We’ve filled another thread already, with fantastic support as most of us reach week 3 or 4 and think about pen 2! Thread 3 now as we enjoy the unexpected early summer and move into our second month of Mounjaro, lighter in both scales and mood.

Can I ask has anyone felt any effect on their mental health as the medication has reduced its effect? I was feeling so good when I started but now I'm feeling anxious and depressed. I'm hoping once I go up a dose I'll perk up again.

violetmondays · 16/06/2025 17:55

@Brunocatmon congrats on the 2 stone that's brilliant 👏

@Hawkmoth I felt awful all weekend, basically just totally knackered and weak - even just doing the normal house jobs absolutely wiped me out. I napped both days this weekend and went to bed early which isn't like me at all. I jab on a Friday and I've noticed I'll feel fine on the Friday but the next 2 days I feel rubbish and this weekend was was a total write off, but feel back to normal today. Which is fine if I've got no plans but not great if I want to enjoy my weekend. Not sure if it's the MJ itself or the lack of calories. Anyway, still feel like it's worth it :)

Hawkmoth · 16/06/2025 18:08

Mine was definitely a virus. The whole house got ill, with me being last, and worst 😬 I find that the day after jabbing I do need an early night, but overall energy levels are much higher.

BudgieMom · 16/06/2025 19:06

Week 7 weigh in and it's a 1.5lb loss taking me to a total of 1st 3lbs! Hope everyone is having a great week 😊

Sorry you’re feeling like this @Sunshineandpool ☹️. Is this the first time you’re experiencing a dip in mood or has it happened before?

Coventree · 16/06/2025 20:43

They sound good ways of approaching the weekends @dozywelshbird and @Seahawk80🌟

Well done @Brunocatmon - think you’re our first 2st-er? Sorry if anyone else has claimed the honour and I’ve not noticed!

’Butternut squash shaped’ @Hawkmoth 🤣🤣🤣

Great work @BudgieMom and all other losers 👏

I was reading a thread the other day about this. A few people mentioned they felt increased anxiety on MJ so I don’t think you’re alone. Sorry you’re feeling this way.

bridgetreilly · 16/06/2025 21:01

As of today, I have lost 20lb. Saw a friend for lunch who noticed it too, so that was nice.

PoisonIvy89 · 16/06/2025 21:14

@PeachSnail glad to hear you're doing better, hope this week is much better for you

great losses@dozywelshbird @Brunocatmon @Hawkmoth @BudgieMom @bridgetreilly

@Sunshineandpool as well as reducing food noise the mounjaro also reduces general brain noise for me, I have less anxiety and intrusive thoughts. So far that hasn't stopped but I'm still staying on 2.5 and don't feel like I need to move up a dose yet. Has your food noise increased along with your depression and anxiety? Do you plan to increase your dose for your next pen? You should probably mention it to your prescriber and gp, they do say when ordering to keep an eye out for depression and stuff

I cant say that anxiety has increased, and this is something i suffer with (been off medication for about 3 months) but I have noted that since increasing my dose my mood is pretty low. Because of this and a constant tired feeling I am considering dropping back to 2.5 as I didnt notice it on the lower dose.

Brunocatmon · 16/06/2025 09:11

Morning all.

Been busy renovating but have been reading along.

I just ordered my third 2.5 pen. This dose is still working for me. I am getting more food noise than the first month when I literally couldn't eat but I'm thinking that for me it's good to think about food a bit but be able to say no to things I would have normally eaten in the blink of an eye. As a pp said not one biscuit but a whole pack. Now I dont even have one.

Im not on a training schedule yet as im busy getting my house ready for my dd's returning from overseas on Friday. Im so excited, but once they're settled in I'll be making time for myself so in the short term i'm not worrying about it.

I go on holiday with 4 of my dd's on the 28th June and although my tummy is looser than I would like, it's a lot smaller than it was in April.

Bloody well done to everyone doing this, it's not an easy fix and we should be all so proud of ourselves.

Im off to work now. Last day then annual leave for a week.

Oh and I just hit 2 stone off since April 14th. X

2 stones, that’s fantastic, well done!

Yay for the summer dress @Sallycinnamum

yay for the fig action 💩 @Coventree

yay for the jeans @Ricoletti

Glad you’re cautiously back on track @PeachSnailand hope the side effects stay away.

Well done on the losses @dozywelshbird@BudgieMom@bridgetreillyand @Brunocatmon - wow at 2 stone!!! 🎉

@Seahawk80i am the same i find calorie counting soul destroying - trying to make this work without it - just being aware of nutrition. Hoping I can avoid it though feel like I’m in a bit of a plateau.

Congrats on the NSV @Hawkmoth from a fellow pear!

Sorry to hear you’re feeling anxious @Sunshineandpool- this is a long slog that we’ve started and it’s hard to feel balanced at times. I definitely have lost the excitement of the first month when I felt full of energy and drive and have felt a bit flat and low, more than anxious.

Ive now done 4 weeks on 2.5, 4 on 3/3.75 so I think im going to try moving to 5mg this week as I don’t have lots on which I then will for many weeks after so if there are going to be side effects I would rather deal with them now.

I had a random anxiety day last week. But I think the depression has been gradually increasing over last week. I felt so good on mj for 6 weeks and now this feels like rebound.

I don't really get food noise. What I do get is cravings for carbs after I take my mental health medication at night. The mj stopped that. Is is coming back a bit and my appetite increasing. But what I realised was that like you a lot of things were stopped that I didn't realise until all the intrusive thoughts and anxiety around food has appeared again. I have stayed on 2.5 but will go up to 5 next time.

I had to take a lorazopam for my anxiety for the first time in ages x That's odd you felt depressed on increasing your dose. My depression seems to be as a result of the 2.5 being less effective on my 2nd pen. I hope you're ok.

Im fine, just generally feel a little low. It could be down to being tired almost all of the time, the slow down of results after having such a high for the first month or something totally unrelated. Im just aware it has been since increasing the dose.
Hopefully just a blip for us both and anyone else with similar issues!

Went to administer my fourth dose from my own and it has totally jammed! Anyone else had this? I don’t know if it’s because I’ve been counting clicks and not doing full doses but I have so much left and I can’t get it out. If I get syringes, how much do I draw out? (This gives me a bit of the fear BTW…)

I’ve not had this but others have. If it’s jammed and nothing moving without force your absolute safest option is to use a separate syringe. Do you have one? If not the quickest way people have mentioned is to buy from a local pharmacy. 1ml 8mm 30/32g insulin syringe. You need 0.6ml to match the normal dose.

method - draw 0.6ml air into empty syringe. carefully push the needle into the pen then very slowly inject the air into the pen. Will feel resistance doing this but it helps so you aren’t then working against pressure when extracting the liquid.

then invert the pen so liquid is down. Pull back the plunger beyond 0.6ml to fill with liquid. Remove from pen and prime syringe by holding needle up and flicking it to make bubble rise then push plunger up to 0.6ml exactly.

@wlinewbie0425 thank you! I’m extracting 3.75mg from a 5ml pen so would that be 0.6? I read somewhere else it would be 0.45?

those instructions are super helpful 😊

wlinewbie0425 · 17/06/2025 07:26

0.6ml or 60 clicks is a full dose.

0.45ml is the same as 45clicks yes.

its all just ratios of 0.6 or 60.

0.45/0.6 x 5=3.75

or 45/60 x5=3.75

same works for any pen strength - best to be able to work it out and not rely on charts if you are going ‘off label’ with dosing so you always know and record what you have taken.

First time posting but follow every day. I am 5 weeks in and have dropped from 82kg to 78 today. My son started last Tuesday and is already down 4k in a week! I’m happy for him but why am I so slow. I am exercising and in a 500 calorie deficit, 66 years old. Does age have anything to do with it? Feeling very disappointed in myself.

catchingzzzeds · 17/06/2025 07:49

@Kbr22as you can see on this thread, it’s so different for everyone. Starting weight, age, activity levels, height etc all have an influence. As hard as it is try not to compare yourself and they do say slow and steady losses mean you’re much more likely to keep the weight off long term.
