Really pleased you are getting on with 5mg @wordywitch with no SE.

I have a dry mouth too! Makes drinking enough water easy though, because I always feel I am thirsty. It's getting in enough protein with the small portions, which is proving a challenge...

My husband has now joined in. Just had his first pen delivered 🙂

NotsosunnyShropshire · 08/05/2025 19:37

Just taken my 5th jab. My first 5mg. I’ll weigh myself later after I’ve had a shower.
I had planned on taking another 3.75 but miscounted the clicks. Hopefully any side effects won’t be too harsh.

Aw! I told my husband that he should try it too as he’s worried about his weight. He said we can’t afford for both of us to be on it bless him. The pharmacies should do a family discount 😆

They should 😂 My husband is more concerned about the cost than I am too. I convinced him that it’s an investment in our health and that he’ll save money on food!

Potato1234 · 08/05/2025 19:50

What’s everyone doing instead of eating? Seriously my life resolves so much around food and I didn’t even realise. We’d go out a couple of times a week for lunch or tea. It was exciting and I looked forward to it. Or I loved nothing more than to get in my pjs and watch tv after a long day with a nice treat. I’ve been trying to do non-food activities e.g. going to baby classes, going for walks - I mean even those activities would usually involve a coffee or a pub lunch at the end of it… I feel a bit lost!

Yes the money he would save would balance it for sure. My husband eats huge portions. I think domino’s would go bust if he started on MJ

Doidontimmm · 08/05/2025 19:59

Ever wished you had not told people you are on it. My friend is driving me nuts going on & in about risks, no long term trials, it causing pancreatitis, I will put it all back in when I stop…. etc etc. I really want to say she is jealous as she says she can’t afford it so is putting it down.

Potato1234 · 08/05/2025 20:05

@Doidontimmm sounds like jealously to me, is she overweight? This is why only my husband knows. Can’t be bothered with the lectures from people who think they can tell you what to do with your own body.

Doidontimmm · 08/05/2025 20:08

She is overweight yes and struggling to lose anything

Crikeyalmighty · 08/05/2025 20:15

@Potato1234 ah I get you - I’m normally a breakfast out person several times a week - be it a tiastie or a sausage bap or scrambled eggs on toast etc - I like cafe life more than meals out at night - as does my H - I’m giving it a miss though at the moment , apart from just the odd coffee or green tea- same on a Saturday, usually pick up nice near at our farm shop with coffee and their rather nice flapjacks or cheese scones- avoiding that too - yep it’s chopped out a fair bit of my lifestyle!! We don’t have kids at home either to ‘divert’ onto

SausageRoll90 · 08/05/2025 20:16

Argh guys it's weigh day tomorrow and I've had a major food slip. Instead of eating a meal tonight I ended up eating half an Easter egg (one of those big ones with fruit and nuts in the shell), a whole pack of oat crackers (with primula cheese on half the pack and peanut butter on the other half)... I didn't really enjoy it I just ate it, I feel too full and as it was also rich I've also had to rush to the loo twice since 🙈🙈🙈

I've had good suppression today but then I just suddenly had all the cravings and I was home alone and I couldn't stop. Wasn't a nice feeling and I don't feel good for it now. I'm annoyed at myself.

Yeah you’re right… it is a lifestyle! So it’s a lifestyle change. I need to think of things to do that I find fulfilling that don’t involve food. It will be changing a habit of a lifetime though

Don’t beat yourself up, it’s done now and the way you feel you probably won’t do it again. But maybe as you said you have had good suppression today maybe you haven’t eaten enough to keep you going today/this week. If it’s weigh day tomorrow (same for me) you are probably due your next jab as well and it’s normal for the suppression to wear off near the next dose time. Maybe just try to have some “healthy” snacks around for when this happens again!!

but like I say dont beat yourself up, I’ve also had half an Easter egg tonight, and I had dinner ok it was a homemade vegetable savoury rice but I was being lazy and just chucked some chicken dippers in the air fryer to go with it. It’s ok to still eat we need to we just need to learn to listen to our body’s and train our body’s to want other things but it’s not an instant thing!!

Wk 4 weigh in & I've disappointingly only lost 1lb this week. Didn't come as a surprise as I've been completely bloated. I know how good I'm being so hopefully I will see my hard work reflected next week.
Well done to everyone on their losses, what a great bunch!!!!!

Maybe just tell her that you have heard her concerns, but she has to stop saying this stuff now and you don’t want to discuss it with her anymore!

Mine was 10 days and heavy too. My GP hadn't heard of any link between GLP1s and post meno bleeding so has referred me for an urgent scan. Just when you think your body is becoming less complicated... I'll keep you updated.

Just done a bit of research looks like the British Meno Society recommend either an IUD is fitted or prog oral dose is doubled for 4 weeks - but looks like need to go through the scan process as well / first?

I only eat twice a day- either berries and 5% Greek yoghurt at about 11.30 or a good porridge pot ( I like Wolfs) with a banana and a small handful of almonds - or a protein drink like M&S s chocolate milk ( which is delicious) or. 5 cheese oatcakes and hummus or baba ganoush and a few cherry tomatoes - then take my appetite suppressors half an hour or so before evening meal ( do give me slight tummy ache for about 20 minutes) but that’s it - and eat a normal meal but not huge quantities in an evening about 7pm - I try and make it protein heavy and just salad or veg - little carbs. Stuff like marinated fresh salmon with Asian slaw and rocket and tomatoes

if you do come off it the herbal tablets are around £39 a month and for me just take the edge off feeling hungry - they have a GLP1 element to them as it’s berberin so I do still get the burping occasionally and that ‘full’ kind of feel - worth a try at that price if needed. I like the fact I can take as and when - don’t get me wrong if you don’t get side effects and have problems with snacking and food noise I can see MJ really does the trick but I’m clearly just one who does get them even on 2.5 - ok it’s only 3 days a week but after5 weeks I’m still getting them and I know myself enough to know I can do it without - just need to keep it up for about 7 months!!

Please could you post a link to the tablets - thanks.

Gosh, that's interesting. At least it's starting to be recognised by official channels! I'm not on HRT (other than vaginal oestrogen) but it's useful to know that it can affect the absorption of other oral medications, of which I am on many. We are still very much in the guinea pig stage aren't we?

Not sure which particular brand @Crikeyalmighty uses, but you can buy Berberine supplements at places like Holland & Barratt

Tell her diabetics have been using it for 20+ years.

Incognitoburrito88 · 09/05/2025 07:15

Hi everyone - it’s my official weigh in today although I’m a daily weigher - please could someone look at my numbers and provide reassurance!

SW 13st 7

wk 3 - 12 st 13 ( - 8lb) - on holiday so didn’t weigh for 3 wks!
wk 4 - 12st 9 ( - 4)
wk 5 - 12 st 8 (- 1)

Total loss - 13 lbs

Think I just feel disappointed it’s not faster - I’ve been hovering around 12st 7 all week so was sad it’s come up today. Wondering if I should have gone up to 5mg this week instead of staying on 2.5. Please can someone say reassuring and sensible things.

Also I’m not calorie counting because it drives me mad but I’ve dieted before (many times) and I’m sure I’m in a deficit.

Lundier · 09/05/2025 07:23

A pound of fat is ~3500 calories, as I'm sure you know!

13 pounds in 5 weeks is a deficit of 45,500 calories. To lose that on a 'perfect' diet, a daily 500 calorie deficit, would take 91 days, and you'd be starving the whole time. You've done it in 35 days, or 1/3 of the time. That's pretty fast.
