New thread for all of us.

Thank you for allowing me to rant, share our ups and downs. Our group blows my mind of how we are so supportive of each other.

Just worked out I am now only 3lb heavier than DH, he is slim and athletic and 4 inches taller than me. This is very pleasing.

Amazing , I’m working towards being same weight as DH 19 July when we having a joint 40th, which is slightly passed half way to ultimate goal weight (which I want to reach by Christmas)

RuthEvershedforPM · 09/05/2025 22:53

First 7.5 jab a couple of days ago so week 9 day 3

SW - 82.6
CW 71.8
GW 54

nsvs are where it’s at for me today though

  • took some photos for work and didn’t hate them
  • my business partner who hadn’t said anything about weight loss noticed me buy a sandwich for lunch and said ‘oh carbs today - watch out you will get fat again’ this sounds terrible- but actually that means he must have noticed a loss 😂 I see him most days so thought it would be less noticeable than with other people
  • Have had to put some clothes in a pile for the charity shop as they are too big

I have along way to go - but over a third of the way now

Lolliz87 · 09/05/2025 23:47

Not managed to post much this week as work has been a total nightmare! Taken another 3.75 jab tonight as fingers crossed bar my chicken wing issue 3.75 seems good for me, suppression is good (although yesterday and today have been hungry!) but not too many side effects. Weigh day is Monday so fingers crossed I lose a bit as of this morning it’s just 0.3kg which could well mean I have another couple of weeks of small losses and then a whoosh which seems to be becoming a pattern. Either way at least it is coming off.

TheSpoonyNavyReader · 09/05/2025 15:30

Good morning all,

Well done to all those losing weight and feeling good.

@TryingMJ our weight loss journey seems identical. Starting weight nearly the same and losses are the same.

I also feel the same when I look in the mirror I can not see the weight loss, but I did notice one thing my boobs now sit better and the side fat has reduced to the point you can see definition in my boobs instead of just a shelf from round my back. They are still perky and high thanks to the hands of my surgeon 5 years ago!

It’s weigh day for me and I have to say I am f&£king upset that I have lost a pound. I actually had a cry today, it’s 2 weeks until my son gets married and I was hoping to be closer to 10 and a half stone.

I think it was because I have not eaten a lot but I have been drinking 3 litres of water everyday.

Week 10
SW 13st 4lbs
CW 10st 13lbs
TW 9st 7lbs would like to get to 9st

It’s nice to see a new stone bracket of 10s it’s been at least 3 years since my weight started with a 10

We are most definitely moving along a similar trajectory, OP 👏 I’m jealous you’re in the 10s and I can’t wait to see that number on the scales- it’s been a while! Hoping to get there in the next few weeks. I have a family holiday during the end of May half term (bank holiday), no abroad but a large cottage with extended family members for a family celebration, and I would love to be under 11 stone by then. It’s funny because really to the eye there will be no difference between 11 stone 2lbs and 10 stone 13lbs but psychologically it makes ALL the difference (same for you, OP for your target for your son’s wedding, I think you said 10st 7 and you’re currently 10 st 13- there’s really not that much in it but it makes the world of difference in our minds!).

It was someone’s birthday at work yesterday and as is our work tradition they had brought in cakes, cookies and treats. I didn’t have one, and I was surprised by my inner monologue on this. Before, I would’ve thought “oh I’ll have a cake, of course I’ll have a cake, one cake isn’t going to affect my diet!” There would have been no question over the fact I would definitely have one… at least one. But this time I was able to think “true one cake isn’t going to make me gain 4 stone… but one cake every day for 6 months will be a major contributor”. I didn’t need that cake, yes I know it’s not healthy to restrict yourself and life is for living and we need to enjoy our treats too, but at 10.30am on a Friday for some random supermarket wrapped cake bar- I did not need or want that, it wouldn’t actually have brought me any pleasure or enjoyment. If I had a situation where I was out for a special occasion with friends and there was a special homemade or bakery made decadent cake, that’s when I don’t want to deny myself. I hope this is my brain shifting and healing my relationship with food.

PurpleFlower1983 · 10/05/2025 07:10

SW: 13st 12
CW: 12st 5
GW: 11st 7 ish

21lbs lost since the beginning of March. I thought I had plateaued but actually I am very happy with that. My aim to to get to the 11s and maintain somewhere in the middle to give myself some wiggle room.

IngoGreen · 10/05/2025 07:32

@TryingMJ sounds like a big shift in mindset. And literally no one will care if you don’t have one.

I really like something someone said a few weeks ago on here. If I eat the crappy food that I don’t really want but that would “be a waste” if I don’t eat it, it’s like treating myself as a dustbin. That’s making a lot of sense when we need the good nourishing stuff.

Yellowsubmarine55 · 10/05/2025 07:44

Ugh I feel terrible - I was doing so well but Thursday night all night had watery 💩 and was sick yesterday lunchtime.

Hardly are anything yesterday as in a few crackers and some rice that nearly reappeared and couldn't drink much at all.

I don't think it's food related as I ate the same Thursday as I had Wednesday and it was pretty plain fish and veg apart from some spinach that may have been in the fridge slightly longer than it should but that's it.

So is it a bug, random side effects 7 weeks in or dodgy spinach ?? Who knows but I have to drink more today as I'll be in trouble otherwise.

Still watery 💩 this morning and so many gurgles in my intestines they're like a volcano.

Pity party today for me ☹️

Flamethrowers · 10/05/2025 07:50

@Yellowsubmarine55 poor you! I had three weeks on and off of gurgly stomach and explosive watery diarrhea which started out of nowhere and has only recently resolved. You must take dialoryte or make your own electrolyte drink as I think not doing so is why I suddenly for the first time in my life developed hypotension (can be caused by dehydration). I developed a temporary fat intolerance and found that bread and rice and bananas were ok more or less. It was really debilitating but it did pass. (This started week five and lasted until around week eight). I made a few mistakes along the way eg thinking two days in the clear meant I could have cake at a friends house and goats cheese (set me back to square one). Go slowly. But drinking a lot and electrolytes are crucial (my daughter recently had to have an IV water line in hospital from severe dehydration from a vomiting bug and the transformation as the water went into her was incredible). There changed can be linked to a dose change but mine weren't (I've been on 2.5 from the start).

soupforbrains · 10/05/2025 08:24

@Yellowsubmarine55oh god, you poor thing. As Flame said, this does sound like SEs which a few of us have suffered. I had all that you’ve described plus continuous violent vomiting for 2.5 weeks. I was a bit of the ‘canary on the mine’ as for me it was the first few weeks of taking MJ. Looking back I’m not sure how I convinced myself to keep going but I’m glad I did. It did pass and I’m ok now.

Tiny amounts of dry plain food is where it’s at. It’s not ideal when we’re all trying to manage our intakes so carefully but just make sure you’re drinking plenty of water, taking electrolytes if you can, and it will pass. The human body can survive ages without food, but you need water. The non fizzy Lucozade is a good way to rehydrate too.

take care of yourself and know it’s just a phase. Strange things which I found helped with the nausea and sometimes fend off the vomiting included breathing slowly and deeply through my nose and tilting my head back/looking at the ceiling.
Good luck!

Yellowsubmarine55 · 10/05/2025 09:06

Thank you @Flamethrowers and @soupforbrains - some good tips.

On the up side weight loss will be fabulous this week 😆

Aboutmeabouttime · 10/05/2025 09:58

Sorry to hear @Yellowsubmarine55- sounds like some good advice from people. I hope it passes quickly.

Wk 8 weigh in for me - 1lb lost. Wishing it was a bit more as would have tipped me into the 11st bracket but should see it this week.
I didn’t have the best week food wise - not majorly over calories but not enough thought into meals, def not enough vegetables which has left me a bit bunged up! Task this week is to eat well!

NSV though- wore a dress to work that I love(actually have it in two patterns) that has not fit for at least two years 😊 speaking at a conference on Tues and will wear it again!!

Flamethrowers · 10/05/2025 10:25

@Yellowsubmarine55 btw my weight didn't drop immediately as I think my body was just holding onto anything it could - but after a few days I got a whoosh and dropped a kilo!

im now on 1lb a week weight loss. My Mounjaro mentor (chat gpt) has suggested I think either about coming off Mounjaro (because I've developed hypothyroidism for the first time and hypertension for the first time) or loosing weight absolutely incrementally. I made it guess my age again this morning based on a body shot. It wasn't kind about my crepey neck but did chip in with some helpful clothing ideas (and facial yoga tips!!!!)
it wasn't keen on one of my dresses sadly.

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 10/05/2025 10:27

Sorry to hear your suffering SE @Yellowsubmarine55 hope you pick up soon.

I'm trying really hard not to be frustrated. I'm def hitting a slowing down/plateau. I just don't understand it when I look at what I'm eating.

I know the losses I've had are not gong to continue, but I'm barely managing a lb this week. Official weigh day tomorrow, abd I'm 3lbs away from the 2 st mark and thought I'd get it this week , which would have required 2 weeks at 2lbs. But "only" lost a lb last week and looking the same this week. Logically I know it's fine but our brains mess with us don't they

soupforbrains · 10/05/2025 12:54

Ok everyone I have a revolutionary new strategy for you all.

ignore all the food plans and regimes. Forget dieting or laxative abuse. I have SOLVED my eight loss FOREVER.

As some of you will have read. I had a rubbish start to the week and gained 3lbs in 3 days despite maintaining all my good activity, hydration and eating habits.

however I have turned it all around. my weigh in for this week is:

week 10
SW:19st10
CW:17st10
GW:11st7
total loss: 2stone (24%of goal loss)

so not only did I lose the 3lbs I gained but I lost an extra one.

I hear you Screaming, BUT HOW? HOW DID YOU ACHIEVE THIS WONDROUS THING?!

well I will share my magic with you now…. What I did was this. I got sad, then I got mad. Then I sulked for around 24 hrs. And then I had a big tantrum and TADA!! I scared those pesky pounds away!

Thank yiu for coming to my TED Talk. And You’re Welcome 😇

AgnethaF · 10/05/2025 12:56

Jab 9 yesterday. Tried and failed again at the golden dose from last pen.

SW 14.11
CW 13.4

lost 4 lbs last week, but have been off food due to chest and sinus infection. Everything tastes like dust!

Obviously happy that I’ve lost one and a half stone. Nobody has noticed at all! Except DH who knows I’m on MJ.

Still wearing same clothes and knickers are not yet falling down. My treble chin is now only a double.

If I can lose another stone and half, I will actually be amazed! Not been a successful dieter over the years.

Glad to hear weight watchers is no more. I’m sure it’s given us lots of unhealthy relationships with food. Especially so called “low fat” meals that are now proven to be bad for us.

PlexGirl34 · 10/05/2025 13:29

Afternoon all bit of late update from em as we were away on holiday this week. Weighted in this morning and I have 5lb off so happy to be in the 11 stones in now

SW 14 stone
CW 11 stone 9lb
GW 9 Stone 5

Now to start my second round of 5mg. All good no major side effects.

@babyhandsrobin hope ur doing good,

Yetanotherusername2000 · 10/05/2025 14:24

I’m so grateful for the advice.
my mornings are starting with electrolytes and collagen in a pint of water, and a protein yoghurt pouch, and my headaches have gone.
Fridays are takeaway for me and my teen, and I had small fries and a cheeseburger last night (burger was less calories than the wrap) and felt like I’d had a three course meal!
I was not expecting a loss, but have lost 2lb this week, and 1 stone 8lb overall.
still at least another stone to go.

my friend at work has lost 5 stone since last summer and is so happy. She’s recently had fillers for her jowls and I am def jealous but no idea where to even start looking!

MrsAlwaysRight · 10/05/2025 16:13

Hi all,

I've just done my 1st 5mg jab. So far I've done 5 weeks at 2.5mg and 5 weeks of 3.75. Lost 13lbs so far. I was planning on staying on 3.75 but as my losses have been slow and this week I stayed the same, decided to move up to 5. Fingers crossed no side effects 🤞

SW 13.10
CW 12.11

TheBossOfMe · 10/05/2025 17:20

@Yellowsubmarine55 Poor you, hope you feel a lot better soon. Focus on hydrating for the moment.

@soupforbrains 😂

Got back from NY this morning, hate the red eye back, totally throws my sleep patterns out for a few days. Especially since I had early dinner with the team before heading to the airport so felt like I was trying to sleep on a too full stomach. Strategy of ordering pre-determined menu choices was a good one, but I’m still worried that I’ll have gained or stayed flat this week, all of my food for two days has been takeout or restaurant food, and it’s really hard to judge calories and nutrition intake with that, especially in the US. Plus all the salt, which I could really taste. I haven’t weighed today because I just wanted to shower and change as soon as I got back so will have to wait until tomorrow.

GiveMeWordGames · 10/05/2025 17:43

Hello! I'm checking in as I speed away from Edinburgh past the glorious NE coast.
@TheBossOfMe I feel a lot the same. Scottish portions aren't quite up there with US ones but although I was super careful about what I ordered, eating out for every meal except breakfast is challenging.

I didn't want to drink at all though so that was fine.

On the plus side, walking around Edinburgh certainly gave my quads and glutes a workout!

Oh, also I couldn't help wondering if the wife of one of DHs mate was also on WLI. We kept ordering similar smaller, salady, soupy things and neither of us was drinking. 😁

Yetanotherusername2000 · 10/05/2025 18:52

Is anyone brave enough to believe this is real change and buying new clothes yet?

TheBossOfMe · 10/05/2025 18:56

@GiveMeWordGames I’ve done loads of cookery courses with pro chefs and it’s gobsmacking how much butter and oil is used in cooking in a restaurant kitchen. Far, far more than you’d ever use at home. So even food that you think isn’t that calorific is generally far more calorific than the home cooked equivalent.

Flamethrowers · 10/05/2025 19:03

Do people have more energy?
I am completely knackered and feel so out of whack! I can't work out what's going on with me. I look slimmer, I am more flexible and yet I feel so drained and lightheaded.
my appetite is coming back and today I chose to have some cake. I just look so tired though. No inner glow for me!

Puddingpiper · 10/05/2025 19:03

Yetanotherusername2000 · 10/05/2025 18:52

Is anyone brave enough to believe this is real change and buying new clothes yet?

Yes I have had to buy a lot of new options (and also gone down a Vinted hole). I’m being careful to buy clothes with more sizing flexibility especially for work so dresses rather than trousers. I’ve also got a fair few blazers to wear over dresses and more oversized style tops. I will always have a few full suits and maybe four pairs of work trousers - I’m full smart office dress 5 days a week.

I’ve also spent a small fortune on skincare and make up as I was fed up of looking like I didn’t care about my appearance. I’m genuinely amazed (and appalled) at how differently I am treated now I am making an effort with how I look!

it is very frustrating in the main I am a size 18 now top and bottom but have clothes ranging from a size 16-20 that fit.

IngoGreen · 10/05/2025 20:54

Yetanotherusername2000 · 10/05/2025 18:52

Also been on Vinted for few holiday clothes, will be by the pool in a couple of weeks. And sister has a few nice swishy things she’s passed on that I can now get into. Work clothes more formal, so yes, @Puddingpiper its a layering job at work, don’t want to spend a fortune on full new suits.
