Can't believe I'm now a size 6!

Gone from 11st 5 to 7st 9 in 8 months (mounjaro) and I still cannot comprehend that I fit into my size 6 jeans that I've had for over 10 years. Has anyone lost a huge amount of weight and struggled to accept they are a size they never thought they'd be? Even when I owned the jeans, I was always a bit too big for them. Now they fit me perfectly. One thing I am sad about, none of my clothes fit me anymore even the ones I love!

I wonder when I see these huge weight losses, has it taken its toll on your faces?

DurbevillesGirl2 · 30/04/2025 18:47

This makes me want to get mounjaro with a BMI of 18 because I can’t get my weight that low from dieting. Seems unfair.

I just worked out my BMI and it’s 29.5 🙄

Are you sure you're as tall as you think you are?

Yes, thanks, my cheekbones are fantastic and my jawline has firmed up.

Tbh that’s pretty irrelevant compared to the health benefits of losing weight and no longer being obese. My face so far is fine though.

MounjaroMounjaro · 30/04/2025 18:53

I went past a beauty salon today that was advertising the injections.

Mine was about the same. I just knocked off 2 inches from my height.

I was really fat and didn’t particularly want to gain more weight just to tip myself into the obese range.

If you eat enough protein you don’t lose the muscle in your face.

LaurieFairyCake · 30/04/2025 18:57

Durbevillesgirl

i assume you’re WAY at the other end of the height scale than the OP Grin if you’ve a BMI of 18 but weigh over 7st 9 pounds

my bmi is 24 (was 30) and I weigh 8st 9 pounds. To get to a bmi of 18 I’d have to weigh 6 stone something.

minnienono · 30/04/2025 19:00

Unless you are very short I’m surprised you met the clinical indication for the injections, please get proper medical advice on what to do now and dietary advice on sensible long term healthy eating. That is a very low weight

HollidayRanger · 30/04/2025 19:07

I pay for mine through MedExpress, it’s not cheap but better than spending loads on fatty foods.

Riaanna · 30/04/2025 19:10

BoyDoIMissSecrets · 30/04/2025 17:07

Congratulations.
Do you think it’s possibly time to stop now then op?
What are your plans going forward?

You don’t stop. You go onto a maintenance dose.

Riaanna · 30/04/2025 19:11

FuckityFux · 30/04/2025 18:15

Thanks for replying. I’ll look into how to order an online prescription. I had no idea you could get it if you weren’t massively overweight. 😳 That’s amazing.

You have to be obese. That is massively overweight.

MyDiamondShoesAreTooBig · 30/04/2025 19:11

Dude, my GOAL weight is 11st 5 😅

How tall are you? A woman would have to be very tall indeed for 15 stone not to be massively overweight. If your BMI is over 30, you’ll be able to pay for it.

Zippidydoodah · 30/04/2025 19:28

haha @MounjaroMounjaro ! I’ll measure myself again 😜

So, with regards to the maintenance dose. Surely you don’t have to stay on it forever?

Weeteeny · 30/04/2025 19:29

I can relate, I have gone from 17 stone to 11.5 stone, dropping from a size 18 to a 12. I still pick up clothes is stores that are too big for me when I get to the changing room as it's hard to envisage myself as a size 12. I am tall and look very slim in photos but I don't see myself like that in the mirror to be honest.
I have maintained well and in fact have lost a further half stone since I came off mounjarno.
I feel healthy and better than I have for the past 10 years and my health has improved . I have more energy and enjoy exercise now . I no longer have high blood pressure either .

HollidayRanger · 30/04/2025 19:30

I stopped on the 1st Jan after 12 months. No maintenance dose and I’m slightly lower in weight than when I stopped. You don’t need to keep taking it as long as you’re sticking with the good habits learned while on it. It was brilliant but not something I wanted to take forever

GlitchStitch · 30/04/2025 19:34

I pay for it online too. I actually have other health issues that would probably have allowed me to get it from the GP but to be honest I just wanted to be in control of it myself and not have to justify anything or be put on a dose I don't want.

My starting weight was 13st 10 and at 5 ft 1 that is in the very obese category. I've lost over 2 stone in 3.5 months. Not as fast as some but it's going consistently down and I've been lucky to have no real side effects. Definitely worth the money for me if it gets me back in my nice old clothes plus I'm saving a lot on food too.

Changeissmall · 30/04/2025 19:37

Just for balance I’ve been on it nearly a year now and have only lost 2 stone and gone from a 16 to a 14.
14st to 12st. Still happy with it and staying on it even though I haven’t lost anything for 4 months. I feel great and it’s 99% a perfect medication. I have reserved the 1% for the sheer cost of it.

See this worries me because your BMI is at the lower borderline for going underweight!

You are a healthy weight, be proud of that.

I’m working hard to lose weight without injections as my bmi didn’t meet the criteria. My goal BMI is 24, anything less would feel too small for me!

I think it’s easy to lose perspective but these are medications for people with obesity who aren’t able to lose weight without the injections.

GetOverItPleaae · 30/04/2025 19:38

Size 6?!! Bloody hell OP!!

My BMI is now 20.5 and I'm a size 12. I hold weight round my middle sadly!! I'll maybe be a size 10 at 19 BMI if I can get there.

What's your BMI? What shape are you? (I'm guessing not an apple like me!!!)

How did you get to size 6? are you a healthy weight?

Assuming you are not underweight, then well done! Must feel great 👍

I fully intend to stay on it forever if I can. Improved focus, reduction in inflammation, autoimmune condition under control and of course I have all the benefits of being a healthy weight to come.

If you have a BMI of 30 and no health issues that would exclude using this medication then you go private through a chemist that sells it (Boots, Asda, med express etc), the BMI requirement is lower if you have a weight related condition like diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure.

What BMI do you have to be to get this when you've got high blood pressure? Do you know?
