New thread for all of us.

Thank you for allowing me to rant, share our ups and downs. Our group blows my mind of how we are so supportive of each other.

@TheBossOfMe It is wonderful! Strange though, doesn't look like me if that makes sense.
Well done for staying strong and finding that necessary willpower!

@Bipaloss Yes, exactly! My brain is almost thinking "is that really me?" I know that sounds weird though. I think you're right in saying, because the weight loss has been fairly quick, our brains haven't quite caught up or adjusted to our new bodies. This is the most weight I have ever lost in my life and when i have lost smaller amounts of weight in the past, its taken me a LONG time to do it!
MJ is life changing.

IngoGreen · 09/05/2025 15:01

@soupforbrains enjoying you scaring off a sneaky weight gain with a tantrum. Good effort.

@Amjam2025 and @Bipaloss agree with the weirdness in the mirror, brain is catching up slowly. Also noticed a leg muscle yesterday I didn’t know I had.

Also noticing inevitable crepey age lines that were full & plump before, but also my skin is so soft, I keep stroking it. Who knew the much, much better diet, loads more exercise, collagen, more water, healthier gut, better sleep, and much less sugar would make me glow 😉

Amjam2025 · 09/05/2025 15:02

@Bipaloss Forgot to say on my last message...That's fabulous, isn't it great when we're looking good, feeling good and other people saying nice things :)

Amjam2025 · 09/05/2025 15:04

@IngoGreen that made me laugh about the leg muscle! My collar bones have popped out to say hello too!

Flamethrowers · 09/05/2025 15:06

Oh my god. Crepey neck.
and for the first time in my life -
crepey stomach
a woman in a shop I haven't seen for a long time just said you've lost so much weight
I'm not sure if she was thinking i look like a crinkled piece of tissue paper
Polo necks from now on

Flamethrowers · 09/05/2025 15:29

Also I agree the speed is disconcerting. I've lost 17 pounds in the time it would normally take me to loose seven or eight and my mind hasn't caught up. I fit into my size fourteen dresses easily now. I bought a size twelve top yesterday and the size 14 swimming costumes all fit. When I wear my size 16 trousers the fall down over my hips. But I don't feel that much thinner. I do feel stronger from the running working out and Pilates but I can't see that I look different. All I can really see is The Crepe.

TheSpoonyNavyReader · 09/05/2025 15:30

Good morning all,

Well done to all those losing weight and feeling good.

@TryingMJ our weight loss journey seems identical. Starting weight nearly the same and losses are the same.

I also feel the same when I look in the mirror I can not see the weight loss, but I did notice one thing my boobs now sit better and the side fat has reduced to the point you can see definition in my boobs instead of just a shelf from round my back. They are still perky and high thanks to the hands of my surgeon 5 years ago!

It’s weigh day for me and I have to say I am f&£king upset that I have lost a pound. I actually had a cry today, it’s 2 weeks until my son gets married and I was hoping to be closer to 10 and a half stone.

I think it was because I have not eaten a lot but I have been drinking 3 litres of water everyday.

Week 10
SW 13st 4lbs
CW 10st 13lbs
TW 9st 7lbs would like to get to 9st

It’s nice to see a new stone bracket of 10s it’s been at least 3 years since my weight started with a 10

great NSV OP

don’t beat yourself up you did have a loss and almost 2.5 st in 10 weeks is huge! well done

the journey is not linear and after small losses or plateau another bigger loss will come

no matter what you will weigh at the wedding I’m sure you will look great ☺️

And for the earlier discussion a re thyroid medications - I just retested after loosing the 17 pounds and I have been pushed into hypothyroid and need to reduce my dose
So if you are in thyroxine I suggest you retest if you've lost weight. And retest again if you loose more.

Also worth having a review of HRT if you’re on oral progesterone as new study shows the absorption can be affected by GLPs slowing if digestion, there’s a thread somewhere on MN about this.

Oh thanks. I'm on combined patches so don't know if that makes a difference. It does all feel a bit chaotic in my body at the moment!

also I meant I've been pushed into hyperthyroidism (too much) not hypo (too little)

I was tested last week and my level are exactly the same. Same dose as always you have to be careful because of the digestion slowing down means that you may not have the same absorption rate.

Thank you so much, your words have made me think I have lost 33lbs in 10 weeks which is mind blowing.

I know I am putting pressure on myself about the wedding but I know those photos will be around for ever and I don’t want to look back and think I look gross.

Edited

Should be ok with progesterone if you are already having that as a combined patch and not oral, some recommendations to switch to patch from oral, so that’s what I’m going to ask about with GP

I had a test a couple of weeks ago, my dose had gone up so had to retest after 3 months on the new dose. Levels were as expected, I've lost 25lbs, so I wonder at what stage to test again?

@Overjiggly snap, my OH is 6ft 4 and lighter than me 😭

Also snap @Overjiggly and @Illbefinejustbloodyfine . DH is a foot taller than me and about a stone less 😱 he's got a 38 inch waist mines 44 😔

SmallSoupcon · 09/05/2025 19:36

Overjiggly · 09/05/2025 08:37

@Illbefinejustbloodyfine thank you 😊

To my shame my 6ft 2 husband weighs less than me (not by much now) and that's another mini goal of mine!

My husband has weighed less than me since I had kids. He's half an inch taller. A real NSV would be to be smaller than him once more!

Fatmumslim01 · 09/05/2025 19:38

Question...how much have we spent so far on the jabs. I've worked out I've spent £460 since mid march. That's 3 pens (one 2.5 and 2 x 5mg) plus syringes and needles for 10 golden doses.

That's alot of money!

And I estimate I'll need them for at least a year to get to a healthy weight and then hopefully a year maintenance or longer if we can afford it.

We are maybe saving money on food but not that much. Coffees perhaps, id get 1-2 takeaway coffees a week at £3-4 each so thats some money saved but I wouldn't say we are buying any less food necessarily. But there are 6 of us so it's always going to be a big food bill 😂

SmallSoupcon · 09/05/2025 19:40

Speaking of tall men and their weight. I saw a 1978 Blue Peter video today of 6ft+ Simon Groom doing a thing with the army. He said he was 11 stone! That's my goal weight! 😂
(I'm 5'9)

It's the extras that are adding up for me. I'm buying less food but more protein rich and fresh stuff, which is pricier. I have a bunch of not-cheap supplements, I've bought some exercise equipment and today had to buy some new bras!

On impulse I also bought a sewing machine to learn to alter my clothes. In retrosp that might be a bit over-ambitious 😂

Snap snap , DH is 6’5 (I’m 5’8) and he is 2st lighter than my current weight.

to be fair he is very slim but due to ethnicity and diabetes he supposed to be the weight he is .

Just worked out I am now only 3lb heavier than DH, he is slim and athletic and 4 inches taller than me. This is very pleasing.

A few YouTube videos and you’ll be away.

My husband is 7inches taller than I am, he also weighs 116kg, but he is in our home gym everyday and built like a tree. He also can lose weight quickly and get down to 85kg for his hobby/job/life (not body building). I think I said he took his elderly Dad to the doctors and his Dad weighed less than me and was 4 inches taller that I knew, I could not bury my head in the sand any longer.

My husband still does not know I am taking MJ, I think he is suspicious but I just saying I am working out.
