Well I am delighted - after a depressing and frustrating 3 week plateau - I have lost 1lb per day for the last 3 days - after moving up for 5mg.

Brilliant! That gives me hope. I'm moving up to 5mg tomorrow after last week's tiddly golden dose.

iamsoshocked · 03/05/2025 11:35

Update on SE after my first 5mg jab..
After an awful day yesterday (jabbed on Thursday evening) I woke up feeling fine today, no nausea or anything. So I'm hoping to be able to actually eat something today!

Musermum · 03/05/2025 11:37

Weigh day and 4th jab today. Disappointed I haven't lost anything this week as my suppression has been really good and, apart from being out for dinner last night (half a burger and a few chips) have been eating lots of protein and no sweets or chocolate (and I love sweets). But maybe just a plateau and 5ml is arriving today for next week. Feeling better though (apart from the weird period which had now ended) and my strained ligament in my knee is so much less painful.... So there's that!

Pandimoanymum · 03/05/2025 11:59

Start of 5th week today, due to give myself first 5mg jab.
Just weighed and have lost a total of 10lb, which is great considering I barely lost anything the first two weeks. Didn't have noticeable appetite suppression on 2.5mg either.
I did give myself 3.75mg last week as a step towards 5mg. Not sure whether to go for the full 5mg today, or stay at 3.75mg, as I did have some unpleasant nausea for several days and some constipation.
Also, on thursday I started getting very burpy-like, literally burping every couple of minutes all day. I was on a day out with my sister and she commented on it, even though I was being very discreet about it! And then in the afternoon diarrhoea started, and went on all evening, all night (I barely slept!) and most of yesterday.I had to cancel commitements yesterday as couldn't be far from the bathroom, yet I didn't feel ill and had no stomach cramps, which is unusual if it was a bug. Just a lot of "bubbling cauldron" sensations and sounds from my stomach. The burping also carried on, but everything has eased off now.
I don't know if this sounds more like a stomach bug or Mounjaro side effects? If it was side effects, why didn't I get it until only 2 days before the next jab was due? It's made me a bit scared to do my next jab, as I can't be cancelling things every week to stay near the bathroom. Plus, the "ring of fire" was very unpleasant!

I have had less SE on 5mg than on 2.5 which were only feeling briefly cold and tired and sulpher burps one afteroon. So SE for me were transient as body adapted. Main issue for me was the heavy post meno period on week 4 which probs explains my weight plateau (non thankfully resolved).

NotsosunnyShropshire · 03/05/2025 12:07

Took my 4th jab on Thursday but topped it up to 3.75mg as my next pen is 5mg.
weighed myself on jab night (Thursdays) and I had gained half a lb. Weighed myself today and my total weightloss so far is now 1 stone and 1/2lb.

woop!!

Whattodonow6322 · 03/05/2025 12:07

Would I be able to buy it privately? I am 5ft 5 & 11 st 10 so bmi is 27.3. No health conditions but I can’t shift any weight since hitting the menopause. If so, where is best to buy it? Thanks

StrikeForever · 03/05/2025 12:16

lovechocolate · 03/05/2025 10:28

@Summerbay23 yes, I had read somewhere here that you could do that. I almost gave up as it was hard to twist but then it worked. Hold on to the whole part that comes out and twist it really hard.

I must be missing something, as I don’t understand what this action was for 🤷‍♀️

I don’t think so, with a BMI of 27 you’d need to have a weight-related health condition to be eligible

TC4 · 03/05/2025 12:35

So the morning following my first 5mg dose and all seems to be good so far, just the usual funny feeling/taste in my mouth but I really need to work on my hydration so that would probably help with that

SurreyGirl69 · 03/05/2025 09:34

Pull back the plunger of the empty syringe to the volume marker you want to extract, before you insert the needle into the barrel. Keep the tip of the needle in the liquid and use a 'push-pull' technique to gradually exchange air for liquid. Once you have the volume you need, stay inside the barrel but move the tip of the needle out of the liquid, up into the air gap, pull back a bit of air. Withdraw needle , change needle if you are going to, and carefully push up plunger until you see a small drip, to prime your needle, check volume is what you wanted , then - bobs your uncle - inject!

That’s brilliant! Thank you so much! 💕

GieYerselPeace · 03/05/2025 12:45

End of week 5 for me and I've lost.... 0lb. Is there such a thing as the 5 week plateau? I'm clutching at straws. Lost 12lb in total which is way more than I could have without Mounjaro so trying to stay positive.

WinterOnItsWayOut · 03/05/2025 12:48

Re weight trends - here is mine over 11 years 🙈. I keep gaining and losing the same 2 stone……
Really need to work out how to keep it stable post MJ! This shows an average of 11.9 and currently 11.11 so once I go below 11.9 that will be ‘below average’ which will feel good 👍

0lb overall, or just this week?

Ah sorry I wasn't clear, 0lb this week. Lost 12lbs in weeks 1-4.

A plateau is at least 4 weeks 😁.

GieYerselPeace · 03/05/2025 13:51

Oh dear lol. Being too impatient I think.

Iwouldratherbemuckingout · 03/05/2025 13:52

Just checking in (late to the April starters threads)! I’m week 4 day 1 but last week me and DH went on holiday. He couldn’t believe the difference in me in terms of just being really chilled about food, happy with a late brunch and dinner and no snacking. Not a single ice cream! He opened a big box of maltesers and I had maybe 3 or 4. I’ve not got on the scales yet but I haven’t got that heavy feeling just a bit bloated from increased alcohol but that will go today.
I lost 6.2 lbs in first 2 weeks which I’m so happy with. 16 to go!
it’s an absolute revelation to me.

StrikeForever · 03/05/2025 14:19

After increasing to 3.75 yesterday, I seem to be experiencing my first side effects. My tummy is bloated and feels gassy and a little bit ‘painy’. I feel tired and generally out of sorts. Hopefully, it will pass soon. I envisage I’ll get side effects next week when I go on 5ml!

Incognitoburrito88 · 03/05/2025 14:23

Urgh - sometimes I think I shouldn’t weigh every day! I had inexplicably gained a pound this morning. After inexplicably gaining a pound the day before. I had a very salty dinner last night and I wonder if that might be it. Of course it started a spiral of worry that maybe this isn’t working for me and I should have ordered a 5mg pen instead of another 2.5mg.

what it didn’t do though is send me into an eating spiral which is what may well have happened in the past. I had my planned breakfast, went for a run and will just keep plodding along hoping the scales will catch up with me at some point. I don’t normally pay much attention to my cycle but my period is due in the next couple of days and I’ve definitely got PMT so guess it could be related.

Oooh, frustrating but I wouldn't worry yet then! Could be anything - water retention from exercising, or hormonal. I always gain a bit when I ovulate as well as before period, whoch people often don't talk about🙄

You have explained your small weight gain in this post a bit of salty food (salt holds/attracts water) and PMT so don’t beat yourself up!! I don’t know if you saw my post about if you weigh daily maybe log your weights in an app that gives you a weekly average as you will see that in a downward trend even with little fluctuations

I did thank you and I starting using happyscale again after seeing it! Of course I’ve gained a stone since I last used it so it’s not helping much yet!!!!

Yeah I've been really fatigued today and feeling bloated too and I also did 3.75mg yesterday. I'm glad I've taken an in-between step but I will still take the full 5mg next week lol. Glutton for punishment maybe haha

SausageRoll90 · 02/05/2025 22:24

@fourapples don't worry that you've gone straight up - I planned to do the same but decided to use part of the golden dose to top up my 4th and final 2.5mg because I felt the suppression wasn't enough on 2.5mg so I'll be 100% doing 5mg on week 5 next week.

You're also not alone in the struggle with dinner for the family. We usually do a menu for the week which is basically me who comes up with food ideas and do the big food shop each week. Although we do take it in turns to cook it's been hard because I don't fancy anything ever so I've not done a menu plan or big food shop for about 2 weeks now and it's not been ideal. I'm guna force myself to make a menu over the weekend because I always so better when I've planned even if I don't fancy it. It's definitely hard tho.

I cook exactly the same meals as I always have, but I just eat much smaller portions.
