New thread for all of us.

Thank you for allowing me to rant, share our ups and downs. Our group blows my mind of how we are so supportive of each other.

Half way through my 7th injection and have lost 7 kilos (just over a stone). Absolutely delighted . I don’t think it’s very noticeable yet but god it’s a relief to have made a dent in it all. I think another couple of kilos and I might fit into my next size down trousers which will be like getting a whole new wardrobe

SmallSoupcon · 13/05/2025 12:16

Big loss. Huge!

I'm down 5lbs today after two weeks of bugger all progress.

However, I've eaten very little due to 💩 issues, so I'm only cautiously positive. I've felt too drained to do strength exercises, and haven't eaten much protein, so feel I've gone a bit backwards with my physical condition.

Still, no runny bowel movements so far today - reasons to be cheerful!

SW: 14st 3
GW: 11st
CW: 12st 6

TheBossOfMe · 13/05/2025 12:29

@Flamethrowers Exactly that - and I'm finding the support of this group so helpful at not getting despondent when losses are slow and scales are stuck, or when I had a gain week because life happens.

@Menopants Looking forward to you getting into that new wardrobe, that's exactly what I've just managed and it's such a happy feeling. I feel like I've found old friends buried in the loft 😂

@SmallSoupcon That is huge!!! And great that the SEs are subsiding, you'll be back on the exercise wagon in no time.

Amjam2025 · 13/05/2025 13:35

@TheBossOfMe Thank you! :) You're smashing it too!

What kind of core work have you found has been successful for reducing mummy pouch for you? I'm not going to lie, I hate exercise other than walking and swimming but these aren't really reducing my belly enough, and it looks rough! Glad you're not getting SE, I've had awful side effects on and off for a couple of weeks now, (didn't get any for the first 7 weeks or so!) I dont think ill have another chinese takeaway while im on MJ as that's what seemed to start it all off!

Thanks to everyone for sharing their stories and journeys, reading this thread helps me to feel like I'm not alone and gives me reassurance when im worrying about things!

Van34 · 13/05/2025 13:47

9 weeks and 3 days and I have hit 1.5 stone loss. Still 3/4 stone to go but I am feeling amazing. I have never been so focus and stuck with a diet so long. It's starting to just become normal now, I'm tracking food but I'm not having to think about what I'm eating and if it is nutritious. A switch has flicked.

Bipaloss · 13/05/2025 14:20

Question has any one used dulcolax or similar while on MJ.

I have been regular and usually have a “flush” on day 5 or 6 and if not, prunes or fig has done the trick.

this time I didn’t have the flush and now been 6 days, feel like I need to go but not if that makes sense. Don’t feel bloated but just very full like it need a drain.

im thinking of taking something unless something happens today, but don’t want to kick start D either. Any experience would be helpful

(W10, did 46 klicks of a 7.5 jab /around 5.7 mg last night)

seasidehunter · 13/05/2025 14:30

Start of week 10 for me - weigh in was 11st 4lb so that's another 2.5lb off and 18lb overall. I'm on my third week of 3.75mg at the moment and I'm feeling the most suppression I've felt all along and I'm not really enjoying it!

I just feel like I don't want to eat anything, not really a full feeling just that I don't really fancy anything so I'm forcing myself to eat despite not enjoying it. But I also seem to have a constant low level nausea that makes me feel like my blood sugar is dropping and it doesn't go away when I eat. This feeling kicked in mid-way through my second week at 3.75mg and no sign of it going away.

On top of this I'm still not getting any results from the prune juice so I generally feel all a bit crap.

TheBossOfMe · 13/05/2025 17:21

@Amjam2025 Don't take my word as gospel because I'm very far from a fitness expert, but there's a 5 min plank finisher workout on Nike Training Club that I used to chuck into the end of every workout. It took me months to be able to get through it all without dropping to my knees, but when I got there, my stomach was the best it had been since my c-section.

@Bipaloss I've taken it once or twice, without any negative effects, when I've missed my usual morning movement - take it that night, and back to normal the next day. I only took one tablet though, was a bit worried about taking two!

Flamethrowers · 13/05/2025 18:23

@TheBossOfMe omg I can't believe you could do that plank workout!!!!!! I can di a plank for 45 seconds and feel like wonder woman! I can't do a press up either.

TheBossOfMe · 13/05/2025 18:26

Flamethrowers · 13/05/2025 18:23

@TheBossOfMe omg I can't believe you could do that plank workout!!!!!! I can di a plank for 45 seconds and feel like wonder woman! I can't do a press up either.

It took so long to be able to do it - I'm a stubborn cow sometimes and took it as a challenge. I think I managed about 10 secs of each plank the first time I did it, and couldn't do the side twist ones at all. I almost cried with happiness the first time I did it end to end.

However I'm now back to not being able to do it properly - getting a tiny bit better every day, but it's another journey along with the weight loss. Obvs I like journeys 😂

TheBossOfMe · 13/05/2025 18:33

Actually, for any of you who are looking for a good place to start with resistance/strength training, I really rate the Nike Training Club app. You can select workouts by fitness level, there a different ones for each body area, loads of 15/20 mins so easy to fit in to the day, loads of body weight ones so you don't need anything apart from a soft floor surface/mat, and if you don't have home weights, resistance bands works with a lot of the workouts. And it's good at showing form and how to do the exercises, with small recovery resets in between. And it's free. Just don't do the HIIT ones if you're starting out, they're a bit brutal!

GameOfJones · 13/05/2025 18:58

@Bipaloss I took senna tablets (just the Boots own brand ones) a few weeks ago when I was feeling backed up and they seemed to do the trick.

Suppression is high again this evening. Similar to @seasidehunter it's like I can't be bothered to eat and don't fancy anything rather than physically feeling full. I've just made myself eat a protein yoghurt which isn't really a satisfactory dinner but is at least something. I'm due to jab (and weigh) again tomorrow and I've found it so strange on 5mg where some days I can eat loads but later on my suppression may be high even if it's the end of the week. It's very different from 2.5mg and even 3.75mg in that respect where I felt the effects peaked and then would wear off.

TheBossOfMe · 13/05/2025 19:32

@Bipaloss I don't know if this would help, but I've just remembered that back when I had DD, my NCT teacher recommended golden linseed as a really good natural way of keeping things moving. I definitely remember them doing the job really well post c-section. Used to sprinkle them on yoghurt and eat!

IngoGreen · 13/05/2025 20:17

@TheBossOfMe echo the kudos for that plank malarkey. Blimey!! Inspired.

I just watched ‘fatoldclimber’ on YouTube, for anyone worrying about the ins and outs it’s a reassuring and interesting watch from someone a couple of months down the line.

financialmuddle · 13/05/2025 20:24

Psyllium powder is a really useful and safe way to regulate your bowels. A teaspoon (or more if needed) in a large glass of water every day helps your bowel work better whether it's constipation or diarrhoea. You do need to take enough water with it though. I find it mixes more easily in warm water.

TheBossOfMe · 13/05/2025 20:41

@IngoGreen @Flamethrowers you wouldn't be so impressed if you saw me trying to do a burpee. That’s not good 😂

I have mantra going though that done badly (bar risking injury) is better than not done. Strength training is really important at my age (52) but it’s really, really hard sometimes. Cardio is easier IMO. I don’t really care that people can do more, do it better, do it harder and faster. Just doing it is a win. Even if sometimes I feel like crying and screaming:)

So I don’t care if people laugh at me when I decide to do some exercise outdoors and look like a hot sweaty mess. I’m winning even when they do.

This is a great story to share - because it’s so inspirational. In the early days of the last lockdown in 2021 I used to run in the park near me. I used to see a woman (maybe 20s so a lot younger than me) who was really overweight, and was right at the start of her running journey, you could barely call it running. She came up to me one day when I was stretching post run - we’re both Asian and I think she thought I’d be a safe person to ask, so I pointed her in the direction of both C25k and Nike training. Saw her a lot getting faster and stronger for a few months, used to chat to her a bit, and then didn’t see her for years. Until a few months ago when she pelted past me in the park, about half the size of the woman I first met, and doubled back to talk to me. She told me she was now a regular park runner and was aiming for a big goal. Didn’t say what it was.

I saw her fairly regularly in the park after that, but didn’t talk to her because we were both always mid run. Until last week when she broke her run to tell me she’d run the London marathon this year. It took her over 6 hours but she did it. I was very nearly crying when she told me about how proud she felt and how when I’d first met her she didn’t think she’d ever be able to run even a 5k.

6 hours isn’t fast - but she did it. And trust me if you’d seen her that first day you would never have thought that she’d get there. So she’s my talisman now. Done slowly is better than not done. She’s proof of that.

And I still don’t know her name :)

Bipaloss · 13/05/2025 20:50

@GameOfJones @financialmuddle @TheBossOfMe thank you for sharing

I drank an extra liter of water this afternoon and went for my weekly Zumba class this evening and it did the trick 😅

still feel full but MJ full rather than belly full , such a relief 😆

TheBossOfMe · 13/05/2025 20:50

BTW I’m not in any way saying we should be aiming to run marathons. Lord knows I’ll never be able to do that 😂

But doing something is better than doing nothing. And using MJ is doing something :)

Week 11 weigh in

SW: 14st

CW: 12st 2lbs

GW: under 11st

I'm absolutely delighted this week after a few weeks of losing barely anything I've had a whoosh and 3lbs off. I don't think I've done anything differently this week....my body obviously decided to play catch up.

Approaching the 2st loss now which is mental. I really need to think about exercise and toning... I can notice lots of loose skin on my stomach so that's something I'm going to have to factor in. But my BMI is 27......27! Last summer it was 34!

Morning all, midweek accountability weigh in.

SW 10st 4.6lb/144.6lb BMI 25.7 (prescribed MJ because of diabetes risk and hideous waist measurement)
CW 9st 1.9lblb/127.9lb BMI 22.7 - 16.7lb down, 73.9% of target achieved.
GW 8st 10lb/122lb (22.6lb total target loss, 5.9lb to go) BMI 21.6

Loss by week:
W1 5.5lb
W2 1.3lb
W3 0.7lb (ate out loads)
W4 3.3lb
W5 0.5lb gain (ate out loads)
W6 3.8lb (Post Easter weekend plus period)
W7 2.6lb
W8 1.5lb gain (BH weekend away, ate out loads)
W9 1.1lb
W10 0.4lb so far

Got rid of the gain weight from W8 now, which is good, although it takes a lot longer to get it off than it does to put it on 😂

Oddly feeling not that much suppression on 7.5ml - nowhere near as much as I felt when I first started MJ. Maybe that's just my brain getting used to what not wanting to giant portions feels like and adjusting to a new (actually old) normal for me? Either way, it's probably good because I'm eating enough to keep nutrition levels in a good range without having to force myself, hopefully that'll help with maintenance when I get there.

Tonight is going to be a challenge though - I'm going to a retirement dinner at Hakkasan and it's a set menu in a private room, with a stupid number of courses. I got the menu from the lady who is organising it, and even if I pick at the food, it's pretty calorie dense, and the sheer number of courses is going to make it really hard. Plus Chinese food always makes me retain water. So I'm expecting a bump tomorrow even with a lot of willpower.

I'm realising how much my job is a bit of an issue when it comes to diet! Typically in a work week I'll have two or three client/supplier lunches, and then one or two dinners on top. That's a lot of eating out - lunches aren't so bad, because they're alcohol free and nobody blinks if you just have a salad with dressing on the side as a single course (long lunches are a thing of the past in my industry), but the dinners rack the calories up pretty quickly. And then at least one social dinner as well. I've started taking my own food in for lunches in the office - I usually have working lunches, but in London a lot of people bring food in Tupperware and we don't order in for it, so they're better than NY working lunches. I did a really rough calculation of total calories consumed across the week - and eating out for three dinners and two lunches is a large percentage of my overall calories for the week!!! I think it's fine so long as I'm really mindful of that, and balance the rest of the week out well though.

That's AMAZING well done!! I'm the same, also need to start exercising. I am quite active daily but no dedicated exercise really. I'm also a smidge away from 2st but more yet to lose than you, so worried about loose skin. I'm taking collagen and hoping it helps, and using body lotion like I'm pregnant 😂

GameOfJones · 14/05/2025 14:47

@Illbefinejustbloodyfine at least you're active during the day though. Unfortunately I am not....office job and then am tired in the evenings but it's doing a number on my health being so sedentary. I do a one hour yoga class once a week but that's it really. I've told myself if I get below 12st I'm going to buy myself an exercise bike as a treat to myself for getting 2st off. Who even am I viewing that as a treat?! 🤣

Aboutmeabouttime · 14/05/2025 18:07

@GameOfJonesdo you would from home much? Best thing I ever bought myself to date is a standing desk and I aim to be on my feet until lunchtime. Eyeing up a walking pad for it too!

GameOfJones · 14/05/2025 18:12

@Aboutmeabouttime I work from home one day a week but I've also been eyeing up those walking pads. I thought I could choose a series to watch but only allow myself to watch it as I walk 😁
