Hi everyone - it’s my official weigh in today although I’m a daily weigher - please could someone look at my numbers and provide reassurance!

SW 13st 7

wk 3 - 12 st 13 ( - 8lb) - on holiday so didn’t weigh for 3 wks!
wk 4 - 12st 9 ( - 4)
wk 5 - 12 st 8 (- 1)

Total loss - 13 lbs

Think I just feel disappointed it’s not faster - I’ve been hovering around 12st 7 all week so was sad it’s come up today. Wondering if I should have gone up to 5mg this week instead of staying on 2.5. Please can someone say reassuring and sensible things.

Also I’m not calorie counting because it drives me mad but I’ve dieted before (many times) and I’m sure I’m in a deficit.

I think im the same as you - two days ago took my 6th jab. I am still on 2.5. I have lost 12 pounds so far and I’m so happy with that

I don’t count calories either. I know I’m eating healthy food so that’s good enough for me

Has anyone noticed that they maintain/put on weight around ovulation? I know I temporarily gain about half a stone before my period, but noticed similar this week mid cycle

Yes, I ovulated last sunday according to my app and my weight jumped up from the Saturday until Tuesday and starting dropping back down from Wednesday (this week)! So I technically have stayed the same weight since last weeks weigh in. Hoping to start dropping again, though my periods due in 8 days and I usually see some increase on the scales around then too.

Because I took my bonus dose early my new dose day is Tuesday, received my 5mg pen today and mulling over using 3.75 instead..

Yeah I find it worrying the amount of people on Facebook who lose a stone in 3 weeks then complain cos they're not losing quicker...

I completely understand your points (in this and later posts) and agree, but I think it’s important to keep in mind the desperation that many overweight people feel (especially when their self esteem is so tied to their weight - as mine is, unfortunately!), and that number dropping on the scale directly impacts their feelings about themselves as well as their motivation and feeling of accomplishment.

Don’t get me wrong, I agree that it’s not a magic fix and the work needs to be put in, and if it’s not then those people are likely to gain back as soon as the medication stops.

I guess what I’m saying is try and have some empathy for those people (apologies, im
not trying to insult you or assume that you don’t have empathy, I’m just speaking as one of the people who puts a lot of importance on the number on the scale, even when I know it shouldn’t really be my focus), rather than thinking terribly of them for wanting to see the big changes fast. I too want to see those big changes and find it hard to see other people losing a lot more. I do try to reason with myself, and reassure myself that things are going in the right direction etc. But sometimes it still
hard not to feel upset that I’m not doing as well as others (comparison is the thief of joy!), and some people will be vocal about that, or alternatively be vocal about getting those big losses because they want to share and perhaps seek external validation.

Yes, it's very normal - it's because oestrogen causes water retention. If you look at a graph of how oestrogen fluctuates over a month, your weight, all other things equal, will follow it.

Still annoying though! I have short cycles (24 / 25 days), so half the month I'm bloated either due to pms or ovulation 🙄

I have a short cycle too, in a (what seems like) world full of long cycled ladies it’s nice to meet another shortie!

saxonyv · 10/05/2025 06:20

End of the 6th week for me, took Jab 7 last night, I have stayed on 2.5mg partly because this is still working for me but also because I was so worried about 5mg and the SE as I have a physical job and couldn’t face the thought of nausea (and don’t get chance for many toilet breaks!!)

Anyway, here are my losses so far, I’m really pleased, hoping to lose at least 2lbs this week as that will put me safely into the 12 stone bracket 😃

Start 200 lbs

Wk 1 - 7lb
Wk 2 - 3lb
Wk 3 - 1.5lb
Wk 4 - 1lb
Wk 5 - 1.25lb
Wk 6 - 3lb

saxonyv · 10/05/2025 06:26

if anyone hasn’t taken measurements I highly recommend, I can see I’ve lost weight around my middle and face but I always struggle with my lower half and it doesn’t look like I’ve lost there but after measuring it’s reassuring to see I have!
(All taken in Cm, I measure my thighs in 2 places as I have ham joint style legs!)

Week 1
Arms 34/35
Bust 101
Under bust. 88
Waist 85
Hips 123
Bum 120
Thighs. 72/60 72/60
Calves. 41/41

Week 6
Arms 32.5/33
Bust 95
Under bust 85
Waist 80
Hips 115
Bum 114
Thighs 66.5/54 68/56.6

It's not lack of empathy, it's more just concern that a lot of people don't seem to have done any research at all into this fairly serious medication and who think it'll just miraculously melt fat off without any effort. I'm also one of the lucky ones who doesn't get sucked into competitive weight loss, everyone takes their own path but some folk get disappointed if they "only" lose 1lb a week

PinkCatInATree · 10/05/2025 07:25

Frankly it matters not a jot to me how much other people lose, I am doing this for me and for my family not for them. I am delighted for each of you and for your losses, same as I am delighted for mine. I have half a body weight to go which has taken a significant number of years to pile on so it won't go in days - it's not worth comparing me with anyone else, it's my story.
What I do enjoy is hints and tips from you all, celebrating positive changes you / we have made, the reminder to drink water, and somewhere safe to read / talk about MJ when only my husband knows in the real world. And perhaps the Postie who brings it!

So well said! I’m a slow weight loss gal and it can be discouraging especially knowing there is no benefit to losing slowly like people assume. Scientifically it make no difference to how well you maintain it whether you lose it quick or slow. But it is what it is and I just gotta be patient!

Zireael · 10/05/2025 07:45

Good morning everyone, it’s taken me over a week to catch up on the thread/s they move so fast! It’s been great hearing about everyone’s achievements and how positive you are all feeling.

Appreciate we are all different and each of us will have our own reasons for sharing (or not) our WLI journeys. I work in a GP surgery and have been very open about it, my colleagues, including clinicians, have been very supportive and encouraging. I have also been telling some friends who have been interested and non judgmental which I am grateful for.

I’ve also ordered an injection pack which includes 10 Each of syringes, drawing-up needles, injecting-needles and swabs. Cost me less than £10 before p&p. Next Thursday will be my first attempt at the golden dose from my 2.5 pen and I’m aiming to get a 3.75 dose to bridge the gap before starting 5mg.

I ordered my 5mg pen in good time and Pharmacy2U questioned me about why I was ordering early. I just explained that I was concerned about the bank holidays affecting delivery and not wanting to mess up my schedule and they put it through no problem.

SunnySpellsAhead · 10/05/2025 08:23

Start wt: 16st 8lb
Current wt: 15st 8lb
2.5mg, 7th jab yesterday.

The threads do move fast, so interesting and supportive - well done to all the fasties and slowies. Guess I'm 'slow', just lost 0.4lb on my lowest avg weekly cals of 1162 (TDEE is 1334 at mo but wasn't hungry at all this week)...but I've lost a stone now in 6 weeks, which is flippin' well fast by my normal standards.

I'm counting cals for now as I'm really trying to learn from this journey, small portion sizes are a revelation! I've got 5mg pens on order for next few months but will probably stay on a 2.5mg dose. Been checking out Dr Emma Anders (ex GP) MJ journey on YouTube, she lost loads on 2.5mg only but she's a good advocate for sensibility and following your own path. Ultimately, we all just need to tune in to what our bodies are telling us as individuals, and trust the process. Thankfully, for most of us here it's working!!

Dobbysdad · 10/05/2025 09:25

Morning all, I'm off to catch up on the posts on this thread in a moment, it moves so fast!
Weigh in today, end of week 4. -1.6lbs which is the least amount I've lost in a week so of course I'd have preferred it to be more but it's till a loss! Losing over 1.4lbs this week will take me to under 20st which is my aim for this week. Starting weight was 21st 5.2.-17.8lbs total. I'm moving up to 5mg today, I'm nervous about potential side effects!

Lardybumbum · 10/05/2025 09:41

So midweek I’d lost 4lb but by today my jab/official weigh in day is gained 2 of those back. So I’d lost a stone on Wednesday but not anymore 😭

SW : 216.8lb
TW: 160lb
CW: 205.4lb
loss :11.4lb

I’m moving up to 5 next week and a bit anxious about side effects. Has anyone who had fairly mild side effects, mostly feeling queasy on 2.5 been side effect free or at least not worse at 5?

I went up to 3.75mg for 5 weeks before going up to 5mg. I only went up when it felt like the effects were waning a bit. I never got above 5mg as that continued to work well to get me to target.

If you get a 5mg pen 3.75 is 45 clicks

Potato1234 · 10/05/2025 10:24

Good morning Saturday weighers! It’s been 5 weeks for me now. After thinking I’d gained this week I’ve actually lost 2lbs! So that is a total of 22lbs lost. My BMI has gone from 48.3 to 44.2 - still a long way to go but moving in the right direction. I’ve also noticed I’m happier being in photos now which is something I used to avoid. Have a great weekend everyone

SquishyQuokka · 10/05/2025 11:00

I’m a little out of synch and catching up on this thread! I started Mounjaro on 10 April. I did the 2.5mg for 4 weeks with limited side effects - mostly heartburn in the few days leading up to the next jab.

I took the leap and moved to 5mg on 08 May - I felt a bit icky yesterday, but otherwise so far ok. I certainly had appetite suppression on 2.5mg which did wear off, but 5mg is something else and I’m having to physically remember to eat, but need very small portions at a time!

I seem to have been quite steady in terms of losses after the first week. And even when I have a smaller loss, I’m at least going down :) first time below 75kg since I don’t know when 🎉

SW: 79.9kg
CW: 74.6kg
Lost: 5.3kg

Weekly Losses…
W1: -2.7kg
W2: -1.1 kg
W3: -0.1kg
W4: -1kg
W5: -0.4kg (so far)

I also do Noom alongside this, and so have got into the habit of weighing every day (to try to suppress the fear of the scales) - it’s pretty interesting seeing how weight fluctuates over the course of a week!

StrikeForever · 10/05/2025 11:54

@fox919 I hear you, but we are all very invested in the number on the scale. The issue raised (kindly I think) was the completely unrealistic expectations e.g. someone being disappointed that they had “only lost 13lbs in 5 weeks”!

NotsosunnyShropshire · 10/05/2025 12:18

I put on a pound this week which is a little disappointing. I took 3.75mg for my 4th dose and my first 5mg dose on Thursday.

I definitely haven’t drunk nearly enough fluid, but it’s near impossible when I’m at work.

Felt a little dizzy again yesterday morning and had only one or two episodes of constipation which is surprising for me as I normally have the other issue with my IBD.

Musermum · 10/05/2025 12:27

Saturday weigher and jabber here too. After losing nothing last week I'm down 2lbs this week and a long way to go. Been eating much less although feeling the food noise more in the evenings. Starting 5ml this evening 😬 So 11lbs in 4 weeks, including an unexpected period. Well done to everyone.
