

Coventree · 17/05/2025 08:46

How about overnight oats @Sunshineandpool with the protein powder all mixed in? I do frozen fruit in a bottom layer, half a cup of oats, half a cup of milk, dollop of Greek yoghurt (about 30g or so), couple of spoonfuls of protein powder plus one collagen spoonful then mix it all up. I make 3 or 4 jars at a time so they’re ready to go for a few days. My Fitness Pal has them coming out at 25g of protein each (330 calories, 40g carbs, 7g fat).

wlinewbie0425 · 17/05/2025 08:47

Ah thanks for clarifying @Crunchymumive clearly picked that up wrong somewhere. It does make sense as the drugs hang around in our systems a long time.
