We’ve filled another thread already, with fantastic support as most of us reach week 3 or 4 and think about pen 2! Thread 3 now as we enjoy the unexpected early summer and move into our second month of Mounjaro, lighter in both scales and mood.

@CrunchymumI would too say that I am needing to focus more on protein and veg. Carbs I have definitely reduced but I have been using a lot of Pinch Of Nom recipes and a lot do have a fair bit of carbs in there. Im thinking of maybe trying to cut carbs from one meal (say lunch). Yesterday I had 2 boiled eggs, some sliced ham, cucumber sticks and pickled onions for lunch and to be honest it kept me full.

Speaking of beige food I have been following a guys MJ journey on you tube and he pretty much had chicken and wholegrain rice for his evening meal for 6 months! As much as I love both I honestly cant imagine having the same thing daily! (I get bored after 3 or 4 days having porridge for brekkie! )

Is anyone else having the same things daily?? Should I be doing this, am I doing something wrong??

Crunchymum · 18/05/2025 10:05

@Sheldon4k

I can have the same breakfast (often do most days) and lunch (although I mix that up a bit more often) but there is no way I could eat the same thing for dinner everyday. Cajun chicken, brown rice and salad is a massive fave of mine and I have it a few times a week but couldn't face it every night.

Think I'd find it easier to have dinner as a carb free meal so I may try that a few nights a week.

I am actually portion controlling carbs (I weigh / measure all mine) but I still think I'm having too much.

Coventree · 18/05/2025 10:48

I find I have to stick within tramlines of ‘good’ food to eat otherwise the temptation to just have bread/toast at every meal is too much. So it’s overnight oats with fruit, protein powder, Greek yoghurt and collagen for breakfast (or Greek yoghurt and fruit if I forget to make a batch up), then some variety of eggs/chicken/quinoa options (link below from my post in last thread) for lunch with salad leaves or dinner on green veg which gives dishes like this (I also have the first picture as my phone wallpaper so I see it every time I pick my phone up to nudge me to be good!):

I’d love to hear any other tips for batch prepping that people do?

Coventree · 18/05/2025 10:57

D’oh! Sorry to post again, but I clearly didn’t do the link right and too late to edit - it’s the third or fourth post from the end on the thread 2 anyway!

50lbstolose · 18/05/2025 11:00

Thanks @Ricoletti I am going to pop to the supermarket soon. Is dioralyte sufficient do you think?

Ricoletti · 18/05/2025 11:50

@50lbstolose good question! I wondered this too but decided not to get dioralyte, as it seemed more aimed at actual dehydration from D&V rather than adding electrolytes… but I basically know nothing about it so 🤷🏻‍♀️ maybe they are just the same stuff …

I had good results with a tube of basic electrolytes from home bargains (a few quid per tube) … they were with the protein powders etc and I’ve seen some in supermarkets too. I had a tube of these (look like denture tablets/ berocca type tube) and had one a day until by vidrate arrived. They are a tablet that you dissolve in a glass of water.

I have decided to keep going with the vidrate sachets after my free trial, mainly because they have different things in each of the sachets, like the bedtime ones have magnesium, some have a bit of caffeine etc. and they are different flavours so I don’t get bored.

I think ultimately as long as they are electrolytes, they are helpful x

Hello everyone, congratulations on all the victories and hope you’re enjoying a sunny weekend. Could someone help me please, i feel so stupid.Just opened my new 5mg pen, didn’t count clicks but twisted it to the first number 1. Injected as normal but it doesn’t look like any liquid has come? I primed and the needle worked fine. I don’t want to do a double dose , what do you think?

Late April starters - thread 3
ymemanresu · 18/05/2025 11:52

oh that says 0 so i’ve done half a dose?

Ricoletti · 18/05/2025 11:55

@ellieinfrance No random muscle pains but after a big walk recently my lower calves/just above ankles ached and felt so tight!!!! I think I’m just not used to walking much , and my muscles are like those of a newborn baby deer…

This lessened after some magnesium supplements and a magnesium salt bath. I had another walk yesterday and wasn’t as bad.

I recall being a bit generally achey, with random aches and pains , in first few weeks of MJ before I discovered electrolytes.

Ricoletti · 18/05/2025 12:00

@ymemanresu did the plunger feel like it was working normally when you injected?
Did you look at the amount before ooh ting and does it look different now?

I vaguely recall on the very first injection of first one that I thought it didn’t look like the volume of liquid had lessened in the pen afterwards… but I didn’t get a proper look at it before I injected so don’t know if the black but that pushes it had moved, if you know what i mean. I will have a look at my new 5 pen now and see if it looks different to yours…

Ricoletti · 18/05/2025 12:01

ymemanresu · 18/05/2025 11:52

oh that says 0 so i’ve done half a dose?

Edited

If you primed then twisted until the 1 was in the window… then injected until the 0 was in the window then that’s a full dose I think x

PeachSnail · 18/05/2025 12:02

@ymemanresulooks like you've done one full dose. If the dial shows 0 it means you've taken a full dose (according to the leaflet that comes in the pack). The liquid you can see is the rest of the liquid for your 3 other remaining doses

Hawkmoth · 18/05/2025 12:06

@ellieinfrance I had a couple of days where my thighs were sore for no reason, but I've not had that this week.

Today all I can think about is beef. My body clearly wants protein. Meal planning today so will include home-made burgers and a stew or two. I'm looking at my list of meal and snacks ideas (SM has really got my number and keeps showing me high protein batch cooking videos!) and I just feel like I couldn't eat anything on there at all.

Lunch today is going to be some mashed avocado with lime, salt and lots of pepper, some hummus and a couple of slices of chilli cheese.

Ricoletti · 18/05/2025 12:12

@ymemanresu this is what mine looks like without any doses taken. I’ve looked at the image of yours compared to mine, and to me it looks like the grey bit on yours is twisted further into the remaining liquid than on my one? This suggests that you have taken a dose. It won’t look like 1/4 of the liquid is gone, due to extra bit that is always left in the pen after 4th dose. What do you think?

Late April starters - thread 3
ymemanresu · 18/05/2025 12:37

Oh sh*t so annoyed with myself, i think the plunger was the same, not sure.🤔.Not risking a double dose, i guess i’ll find out later if any has gone in

I would check with your prescriber on this. I saved this image from another thread ages ago and it does look more like before first dose in comparison, however if you turned it all the way to 1 and pushed back to zero while injecting you should have taken a full dose. You can’t risk taking double if not sure. If it were me I would either call supplier to ask advice OR wait at least 4 full days and if you feel like you’ve not had anything then I think you can then take another dose. I’ve not got my instructions with me just now but check if that’s right as the minimum time.

That's definitely a full dose. I remember thinking it looked like nothing had moved on my first jab of 2.5, so I really think you'll be fine @ymemanresu

ymemanresu · 18/05/2025 12:59

Thanks all, i will check with my provider and tell you if ive got the horrible burps this evening

Sallycinnamum · 18/05/2025 14:04

Morning all. W4D2 and no side effects at all after jabbing in my tummy instead of thigh.

However the suppression has definitely lessened. Wondering now if I should have jumped to 5mg but I've ordered my second 2.5mg pen and not entirely sure I can change the order now.

I think I'm stuck with 2.5mg for the next month. Even if I lose 5lbs over the next 4 weeks I'll still have lost a stone, which will be incredible for me.

Chunkysewist · 18/05/2025 14:33

@Sheldon4k my evening meals are pretty much my normal family meals. They are usually balanced and healthy, although tonight's tea is sausage, beans and chips! 😂 I still want to eat as a family and make the good habits sustainable. I couldn't do chicken and brown rice everyday 🙈

@ymemanresu it looks to me like that is a full pen still? I just zoomed in on your photo and popped a new pen on top of it and the plunger bit lines up exactly. Obviously don't do another dose but definitely check it with your provider. I can't work out why it wouldn't have worked though if the clicker bit and everything did as it should ❤️

Ricoletti · 18/05/2025 15:02

family meal ideas ?

I’m trying to do evening family meals that are flexible , as I’ve found I’ve been eating different foods from the fam (still eating like a toddler).

My kids (teens) don’t know I’m on MJ and are going to start to wonder why I’m never eating the same as them. I’m also seeing this as an opportunity to make more healthy , nutritious meals for us all (I’m sure I’m not alone in relying on some beige food or the classic beans on toast on busy work/activity days… or just when I can’t be bothered!)

so I’m meal planning for this week for meals where I can avoid too many carbs , are high in protein and I can just have a smaller portion of if needed.

Any and all suggestions of other meals are very welcome please 🙏

I like to cook (and make most of our dinners, as I find it relaxing - alone in the the kitchen with my iPad - and in the past with a glass of wine!). But my job is busy and I sometimes don’t get home till 6/7 , so can’t do elaborate feasts on weekdays usually. I’m open to batch cooking when I have time at weekends.

so far I’ve got :

Wraps/fajitas (chicken for meaties/ quorn the veggies) with grilled peppers and salad.

beany chilli bowls with greens / veg (rice for fam, I’ll have mine with just greens/ veg)

lentil daal with greens and roast potato (a firm fave in our house) … I’m thinking I’ll have a sweet potato, the fam prefer regular potato’s.

tabbouleh type salad, with quinoa and loads of greens chopped , with flatbreads and grilled halloumi. Minty yoghurt etc. (made this last night- yum!!!)

traybake roast veg with chicken/ meat substitute, crusty bread for those that want it .. maybe with some coleslaw or something?

steamed veggies, mash and sausages with gravy (wife’s fave, I don’t particularly like this but I martyr on and make it once in a while 🤣)

build your own burgers with chips and salad (I’ll veto the bun)

I feel like before MJ we ate a LOT of pasta… but I almost can’t face making it because I know I can only eat a teeny bit 😕

StartingApril2025 · 18/05/2025 17:14

@Ricoletti these are great suggestions! Iv been using chat gpt for ideas too.
just back from a special lunch out with family, I didn’t make a wise choice with asweet chilli chicken and salad dish as it’s by far the greasiest meals Iv had as came with garlic bread and coleslaw etc and the chicken was breaded!. Didn’t eat it all but lets just say I was in a rush home to the toilet not longer after and tummy going bonkers now. Will say though that for day 2 I hadn’t any feeling of fullness compared to other weeks which was weird but stopped eating for fear of side effects more than fullness! Did skip the dessert though which was a positive. Will see how the rest of the day pans out now😫😳
thankfully no other occasions out in the foreseeable !

BonnieClydeSW15 · 18/05/2025 17:15

Hi all! Lovely to hear everyone’s news! Also great to hear that my own experience is similar to others! I’m on W4 & almost no suppression this week and food noise has increased. Had a terrible sugar craving today & couldn’t resist some biscuits 🙈 Also I’ve been feeling really cold too! It probably doesn’t help that I’ve been so busy at work & no time to prep meals properly. But I still feel better than I did 3 weeks ago so will take that as a win! 😁

Ricoletti · 18/05/2025 17:42

@StartingApril2025 chat GBT is a good idea!
I’ll ask it what I should eat next week 🤣
