Thought I'd kick start a new thread for this oh so supportive little group, as the last thread was reaching it's limit.

Lots of amazing results here, and NSVs too. It must be an amazing feeling buying clothes from 'normal' shops ☺️ I can't wait!

I had my first harsh MJ lesson today, out with family for lunch, ordered a side salad and a portion of breaded calamari. I knew I was ready to stop eating before I'd even touched the calamari, but felt like I had to eat at least some.
Big mistake, I have felt sick constantly since I ate it.

I keep thinking it's not working as I still think about food and feel hungry, but I've realised now I can't eat anything like the amount I used to.

Thanks for the new thread @TheFunkyDuckling. Thread 3! I wonder how many we’ll end up with. Lovely to see lots of new people here with the rest of us losers!

Going back to things our mothers have said, mine told me that no one would ever love me ‘fat’, she never hid her disgust of having to buy me plus size frumpy clothing as a teenager. I cut ties with my mother a very long time ago. We have occasional contact via FB but on my terms only. I have the most wonderful husband who has loved me from the age of 16 and at whatever size I have been so she was wrong but that disgust has always stayed with me and my failure to be able to control my weight. Why was food more important than wanting to be slim when I wanted the latter so much?

Bibulous · 04/05/2025 21:18

The really good news is that I'm now six stone down and only a couple of pounds shy of half way to my goal weight! And I can cross my legs properly!

The bad news is that I've suddenly developed hyperthyroidism as a side effect of medication I was on last year. I've just started some tablets to hopefully control it but I'm waiting to hear back from the pharmacy if I should stop the MJ until my thyroid is under control again. I've been put on the endocrinology waiting list but it could be months before I see a consultant 😟

I have sub clinical hyperthyroidism, so not full blown, it’s just monitored, my tsh level is zero, the irony is that the side effect is weight loss, that’s the only one I didn’t get! Heart palpitations, itchy skin, shaking hands, a small goiter and anxiety are the main ones, but I was given the ok for MJ, but I’m only taking propranolol and have 6 monthly blood tests. Hope you get the ok to continue and congrats on the 6 stone!

Thank you @TheFunkyDuckling 2.5mg pens ordered, went with Farmeci, nervous but excited to start!

GnomeDePlume · 05/05/2025 08:00

I am really enjoying feeling in control of my eating for the first time ever.

Food was complicated when I was growing up. We always ate at the dining table - breakfast, lunch and dinner. Meals were carb heavy - potatoes, rice, bread.

DM was in charge of the food, its preparation and serving. She would decide how much was served and whatever was put on your plate had to be eaten. DM didnt teach us a love of food or how to cook. Meals were frequently dreary.

I dont blame DM for my size now, that is all my own doing.

Now I am feeling able to leave food when I have had enough and no longer want to fill up on carbs

Hi all, looking at starting this month. Currently over 160kg (how did that happen 😳!) So a lot to lose at 5ft 4in. Which pharmacy would you recommend? Thanks and great to hear some inspiring stories.

I started with Asda but I wouldn’t recommend that as they’re one of the most expensive. I didn’t “trust” those I’d never heard of - however I now know all on the list at monj are fine. I swapped to Zava as they fulfil the Asda orders and are cheaper and have discounts, I’ve had one delivery from them so far which went fine. Some people swap providers regularly to get the cheapest price but you do have to do your photos etc each time. Welcome, I’m 5’4” too, and I’m currently just under 20st and feel healthier already.

That’s a great weight loss, well done! Have you increased your pen dose to the max along the way or stuck to a lower dosage? I can’t wait until I can say I’ve lost 7st (stamps feet impatiently 🤣)

NotsosunnyShropshire · 05/05/2025 08:24

I don’t quite have 10 stone to lose, more like 8-9 (being realistic) to be at a healthy bmi, so have been lurking on the previous thread for long term Inspo.

I’ve lost 15lbs in 4 weeks, half of that was water weight, but it’s already affecting my neck. I’ve upped my skincare routine and started taking collagen tablets. Is there anything else I can do?

I assume when my losses slow down, that my skin will catch up, but I’m 50 and my skin isn’t as elastic as it used to be, unfortunately.

eta: 15 not 150 🤣🤣

Iwouldratherbesinging · 05/05/2025 09:44

@NotsosunnyShropshire I’m also very conscious of my neck area (and others, but they’re not on show!) and chin, I’ve tried prai neck cream after reading rave reviews and it was rubbish but affordable, I use a mixture of a collagen and hyaluronic acid in the mornings, collagen and retinol in the evenings. I have one of those buzzy led light wands that I use whilst with some bio oil once or twice a day when working at my desk - I work from home 😊. I’ve been doing this for about 5 months now and it hasn’t got any worse. I’ve just bought a big bottle of the Nivea q10 firming body lotion and use the excess from my hands on my neck, if anything it’s lovely and soft! I’m 57 so I’m not expecting miracles

TheZingyFish · 05/05/2025 09:56

Week 4 weigh in
Lost 1lb
Total lost 1st 0.5lbs

I’m a bit disappointed/worried this, although I know probably shouldn’t be. I have averaged about 1000kcals per day this week, as I have throughout this process but my weight loss is really slowing.

My losses to date are as follows: 7, 5 1.5 and now 1lb. I didn’t expect to be getting the big losses all the time, but though would get 2-3lbs. I obviously ordered my next pen after my third jab, so re-ordered the 2.5mg pen, but am now wondering if I should have ordered the 5mg as have slowed down. I do find I feel a little hungry at times but when I eat I quickly become full.

I need to think about the bigger picture, I have lost over a stone in 4 weeks and it has been easy. I still need to get on top of the constipation but in a strange way I feel lighter. I can feel my belly apron softening as I guess it is emptying out, I guess that is a NSV of sorts! 😂

As for unhelpful mother comments, here’s mine.
I was always a “bigger” girl as we ate generous portions for meals but was fit, used to play sport competitively. When I went to university I discovered the party lifestyle and drank a lot going clubbing 4-6 nights a week where I would dance non-stop.
By the end of university I had gone up to a size 20, my best friend was getting married the summer I graduated and she had asked me to be bridesmaid. My mother commented to me that one day I should stop eating and drinking so much as I would ruin the wedding pictures and it wouldn’t be fair to my friend as she would be stuck with those pictures for life. I was horrified and just stopped talking to my friend and our friendship never recovered. That was the first point when I started to hide myself away and be self conscious.

GnomeDePlume · 05/05/2025 09:58

I'm 58 so my plan is to scoop any excess skin up to the top of my head and wear it as a top knot.

Honestly though, I have had 3 CS, I will be 60 by the time I reach a point where I say 'enough'. No idea how much excess skin I will have. But whatever I have will be part of the story of me.

I think you do go through a period as you approach a 'healthy weight' where you still have a fair amount of fat under the skin. It takes a while for your body to go round an clear all of it out. It's only when it is actually just skin where you know if there is a problem to address.

GnomeDePlume · 05/05/2025 10:06

@TheZingyFish if constipated you are probably walking around with a few days worth of food inside you. Your are still carrying the weight you have lost.

I have started adding a lot more fibre to my diet (psyllium husk capsules) some people are finding they need a bit more help so are using movicol or similar.

If you are only consuming 1000 calories per day you will be burning fat. At the end of the day that is what matters not what the scales are saying.

mamabeeboo · 05/05/2025 10:48

@peppercornrent @Bibulous
Your weightloss is incredible and so inspiring!

I'd love to ask a few questions please - what worked best for you personally? Are you eating 3 meals a day? Do you have low carb? Intermittent fast? Or something else?

Secondly, do people treat you differently? Society and people who you have known throughout the different weights?

Finally (and the question I'm most interested in!) what size /weight were you where every stone /every kg lost became noticeable? I'm still at the beginning of my journey with a 3 stone loss and no one has noticed other than my husband.

Bibulous · 05/05/2025 10:55

Thank you! The hyperthyroidism has really knocked me for six as it's also caused me to have very high ferritin levels. I've been feeling awful.

Hopefully the pharmacy will give me the ok to keep using MJ but if I have to stop for a while to get the rest of my health under control I'll just have to accept that.

Bibulous · 05/05/2025 11:21

@mamabeeboo a few people have spontaneously mentioned that I've lost weight but not many. Most have waited until I said something first and then they all say how my face has narrowed.

People's weight is such a sensitive subject that I think a lot of people don't want to risk saying the wrong thing.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 05/05/2025 12:58

@TheZingyFish I went up the doses, one after the other, until I got to 10mg, then I stayed on it for three months.

I've been on 15mg for months now.

I've been losing weight for sixteen months.

I've been on MJ for ten months.

I've lost just over 7st in that time.

I've gone from size 24/26 down to size 12/14.

My BMI is still 32 though, which shows how mad BMI is.

Good luck to new starters and anyone who's joined the thread. You'll get there. We're in it for the long haul.

PinkArt · 05/05/2025 17:38

Thanks for the new thread.
I'm currently 3st 9lbs down, since November. Onwards and downwards.

WeAllHaveWings · 05/05/2025 18:39

Can I join you all?

I started Mounjaro around 10 months ago and I have mostly been hanging out on the >5st thread until now. I've just hit some big milestones on my Saturday weigh in with 100lb loss and BMI < 30.

I have been lurking on your 10st thread now and again but I never joined before because even the idea of hitting 11st 13lbs to take me to a healthy BMI<25 or hitting that 10st mark of 11st 5lbs just seemed out of reach and to be honest I was a bit in awe of you guys with such high ambitions. So I focused on the BMI<30 target, but now I've crossed that and I am "only" 40lbs away from that 10st goal, I'm daring to dream the rest is actually possible.

I will be keeping in touch with the lovely posters on the >5st thread, but I am also acutely aware that last stone (or three) will probably be the hardest and longest, will bring unique challenges, physically and mentally that only people losing 40%-50% of their body weight will truly understand.

This is my Mounjaro journey so far, I am a numbers person so will bore you with these on my Saturday weigh in!

End of week - 45 (5 x 2.5mg, 40 x 3.75mg)
SW - 21st 5lbs BMI 44.8
CW - 14st 03lbs BMI 29.8
Losses (2024) - 10,2,2,4,1,3,3,3,1,3,2,2,3,3,2,3,3,2,1,4,0,2,3,3,1,4,0
Losses (2025) - 0,3,2,1,3,1,1,0,2,3,3,-1,3,2,2,1,2,2
Total loss - 7st 02lbs (100lbs), 33.4%
Next Target 🎯- 13st

TL;DR - Looking forward to getting to know you all a little better 💗 (I will shut up now 🤣)

Onenotsosmallstep · 05/05/2025 20:18

@Iwouldratherbesinging @TheZingyFish. Your stories nearly had me in tears. I do think for all of us on this long journey- wherever we are on it now- there’s some level of trauma to undo. Nobody gains 10 stone in a month or a year it builds over time, and there can be so much damage done in that time.

I remember years ago when I was having my boys that someone said it’s a good thing pregnancy is 9 months as you need that time to mentally adjust to your new life. I’m wondering if there’s something in that for us all with a lot to lose- we can have the time to readjust not just how we see ourselves physically but have time to heal too.

In other news, I need to decide this week whether to stick with 5mg for a second pen- currently having good suppression and losses or to order 7.5mg. I had been with Asda for my first two pens and was planning to change to an online pharmacy but Asda have cut the price of 5mg to £138.98 and sent me a 10% discount code…

That’s amazing, I’ve seen you on the other thread too. I want to lose at least 100lb (147 to my target goal of 11 and half stone 😱) which seems massive but looking at your numbers, you’re very much losing steadily of 0-3lb a week, which goes to show slow and steady works. Can I ask what sort of eating plan you follow? All I’ve had to do so far to lose 31lb is to cut out snacks and eat a bit less. But my losses have slowed down/stopped for a fortnight and I’m wondering if now I need to either count calories (which I really don’t want to do, memories of diet clubs..) or intermittent fasting or I’m not sure what.

But I’m reordering the 7.5 again, as I think that gives me the option to have that, but I can continue to get a lower dose from it still.

pinkcow123 · 05/05/2025 20:49

I’ve been on MJ since beginning of Feb, I’m 17kg down!
and I’m 5kg away from my first goal, which is my pre-pregnancy weight!

I would have given up by now on any other diets, but I’m not even thinking about it twice!! It feels like a way of life now!

I still have a long way to go! And I’ll think about my next goal after the first. But I’m 10% + of my body weight down!

I’ve lost more than the weight of my toddler!!

No, they send you the letter, and it's up to you to decide whether to forward it on to your GP
