Week 1 weigh in - done!
Despite struggling to eat in the first week, I haven't admitted defeat and got my dh to (reluctantly) stab me last night. I'm very needle phobic. Week 1 he enlisted the help of my friend. Last night (8pm) he was feeling confident. At 8.15pm, my friend had been booked for next Friday night with strict instructions not to make plans. Poor man 😆

Anyway...
SW 93.8kg
W1 92.2kg

So not a huge amount but I suppose an amount nonetheless. Little wins 🥳

wordywitch · 10/05/2025 13:17

W6D4 for me after my first 5mg dose and I am struggling to eat much at all, almost no appetite. No nausea or gastric problems, just not hungry. When I do force myself to eat I’m trying to make sure I have some protein, veg and a bit of healthy fat if I can manage it. Also feeling a little constipated but otherwise okay. Have good energy, etc..

JMSA · 10/05/2025 13:31

Week 2 of 5mg from me. I did my second injection last night.
So far today the suppression has been quite good, which I’m happy about. First week of 5mg, I might as well have injected water 😂 The suppression was very low and I was ravenous all week.
Fingers crossed it’ll be better as it builds up in my system.
Funny how it affects us all differently.

JMSA · 10/05/2025 13:33

Oh, and zero side effects on 5mg, other than constipation (which is probably my fault for not drinking enough).

Dobbysdad · 10/05/2025 13:43

StrikeForever · 10/05/2025 12:05

Well done 🙂 I took my first dose of 5ml yesterday afternoon and haven’t experienced any side effects.

Ah that's good to hear!

It's not lack of empathy, it's more just concern that a lot of people don't seem to have done any research at all into this fairly serious medication and who think it'll just miraculously melt fat off without any effort. I'm also one of the lucky ones who doesn't get sucked into competitive weight loss, everyone takes their own path but some folk get disappointed if they "only" lose 1lb a week

I don’t know if I’m included in those you are criticising, but I’ve done loads of research - I’m also a medical doctor so capable of understanding the physiology behind these medications. But I am sadly also only human. I’ve successfully lost weight with diets like Fast800 before and because of this 1 lb a week does seem slow especially when I know I’m eating healthily and in a deficit and exercising. I know I could follow my meal plans from Fast800 and lose more quickly or bump up my dose so that I’m completely suppressed and don’t want to eat at all but I have chosen not to do these things mainly to avoid the hair loss I experienced on Fast800.

My head tells me that 1lb a week is fine. To be patient and keep following the program. My heart looks at all the pretty summer dresses in my wardrobe that I’m not confident enough to wear yet and wonders if this is really going to work for me and feels jealous of people constantly losing 2/3lbs or more a week. It’s not ignorance that makes me feel this way - it’s deep seated self hatred after being brought up in the 90’s and told that Kate Winslet was fat.

Lundier · 10/05/2025 14:41

I really related to what you shared @Incognitoburrito88 . I also feel irrationally impatient. Now the weight is coming off it feels urgent in a way it didn't before. It's worse than growing out an ill advised fringe!

SaddlebagSal · 10/05/2025 14:44

I find weighing every day and tracking in an app to be helpful for me - because I can see the line so don’t feel disheartened on a day when the scales go up not down. I can see the overall trend is down, and I just need to keep going.

interesting that I plateaued on the final week of 2.5mg and the first week of 3.75mg is showing a steeper drop.

I’ve also joined the band of post-menopausal women experiencing a bleed. I had problems with my HRT getting the balance of progesterone right, and ended up with a coil, so I’m a bit nonplussed that I’ve still built up enough uterine lining to shed. It’s very light bleeding and I’m not worried because it’s just like when I first got the coil and I bled and spotted for about five months. I will mention to my GP though.

Cerberus1808 · 10/05/2025 15:59

I wasn't criticising anyone so apologies if anyone has misconstrued what I meant. What I was trying to get across is I'm on a few MJ Facebook groups and there is a lot of people only wanting to lose less than a stone just to be beach ready. Or really disappointed when they're "only" losing 3lb a week (I've seen multiple posts where people lose a stone in 3 weeks and still think they should be losing quicker)

What I was trying to say was I think a lot of people go into this with the wrong mindset. It is a serious drug that is working well for so many people but some need to adjust their expectations of what it actually does, and shouldn't expect it to magically melt weight off you without any effort. I'm in this for the long term to try and break a lifetime of bad relationships with food.

Apologies if I've unintentionally insulted anyone. Wasn't my intention.

Crikeyalmighty · 10/05/2025 16:07

@Cerberus1808 I’m with you on that and have said some on other posts- it’s not a competition and it really isn’t a great idea fii often the long term to get to the point you are only happy where you are eating next to nothing .

loved the fringe analogy!! Yes - I was kind of ok being the weight I was until suddenly I wasn’t and now I’m very impatient!

TC4 · 10/05/2025 17:33

I thought I posted this earlier but it is still I. The comment box so I guess not -

After a couple of alcoholic drinks and some
chicken big I’ve had a big fluctuation upwards in my weight today 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ but I know it’s only water retention from having rubbish so will go back down again soon

SusanSometimes · 10/05/2025 18:20

I weighed myself today and despite looking slimmer and having had to tighten the strap on my watch this week, I haven't lost a thing this week! I am down a stone in five weeks though, so I can't complain.

HappyHugs · 10/05/2025 18:27

Week 5 Day 1

SW - 12st10
CW - 11st12
TW - 10st4

had been calorie counting but have sort of stopped as fairly happy that I can remain consistently on about 1200cal per day.

Think water intake definitely impacts rate of loss.

took bonus dose of 0.6ml today which I think is just a continuation of 2.5mg (messed up and lost a bit)

Will start 5mg pen next week - not sure whether to do 3.75 x 5 weeks (wasting a little) or 5mg x 4 …anyone else pondering same?

JMSA · 10/05/2025 18:57

Hi everyone

Can anyone please recommend a Facebook group for Mounjaro users? Preferably one that is private.
You lot are helpful and lovely, but the comments move too fast for me and it’s not the ideal platform for weight loss chat.

Hope you understand and thanks ☺️

Edited

I’m sorry Cerberus, I hadn’t intended to come across as if I was annoyed or anything and I wasn’t offended. Sincere apologies for any upset I may have caused anyone!

I think sometimes we don’t always consider different perspectives (just because we think what we think!) and was just trying to give an alternate perspective based on my own experience. Honestly I often just feel sorry for myself and others like me that feel that desperation and self hatred, and so tend to meet those people with empathy and understanding, even if I can see that they might be doing it wrong or going about it in an unhealthy manner. I do understand the concern you mentioned, because there absolutely will be people out there that push the boundaries of what is safe.

Squiffy01 · 10/05/2025 20:15

Is anyone else finding exercise hard?

I have never been the fittest person but could hold my own in a game of netball and racing my son down the street. But the one game of netball I have played since being on MJ I felt absolutely dreadful and also fell over twice one of those twisting my ankle 🤦🏻‍♀️

Was out today and raced my son back to our picnic and it felt like I had been running the entire day (not about 30 seconds).

also just sooo out of breath walking up stairs which has never been a problem I have.

Schoolsec · 10/05/2025 20:27

Anyone had any supply issues? Due first 5mg on Friday. Popped into local Tesco this afternoon and it’s out of stock with their supplier. Kept what was left in syringe of 4 weeks 2.5 mg. Is this the golden dose? Any suggestions of where to get 5mg for Friday gratefully received 🙏

I think you’d be able to get your next one delivered from most online pharmacies before Friday! If you prefer picking it up yourself then try Asda

Schoolsec · 10/05/2025 20:49

Potato1234

thanks for the Asda tip ! Will try tomorrow x

Glitterkitten24 · 10/05/2025 20:52

Evening all,
Injection day for me, have just taken my 3rd dose of 2.5. Lost 2lb last week but I know that I didn’t drink as much water as I should have done so will step that up this week.

I am getting emails from Mediexpress to remind me to order my second pen, and am debating about ordering another 2.5, or going up to 5. I’m having good suppression so far with no real side effects, so wonder if I should just stay on this dose rather than rushing to up the dose. What did you all do?

QS90 · 10/05/2025 21:00

@Glitterkitten24 I had good suppression week 3 too, but it had started to wane by week 4. I was glad I had ordered 5mg.

I haven't had any SE though, and am comfortable with rapid weight loss (even if it risks a bit of thinning hair). Might not be the same for everyone x

I'm finding the gym harder work for sure. A poster from another thread said how she had relaxed for 3 months on the exercise as she was so tired and then started to feel better so worked on building up cardio and weights after that point.

I'm taking it easier but doing a lot more lighter exercise, walking etc and not stressing that I'm finding it a bit harder. If it continues for months and months I'll have another think but I'm eating less (probably not enough) so it's bound to have an impact.
