Hi everyone, it has probably been mentioned previously but there are so many posts! What were your side effects going from 2.5 to 5ml? I have hardly any side effects with 2.5, none really and going by my dates I will on holiday if I go to 5ml on my next pen. I don't want to miss a dose but I also don't want to be sick on my hols!! I am only W1D5 but I kinda feel hunger creeping in today and I don't want to go another month on 2.5ml if necessary.

Hi!
I am taking my last 2.5mg dose tomorrow, and moving up to 5mg next Thursday (I have my pen ready!).
Like you, I have had no side effects so hoping 5mg is the same! Will keep you posted! 🙂

I would try some electrolytes- or make a cup of squash and add in a bit of salt - that often makes me a feel loads better

Thanks. I’ve been having an electrolyte drink daily but will increase fluids, especially as it’s been quite hot here which doesn’t help.

Wonderfulstuff · 30/04/2025 16:21

@WonderfulstuffI’m also sticking with 2.5 as I don’t want to become completely reliant on it. As it is, at 2.5 I feel hungry/snacky 🤨 and have to think about whether I really need anything. Have a glass of water and then reconsider. The meds are making me feel full quicker which is v helpful to not overeating (assuming I can swerve snacking). Also less craving for a cold glass of vino which also helps.

If I can be more mindful about all of it then hopefully coming off it will be less problematic.

That all makes sense to me but might all be mental gymnastics 🤣

I think we are doing the same mental gymnastics😂as my thought process is kind of similar. I'm buying mine through a bricks and mortar chemist so I'm sure the pharmacist will try and flog me the 5 over the 2.5 (although they are the same price) tomorrow but I will hopefully not be swayed and stick with my decision. I think if I wasn't going away I might be more adventurous but would rather be on the safe side than ruin the holiday.

Anyone advise about taking Mounjaro on period ? I suffer every month and due on and due to take second jab tomorrow. No side effects last month but don’t coincide with my period . Don’t want to double chances of feeling shit!!

I did my very first dose while on my period and it didn’t make it any better or worse. I just had my second period since starting and I still got pretty bad cramps but the bleeding was much lighter than usual and only lasted two days so that was a bonus.

I’ve got the 5mg pen, and was hoping to stick to half does so taking 2.5, however I’m finding 3.75 is better, with no side effects and great suppression. Hubby is keen for a cold beer, but I’ve no interest at all for alcohol or chocolate (sadly my Vinted habit remains as strong as ever!) 😬😂

Yep my vinted [insert name of any retailer] habit has in no way been effected by the monj! 🙈😂

Just did the golden dose on top of regular 2.5ml - I kept pushing the syringe up and down to get it out - not sure that was right but got another 0.8 ml - it looked like loads - am a bit worried!

SausageRoll90 · 30/04/2025 18:35

So I'm a bit like you @Lundier @Cerberus1808 @wordywitch (and many others) in that I've been there done that with the calorie counting and I've not done it in probably 5yrs but I have decided to cc since starting MJ and I'm using the Nutracheck app. I used MFP for years on and off when my r.shipnwith food was very poor so it's got alot of asociation with disordered eating for me but I find Nutracheck better as it's a different interface etc. so it doesn't feel the same.

I track calories but I'm not obsessed with it. Firstly Like @fox919 I can't be arsed with all the faff all the time but also Infront want to get obsessed. I don't count the calories in veg and I don't weigh things religiously (although I am pretty good at estimating portions when I do weigh things) and I will still have food if I'm hungry even if it means going over my calories. It just helps me stay accountable and retraining my brain a bitm Some days I don't really track in the day but then I'll have a sit down in the evening and think back over my day. It's been a much better way for me to do it and using it as a tool to make sure I'm having a nutritional balance rather than using all my calories on carbs and chocolate because I definitely still eat these things but just less. Very much about sustainable changes because without that we'll all just end up back where we started and no-one wants that.

I'm reassured people are moving onto 5mg without too many SEs and better suppression. I'm taking my 4th dose on Friday and I'm planning on topping it up with the golden dose by an extra 1.25mg to get to 3.75mg 🤞🏻 someone has posted it before but I can't find the comment - how much do I need to draw up to get the golden dose? Am I correct that 0.6ml is the full 2.5mg dose? So I'd need 0.3ml for the extra 1.25mg? Xx

hotshota · 30/04/2025 18:49

Reporting back after going up to 5mg yesterday

no additional SE. Just the usual fullness quickly when eating and lack of interest in food. Now to see whether it’ lasts longer than the 2.5 and then I’ll be happy sticking where I am

so for those concerned, it’s been ok for me :)

I'm hoping going up to 5mg had longer lasting suppression too. Last week or so it's not been great. It's been a real test of wills.
I don't really want to rush through the doses and get to the top doses if I can avoid it.
I'm hoping to get a 3.75mg dose on Saturday for my golden dose. If not I'm off straight up to 5 x x x

Djfjrjc2022 · 30/04/2025 19:01

I was really rough again Monday and Tuesday this week, I took some imodium Sunday night into Monday which stopped it for work but by Monday night it was back again and then yesterday I felt incredibly ill like my first week- a full pain/discomfort below my ribs and felt sick as a pig. Lasted a couple of hours! Luckily I don't work Tuesday but I do have my 3 year old and 1 year old home so it was tough!

I think I need to move the dose back a day or 2 to fully avoid work days, I usually do Friday night. If I took my next dose tonight, would I be ill sooner because it hasn't been a full week so it's like a higher dose? Usually I'm fine until Sunday night for any symptoms starting!

I heard my mum slag off a family member for taking MJ. This family member disclosed how all she thinks about is food and the only thing that’s ever helped is MJ. My mum said “she should just go to the gym?”. Yes, going to the gym will get rid of her food noise 🙄 this is coming from a woman who has had weight loss surgery!! Hence my reluctance to tell anyone about me using MJ

A colleague at work said that it’s all women on MJ and they’re all ‘mental’. Complete with swirl gesture at the side of their head. Things like this are why only 2 people know I’m on it. One of them is also on it (over 3 stones down so far) and quite open about it. I’m keeping schtum for now.

On the negative side, I think I’m on track for a 1lb gain this week. Official weigh in isn’t until tomorrow evening, but my new scales came today so I was stood on them to sync them with my phone. Oh, well, my first 5mg pen is in the fridge ready.

There doesn’t seem to be much stigma for weight loss surgery, which most of the time, is permanent. Not sure why WLI are viewed so negatively. I get worried that family will see the pens in my fridge at some point when they come over. Does anyone know a different place to store them could be? When I was on insulin when pregnant they needed to be in the fridge, but could be kept out of the fridge for 28 days once opened - is it the same concept?

Thank you, I guess that means you can’t use the “golden dose” if you store it out the fridge?

I keep mine in the fridge, but wrapped in foil so it could just be cheese or something 😎

I was so slim and toned before children 😂 It was totally wasted on me too!!

Have two boys of 2.5 and 4.5. For quite a few years, I've eaten a slice of cake or toast, every time I had the urge to scream. Highly effective! But not a good strategy long term, it turns out...

I’ve noticed after my 3rd dose (2.5) that my appetite isn’t as suppressed as last 2 weeks but I haven’t had the usual side effects so far either. I’m having to try a bit harder to continue on with the weight loss but it’s nice to otherwise feel normal and not ill! It’s my birthday this weekend so I’ll try not to over indulge…

Good morning, I am on W1 D4 and think I am down a couple of lbs (bought a new scales) however, I know I didn't eat enough yesterday. I know this is a really stupid question, but what does your suppression feel like? I was half thinking I would feel nauseous all the time and it would turn me off food, but I don't. I didn't eat until lunchtime yesterday and only had a bowl of soup until dinner. The reason I am asking this silly question as last night I didn't know if I was hungry or was it just habit, I am an awful evening snacker. I know I have to retrain my brain to eating only when I am hungry and stop the snacks. Not sure the food noise is gone either, but I think starting MJ is just constantly on my mind as its all so new, so I guess thats why I am thinking about what I am eating.

I have just started week 5. I have lost 13 1/2 lbs (just 1/2 lb off a stone). The only problem I have is constipation for which I now take fibrogel.

So far I do get hungry but at reasonable times such as breakfast, dinner and tea but do not crave food in between meals. I sometimes think I would have been eating chocolate because I’m in my own this evening etc., but that is almost a lifetime of bad eating habits! So I think these learned bad habits are not going to be forgotten because of mounjaro- I let myself think about it but that’s it, I’m no longer interested. It’s good that you recognise and ask yourself am I feeling like this out of habit?

I also have to think about what I have for the days meals, so I’m not sure how we can expect to not think about food. This is a very new system to us so I think it’s understandable that we are a bit consumed by thoughts of mounjaro!
