Can't believe I'm now a size 6!

Gone from 11st 5 to 7st 9 in 8 months (mounjaro) and I still cannot comprehend that I fit into my size 6 jeans that I've had for over 10 years. Has anyone lost a huge amount of weight and struggled to accept they are a size they never thought they'd be? Even when I owned the jeans, I was always a bit too big for them. Now they fit me perfectly. One thing I am sad about, none of my clothes fit me anymore even the ones I love!

Well done!

I've been a size 14 for around 3 years now (age and lifestyle related weight gain) and still try to wear/ can't believe I am no longer a size 8 🤣

I’ve just gone on Superdrug’s website.

I was curious as to whether or not I could get Mounjaro.

i, admittedly, do not know much about it.

im 5’7 and I weigh 11 stone 11.

id like to get down to around 11 stone (less would be good but I think its unrealistic for me).

I put in all my details and it’s now just asking for bank details.

im really surprised.

I didn’t think I would get it, no questions asked, at this weight.

im surprised, upset. But also tempted.

it’s 2.5mg for a month, I think.

wondering if I should give it a go.

or would one month not do anything?

You would not get it. Your BMI is barely overweight. Your details are checked by a human after they have your payment details and you would be declined at this point.

According to NHS your weight should be less than half of hour height. https://www.nhs.uk/health-assessment-tools/calculate-your-waist-to-height-ratio

Thanks!

Please can someone advise on best weight loss company and which brand e.g mounjaro or ozepic? I am definitely going to give it a go and buy it online.

IBelieveinSomething · 30/04/2025 22:56

I am 5 ft 3 and 12 stone so hopefully eligible.

These threads do make me jealous! I’m a 12 with a BMI of 23. Would love to be an 8-10 again, but wouldn’t be allowed a prescription. But then I see people going down to size 8, so they must have gone past the BMI of 30 rule and then kept going somehow … Maybe they will change the threshold one day.

I can’t believe how quickly these drugs have just changed the world - I keep bumping into people that have suddenly lost weight and look amazing!

This is how I feel.

I'm a 12, (and short) would look a million times better as an 8-10 but can't get there alone. Can't get the drugs. Hmm.

Oh really? Ok, thank you.

I had assumed they had already done a rough calculation and okay’d it OR were just dishing it out to anyone.

im relieved to hear that’s not the case.

Although im approaching menopause, have a sedantary job and am starting to despair of ever losing this weight.

i reallly dont want to spend the rest of my life at thei weight / level of fitness, but i guess ill just need to do it the old fashioned way.

You’ll have a BMI of 29.8 so just under the 30 required. The irony is if you spent a week eating chocolate you might hit 30 and then be able to get the jabs and get your BMI down to 20 … this is how I understand it anyway

I would hate to sound body shaming, but I do find it perplexing that they sell size 6 in adult clothing.

Congratulations OP that's fantastic news.

Why?? How tall are you? I'm small-framed and just over 5 foot 2. I was easily a size 6 if not a bit smaller, throughout my 20s. I stopped growing when I was about 12 so I was basically the size of a 12 year old girl (and used to buy kids' clothes as they were cheaper!)
I'm not much bigger now - in fact I'm wearing my 12 year old son's cast offs. Not everyone is the same.

Why is it perplexing?
I'm very short (less than 5ft) and occassionally wear size 6 if that fits better than 8.(some shops size 6 is more like a 10) I'm not skinny or underweight, and I don't fit (or want!) Children's clothes most of the time

Itsoneofthose · 30/04/2025 23:18

@LionAndEmperor13 i know what I’m saying sounds controversial and I don’t mean to. I should maybe keep my thoughts to myself, I just don’t see many women I would imagine fitting in to a size 6 anywhere at all. It doesn’t seem healthy to me. Size 4 especially encourages eating disorders.

Divebar2021 · 30/04/2025 23:43

I have absolutely no desire to be a size 6 and I’m kind of concerned that lots of users seem to be aiming as low as possible. Are some people getting carried away with it all? I know when I started there was no discussion about what a suitable goal weight would be. I’ve chosen a weight which would give me a BMI of around 22 / 23. I just don’t think that a size 8 is going to be realistic for me ( although I’m knocking on the door of a size 10). I have thought my face is looking quite angular now and I definitely have a little crepey skin happening but I am in my 50’s. My friend was approved today and had to have a video consultation so I hope that the tightening of the prescription guidelines may help with the obvious misuse.

Divebar2021 · 30/04/2025 23:43

I’m also sad that my clothes are ALL too big and I don’t have the cash to replace everything

Well can you imagine someone who is 151cm tall? That's me. Before weight gain most of my casual clothes (plain tshirts and jeans) were for 12 to 13 year olds but struggled with professional clothes. Why shouldn't I be catered for. If am size 10 am getting on to the overweight range. So it's not about you keeping your thoughts to yourself. It's about learning that oh there are different people out there. So your post is of value. You would be amazed at how hard it is for a woman my size, at 47 to get clothes that fit because very few brands cater for us.

If OP is 5 foot tall her start BMI would have been over 30 and her current BMI about 20, and size 6 at 5 foot is perfectly in proportion.

All ok. Op didn’t say how tall she is though.

All you've done is the order. You have to be prescribed it by a doctor which won't happen so your order will not be processed.

My mum was a size six. 5ft and perfectly in proportion. Before mainstream shops started selling size 6 clothes, she had to wear kids clothes a lot of the time which weren’t always suitable for a grown adult.

I’m 5 ft 4 and when I had a BMI of over 30, I could still fit into a size 12 in many items. I’m still over weight with a BMI of 28 but size 10s are starting to fit now.

You have to be obese, and you have to send photographs of your body so you can't just pretend you weight 3 stone more than you do! Why are you trying to get hold of a medication that isn't prescribed for your weight? Does that sound sensible?

Some people can get it with a BMI of 27 and over if they have another medical condition linked to being overweight (e.g. high cholesterol or high blood pressure). They are not obtaining it from “illiterate” places. They are obtaining it according to the prescribing guidelines.

Yeah, you could lie about it on the forms but lying about your vital statistics for a weight loss drug which is only authorised to be administered for obese people isn’t sensible is it?

I think all prescribers now either ask for photos to be submitted of a zoom style meeting so you would obviously need to look obese as well, which is more difficult when you have lied on the forms.

LaurieFairyCake · 01/05/2025 05:39

Well I’m well under 5ft, currently wearing size 8 clothes but my BMI is 24.4 (so only just into the healthy range). Ideally I want my BMI to be 22 so I’m comfortably into the healthy range as I’m just a few pounds away from being overweight.

so I need to be 7st 7pounds to have a BMI of 22.

that means I have over a stone to go even though I’m a size 8.

a size 8 on a short person is really a size 12 on an average height person.
