Thought I'd kick start a new thread for this oh so supportive little group, as the last thread was reaching it's limit.

@seastoat that was lovely to read your thinking around what to wear as shape changes.

I think for so many of us we have been overweight for a long time, I know I have. I have no idea what will suit slimmer me. I know I like simple, unfussy clothes but I have no idea if they suit me.

Good God! I have just been struck by the awful thought that I might suit things I hate.

I have a friend who has been on WLI for over a year, and up until a couple of months ago I'd only ever seen her in black, tent-like clothes - you know the kind. Now she has emerged from her chrysalis as a butterfly, not a moth, and is regularly out and about in tartan pants and bright blouses and funky styles. It's a revelation, seeing what her actual tastes are as opposed to what she had to wear when she was overweight. I've always leaned towards unfussy clothes too, and often black (and red), and I don't think that's just a size thing - I always wore stuff like that, going back to being a teenager and had a slightly Goth edge. No idea what I will wear when I have a world of choice before me. Personally I'm looking forward to not wearing leggings with everything, and not having to worry about thigh chafing - anything else is a bonus!

CosmicCuppa · 09/05/2025 14:03

Woke up this morning and I’m finally in the two hundred pounds range (very very upper). I’ve lost 44lb so far (12 on Mounjaro in a month) and I’m 298lb (21 stone 3lb). Hoping to lose 3lb next week to bring me into the next stone bracket.

I’ve got about 100lb more to lose total which will hopefully be off this time next year. Progress is slower than I’d hoped but it is consistent! This drug is a miracle.

5mg injection day on Sunday!

UsernameShmusername2024 · 09/05/2025 14:16

Great to read about everyone's progress.

I did my 12 week weigh in this morning- have lost 45lbs in that time which I'm obviously pleased with! I really wanted to be able to think to myself that I'd lost a stone per month - I'm still 22st so have a long way to go and achieving a high weight loss like that makes the mental struggle with the scale of the challenge easier! Am a bit worried about the negatives associated with fast weightloss but not sure whether I need to be..I'm eating 3 meals a day, not having to force myself to eat other than occasionally and am usually between 1200 - 1600 calories a day. I'm still wearing the same jeans but they are very loose - need to dig about in all the 'that'll fit one day' storage bags of clothes...

I go on holiday in August and really hope I'm in a place by that point where I feel significantly better and able to enjoy it without the usual worries.

Onwards and downwards everyone!

I actually can’t even envisage no thigh chafing. I must have 20 pairs of cycling shorts to wear under dresses - they’ve been revolutionary but would be amazing not needing them! I wear a plus size 18-20 and can’t wait for the day I can shop in “regular” stores.

I want to book a holiday for September so one of my goals is to aim to be wearing a size 16 comfortably by then. Being comfortable on a plane, feeling good around a pool. In the past I’ve always paid A LOT of money for private pools/swim up pools as I’ve been too self conscious to be in a regular pool with other people. You don’t realise how your weight affects you in so many different ways. I am optimistic I can achieve this goal though which is a strange feeling!

eibbed999 · 09/05/2025 15:43

Those are lovely goals @Potato1234 - I suspect we've all been scarred by holidays, from the seatbelt extenders through to the pool-side shame! Everything does feel more possible now, I agree. I am travelling to London on the train in about a week and a half, and I will still be spilling over the seat next to me (not a disaster because my son is coming with me), but I am so looking forward to the day when I only take up a normal sized section!

That’s an amazing loss, well done! I think the same - in my head I would ideally want to lose a stone per pen (including the golden dose). But we shall see

LucyBnotG · 09/05/2025 16:08

Hello, I'm hoping to join in if that's okay?

I started mounjaro in July last year at just over 20 stone. With at least 11 to lose to reach a healthy BMI. I'm not sure if I will get close to that but I'm going to focus my efforts in the right direction and see how things feel along the way. So far I've lost 79 lbs (5st 9/36kg) with my next interim goal a stone away.

For the first time ever, getting healthier feels possible and I'm so happy to see people with similar starting points smashing it too.

Potato1234 · 09/05/2025 16:16

@LucyBnotG congrats, I bet you feel amazing?

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 09/05/2025 16:18

Hello @LucyBnotG welcome to the thread. You and I started MJ at about the same time and have lost the same amount of weight.

Well done! Keep at it.

Mum2Fergus · 09/05/2025 16:23

Can I join you all please?

Currently on wk12, all on 2.5mg but switching to 5mgs effective new pen tomorrow.

Start weight / BMI: 19st 9lbs / 44.4 (obese)
Current weight / BMI: 17st 6lbs / 39.4 (obese)

Wks 1-4 (2.5mg): -17lbs
Wks 5-8 (2.5mg): -6lbs
Wk 9 (2.5mg): -1lb
Wk10: -2lbs
Wk11: -5lbs
Total loss: 31lbs

Goal 1: 10% of starting weight (27.5lbs loss) ✅
Goal 2: 10% of wk11 weight (22.4lbs loss, total 49.9 loss)
End Goal: healthy BMI (between 18.5 and 24.9 for my height)

LucyBnotG · 09/05/2025 16:44

@Potato1234 Thank you, it doesn't always register that I'm doing so well but every now and then I notice and feel very happy about my progress.

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne Oh lovely! It's nice to meet people at similar point in the journey. Well done on your losses so far. I wonder how long other people have been going.

There seems to be a variety of experiences on the different threads. Some people just wanting to lose a few stone and some career dieters like me propping up the weight loss industry.

Last August, when I shattered my ankle, I needed an initial emergency surgery to have plates and pins fitted, and then a follow up surgery because the first one wasn't up to scratch. I was about 22 stone 7lbs at the time. My anaesthetist in both cases was very reassuring, and told me the only real danger is when people lie about their weight to make themselves sound smaller, because then it can throw off the calculations! In fairness, within the the emergency medicine arena and also with my physio since, nobody has blamed my weight - apart from me of course! It was having to get weighed for a dexa scan that really made me think 'come on now, this is getting silly...' That all said, even though I was super-duper obese, I was also pretty active and had good BP etc.

This is interesting to hear, I am just recovering from ankle reconstruction after a nasty fall, I have had pins/plates and ligament repair and hoping to finally get out of the boot next week 9 weeks post surgery and try and get moving again. Putting in yet another stone post my fall is what has spurred me into finally taking the leap to do this. They wouldn’t do my op under GA so I had to be awake with a spinal block which was daunting but fine in the end. I do have sleep apnoea as well though (another thing I need to lose weight to improve).

eibbed999 · 09/05/2025 17:00

Wishing you all the best with your recovery @ConfusedMiddleAger83 - I also had ligament repair (deltoid) in a separate op as it had torn. It's a very unpleasant injury and the extra weight does not help, it all puts extra pressure on an already traumatised joint. It made me realise how vital my mobility was, for sure. I only recently stopped using my crutches and the ops were in Aug and Sep. I will be mentally scarred by the memory of the boot forever! I had no issues with the GA, but as you say that might be linked to your sleep apnoea as well. And after ages of injecting myself with blood thinners post-op, twice a day, the Mounjaro jabs held no fear for me! Good luck getting out of the boot - get as much physio as you can (you'll be sick of spelling the alphabet with your foot before long!) I paid for some hydrotherapy and it was fantastic.

ConfusedMiddleAger83 · 09/05/2025 17:09

Thanks @eibbed999, yes I am doing lots of physio already and thankfully those awful first weeks non weight bearing are fading into a distant memory and I hope the boot does soon too! Indeed the blood thinners have desensitised me, not worried about the injection, just the unknown side effects - my first pen has arrived today so I’m going to bite the bullet this eve and am so inspired by all of you further ahead on your journeys. I know my ankle will thank me with less weight to bear!

TragicMuse · 09/05/2025 17:13

Well done everyone! And welcome new friends!

Ahhh the too-fat-for-surgery thing…funny how that doesn’t seem to count if they’re talking about weight loss surgery, eh??

So fine for a stomach-staple, not fine for joint repair…

I can’t imagine what that’s all about 🤯

Anyway. WI for me tomorrow. I’ve noticed a lot less nausea this jab and less reduced appetite/more food noise in the last couple of days. I don’t know if that’s 5mg losing effectiveness or just a temporary thing, but as I’m halfway through this pen I have a couple of weeks to consider what I’ll do for my next one. If 5mg is working for me I’m v happy to stay on it.

I’ve lost most of what I gained on holiday which is great!

As for goals, first was 10%, second was 1.5st. My next is 2st and then just through the stone losses.

My ideal BMI (acknowledging that it’s a load of bollocks!) gives a range of 8st 9lb to 10st 13lb. I simply cannot imagine how a 5’ 7” adult woman could weigh as little as 8st 9lb! It seems unrealistically low. I actually have a small skeletal frame, apparently. I’m not very wide across the hips/shoulders. Maybe that’s it. Still, I have boobs, and I cannot imagine myself that small. 11st is in my head as a sort-of goal, but who knows!!

AlicesMum2025 · 09/05/2025 17:55

Best of luck @ConfusedMiddleAger83 with your first 💉

Somewhat similar to you and @eibbed999 I had ankle surgery 18 months ago after falling down the stairs, with plates and screws for bilateral fracture. Luckily no torn ligament but even so my soft tissues took a long time to recover. I know what you mean about the MJ injections being a breeze after injecting yourself for so long with blood thinners!! After 3 months of total non-weight bearing bed rest I couldn't wait to get up and about (especially for no more using a commode!). Although the boot is annoying it's a means to an end - and I got my nephews to put some stickers on it so I looked very fashionable 🤣.

18 months later, I'm almost fully recovered. I say almost because it will never be the same again, but it doesn't really hold me back physically. My weight holds me back (as does my mind because I'm still scared of the stairs).

By all this I mean to say, this period of recovery is a small slice of time in your life. You've already come through so much that you're on the way back to health with your ankle, and your weight loss will bring you closer to your health goals too

WombTangClan · 09/05/2025 19:22

Kay2000 · 05/05/2025 08:21

That’s a great weight loss, well done! Have you increased your pen dose to the max along the way or stuck to a lower dosage? I can’t wait until I can say I’ve lost 7st (stamps feet impatiently 🤣)

Sorry just catching up! I've gradually increased to max dose but I've had no side effects

Mum2Fergus · 10/05/2025 08:06

End of week 12 weigh in for me and another 3lbs off, 1 more pesky pound and I’m down 2.5st in total since starting.

Collect pen 5 today and have moved up to 5mgs after 4 weeks on 2.5mgs.

Start weight / BMI: 19st 9lbs / 44.4 (obese)
Current weight / BMI: 17st 3lbs / 38.9 (obese)

Wks 1-4 (2.5mg): -17lbs
Wks 5-8 (2.5mg): -6lbs
Wks 9-12 (2.5mg): - 11lbs
Total loss: 34lbs
Goal 1: 10% of starting weight (27.5lbs loss) ✅
Goal 2: 10% of wk11 weight (22.4lbs loss, total 49.9 loss)
End Goal: healthy BMI (between 18.5 and 24.9 for my height)

TragicMuse · 10/05/2025 11:03

Good morning losers! WI for me!

Week 11, 5mg

SW 19st 4lbs (Jan 2025, pre-MJ)
SW on MJ 18st 8lbs (1 Mar 2025)
CW 17 3.75lbs
Loss this week 1lb, but that includes a gain and re-loss of an additional 3.5lbs!!

Total loss 28.25lbs

Interim GW (set by Nutracheck!) 15st 8lbs

Phew! Back on the downward trajectory.

I was thinking about my holiday gain, I think it was the booze! I genuinely didn’t overeat my calories or eat back all my calories earned from walking - I couldn’t! A couple of times I hand off half the thing I’d bought to one of my sisters! So I think it can only have been the booze…

Note to self, steer clear of wine!!

Bubblemonkey · 10/05/2025 11:10

Can I join? Started out at 19st 12 last August. Down to 17st 3 as of this morning. 16lbs down on Mounjaro since the 12th of April. Wanting to get down to 9.5st, give myself half a stone buffer.

Yikes, another horrendous ankle injury - humans are badly designed! Glad you are feeling better, but yes, the fear is real. I stare at the floor so much now when I walk, I suspect my next injury will be from me walking into a lamp-post or something! And I come down stairs like a drunk crab. The dreaded 'c' word...commode. Bloody hell, that was a terrible time, never want to go there again. I also realised while being wheeled around in a chair, on ramps, etc etc, that my extra weight made me such a burden to my loved ones and that was part of my motivation for doing this.
