New thread for all of us.

Thank you for allowing me to rant, share our ups and downs. Our group blows my mind of how we are so supportive of each other.

Oh good lord, I had two glasses of wine yesterday after 2 months of barely drinking and today I feel wretched. I don't feel hungover, just incredibly nauseous. I'm so glad I am working from home as I don't think I could be in an office today as I keep having to lie down.

SpottyUnicorn · 28/04/2025 09:34

@Fatmumslim01 How are you feeling? I had a difficult first week after injecting 5.0 and don’t think I’ve ever been as nauseous as I was then.
I did some research after that and a number of people recommended Pepto Bismol (not same as Gaviscon). I’ve now taken it a few times when getting nauseous after some foods and it works brilliantly! Hope you’ll start feeling better soon.

TheBossOfMe · 28/04/2025 09:46

@seasidehunter - Well done on running the marathon, it was warm yesterday, that must have been tough!

@SpottyUnicorn - Brilliant that it's a noticeable loss, 10lb can make a huge difference.

Monday weigh day.

SW 10st 4.6lb/144.6lb BMI 25.7 (prescribed MJ because of diabetes risk and hideous waist measurement)
CW 9st 1.9lblb/127.9lb BMI 22.7 - 16.7lb down, 62.8% of target achieved.
GW 8st 6lb/118lb (26.6lb total target loss, 9.9lb to go) BMI 20.9 (low BMI advised as target by doctor)

Loss by week:
W1 5.5lb
W2 1.3lb
W3 0.7lb (ate out loads)
W4 3.3lb
W5 0.5lb gain (ate out loads)
W6 3.8lb (Post Easter weekend plus period)
W7 2.6lb (ate out and entertained loads)

Super, super happy with that W7 loss, it was a really heavy entertaining and socialising weekend (with far too much wine involved) so I would have been ok with a no loss week. I didn't really feel like I denied myself food, just made much better choices of what to order and when to stop eating.

Whoever recommended shashlik as the thing to order in an Indian restaurant was spot on - super satisfying for the taste buds, without being really calorific. Went light on the rice (a couple of spoonfuls instead of a whole portion), with some dhal. Felt like a really nice meal, with none of the "guilt" that I'd feel after a sauce and calorie heavy dish.

@seasidehunter bloody well done on the marathon, what an amazing achievement! Is it your first? Def will throw the scales off though.

It was marathon number 20 for me, so I should’ve known what I was letting myself in for. But it was so hot and injury had meant I hadn’t trained enough (and got fatter). Along with the effects of MJ… perfect storm for a gastro disaster. Couldn’t decide if I wanted to be sick or rush to a portaloo for most of the 5 hours I was out there! 🤢

LilyLondon · 28/04/2025 10:01

@seasidehunterjust casually dropping “no loss but I’ve run a marathon” like it’s something small 😱 well done!

@TheBossOfMethat’s an impressive loss for a lot of eating out! I never feel guilty about an Indian meal, but on WLIs I suffer with terrible heartburn after eating that rich/spicy, so I’m avoiding for now 💔

It would be a jab day for me, but I’m pushing it a day further for a few weeks, so I can go to my sister’s wedding (extended trip - 9 days) without the faff of bringing it on an airplane and around my family.

SW 13st 3lbs
CW 12st 3.5lbs (so ALMOST a stone in 8 weeks but not 🥲)

Maintaining steady loss of 1.75lbs per week, which I’m very happy with. I’m trying to ensure I don’t loose too much muscles, so doing reformer Pilates 3x per week + upping my protein intake…

…in other news, I just ruined my porridge with a scoop of my husband’s protein powder. Any recommendations for protein powders that don’t taste like plastic dipped in stale chocolate water? 😵‍💫

GameOfJones · 28/04/2025 10:26

Morning all. Huge congratulations on the marathon @seasidehunter that is an amazing achievement.

I'm lightheaded again today (week 8 but first week of 5mg.) Other than that, no side effects and suppression pretty high. I've just done the food shop but am currently sitting in the car having not left the car park as I felt a bit dizzy. I've loaded up on healthy food for the weekly shop and I'm going to have a protein shake when I get home to get something into me because I don't feel like eating. I can't do the milky shakes but don't mind the clear whey juice ones. I've also discovered Vieve protein juice which I picked up in Holland and Barrett and has been handy for something ready made and on the go. They do all taste artificial but this one isn't too bad, I got the strawberry and rhubarb one and it tastes a bit like a melted ice lolly to me.

RuthEvershedforPM · 28/04/2025 10:38

Congratulations on the marathon @seasidehunter - definitely a warm one yesterday. Hope the recovery is gentle

TheBossOfMe · 28/04/2025 10:42

@seasidehunter 20 marathons! I can't even imagine running 1! I bow down!

@LilyLondon Heartburn is an issue - but I don't have that problem with dry dishes so much, only if they are really heavy on sauce. And avoid dense carbs stuff like naan bread. And no, I haven't found a decent protein powder at all!

I'm slowly learning how to manage eating out better. I've slightly turned into Sally from When Harry Met Sally - so for the pub roast, I asked for no potatoes, gravy on the side, replaced the root vegetables (carrots, parsnip and swede mash) with a side order of green beans, broccoli and mange tout with no butter. That made it a fairly nutritious but less calorie dense lunch. For another meal, I replaced the fries with vegetables again. I'm trying not to rely just on suppression - I need to reeducate my taste buds and stomach to be satisfied with different food.

Aww thanks for asking @SpottyUnicorn

I'm still feeling really nauseous. Had one spoon of yogurt for breakfast and that was a mission. I've thankfully just eaten my lunch all fine although the smell of everyone's else's is making me feel more sick.

Feeling a bit fed up now. Still in work though as not ill enough to stay at home but I'm flagging. Going to get some fresh air in a minute.

How have others dealt with the jump to the next dose? I had none of this on 2.5 but since going up to 3.75 the side effects have hit hard!

Might get some pepto, I tried gaviscon in pregnancy but it made me feel more sick so I just put up with the sickness 😂

Justformounjaro · 28/04/2025 12:20

I weighed on Saturday but didn’t update my stats:

Pre Start Weight: 15st 6.5lbs
Start Weight MJ: 15st 0lbs
Goal Weight: Undecided

Current Weight: 14st 0.3lbs
Loss on MJ: 13.7lbs
Total loss: 1st 6.2lbs

Week 1: 3.1lbs (2.5mg)
Week 2: 2.1lbs (2.5mg)
Week 3: 1.5lbs (2.5mg)
Week 4: 1.6lbs (2.5mg)
Week 5: 1.7lbs (2.5mg)
Week 6: 0.5lbs (2.5mg)
Week 7: 2.6lbs (2.5mg)
Week 8: 0.6lbs (2.5mg)

This is where Friday night wine, peanuts, and Chinese takeaway appears to scupper my weight loss. I was below 14st on Friday morning, and again on Sunday so I couldn’t claim the joy of breaking a stone barrier, and a stone lost on MJ, and we’re away for a week from tomorrow so I won’t be weighing this week (and might be trying to recover losses after that).

So, I’m just going to tell you now that my weight this morning was 13st 13lbs so I’ve lost 1st 1lb on MJ to date. I’ve also received a size 14 in my favourite jeans and can do them up (with a bit of a muffin top admittedly but even so - I didn’t think I’d get here so quickly).

Justformounjaro · 28/04/2025 12:33

@Fatmumslim01 I don’t know what your starting weight was but your weight loss isn’t far behind where I was at 6 weeks in. I’d far rather have smaller weight loss with no real side effects and I’ve stayed at 2.5mg.

@Justformounjaro I was 14-7 at 5 foot tall so a BMI just shy of 40 and now I'm 13-11 so 10 pounds off in 6 weeks

Amazing achievement! I am just not a natural runner, not since I grew massive boobs aged 12 I’ve never enjoyed it since sadly. X

Lolliz87 · 28/04/2025 12:45

Slightly annoyed today, only lost 0.6 pounds after a week where I had done quite well (and had a bout of Sickness and diarrhoea), walked loads. weighed less Friday than I did today. Sigh. However, at least it’s a loss and I am also due TOTM any minute now so perhaps next week will be a whoosh week! I really wanted to get to 2 stone off by 13th may as I am off on holiday but would need to lose 2 pounds each week so maybe it won’t quite be achieved. Still a loss is a loss I keep telling myself!

SmallSoupcon · 28/04/2025 13:07

seasidehunter · 28/04/2025 09:19

W8D1 - no loss this week as scales stuck firm at 11st 9lb. Means I still haven’t quite made it to a full 1st lost. But I ran the marathon yesterday and I’m dehydrated and exhausted from the heat so I don’t think this morning’s weigh in was a true reflection of the state of play.

I would normally jab on Sunday evening but couldn’t face it so will do it this morning. Had wondered whether to use the golden dose of this 2.5mg pen to do 3.75mg this week. But given how I feel today with heat exhaustion/dehydration, I’m not sure it’s a good time to up the dose - I really need to get fluids and food into me and don’t need to risk feeling major SEs. Onwards to next week when I can up the dose and, hopefully, finally get over that 1st hump!

Wow what an incredible achievement, I'm in awe! I'm not surprised you couldn't face your jab, your body must be in need of serious recovery. It was so hot yesterday, years ago I did a 5k in Hyde Park on a sunny day and it was unbearable. I can't get my head around doing that for 26 miles. What incredible mental toughness!

My local 10k is in May. I always go and watch as I find it really emotional! I ran it once about 15 years ago. I think I might set myself a goal to enter it next year, when the weight has long gone and I can do high impact stuff again.

You’ve lost nearly 5% of your body weight in 6 weeks, and are probably losing at a rate that was generally considered to be good pre WLI. If you do want to stay on the higher dose, have you considered micro dosing to help with the side effects? I know some people on the thread have said it has helped them.

GiveMeWordGames · 28/04/2025 13:49

I am in utter awe of the marathon running!.

5 weeks since I started, I just did my second 5mg dose this morning. Crossing fingers for fewer SEs on days 2-4 this week.

SW 17st 4
CW 16st 4

Happy with that!

I'm not massively noticing it off my waist yet but it's hard with the occasional bloating. My jeans feel looser on the legs though. Typical. My legs are the slimmest bit of me to start with! 😂

TheSpoonyNavyReader · 28/04/2025 15:24

Well done @seasidehunter your 20th marathon, it’s always been a dream of mine to do a marathon, but with my boobs I would probably knock myself out in the first hundred metres. I sometimes question my choices of implants and an uplift after I breast feed 4 kids including twins.

All of those that are experiencing SE I hope that you feel better soon, I have been incredibly lucky that the only side effect is being bloody cold.

soupforbrains · 28/04/2025 19:01

@seasidehunterI can’t imagine wanting to or actually doing a marathon. I despise running. Even when I was still an athlete I always hated running. So I am in absolute aw of anyone who can manage a marathon. Let alone 20! Well done!

@Fatmumslim01i really strongly recommend splitting the dose. If you aren’t already. It allows me to maintain a more stable level of MJ in the blood and avoided the peaks and dips which made me so sick.

I’m doing 2x1.66mg (20clicks on 5mg pen) doses currently so a 3.33mg dose (40clicks) per week. I am feeling the suppression more than I was towards the end of the 2.5mg but I’m still largely SE free. (Very mild diarrhoea on Sunday morning and some burps this morning but nothing else).

my NSV is definitely an NSV but it’s getting on my nerves. I realised the other day that the joggers I was wearing were falling down a bit. They sometimes get a bit stretched out between washes so I just tossed them in the wash and put a different pair on today and they’ve been even worse. It’s an NSV and I’m super happy to be losing size but boy is it annoying that all the trousers are now falling down.

I also find it interesting that I have a substantial belly at the front but the weight I’ve lost first is from my back and sides not the actual belly (although I think the belly has reduced a bit).

TheBossOfMe · 28/04/2025 20:14

@soupforbrains Brilliant NSV. So satisfying, isn’t it? And my weight is coming off in the same way, back and sides first, front belly taking longer. Doesn’t help that I had a brutal emergency c section that left me with an overhang even when really slim. The only solution to that is a tummy tuck and I don’t think I’m brave enough for that.

Hi @soupforbrainswhat days do you do your 2 jabs please this sounds perfect and I may try that split as 3.15mg in one dose last week made me lightheaded 🙈

MamaBanana12 · 28/04/2025 20:27

Can I ask for a bit of help!
im on 5mg, just finishing last pen - im going to do the extra dose as i have needles and did for my previous 2.5mg pen.
I go on holiday on Friday for 11 nights, wasn’t planning on traveling
I have taken 5mg jab today (usually play on a Monday) - and I was planning to do my bonus dose on Friday and then stick to a Friday dose -
is that going to be too much within 4 days??

(my new pen is a 5mg I’m sticking on same dose)

Fatmumslim01 · 28/04/2025 20:28

Woohoo the nausea has finally lifted! Realised this afternoon it had just disappeared so think that was 72 hours post 3.75 jab. I'm really hungry now though and trying not to give in to ice cream that I really want!

Now to decide whether to stick to 3.75 again (i don't really want to start splitting doses) or go back to 2.5 or just get the whole 5 done 😱
