Can't believe I'm now a size 6!

Gone from 11st 5 to 7st 9 in 8 months (mounjaro) and I still cannot comprehend that I fit into my size 6 jeans that I've had for over 10 years. Has anyone lost a huge amount of weight and struggled to accept they are a size they never thought they'd be? Even when I owned the jeans, I was always a bit too big for them. Now they fit me perfectly. One thing I am sad about, none of my clothes fit me anymore even the ones I love!

They are only worried about the health of people not taking it 🙄 apparently it’s fine to use at size 6 if you were fat but not okay if you have a healthy BMI to start 🤷‍♀️

There are risks to taking this (and any other) medication.

In the balance of probability the risks of taking it are considered less serious/likely than the risks of bad health and deterioration that result from being obese.

If you are already a healthy weight then you are adding risks by taking the medication when there is no risk to not taking it.

A physical disorder?! Carrying extra fat isn’t a physical disorder and OP obviously doesn’t need it anymore if she’s a size 6. It does feel like a cheat when I struggle everyday to maintain a size 8 and people are taking a drug to get to a size 6, something I’m always striving for but would have to starve for. I’m a recovered anorexic but seeing threads like these is very triggering.

They stay off them?

It’s been pretty well reported that some people with ADHD have noticed an improvement and I think it’s being investigated now

I’m in the category.

😲😲😲 I'm 5ft6 I think (I'm 168cm so not sure what that is in feet but I think its close to 5ft6)! If I was size 6 my BMI would be about 16 I think!!! As I said, I'm at BMI 20.5 now and I'm size 12 (and google says I should be size 14 as my waist is 32" which apparently is size 14).

Can't believe you were told to loose fat when u r a size 6!! Wow we r all so different! I hate having a fat stomach and would love to be a size 8 to 10. I don't think I could be a size 6 without being v unhealthy unfortunately, so that will never be a size I will be.

Just realised you might not be British! I'm struggling to see how anyone could be UK size 6 and told to loose fat. Please tell me you weren't referring to UK size 6 @HeyItsPickleRick ? Are you from USA?

With kindness, I strongly suggest that you hide the whole weight loss injections topic so that you can’t stumble onto a thread like this again. Anorexia is a terrible illness and you’ve done incredibly well to recover. Flowers

4FoxxSake · 30/04/2025 21:06

Well done, that's incredible!

I was 17st 5 and I'm now 11st 6, another 13lb and Im normal weight. Dropped from a size 20 to a 12!!!

As my only medical condition was the small food demon in my head, I paid for MJ myself and it has been worth every penny!
I didnt realise how much I ached carrying myself about, until I noticed i didnt ache, my back my knees

BlueTitShark · 30/04/2025 21:07

FuckityFux · 30/04/2025 18:03

I’m 15 stone and my GP won’t prescribe it for me because I have no other weight related health issues. How on earth do fairly normal sized people get a prescription? 😳

I’m heavier than you AND have other health issues and I still can’t get it from my GP, despite him telling me getting privately was the best idea I ever had.

The list if conditions you need to have (on the top of the weight/BMI) is very restrictive and you need 4!!! of them.

Basica.ly it’s expensive. The NHS can’t afford to pay fur so many people to have it. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

Unless you are very short I’m surprised you met the clinical indication for the injections, please get proper medical advice on what to do now and dietary advice on sensible long term healthy eating. That is a very low weight

I’m 5ft. I’m 12 and a half stone and have type 2 diabetes. 11 and a half stone was when I first hit the pre diabetes HbA1c. According to the BMI scale my lowest healthy weight is 7st 2. I haven’t been that weight since I was about 12. For me between 8 and a half and 9 stone is comfortable. My mum is my height and she has natural been around 7 and a half stone all her life, she’s not skinny with it.

NautilusLionfish · 30/04/2025 21:17

Now am jealous. Am very very short so any weight gain makes me look like a rugby ball. I was always size 4 to 6. I remember not finding my clothes in uk. Used to get best from US size 0 or 00. 15 years, 2 kids on and perimenopause later and am 8 to 10. Mostly 10 on tye bottom. Now am wondering if u should go on Mounjaro. Adhd means I lack consistency in all I do and diet and exercise won't last long.

GetOverItPleaae · 30/04/2025 21:21

Size 0? Size 4? Size 6?

Where are all these super slim people coming from today!!

I was feeling quite happy at size 12 but now beginning to doubt myself!!

To everyone that is size 6 / 4 / 2 / 0 ... What is your BMI? What is your weight? and how tall are you?

SnakebitesandSambucas · 30/04/2025 21:27

I think people forget that when your short and I'm talking 5.4 and under. You are designed to be smaller. I'm 5.1 and I have weighed nearly 13 stone and I felt / looked awful and struggled. But sometimes we can't help it due to medical
Issues and also medicine.

Caddycat · 30/04/2025 21:30

I'm 155cm and 73kg, that's a bmi of 30.4 and I fit in size 12 sometimes 14. I have a small frame. So you can be a size 12 and obese if you're short enough 🤷‍♀️

Relatable! I remember buying size 6s and sewing them smaller, now that seems impossible. Posts like these make weight loss injections really tempting.

Thanks. I guess that makes sense. I don't know why I'd always assumed waists were the same regardless of height! So I think I thought a 5ft person should have the same waist circumference as a 6ft person. But I suppose I was wrong (thankfully!) and smaller people should be smaller all over!!

Anyone know if there is a chart anywhere that says healthy waist circumference by height? (I'm sure I have a larger than normal waist circumference for my height and BMI!)

YourChirpyFatball · 30/04/2025 21:39

Well I'm just 5 ft and weigh 11 stone. On meds for high BP and cholesterol. I just put all my details in Morrisons and was refused as not suitable for it. I'm also an ADHD binge eater and have yo yo dieted my whole life from 6.5 stone to current 11 stone. I'm a bit disappointed but have to get on the treadmill yet again. From an 🍏 shaped Weeble. 😭

SilenceInside · 30/04/2025 21:46

@YourChirpyFatball your BMI is 30.1 and you have two weight related health conditions. I’m surprised that Morrisons have said no. I’d try one of the many other suppliers instead. Unless there were other aspects of the consultation form that ruled you out?

According to NHS your weight should be less than half of hour height. https://www.nhs.uk/health-assessment-tools/calculate-your-waist-to-height-ratio

Do you think saying you're a binge eater goes against you?

NoWayRose · 30/04/2025 21:52

These threads do make me jealous! I’m a 12 with a BMI of 23. Would love to be an 8-10 again, but wouldn’t be allowed a prescription. But then I see people going down to size 8, so they must have gone past the BMI of 30 rule and then kept going somehow … Maybe they will change the threshold one day.

I can’t believe how quickly these drugs have just changed the world - I keep bumping into people that have suddenly lost weight and look amazing!

lavenderlou · 30/04/2025 21:56

I'm confused about the practices of online suppliers. I understand that you have to be a certain level of BMI to be prescribed weight loss drugs in the first place, but is there a weight where they won't supply you any more? Is there monitoring to prevent people from becoming underweight?

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 30/04/2025 21:56

Yes. Binge eating disorder is an eating disorder and a contraindication for WLI.

SilenceInside · 30/04/2025 22:02

@NoWayRosethe BMI prescribing criteria are to be able to start taking these medications. The aim of the medication is to get the person taking them to a healthy weight range. That’s what the intention behind taking them is. To move from obese, or morbidly obese, to a healthy weight. You aren’t obese or overweight, so you don’t have any of the health risks or actual health issues that people who are obese will have. So losing weight for you is not about health in that way. So don’t be jealous of people that do have those risks or actual health issues, and be glad you don’t need to take a prescription medication.

I do get this from an intellectual perspective. There’s just a little bit of me that still fancies dropping a dress size, while sensible me says your argument!

whitewinespritzerandastraw · 30/04/2025 22:16

I’ve just gone on Superdrug’s website.

I was curious as to whether or not I could get Mounjaro.

i, admittedly, do not know much about it.

im 5’7 and I weigh 11 stone 11.

id like to get down to around 11 stone (less would be good but I think its unrealistic for me).

I put in all my details and it’s now just asking for bank details.

im really surprised.

I didn’t think I would get it, no questions asked, at this weight.

im surprised, upset. But also tempted.

it’s 2.5mg for a month, I think.

wondering if I should give it a go.

or would one month not do anything?

No. You can just tell them your, say, 65kg when you are actually 56kg and they wouldn't know. I was asked for photos when I signed up but no-one's checked in with me since! I just tell them each month how much I weigh and they believe me. I could be 25kg now and noone would know (I'd also be dead! But you get my point......)
