I’m on my third week of MJ.
I’ve lost 13lbs in that time, mostly from my face. I’m now worrying I’m going to lose weight only from my face and look like a chubby skeleton. I have lipodema and it’s quite bad in my upper arms and knees.

anyone else with lipodema notice any changes in their lipo areas?

Undiagnosed but I’ve definitely got some fatty nodules in my calves and thighs.
I’m 6 weeks in, I only seemed to lose weight in my face at first but about a fortnight ago I noticed my saddlebags were going down and the nodules on my thighs didn’t look quite so severe, so it is making a difference.
Somebody else said about the weight coming off in the order it went on and so far for me that’s been true, I’ve always been bigger in my bottom half and that appears to be where I’m losing the least amount of weight whereas I’ve seen significant loss in my top half.

I would suggest measuring to everyone, especially if you don’t weigh often, the weeks I’ve lost less it has been really encouraging to measure and see how many inches I’m losing all over!

The heartburn is reasonably easy to handle. I think it's the mj, but I'm also not sure if my stomach hurts because of the lack of food/hunger or because it's shocked when I do eat something!
I'm probably exisiting living on about 100 cals including the milk in a couple of cups of tea a day. I'm usually a tea and latte drinker and I'm forcing the tea down for a few extra calories 😆 my new favourite drink is blackcurrant squash 🤨
What are you having in the evening to eat? How are you managing breakfast? Can you get it down? x

I had the stomach pains in the first few weeks, but usually when I hadn’t eaten as the suppression was high, but when I forced myself to eat something I felt better, it is hard though, at that point even the thought of food was turning my stomach!

There’s a PT on Facebook who does lots of really informative videos about weight loss and specifically GLP1s, he does obviously promote his app and plans but you can watch the videos without signing up - Team RH

@Pepperwaggytail that's a great start, well done!!

I'm sure you are already, but make sure you're drinking LOADS of water, if you are headachy. More than you think you need. It could be dehydration from water weight loss, rather than the MJ itself, especially at the beginning.

First 5mg jab done this morning!! Anxiously waiting to see if i get the dreaded side effects 😬😬

SquishyGloopyBum · 08/05/2025 09:35

👋 to the Thursday crew!

3lbs off this week - yay! 1 stone off as well, I can’t quite believe it. I’m feeling so much happier for it. Minimal side effects. Even had pizza and wine on Saturday.

I have taken the extra dose today from my pen. I did order 5mg as my next pen but I think I’m just going to half it and stay on 2.5 as I’m loosing well.

10/4 SW 13st 1lb
17/4 Wk1 (2.5) - 5lbs 12st 8.9lbs
24/4 WK2 (2.5) - 2.9lbs 12st 6lbs
1/5 WK3 (2.5) - 2.3lbs. 12st 3.7lbs
8/5 WK4 (2.5 bonus dose)- 3lbs. 12st 0.7lbs
GW 10st 10lbs

@saxonyv it is indeed though the truth - the injections are ‘an aid’ to help you with that - I lost 2 stone 4 about 18 months ago using herbal GLP1 appetite suppressants ( tablets) - they were an aid to make me want to eat less - still had to do the 1100 calories a day stuff to actually shift that . WLI are no different - it’s not melting fat away by carrying on exactly as before -

@Crikeyalmighty What the the appetite suppressant tablets called? did you get similar side effects?

Crikeyalmighty · 08/05/2025 10:51

I am on sensilab GLP1 as made in EU - but there are lots of different ones around that are berberin based. They don’t suit everyone depending on circumstances but do suit me- side effects? I get niggly tummy ache for around half an hour about an hour after taking them and I feel kind of ‘full’ all the time on days I take them and still get a bit of the burping thing - but far less. I don’t however get digestive issues or nausea which I do on MJ. I also don’t lose appetite as such, I simply feel full much quicker than I would without them and find it easy to stick to 1200 cals or just under . However this is only on the days I take them so last time I did this I tended to take just in the week and skipped them at weekends or if I had a client day or a long journey or holidays etc - a lady on another post said she struggled with them as had IBS and they made it worse, but I don’t have that. I guess we are all different but for me I got the same results with less side effects and the ability to switch it on/off - but then I dont really have constant food noise and am not really a snacker.

again you need to drink plenty of water on them -

Galadali · 08/05/2025 11:53

Well I'm definitely losing weight from my fingers as my wedding ring fell off in Aldi today while I was packing the shopping. Fortunately I found it in one of the bags when I got home - phew!
In other news, I went to the GP today about the post-meno bleeding and she was really interested in my MJ progress. She was nothing but positive about it and to definitely keep on it as long as possible. I was dreading her telling me I'd have to come off it.

Squiffy01 · 08/05/2025 13:14

Hi to all other Thursday weighers and jabbers 👋🏻

Took golden dose of my first pen (which was a 5mg pen) and got out 0.72 was hoping for a bit more but happy that I got anything out!

Weighed in this morning and loft 2.2lbs which I’m not thrilled with as could definitely do that in a week without the expensive jab but I guess I wouldn’t keep sticking to it if I was doing it on my own.

Week 1: didn’t weigh as was on holiday
Week 2: lost 11.9 lbs
Week 3: didn’t way as was still on holiday
Week 4: lost 4.4lbs
Week 5: lost 2.2lbs

So about 18.5lbs down?
I still can not tell one bit that I’ve lost anything at all but I’m hoping that will come soon.

Are you able to say what your GP advice was for the post meno bleeding? I had a heavy 10 day bleed at WK4 - saw my GP who has sent me for a scan - no bleeding for a week - but it has started again and much heavier. I already have endometrial hyperplasia (normal cells thankfully 12mm when it should be less that 4mm) which needs protecting from the oestrogen in HRT with progesterone but it seems MJ is preventing absorption and I am now 6 weeks exposed.

Mine was 10 days and heavy too. My GP hadn't heard of any link between GLP1s and post meno bleeding so has referred me for an urgent scan. Just when you think your body is becoming less complicated... I'll keep you updated.

Same as my situation then! I am still waiting for that urgent scan appointment. I have had 2 in the past each followed by hysteroscopy and biopsy - all clear - and quite recent so I am not concerned of anything sinister but just need the prog sorted.

Try not to be hard on yourself, 2.2lb is a great loss and in context, in 5 weeks you have lost over 18lbs even with going on holidays. That’s brilliant!

Wonderfulstuff · 08/05/2025 16:52

Some amazing loses here and NSVs! Well done everyone!🌟

I did my 4th dose from my 2.5 pen last night and have come in with 17lbs lost in my first four weeks. Genuinely shocked at how the WLI is helping me to make better choices for myself. I was in such a mess with my eating before starting that it's great to feel so much more in control.

As for the next 4 weeks, I persuaded the pharmacist to let me stick with 2.5ml for my next pen (I have f2f appts with my current provider). Hopefully it will continue to work well as I'm comfortable with the 'just enough' level of suppression I've been getting. Seems like a fair trade off for the minimal SE. The weight loss has steadied but would love to get to 1.5 stone off on this pen - ideally before I go away for half term!

Yes drinking loads of water. Today is the first time I’ve just felt a bit off, slightly headachy and sicky/ burpy. I’m fine now though, but no appetite whatsoever so i probably need to make sure im eating something earlier in the day.

Day 2 of my first 5mg jab and I’ve got strong suppression but no side effects apart from a slight headache. Had to force myself to eat a few lettuce leaves, a bit of chicken and a boiled egg for lunch. Doubt I’ll eat much dinner. Trying to keep my water intake up though.

Does anyone else find they have a dry mouth since starting MJ?

Squiffy01 · 08/05/2025 17:35

@wordywitch yes to dry mouth!!!

What would everyone’s definition be of ‘food noise’ I can’t decide if mine is gone or not 🤣

I stopped at Gail’s on the way home from therapy today thinking I wanted a brownie. Was a bit disappointed in myself and also thought it’s a bit strange as haven’t craved anything chocolatey since starting, have eaten it but not craved it like I used to so was worried it had stopped working.
But I took one bite and decided I didn’t want anymore very strange.

Mouth is dryer than the Sahara! With a weird taste. And DC7 has been very kind to point out my breath stinks too. Which is great 🙃Constantly cleaning my teeth so maybe an extra bonus of WLI is going to be excellent oral hygiene too!

Checking back in - W6 D3 on my second dose of 5

My body seems to have gotten used to the doses now and 5 seems to be a happy dose for me. SE have settled down (particularly the “air” in the throat). Still tired but not as much as before and cold as usual but my body just seems content. Not sure how to describe it but it feels more normal than when I first started

so hoping for those who are worried about stepping up etc, your body will tell you when it’s “comfortable” with the doses. I’ve never struggled with exercise, only diet and food and this has been enlightening on what it does to support good eating.

my mind is wondering what I want to do now when I reach where I want to be
